  • JSF : How to refresh required field in ajax request

    - by Tama
    Ok, here you are the core problem. The page. I have two required "input text". A command button that changes the bean value and reRenderes the "job" object. <a4j:form id="pervForm"> SURNAME:<h:inputText id="surname" label="Surname" value="#{prevManager.surname}" required="true" /> <br/> JOB:<h:inputText value="#{prevManager.job}" id="job" maxlength="10" size="10" label="#{msg.common_label_job}" required="true" /> <br/> <a4j:commandButton value="Set job to Programmer" ajaxSingle="true" reRender="job"> <a4j:actionparam name="jVal" value="Programmer" assignTo="#{prevManager.job}"/> </a4j:commandButton> <h:commandButton id="save" value="save" action="save" class="HATSBUTTON"/> </a4j:form> Here the simple manager: public class PrevManager { private String surname; private String job; public String getSurname() { return surname; } public void setSurname(String surname) { this.surname = surname; } public String getJob() { return job; } public void setJob(String job) { this.job = job; } public String save() { //do something } } Let's do this: Write something on the Job input text (such as "teacher"). Leave empty the surname. Save. Validation error appears (surname is mandatory). Press "Set job to Programmer": nothing happens. Checking the bean value, I discovered that it is correctly updated, indeed the component on the page is not updated! Well, according to the JBoss Docs I found: Ajax region is a key ajax component. It limits the part of the component tree to be processed on the server side when ajax request comes. Processing means invocation during Decode, Validation and Model Update phase. Most common reasons to use a region are: -avoiding the aborting of the JSF lifecycle processing during the validation of other form input unnecessary for given ajax request; -defining the different strategies when events will be delivered (immediate="true/false") -showing an individual indicator of an ajax status -increasing the performance of the rendering processing (selfRendered="true/false", renderRegionOnly="true/false") The following two examples show the situation when a validation error does not allow to process an ajax input. Type the name. The outputText component should reappear after you. However, in the first case, this activity will be aborted because of the other field with required="true". You will see only the error message while the "Job" field is empty. Here you are the example: <ui:composition xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:a4j="http://richfaces.org/a4j" xmlns:rich="http://richfaces.org/rich"> <style> .outergridvalidationcolumn { padding: 0px 30px 10px 0px; } </style> <a4j:outputPanel ajaxRendered="true"> <h:messages style="color:red" /> </a4j:outputPanel> <h:panelGrid columns="2" columnClasses="outergridvalidationcolumn"> <h:form id="form1"> <h:panelGrid columns="2"> <h:outputText value="Name" /> <h:inputText value="#{userBean.name}"> <a4j:support event="onkeyup" reRender="outname" /> </h:inputText> <h:outputText value="Job" /> <h:inputText required="true" id="job2" value="#{userBean.job}" /> </h:panelGrid> </h:form> <h:form id="form2"> <h:panelGrid columns="2"> <h:outputText value="Name" /> <a4j:region> <h:inputText value="#{userBean.name}"> <a4j:support event="onkeyup" reRender="outname" /> </h:inputText> </a4j:region> <h:outputText value="Job" /> <h:inputText required="true" id="job1" value="#{userBean.job}" /> </h:panelGrid> </h:form> </h:panelGrid> <h:outputText id="outname" style="font-weight:bold" value="Typed Name: #{userBean.name}" /> <br /> </ui:composition> Form1: the behaviour is incorrect. I need to fill the job and then the name. Form2: the behaviour is correct. I do not need to fill the job to see the correct value. Unfortunately using Ajax region does not help (indeed I used it in a bad way ...) because my fields are both REQUIRED. That's the main different. Any idea? Many thanks.

  • ASP.NET HTTPHandler not throwing exception when one is expected

    - by josephj1989
    I have an HttpHandler class (implements IHttphandler) where the path defined for the handler in web.config is *.jpg. I am requesting a Jpg image in my page. Within the HTTP Handler I am writing to a file in the filesystem. By mistake I was trying to write to a non existant directory. This should have thrown an exception but the execution simply proceeds.Ofcourse no file is written. But if I give a proper directory the file is written correctly.Is there anything special about HttpHandler Exceptions. See part of the code public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context){ File.WriteAllLines(context.Request.ApplicationPath+@"\"+"resul.log",new string[]{"Entered JPG Handler"}); If I put a breakpoint on the File.WriteAllLines statement and then step over it I can see an exception occurring.

  • Using multithreading for loop

    - by annelie
    Hello, I'm new to threading and want to do something similar to this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/100291/speed-up-loop-using-multithreading-in-c-question However, I'm not sure if that solution is the best one for me as I want them to keep running and never finish. (I'm also using .net 3.5 rather than 2.0 as for that question.) I want to do something like this: foreach (Agent agent in AgentList) { // I want to start a new thread for each of these agent.DoProcessLoop(); } --- public void DoProcessLoop() { while (true) { // do the processing // this is things like check folder for new files, update database // if new files found } } Would a ThreadPool be the best solution or is there something that suits this better? Thanks, Annelie

  • Print a bitmap without printing a sprite?

