• No IO exception reported for socket operation when the interface is removed

  The wifi network is connected, the application setup a socket connection and exchange data with the remote server. But when turn off the wifi, the inteface is removed, while socket operation read/write on this socket is still like normal, no any IO exception reported. The application has to do some extra checking to avoid waiting for the data forever. Is this the normal case for Android design? Is there any plan to fix it?

• merging and manupulating files in matlab

  Is there a way to run a loop through a folder and process like 30 files for a month and give the average,max of each columns and write in one excel sheet or so?? I have 30 files of size [43200 x 30] I ran a different matlab scrip to generate them so the names are easy File_2010_04_01.xls , File_2010_04_02.xls ..... and so on I cannot merge them as each are 20mbs and matlab would crash. • Calling C# code from Java?

  Does anyone have a good solution for integrating some C# code into a java application? The code is small, so I could re-write in java, but I would rather reuse the code if possible. Don't repeat yourself, etc. Also, I know I can expose the C# as a web service or whatever, but it has some security/encryption stuff in there, so I would rather keep it tightly integrated if possible. Edit: It's going to be on a server-based app, so "downloading" another runtime is irrelevant.

Note: I need to mix a static (common.xml) and a dynamic configuration. I can't use XML for the latter because that would mean to write 1000 XML files.

  What's a good way to keep counting up infinitely? I'm trying to write a condition that will keep going until there's no value in a database, so it's going to iterate from 0, up to theoretically infinity (inside a try block, of course). How would I count upwards infinitely? Or should I use something else? I am looking for something similar to i++ in other languages, where it keeps iterating until failure.
