  • Extending Code Igniter functions to external PHP Scripts

    Hello everybody. I'm doing a small web app, which uses CKeditor for user input, and CKfinder for file management (images/flash). Those who know CKFinder, algo know that the config file for CKFinder as a function named CheckAuthentication() that returns false or true, giving or not permissions to use CKFinder. This is were a Custom PHP Code checks if the user as authorization to access CKFinder or not. Well for my app I'm using Code Igniter, and of course I've created a model were i handle everything about User Permissions, Loggin, Session Cookies, etc. And i also have a function witch its propose is just to check if the user is Logged in. So I would like to know if someone knows a way that i can call the function isLoggedIn() inside the model security from inside the function CheckAuthentication() in CKFinder config file.   • Is it possible to update from Windows 8 Enterprise to version 8.1 without having to reinstall the OS?

    Today we are told that the 8.1 update, (a version which allows you to keep apps, settings, and files), is officially being rolled out worldwide. No longer will you have to do a clean OS install, to go from 8 to 8.1. But I don't see the update inside my (Enterprise's) desktop 'Windows Update' program, and furthermore, Microsoft themselves say: If you’re running [Enterprise], you can't install the free update to Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1 from the Store. However they DO also say: If you installed Windows 8 using an MSDN ISO, you might be able to install Windows 8.1 using a similar ISO from MSDN But it does not specify whether this method allows seamless apps and settings-retaining upgrading or not. Is there a method for doing it (whether official or unofficial - perhaps confirmed via experience of updating with some sort of Enterprise 8.1 ISO), or is an update indeed expected for the Enterprise version via the desktop 'Windows Update' program? A further observation which may help: the page I cite refers to the 'Windows Store', which is the 'Modern UI' app store and NOT the desktop 'Windows Update' program which typically updates desktop Office and desktop Windows alike.

  • Cannot disable spotlight indexing on volume

    I have a FAT32 partition on my HDD. When using OSX, it is mounted to /Volumes/MEDIA. After a recent upgrade to Mavericks, spotlight is having trouble indexing it, eating up almost all of my system resources, and I cannot get the indexing to stop: [jay-mba-osx ~]% sudo mdutil -v -a -i off /: Indexing disabled.   • INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE on Windows 8.1 Bootcamp

    I'm on my MacBook Pro and I want to use my Bootcamp partition to work on one screen. I've installed Parallels 9 and after I installed it and configured it to look at my Windows partition through the Bootcamp Wizard it gives me an "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" error when I try and boot. I figured it must be an issue with parallels so I've rebooted and now I'm getting it when I try to boot into Windows 8.1. Any ideas? Thanks

    I have some applications that I open from time to time, and I always get this UAC message with Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer? Is there a way I can mark a single program so that won't ask me that again? Like, I think it is good that it asks me the first time, but some programs I do launch more often, and I am ok with them making changes and don't want to be asked all the time.

  • Best choice for a personal "online backup" in Europe

    I'm looking for an online backup solution for personal use - besides all the usual requirements (like not too expensive, since it's for personal use), I'd like to add two requirements to it: data center should be in Europe (I don't want my personal data stored in the US, when the next crazed president comes along and wants to confiscate and rifle through everybody's files.....) the online backup store should be accessible through a drive letter in cmd.exe So far, I've looked at a few services, but none have totally convinced me: Dropbox is looking ok, but they insist on creating a silly "My Dropbox" directory in my data path - and there's no way I can choose that name. Sorry - "My everything" is for dummies - I don't like that, I like to name my files and folders according to my liking LiveDrive is OK, too - they offer European storage, drive letter and all - but those drive letters are only available in the Windows Explorer - and not on the cmd.exe command line :-( and since I do 99% of my work on the command line, this is a major drawback..... Any other services I haven't looked at worth checking out? Marc

  • Trying to make a custom Arch-based Linux distro with larch

    I'm all set up with a spiffy Arch installation in a virtual machine, and now I want to turn it into a live ISO. When I heard about larch, I thought it would be the perfect tool to turn my existing installation into something I could distribute. However, I can't get larch to install properly. I followed the installation instructions on the website, which said to download and run the larch-setup script. When I run it, though, it installs the larch profiles and libraries but doesn't install the executable programs. Here's a screenshot of the errors I get when larch-setup tries to install the executables. I'd greatly appreciate any clues to what is going wrong here, or suggestions for alternative ways to turn my customized Arch installation into an ISO! Thanks!

