  • Objective C: Can't find .js file in my mainBundle?!

    - by Nic Hubbard
    This is driving me crazy as I cannot figure out what in the world is going on. I load up files form you main bundle all the time, xml files, html files, etc. But, now I am trying to get the contents of a javascript file but it can never find it. I am using: NSData *jsData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"global" ofType:@"js"]]; if (jsData) { NSLog(@"%@", jsData); } else { NSLog(@"Can't find file"); return; } Even checking the [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"global" ofType:@"js"] string returns null. My activity.js file is in my Resources folder, the exact location where my other files are location that work totally fine using the above method. Why can't it find my js file?

  • iOS Development: Can I store an array of integers in a Core Data object without creating a new table to represent the array?

    - by BeachRunnerJoe
    Hello. I'm using Core Data and I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to store an array of integers in one of my Core Data entities. Currently, my entities contain various arrays of objects that are more complex than a single number, so it makes sense to represent those arrays as tables in my DB and attach them using relationships. If I want to store a simple array of integers, do I need to create a new table with a single column and attach it using a one-to-many relationship? Or is there a more simple way? Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

  • Animating removeFromSuperview

    - by user230949
    I'd like to animate the transition from a subview back to the super view. I display the subview using: [UIView beginAnimations:@"curlup" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView:self.view cache:YES]; [self.view addSubview:self.mysubview.view]; [UIView commitAnimations]; The above works fine. It's going back to the super view that I don't get any animation: [UIView beginAnimations:@"curldown" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlDown forView:self.view cache:YES]; [self.view removeFromSuperview]; [UIView commitAnimations]; Is there something different I should be doing to get the subview to animate when removed?

  • UIButton title disappears on touch

    - by psychotik
    I want a touchable UILabel, but since that's not possible I decided to create a UIButton of type UIButtonTypeCustom. It looks how I want it to look, but when I touch it, the title disappears. I tried setting the title for state UIControlStateHighlighted but that didn't help. I know I'm doing something really silly here, but can't figure it out. I tried a few things (commented in the code below) which didn't seem to help. Here's how I'm configuring the button: UIButton* button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; button.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, width, height); button.clearsContextBeforeDrawing = YES; button.contentHorizontalAlignment = UIControlContentHorizontalAlignmentLeft; button.contentVerticalAlignment = UIControlContentVerticalAlignmentCenter; button.enabled = YES; button.hidden = NO; button.highlighted = NO; button.opaque = YES; button.selected = NO; button.userInteractionEnabled = YES; button.showsTouchWhenHighlighted = NO; [button setTitle:@"Hello World" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; button.titleLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:16]; button.titleLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; // Things I tried that didn't help //[button setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]]; //button.titleLabel.text = @"Hello World"; //[button setTitle:@"Hello World" forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; Any ideas?

  • @property, ok in this situation?

    - by fuzzygoat
    I am still finding my feet with objective-c and was wondering if its acceptable to use @property on the two objects below. #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import <MapKit/MapKit.h> @interface MapViewController : UIViewController <MKMapViewDelegate, CLLocationManagerDelegate> { CLLocationManager *locationManager; IBOutlet MKMapView *googleMapView; } @property(nonatomic, retain) CLLocationManager *locationManager; @property(nonatomic, retain) MKMapView *googleMapView; @end One of my reasons for using them is so that I can use the setters in my viewDidUnload, I seem to be using @property a lot and was just wondering if the use in this situation is acceptable? -(void)viewDidUnload { [self setLocationManager:nil]; [self setGoogleMapView:nil]; [super viewDidUnload]; } much appreciated Gary

  • Can Settings bundle use values from application's Info.plist file?

    - by delirus
    Hi, is it possible to use values from application's Info.plist file as DefaultValue value for items in Settings.bundle? For example CFBundleVersion. I've tried entering it as ${CFBundleVersion} but it didn't work. I've also tried changing DefaultValue type but with no success. Any ideas? The reasons behind are simple: CFBundleVersion is known at compile time, so I won't have to take its value from application's mainBundle and then apply that value to NSUserDefaults. Other reason is that just after installing the app, but before running it, Settings bundle values are not in-sync as the code setting NSUserDefaults did not have a chance to execute itself... so it would be boring to always remember that I have to change my Settings bundle values manually.