    - by Carlos Barbosa
    Following up from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3021557/as3-printing-problem-blanks-swf-after-print-or-cancel I am trying to comeup with a function to print without creating a sprite, because that's what it seems to be causing my problem: public function printScreen():void { var pJob:PrintJob = new PrintJob(); var options:PrintJobOptions = new PrintJobOptions(); options.printAsBitmap = true; var bitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(root.width, root.height); bitmapData.draw(root); var printThis:Bitmap = new Bitmap(bitmapData); try { pJob.start(); pJob.addPage(printThis, null, options); pJob.send(); } catch(e:Error) { trace("Error Printing") } } This is coming up with an: Error: Description Implicit coercion of a value of type flash.display:Bitmap to an unrelated type flash.display:Sprite. So how do you print a bitmap without creating a Sprite?

  • NHibernate: insert multiple items at once

    - by Gart
    Hello, all! I am learning NHibernate now and I would like to know is it possible to save multiple objects to database in one operation. For example, consider this test code private static void SaveTestBillNamesInSession(ISession session, params string[] names) { var bills = from name in names select new Bill { Name = name, DateRegistered = DateTime.Now, }; foreach (var bill in bills) session.SaveOrUpdate(bill); } This loop here generates many INSERT statements which may be sub-optimal in SQL Server 2008 which allows to include multiple data rows in one INSERT statement. Is it possible to rewrite this code to make use of this functionality - insert all the data in one operation?

  • Win32 api call via C# fails!

    - by user434186
    Hi. I have a C++ function exported as api like this: #define WIN322_API __declspec(dllexport) WIN322_API char* Test(LPSTR str); WIN322_API char* Test(LPSTR str) { return "hello"; } the function is exported as API correctly by the .DEF file, cause i can see it in Dependency Walker tool. Now i have a C# tester program: [DllImport("c:\\win322.dll")] public static extern string Test([MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr)] String str); private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string _str = "0221"; Test(_str); // runtime error here! } on calling the Test() method i get the error: "A call to PInvoke function 'MyClient!MyClient.Form1::Test' has unbalanced the stack. This is likely because the managed PInvoke signature does not match the unmanaged target signature. Check that the calling convention and parameters of the PInvoke signature match the target unmanaged signature." i tried many other data types and marshalings, but got nothing! plz help me!

  • Invoke private method with interface as argument

    - by Stephanie
    Hi, I've been attempting to invoke a private method whose argument is a parameter and I can't quite seem to get it right. Here's kind of how the code looks so far: public class TestClass { public TestClass(){ } private void simpleMethod( Map<String, Integer> testMap) { //code logic } } Then I attempt to use this to invoke the private method: //Hashmap Map <String, Integer> testMap = new HashMap <String, Integer>(); //method I want to invoke Method simpleMethod = TestClass.class.getDeclaredMethod("simpleMethod", Map.class); simpleMethod.setAccessible(true); simpleMethod.invoke(testClassObject, testMap); //Throws an IllegalArgumentException As you can see, it throws an IllegalArgumentException. I've attempted to cast the hashmap back to a map, but that didn't work. What am I doing wrong?

  • Variadic functions and arguments assignment in C/C++

    - by Rizo
    I was wondering if in C/C++ language it is possible to pass arguments to function in key-value form. For example in python you can do: def some_function(arg0 = "default_value", arg1): # (...) value1 = "passed_value" some_function(arg1 = value1) So the alternative code in C could look like this: void some_function(char *arg0 = "default_value", char *arg1) { ; } int main() { char *value1 = "passed_value"; some_function(arg1 = value1); return(0); } So the arguments to use in some_function would be: arg0 = "default_value" arg1 = "passed_value" Any ideas?

  • Trying to understand NavigationController retain count for ViewControllers on its stack

    - by sharkan
    I have an UITableViewController as the rootViewController for my navigatorController. When I press a table cell I do the following: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { MessageHistory *msg = (MessageHistory *)[[self fetchedResultsController]objectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; ConversationViewController *chatController = [[ConversationViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"ConversationView" bundle:nil andUser:msg.user]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:chatController animated:YES]; [chatController release]; But when I'm returning from the chatController (using the back button on the navbar) I get “EXC_BAD_ACCESS” commenting //[chatController release]; solves the problem. How? I thought when pushing to the navigationController adds a retain count and when pop from it release it? Also I believe if I'm not including the release after pushing to the navcontroller I'm generating a leak. Any idea what's happening here?

  • Persisting a collection backed by viewstate in a CompositeControl

    - by tomfanning
    Maybe it's been a long day but I'm having trouble persisting a collection backed by the ASP.NET ViewState in a CompositeControl. Here's a simplified version: public class MyControl : CompositeControl { public Collection<MyObject> MyObjectCollection { get { return (Collection<MyObject>)ViewState["coll"] == null ? new Collection<MyObject>() : (Collection<MyObject>)ViewState["coll"]; } set { ViewState["coll"] = value; } } } public partial class TestPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void btn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { myControl1.MyObjectCollection.Add(new MyObject()); } } When the button is clicked, the event hander btn_Click executes fine, but the setter for MyObjectCollection never gets called, hence the new MyObject() never gets persisted. I think I'm just having a blonde moment. Anyone fancy helping out?