    I'm trying to copy all files and folders from one directory to another, but exclude certain files. Specifically, I want to exclude subversion files and folders. However, I'd like a general yet concise solution. I imagine I'll find the need to exclude several types of files in the near future. For example, I might want to exclude .svn, *.bak, and *.prj. Here is what I've put together so for, but it is not working for me. The first part, find works, but I'm doing something wrong with xargs and cp. I tried cp with and without the -R.     I'm using Iceweasel (un/rebranded Firefox) 3.5.9 on Debian (amd64). I want to use the "Furigana Injector" plugin. I installed it via the Tools - Add-ons menuitem (version 1.3), and restarted Firefox. Unfortunately, when I click the button, it only says: "The 'SimpleMecab' XPCOM component could not be loaded." in a dialog box, several dozen times (!). I found a Debian package "libmecab1", but installing it didn't help. Is there some "mecab" package I can install that will make this work?

  • MacBook Pro - 7200 vs 5400 rpm drives - Heat and Noise

    I am looking at a new 15" MacBook Pro for development purposes. I am planning to run a Virtual Machine for about 50% of my work (Windows 7 x64, IIS, SQL Server, and VS 2010). The upgrade from a 5400 rpm drive to a 7200 rpm is only $45. From what I understand the faster rotational speed of the 7200 rpm drive will help virtual machine performance. However, I am concerned that additional heat and fan noise might be an issue. I will be running mostly on A/C power so decreased battery life is not a major concern for me. Since I would be running with a Core i7 processor which gives off a fair amount of heat already I was wondering if it might be best to stay at 5400 rpm for the hard drive. What do you all think?   • 256 Colors in Terminal over SSH on OSX 10.6

    I am using either Windows 7 or Ubuntu 12.04 and trying to SSH into OSX 10.6. Using Vim color schemes, I can emulate the colors on xterm-256 color on Linux and gVim on Windows. However, I would like the colors to follow through when I am SSHing onto the OSX. The default terminal, however, does not support xterm-256color. Is there a way to have OSX use iterm2 by default, to accept all SSH requests instead of terminal.app? If not, is there a way to install xterm-256color into the default terminal? Upgrading to Lion is out of the question at this point. Thank you!

  • iPhone tethering via USB not working

    I can't get USB tethering to work. My setup: iMac with Mac OS 10.6.2 iPhone 3G, Sofware version 3.1.2 (Build 7D11) The phone shows up in iTunes and syncing works as it should. I went to System Preferences / Network and added the iPhone as a Network Service. To the right there is a status message for the selected service. With the iPhone not plugged in, the status message reads: Either the cable for iPhone is not plugged in or the device is not responding. With the iPhone plugged in, the status message reads: Either the cable for iPhone USB is not plugged in or the device is not responding. Almost identical messages, the only difference is "USB". Any clues?

Some times it won't respond, and some other times it adds characters indefinitely to the typing area. When i click on desktop it creates new folders. When press ctrl+N on a browser windows it opens unlimited number of windows. I tried with Kaspersky and Eset antivirus trial versions but couldn't find any virus. I don't get this behaviour always.. but 50% of times... Thanks....

    I want to install ckeditor in Tiddlywiki can someone guide me through the installation process. I have download the source of CKEditor and placed it in the same folder as my TiddlyWiki and then I try to import it but nothing happens.   • Can't copy file with green filename, access denied

    Using Windows Explorer under XP I see some of my files have green filenames. When I try and copy one of these files I get an error reporting Access denied. The My pictures folder also appears with green text and I have a large number of photos from family holidays I don't want to loose. I need to backup these files as I'm changing laptop soon. We use SafeBoot to encryt our hard drives but I don't think this is the problem as it allows me to copy other files to removable media with no problems. Has anybody come across this before and how can I resolve this?

  • ImgBurn fails to burn data CD-R disk due to "Layouts do not match" error

    I have a reoccurring problem with the program ImgBurn. Whenever I try and burn anything to a CD-R using ImgBurn it burns just fine, except for when I go and verify the disk. It tells me that the "Layouts do not match". Windows 7 shows the disk as completely blank. Although, I see on the bottom of the disk it has been written to. I can burn ISO files to DVD-R's just fine. This only seems to happen with CD-R's. The CD-R's I'm using are Memorex Cool Colors 52x CD-R's. I have looked on Google, and it seems like I'm not the only one this happens to. Unfortunately, no one is able to provide an explanation. I have included the log file from the last CD I just burnt.
