  • How to set the default input focus/caret position in Outlook 2007 stationery?

    - by Ronald
When using stationery/templates in Outlook 2007, I want to set the caret position between the header and footer by default. Now you have to click in the right place to start typing, which is annoying... Is the some special markup that would allow me to set a default caret position? Something like this (for Outlook Express 5/6): http://email.about.com/od/outlookexpresstips/qt/et041205.htm.

  • Create VPN between windows and sonic wall

    - by Chris Lively
I'm trying to establish a VPN connection between our Windows 2008 R2 server and a client's SonicWall device. The problem is, I'm not entirely sure where to start. I thought I could just add it to RRAS but this doesn't appear to work (times out), I'm not entirely sure I did that right anyway. My server is hosted on an EC2 instance if that matters. My question then is how should I go about establishing this type of connection?

  • Problems creating service using sc.exe

    - by Shoko
I have this command to create a service: sc create svnserve binpath="\"C:\Program Files (x86)\Subversion\bin\svnserve.exe\" --service --root C:\SVNRoot" displayname="Subversion" depend=tcpip start=auto obj="NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" Unfortunately, it seems not to work, even though the syntax is correct. When I run it, I get the usage instructions (which I guess is a way of telling me that I've supplied incorrect arguments, although I have no idea what incorrect argument I might have supplied). Can anyone help me out of my difficulty? Thanks!