  • Cocos2D TouchesEnded not allowing me to access sprites?

    - by maiko
    Hey Guys! Thanks so much for reading! - (void)ccTouchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch * touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint location = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertToGL: [touch locationInView:touch.view]]; CGRect myRect = CGRectMake(100, 120, 75, 113); int tjx = sprite.position.x; if(CGRectContainsPoint(myRect, location)) { tjx ++; } } For some reason, ccTouchesEnded isn't allowing me to access my "sprite". I also tried to use CGRectMake like so : CGRectMake( sprite.position.x, sprite.position.y, sprite.contentSize.Width, sprite.contentSize.Height) But I couldn't access my sprites position or height. I keep getting "sprite" undeclared when it is declared in the init method, and added to the child. Please help!! I'm sure i'm missing something really simple here.

  • How to shrink-to-fit an std::vector in a memory-efficient way?

    - by dehmann
    I would like to 'shrink-to-fit' an std::vector, to reduce its capacity to its exact size, so that additional memory is freed. The standard trick seems to be the one described here: template< typename T, class Allocator > void shrink_capacity(std::vector<T,Allocator>& v) { std::vector<T,Allocator>(v.begin(),v.end()).swap(v); } The whole point of shrink-to-fit is to save memory, but doesn't this method first create a deep copy and then swaps the instances? So at some point -- when the copy is constructed -- the memory usage is doubled? If that is the case, is there a more memory-friendly method of shrink-to-fit? (In my case the vector is really big and I cannot afford to have both the original plus a copy of it in memory at any time.)

  • LINQ to SQL Translation

    - by Ben
    Hi, Depending on how I map my linq queries to my domain objects, I get the following error The member 'member' has no supported translation to SQL. This code causes the error: public IQueryable<ShippingMethod> ShippingMethods { get { return from sm in _db.ShippingMethods select new ShippingMethod( sm.ShippingMethodID, sm.Carrier, sm.ServiceName, sm.RatePerUnit, sm.EstimatedDelivery, sm.DaysToDeliver, sm.BaseRate, sm.Enabled ); } } This code works fine: public IQueryable<ShippingMethod> ShippingMethods { get { return from sm in _db.ShippingMethods select new ShippingMethod { Id = sm.ShippingMethodID, Carrier = sm.Carrier, ServiceName = sm.ServiceName, EstimatedDelivery = sm.EstimatedDelivery, DaysToDeliver = sm.DaysToDeliver, RatePerUnit = sm.RatePerUnit, IsEnabled = sm.Enabled, BaseRate = sm.BaseRate }; } } This is my testmethod I am testing with: [TestMethod] public void Test_Shipping_Methods() { IOrderRepository orderRepo = new SqlOrderRepository(); var items = orderRepo.ShippingMethods.Where(x => x.IsEnabled); Assert.IsTrue(items.Count() > 0); } How does the way in which I instantiate my object affect the linq to sql translation? Thanks Ben

  • Fast way to set text format for a range of Text using TLF

    - by wezzy
    Hi, i have to set the text format for some tokens in a plain text. I'm trying to use the Text Layout Framework to improve the speed of the operation but i've founded that TLF is far slower (10X in my tests) than the old setTextFormat(). For each token i call this function: public function setTextFormat(format:TextLayoutFormat, begin:int, end:int):void{ var selection:SelectionState = new SelectionState(this._textFlow, begin, end, this._normalFormat); IEditManager(_textFlow.interactionManager).applyLeafFormat(format, selection); } is there any faster and clever way to do this operation ? Thanks

  • Unexpected generics behaviour

    I found strange generics behaviour. In two words - thing I realy want is to use ComplexObject1 in most general way, and the thing I realy missed is why defined generic type(... extends BuisnessObject) is lost. The discuss thread is also awailable in my blog http://pronicles.blogspot.com/2010/03/unexpected-generics-behaviour.html. public class Test { public interface EntityObject {} public interface SomeInterface {} public class BasicEntity implements EntityObject {} public interface BuisnessObject<E extends EntityObject> { E getEntity(); } public interface ComplexObject1<V extends SomeInterface> extends BusinessObject<BasicEntity> {} public interface ComplexObject2 extends BuisnessObject<BasicEntity> {} public void test(){ ComplexObject1 complexObject1 = null; ComplexObject2 complexObject2 = null; EntityObject entityObject1 = complexObject1.getEntity(); //BasicEntity entityObject1 = complexObject1.getEntity(); wtf incompatible types!!!! • form not showing

    - by Luke
    Perhaps this has something to do with it being the mainForm, but I'll ask the question. I have my mainForm that is the first to load when the program is booted. I then click a button called Add, which should open a new form, and close the mainForm. The problem is, is shows the new form for a split second, then closes both. The code: private void addFrmBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { saveForm saveform = new saveForm(); saveform.Show(); this.Close(); }
