  • Eclipse Ganymede for OS X contains no HTML formatter. Alternatives?

    In Eclipse 3.4 for Windows, the Source - Format option for formatting Java code was extended to format HTML code. However, for OS X, this option is disabled. Additionally, there are no formatting options in the Preferences. I've downloaded all the Web Tools for Eclipse and the option is still unavailable. Which plugin/feature allows for HTML formatting on Eclipse OS X, if there is one? Otherwise, what is a good Web-based alternative? Thanks, Adam

  • How to refresh external Jars in eclipse project (Java)?

    Hi all, I have a java project in Eclipse which includes a couple of external jar files. These external jar files are being rebuilt through a different process (not eclipse, ant). Those changes are not being reflected on the eclipse project even if I refresh the project. If I close the project and reopen, it works. Any suggestions on how I could expedite the project without having to close and reopen? Thanks, Praveen.

  • How can I setup ANT with Subversion and ColdFusion Builder (eclipse) to check out a local build to w

    I am not sure if there's an answer for this already -- couldn't find one for this (hopefully common) setup: I recently converted one of my ColdFusion projects to deploy via ANT. I have a local ant script that instructs a remote server to check out the code, and run the application's specific build file, remotely on the server. I have a few endpoints: Live - production (on the production server) Staging - on the production server, different datasource, etc. dev - on the local box. What I have run into it seems is a simple and common problem. I now need ANT to create any build, even locally. Fine, created a local endpoint and it configures for my box. Issue? How do I get it to show up as a project (automatically if possible) in Eclipse/ColdFusion builder. What I envision is instead of checking out a branch via the subversion plugin in CFBuilder/Eclipse, I now use ANT to do that for me. Since I use ColdFusion Builder (Eclipse + Adobe's plugin), I have all of eclipse's tools and plugins available to solve the problem of : how can I best call ANT from within Eclipse/ColdFusion Builder, to setup the local build as a project that I can develop and work on? I think when I check the code back in from the local box, I'd have to be sure not to check in any files with local config paths, etc. I hope this is a detailed and clear enough explanation, if not, please ask.   • Eclipse and JavaFX? is it just me?

    I'm looking at learning JavaFX. I've tried setting Eclipse to develop a small app and I've downloaded the Eclipse plugin. Eclipse JavaFX plugin BUT... it just seems, well, flakey. So I have 3 questions... 1: Is there a better plugin? 2: Or is there some great set of tutorials out there that I'm missing? 3: finally, is it meant to be easy to call Java code from FX? I'm stuggling, it there a good example somewhere? On questions 1 & 2, Eclipse underlines code in red that just shouln't be. For example.. see this image... Why does it underline bit of imports in red? I know this is little of an open ended question. So I guess my main question is this... Is my experiance of JavaFX and Eclipse the best I can hope for? Or am I missing something ? (and I'm not looking for a Yes/No response) :-) Just looking for a discussion on how best to learn/develop JavaFx.

    I have migrated a Web Application from MyEclipse to Eclipse WTP, and I am now in the middle of the first major upgrade to the code base and web pages after the migration, and it is frankly driving me mad that saving a JSP page causes a redeployment of the WHOLE application, as it takes time and that my backend connection does not survive the serialization-deserialization of the session object (which is non-trivial to fix). In addition to that the JSP-editor is insanely slow so I frequently have to pause to let the editor catch up to be certain where my edits go in a small JSP using JavaServer Faces. Disabling validation did not help. The Eclipse Dynamic Web Project depends on several library eclipse projects so I cannot just tell e.g. Jetty to use the WebRoot folder, as several dependencies are then missing from the classpath. The question is: Is there a way of working - ANY way of working - with the Eclipse WTP system that does NOT imply redeploying everything every time any file is saved? I can use Tomcat 5.5 or Jetty 6 as servers.

I understand that help is only installed for the plugins that are installed already. However, I see that PDE(Plugin Development) API reference is not installed on my local eclipse, though a overview of PDE is. Basically, I want to have a local copy of whatever is on eclipse help site . How do I get that in HTML format?

    Does anyone know of a way to make Eclipse an SDI application rather than an MDI one? SDI - Single document interface, each pane is its own window MDI - Multiple document interface, all of the panes are stuck inside one "master" window. Eclipse is an MDI application. All of the little panes (like the call stack, variable viewer, ect) are part of the one master Eclipse window. Rather than having all of the windows stuck inside one master "eclipse" window, I'd like them to all be their own free-floating windows.

  • Why does Eclipse crash with Xmx, XX:MaxPermSize above certain values?