  • Receiving broadcast packets using packet socket

    - by user314336
    Hello I try to send DHCP RENEW packets to the network and receive the responses. I broadcast the packet and I can see that it's successfully sent using Wireshark. But I have difficulties receiving the responses.I use packet sockets to catch the packets. I can see that there are responses to my RENEW packet using Wireshark, but my function 'packet_receive_renew' sometimes catch the packets but sometimes it can not catch the packets. I set the file descriptor using FDSET but the 'select' in my code can not realize that there are new packets for that file descriptor and timeout occurs. I couldn't make it clear that why it sometimes catches the packets and sometimes doesn't. Anybody have an idea? Thanks in advance. Here's the receive function. int packet_receive_renew(struct client_info* info) { int fd; struct sockaddr_ll sock, si_other; struct sockaddr_in si_me; fd_set rfds; struct timeval tv; time_t start, end; int bcast = 1; int ret = 0, try = 0; char buf[1500] = {'\0'}; uint8_t tmp[BUFLEN] = {'\0'}; struct dhcp_packet pkt; socklen_t slen = sizeof(si_other); struct dhcps* new_dhcps; memset((char *) &si_me, 0, sizeof(si_me)); memset((char *) &si_other, 0, sizeof(si_other)); memset(&pkt, 0, sizeof(struct dhcp_packet)); define SERVER_AND_CLIENT_PORTS ((67 << 16) + 68) static const struct sock_filter filter_instr[] = { /* check for udp */ BPF_STMT(BPF_LD|BPF_B|BPF_ABS, 9), BPF_JUMP(BPF_JMP|BPF_JEQ|BPF_K, IPPROTO_UDP, 0, 4), /* L5, L1, is UDP? */ /* skip IP header */ BPF_STMT(BPF_LDX|BPF_B|BPF_MSH, 0), /* L5: */ /* check udp source and destination ports */ BPF_STMT(BPF_LD|BPF_W|BPF_IND, 0), BPF_JUMP(BPF_JMP|BPF_JEQ|BPF_K, SERVER_AND_CLIENT_PORTS, 0, 1), /* L3, L4 */ /* returns */ BPF_STMT(BPF_RET|BPF_K, 0x0fffffff ), /* L3: pass */ BPF_STMT(BPF_RET|BPF_K, 0), /* L4: reject */ }; static const struct sock_fprog filter_prog = { .len = sizeof(filter_instr) / sizeof(filter_instr[0]), /* casting const away: */ .filter = (struct sock_filter *) filter_instr, }; printf("opening raw socket on ifindex %d\n", info->interf.if_index); if (-1==(fd = socket(PF_PACKET, SOCK_DGRAM, htons(ETH_P_IP)))) { perror("packet_receive_renew::socket"); return -1; } printf("got raw socket fd %d\n", fd); /* Use only if standard ports are in use */ /* Ignoring error (kernel may lack support for this) */ if (-1==setsockopt(fd, SOL_SOCKET, SO_ATTACH_FILTER, &filter_prog, sizeof(filter_prog))) perror("packet_receive_renew::setsockopt"); sock.sll_family = AF_PACKET; sock.sll_protocol = htons(ETH_P_IP); //sock.sll_pkttype = PACKET_BROADCAST; sock.sll_ifindex = info->interf.if_index; if (-1 == bind(fd, (struct sockaddr *) &sock, sizeof(sock))) { perror("packet_receive_renew::bind"); close(fd); return -3; } if (-1 == setsockopt(fd, SOL_SOCKET, SO_BROADCAST, &bcast, sizeof(bcast))) { perror("packet_receive_renew::setsockopt"); close(fd); return -1; } FD_ZERO(&rfds); FD_SET(fd, &rfds); tv.tv_sec = TIMEOUT; tv.tv_usec = 0; ret = time(&start); if (-1 == ret) { perror("packet_receive_renew::time"); close(fd); return -1; } while(1) { ret = select(fd + 1, &rfds, NULL, NULL, &tv); time(&end); if (TOTAL_PENDING <= (end - start)) { fprintf(stderr, "End receiving\n"); break; } if (-1 == ret) { perror("packet_receive_renew::select"); close(fd); return -4; } else if (ret) { new_dhcps = (struct dhcps*)calloc(1, sizeof(struct dhcps)); if (-1 == recvfrom(fd, buf, 1500, 0, (struct sockaddr*)&si_other, &slen)) { perror("packet_receive_renew::recvfrom"); close(fd); return -4; } deref_packet((unsigned char*)buf, &pkt, info); if (-1!=(ret=get_option_val(pkt.options, DHO_DHCP_SERVER_IDENTIFIER, tmp))) { sprintf((char*)tmp, "%d.%d.%d.%d", tmp[0],tmp[1],tmp[2],tmp[3]); fprintf(stderr, "Received renew from %s\n", tmp); } else { fprintf(stderr, "Couldnt get DHO_DHCP_SERVER_IDENTIFIER%s\n", tmp); close(fd); return -5; } new_dhcps->dhcps_addr = strdup((char*)tmp); //add to list if (info->dhcps_list) info->dhcps_list->next = new_dhcps; else info->dhcps_list = new_dhcps; new_dhcps->next = NULL; } else { try++; tv.tv_sec = TOTAL_PENDING - try * TIMEOUT; tv.tv_usec = 0; fprintf(stderr, "Timeout occured\n"); } } close(fd); printf("close fd:%d\n", fd); return 0; }

  • Build a server in KVM linux

    - by Lai Yu-Hsuan
I owned a linux server. Now there are several users want to build web services on it, but they require different enviroments. For convenience I give a KVM virtual machine root permission to each user. But obviously the linux server has only one IP. How can I deliver the external requests to corresponding virtual machine? (I expect it's somewhat complicated. If so I want at least some docs/websites I can start reading.)

  • Could one hypothetically upgrade a computer from Windows 95 to Windows 8

    - by JMK
Hypothetically, could you start with a computer running Windows 95, upgrade this to Windows 98, then upgrade this to Windows XP, then upgrade this to Vista, then to 7 and finally to 8 (consumer preview)? What state would the OS be in after so many upgrades? Would any of the native Windows 95 apps still be sticking around in Windows 8? Has anybody done anything like this before? I don't need to do this, I am just asking out of curiosity! Thanks

  • Problem with several USB devices on Windows XP. How to diagnose USB device?

