hi all,
is it possible to write database methods in properties file, like some database queries and can be accessed using servlets which may reduce the code?
please any body help
Running the following simple query in SSMS:
UPDATE tblEntityAddress
SET strPostCode= REPLACE(strPostCode,' ','')
The update to the data (at least in memory) is complete in under a minute. I verified this by performing another query with transaction isolation level read uncommitted. The update query, however, continues to run for another 30 minutes. What is the issue here? Is this caused by a delay to write to disk?
TIA
I'm using GitHub for code and Heroku for the deployment platform for my rails app.
I don't want to have sensitive data under Git. Such data include database file settings (database.yml) and some other files that have secret API keys.
When I deploy to heroku, how can I deal with files that are not under revision control.
When I use Capistrano, I can write some hook methods, but I don't know what to do with Heroku.
Hi I am having Netezza Database. I am querying the tables through DB visualiser. Since my table creation involves complex, I am interested to use procedures but I am unable to write it in DBvisualiser. I am confused whether the problem is with the tool that I use or in Netezza? Please advice
I have seen people writing forms in mdoels or in forms.py? Is it the case I can actually write it anywhere say in blah.py and just import it wherever necessary?
Im just wondering how i use xmlencoder to serialize ArrayList where foo is my own made class.
Do i have to do anything in particular, ie define my own xml structure first and then call toString on each value in my list and write it out?
Can anyone point me to a good tutorial? http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/persistence4/ Thats what i have been looking at but it doesnt seem to mention what to do with non library classes.
Thanks
I have very large images (jpg) and i want to write a csharp program to loop through the files and reduce the size of each image by 75%.
I tried this:
Image thumbNail = image.GetThumbnailImage(800, 600, null, new IntPtr());
but the file size is still very large.
Is there anyway to create thumbnails and have the filesize be much smaller?
Hi,
I am trying to format this line of code in my popup window, but i am facing unterminated string literal error.
Can somebody please tell me how best I could format this.
window.setTimeout("winId.document.write('<script src="../js/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js" type="text/javascript"></script>\n')", 10);
Also point out if this particular line of code would work fine in the popup?
I'm using Drupal 6 and its core comment module.
I want to run a custom funcion every time a user posts a comment, but I don't want to mess with the comment.module for obvious reasons.
Is there a practical way I can do this in a custom module? If not, what are the alternatives as I don't want to write my own commenting system.
Is there a better way to write this Expando class? The way it is written does not work.
I'm using Ruby 1.8.7
starting code quoted from https://gist.github.com/300462/3fdf51800768f2c7089a53726384350c890bc7c3
class Expando
def method_missing(method_id, *arguments)
if match = method_id.id2name.match(/(\w*)(\s*)(=)(\s*)(\.*)/)
puts match[1].to_sym # think this was supposed to be commented
self.class.class_eval{ attr_accessor match[1].to_sym }
instance_variable_set("#{match[1]}", match[5])
else
super.method_missing(method_id, *arguments)
end
end
end
person = Expando.new
person.name = "Michael"
person.surname = "Erasmus"
person.age = 29
I'm trying to write tests for some legacy code with PHPUnit 3.4.9, but it seems that all my global variables are invisible.
How can I access global variables inside PHPUnit 3.4.9?
In C#, can multiple threads read and write to a Dictionary provided each thread only accesses one element in the dictionary and never accesses another?
I've recently learned to write my own WebControls, but I'm still hazy on the difference between Render and RenderControl. I started out using Render, but at some point I started using RenderControl, which I now use exclusively. If I'm forming a bad habit I'd like to nip it in the bud now before I get set in my ways.
I'm attempting to write a function in bash that will access the scripts command line arguments, but they are replaced with the positional arguments to the function. Is there any way for the function to access the command line arguments if they aren't passed in explicitly?
# Demo function
function stuff {
echo $0 $*
}
# Echo's the name of the script, but no command line arguments
stuff
# Echo's everything I want, but trying to avoid
stuff $*
Hi,
I have a 500Mb csv file. I need to convert it into XML file.
I am using the Jaxb to created the xml file. It is working fine for small amout of data.
but for large amout of data like 300 mb it is throwing out of memory exception.
Can anyone tell me that How can I create each element and write it into a file
without creating the whole tree using the jaxb?"
Thanks

Hello,
I have a slow mySQL query in my application that I need to re-write. The problem is, it's only slow on my production server and only when it's not cached. The first time I run it, it will take 12 seconds, then anytime after that it'll be 500 milliseconds.
Is there an easy way to test this query without it hitting the query cache so I can see the results of my refactoring?
Thanks!
What's the cleanest way of filtering a Python string through an external program? In particular, how do you write the following function?
def filter_through(s, ext_cmd):
# Filters string s through ext_cmd, and returns the result.
# Example usage:
# filter a multiline string through tac to reverse the order.
filter_through("one\ntwo\nthree\n", "tac")
# => returns "three\ntwo\none\n"
Note: the example is only that - I realize there are much better ways of reversing lines in python.
Is there a program out there or some other thing that will run some kind of virtualization for me or something, to test the hardware minimums for a program I write? Something I can do locally without install testing on, say, a 33 mhz 64kb ram IBM or something
I'd like to write a test script or program that asserts that all dlls in a given directory are of a particular build type.
I would use this as a sanity check at the end of a build process on an sdk to make sure that the 64bit version hasn't somehow got some 32bit dlls in it and vice versa.
Is there an easy way to look at a dll file and determine its type?
The solution should work on both xp32 and xp64.

I'm trying to write a program to take the first letter of the user input to generate a username. I'm trying to write it so that if the user leaves the input blank, then the letter that would otherwise be taken to generate the username defaults to the letter 'z'.
Here is my full code:
import java.util.Scanner;
/**
UsernameGenerator.java
Generates a username based on the users inputs.
@author: Evan Fravert
*/
public class UsernameGenerator {
/**
* Generates a username based on the users inputs.
*@param args command line argument
*/
public static void main(String[] args)
{ // abcde
String first;
String middle;
String last;
String password1;
String password2;
int randomNum;
randomNum = (int) (Math.random() * 1000) + 100;
Scanner userInput = new Scanner(System.in);
System.out.println("Please enter your first name:");
first = userInput.nextLine();
String firstLower = first.toLowerCase();
System.out.println("Please enter your middle name:");
middle = userInput.nextLine();
String middleLower = middle.toLowerCase();
System.out.println("Please enter your last name:");
last = userInput.nextLine();
int lastEnd = last.length()-1;
String lastLower = last.toLowerCase();
System.out.println("Please enter your password:");
password1 = userInput.nextLine();
System.out.println("Please enter your password again:");
password2 = userInput.nextLine();
char firstLetter = firstLower.charAt(0);
char middleLetter = middleLower.charAt(0);
char lastLetter = lastLower.charAt(0);
char lastLast = lastLower.charAt(lastEnd);
if first.length() == 0) {
firstLetter = 'z';
}
else {
firstLetter = firstLower.charAt(0);
}
System.out.println("Your username is " + firstLetter + ""
+ middleLetter + "" + lastLetter + "" + "" + lastLast + "" + randomNum);
System.out.println("Your password is " + password1);
System.out.println("Welcome " + first + " " + middle + " " + last + "!");
}