    Running Eclipse 3.5.1, JDK 1.6.0_17 on WinXP SP3 32Bit with 3.5 gigs of RAM. I'm aware of the known Eclipse best practices, still trying to figure out eclipse.ini. This will launch: -Xmx588m and this won't: -Xmx589m. Same with -XX:MaxPermSize. Anything above -XX:MaxPermSize=140m won't launch. The screen of death is simlar to this (taken from here). Any ideas on why might this be happening?

    Eclipse's default template for new types (Window Preferences Code Style Code Templates New Java Files) looks like this: ${filecomment} ${package_declaration} ${typecomment} ${type_declaration} Creating a new class, it'll look something like this: package pkg; import blah.blah; public class FileName { // Class is accessible to everyone, and can be inherited } Now, I'm fervent in my belief that access should be as restricted as possible, and inheritance should be forbidden unless explicitly permitted, so I'd like to change the ${type_declaration} to declare all classes as final rather than public: package pkg; import blah.blah; final class FileName { // Class is only accessible in package, and can't be inherited } That seems easier said than done. The only thing I've found googling is a 2004 question on Eclipse's mailing list which was unanswered. So, the question in short: How can I change the default class/type modifiers in Eclipse? I'm using Eclipse Galileo (3.5) if that matters.

  • Google App Engine/GWT/Eclipse Plugin Newbie Question- how to autobuild client side resources?

    Hi there, I'm tinkering with the default GWT application generated by the Google Eclipse plugin when I click the Google "New Web Application Project" button in Eclipse 3.5. This will no doubt be familiar to many of you.. basically there is an h1 title stating "Web Application Starter Project," a text field, and a Send button. What I've found is that whenever I make changes to the client side resources, e.g. change the text on the Send button to "Submit" in the .java file, Eclipse does not appear to autobuild these resources. In fact I have to rebuild the entire project in order for these changes to be reflected in my browser. I do have "build automatically" selected in eclipse. I should state that this is my second GWT project, the first was almost entirely server side (restlet on GAE) and everything built automatically nicely. When I first tried this new project with updated client resources, on refreshing my browser, the browser stated "you may need to (re)compile your project." I'm not sure if this is relevant but I thought I'd mention it all the same. So what's going on? How do I get Eclipse/GWT to autobuild these client side resources? Cheers for any help you can offer! :-)

  • How do you stop Eclipse from inserting a certain class in Content-Assist?

    I'm using SpringSource Tool Suite (Eclipse) to program with Grails, and I'm also using JFreechart in the program. In Grails you log by typing log.info("method worked"). Unfortunately JFrechart has a class called "Log" with Static methods like "info". This means that in STS I type log.info and then when I type space or ( Eclipse "assists" me by importing the JFreechart Log class and changing what I've typed to Log.info(message). Very irritating. I reckon I could turn off the Eclipse option to "insert single proposals automatically", but I like this feature. Can I instruct Eclipse not to give me content assist from this particular JFreechart class?

In previous Eclipse versions i remember if i have defined a method with a parameter and didn't use it internally a warning appears, like this : public void myMethod( int x ) { // Didn't use x here so a warning appears at the x parameter. } But in v3.5 i do not see this warning. How can i enable it in Eclipse ?

    Hi, How can I setup Eclipse to stop at the point an exception occurred. I have an Eclipse breakpoint setup to break on an exception. In the code example below, the problem I'm having is Eclipse tries to open the Integer source code. Is there any way to just have debugger break at the point shown in my code example? If I move down the stack trace, I will get to this line, it'd be nice if there's a way to do this without the "Source not found" window coming up.     Are there any sites where I could buy a site template designed in Twitter Bootstrap (so that it's easy to modify)? I'm working on a site redesign and I think finding a template that looks close enough and modifying it is an economical way to go. (We're pretty niche so I don't need us to have a super cool website.) But folks I've talked to say that many of those templates are hard to modify. So I'm thinking that finding a template designed in a customizable framework would be easy to modify.

  • brackets in php templates

    I have a script, and now it's the perfect time to have an option to change theme templates. I was looking forward to store these files in php files, or html files. with CSS file. I looked over some codes and I found that they use brackets to refer to the variable. Here's an example of a template block: <div class='block_div'> <center>{title}</center> {content} </div> I know that I can use PHP vars usering <?=$var;?>. However, I think the one above is better, and I looked over the web to find anything about it but I couldn't. My Question is how I can use these brackets in my php or html code. to let the user changing the template only not the code!