  • (iOS) UI Automation AlertPrompt button/textField accessiblity

    - by lipd
    I'm having a bit of trouble with UI Automation (the built in to iOS tool) when it comes to alertView. First off, I'm not sure where I can set the accessibilityLabel and such for the buttons that are on the alertView. Secondly, although I am not getting an error, I can't get my textField to actually set the value of the textField to something. I'll put up my code for the alertView and the javaScript I am using for UI Automation. UIATarget.onAlert = function onAlert(alert) { // Log alerts and bail, unless it's the one we want var title = alert.name(); UIALogger.logMessage("Alert with title '" + title + "' encountered!"); alert.logElementTree(); if (title == "AlertPrompt") { UIALogger.logMessage(alert.textFields().length + ''); target.delay(1); alert.textFields()["AlertText"].setValue("AutoTest"); target.delay(1); return true; // Override default handler } else return false; } var target = UIATarget.localTarget(); var application = target.frontMostApp(); var mainWindow = application.mainWindow(); mainWindow.logElementTree(); //target.delay(1); //mainWindow.logElementTree(); //target.delay(1); var tableView = mainWindow.tableViews()[0]; var button = tableView.buttons(); //UIALogger.logMessage("Num buttons: " + button.length); //UIALogger.logMessage("num Table views: " + mainWindow.tableViews().length); //UIALogger.logMessage("Number of cells: " + tableView.cells().length); /*for (var currentCellIndex = 0; currentCellIndex < tableView.cells().length; currentCellIndex++) { var currentCell = tableView.cells()[currentCellIndex]; UIALogger.logStart("Testing table option: " + currentCell.name()); tableView.scrollToElementWithName(currentCell.name()); target.delay(1); currentCell.tap();// Go down a level target.delay(1); UIATarget.localTarget().captureScreenWithName(currentCell.name()); //mainWindow.navigationBar().leftButton().tap(); // Go back target.delay(1); UIALogger.logPass("Testing table option " + currentCell.name()); }*/ UIALogger.logStart("Testing add item"); target.delay(1); mainWindow.navigationBar().buttons()["addButton"].tap(); target.delay(1); if(tableView.cells().length == 5) UIALogger.logPass("Successfully added item to table"); else UIALogger.logFail("FAIL: didn't add item to table"); Here's what I'm using for the alertView #import "AlertPrompt.h" @implementation AlertPrompt @synthesize textField; @synthesize enteredText; - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title message:(NSString *)message delegate:(id)delegate cancelButtonTitle:(NSString *)cancelButtonTitle okButtonTitle:(NSString *)okayButtonTitle withOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation) orientation { if ((self == [super initWithTitle:title message:message delegate:delegate cancelButtonTitle:cancelButtonTitle otherButtonTitles:okayButtonTitle, nil])) { self.isAccessibilityElement = YES; self.accessibilityLabel = @"AlertPrompt"; UITextField *theTextField; if(orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) theTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12.0, 45.0, 260.0, 25.0)]; else theTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12.0, 30.0, 260.0, 25.0)]; [theTextField setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [self addSubview:theTextField]; self.textField = theTextField; self.textField.isAccessibilityElement = YES; self.textField.accessibilityLabel = @"AlertText"; [theTextField release]; CGAffineTransform translate = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(0.0, 0.0); [self setTransform:translate]; } return self; } - (void)show { [textField becomeFirstResponder]; [super show]; } - (NSString *)enteredText { return [self.textField text]; } - (void)dealloc { //[textField release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Thanks for any help!

  • What's the best way to return different cells depending on position in a UITableView

    - by Robert Conn
    I have a grouped UITableView that has 3 sections and a number of cells in each section that each need to be a different custom cell, with different display requirements. I currently have a large if statement in cellForRowAtIndexPath, with each branch instantiating and returning the appropriate custom cell based on interrogating the indexPath's section and row properties. e.g. if (indexPath.section == 0 && indexPath.row == 0) { // instantiate and return cell A } else if (indexPath.section == 1 && indexPath.row == 2) { // instantiate and return cell B } //etc etc What is best practice for this scenario? A large if statement does the job, but is it the best implementation?

  • Remembering state: content offset and table cell reuse.

    - by Attacus
    I have a tableview with cells that have a scrollview in them. The scrollview is paged, 2 pages to be exact, and is meant to be able to quickly compare two small blocks of text. I'm trying to find a way to remember what the content offset of the scrollview is. Cell reuse is killing me. I've tried resetting the offset in prepareForReuse or directly in the cellForRowAtIndexPath, but it seems to give me exactly what you'd expect: Randomly offset tablecells after reuse. Anyone have any ideas?

  • How to find out if a method exists in Obj-C when given an NSString

    - by Justin
    I have a method as an NSString *. If it exists, I want to call it, and if not, do nothing. SEL eventSelector = NSSelectorFromString(eventSelectorStr); if ([delegate respondsToSelector:eventSelector]) { [delegate performSelector:eventSelector]; [delegate adapterDidFinishAdRequest:self]; } else { // Does not implement selector } This code does not work, since NSSelectorFromString will register the string as a selector, so respondsToSelector:eventSelector will cause a crash because the selector is actually invalid.

  • How do I call a variable from another class?

    - by squeezemylime
    I have a class called 'Constants' that I am storing a String variable in. This class contains a few global variables used in my app. I want to be able to reference this class and call the variable (called profileId) in other Views of my app. I looked around and found a few examples, but am not sure how to do this. Currently my setup is: Constants.h @interface Constants : UIViewController { NSString *profileId; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSString *profileId; @end Constants.m #import "Constants.h" @implementation Constants @synthesize profileId; - (void)dealloc { [profileId release]; [super dealloc]; } And I am trying to call the variable profileId in a new View via this way: NewView.h file @class Constants; NewView.m file NSLog(@"ProfileId is:", [myConstants profileId]); Is there something I'm missing? It is coming up null, even though I am properly storing a value in it in another function via this way: Constants *Constant; Constant = [[Constants alloc] init]; Constant.profileId = userId;

  • How can I make a UIButton "flash" (with a glow, or changing it's image for a split second)

    - by marty
    I tried just making the image switch to black and then use sleep(1) and have it go back to the original image, but the sleep doesn't work at the right time, and I can't even see the black flash it goes so fast. [blueButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"black.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; sleep(3); [blueButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"blue.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; I just want to make it give a indicator to this button. Any thoughts? Thanks.