    - by Lukasz Baran
Hello All, Recently I've bought some electronic devices (like e.g. Sony Ebook reader PRS-600 or HP PDA IPaq) which are connected to PC using USB ports. These devices have own batteries and they are recharged using USB. However, I am experiencing a problem with Ebook Reader and the similiar thing happens with my PDA (but in this case it's more rare). Sometimes, I am unable to make it start recharging, when it's connected to USB port. The LCD diode on my Reader lights up and the icon in the system tray appears. They both indicate that the device has been connected. However, the device should start recharching and it should appear on Windows XP as a 'explorable' device (just like pendrive it offers some HDDs). None of these happens:( This problem appears on two PCs - desktop and laptop. Both have Windows XP SP3 installed. And what's interesting and surprising to me is the fact that these devices sometimes work without any problems. I mean, I just plug them in and they work properly. Besides that, there are some computers (I have tested a variety of possible conditions) on which the problem does not appear! I am confused and, on the other hand, determined to find out what is the real cause of such strange behavior. Maybe I'm wrong but I always assumed that I'm using deterministic machines, but the described situation makes me feel like I was dreaming:) And that's why I'm asking you here. Are there any tools that could help me diagnose USB ports? Or maybe anyone knows the solution? I have a lot experience with low level programming (mostly from the times of MS-DOS applications), but I'm not an expert when it comes to WinXP technology. If this was a problem with network connection, I would know what to do - I know how to track network traffic, but with USB ports I feel powerless. I have a feeling that the problem may lie in a way WinXP handles USB devices. Personally, I hate auto-discovery and P'n'P features available in Windows. I know that some of may suggest to move to Linux or other *Nix system. Unfortunately, I have to use WinXP in my professional life, so it's rather impossible. Besides that, I don't consider XP as a total disaster. Any help from you will be appreciated!

  • Is there a way to make Notepad++ auto-complete words on {TAB} instead of {ENTER}?

    - by Andrew Cheong
Is there a way to make Notepad++ auto-complete words on Tab instead of Enter? Currently, if want to type, say, frame, then Enter to begin a new line, instead the Enter will select the first auto-complete suggestion, like frameElement:      I do want the auto-complete feature, but I'd rather have a key like Tab do the actual selection, because Enter is frequently purposed toward starting a new line, whereas Tab is rarely used to indent after a word (since indenting is usually done at the start of lines), and so perhaps would be better repurposed toward auto-completion.

  • Is there any way I can share the 3.42GB download of Windows 8.1 from Windows Store?

    - by LoneWOLFs
Windows 8.1 is out and I would like to know if it is possible to share the Windows 8.1 download upgrade between different computers so that I don't have to download it over and over again? This might be helpful for people who are on a metered connection. Store is downloading 3.42GB of data so it must be stored somewhere. Is there any way I can copy it to my other computers and start the setup so that I don't have to download it over and over again on each computer I own?

  • Remote Program (via ssh) suspends when leaving client computer

    - by Philipp F
I'm working with MATLAB on a remote computer logging in via ssh -X remotepc and running matlab like matlab &. When I start a long-running process and leave the computer, it seems to suspend the process (after like 30mins being away) such that there is nearly no progress over night. As soon as I come back and wake up the client, the remote process continues with the calculation. I can see this from the load-average values (uptime) Why is that and how can I change this behaviour?

  • Hosted file is downloaded damaged by IE

    - by victor hugo
I have a ZIP file hosted via Apache with Akamai as CDN, the problem is when trying to download it with IE (and just IE) it is damaged and I'm unable to open it. Since the problem occurs in other computers in different locations I've discarded network settings (firewall, proxy, etc). I don't even know where start to look? What would be a possible cause for this to happen? UPDATE I'm trying to solve the problem in the server (or CDN), I've verified it's not a client error

  • How can I create a heat map based on data from Google Analytics?

    - by tnorthcutt
How would one go about creating a heat map (say, of the US) based on location data from Google Analytics? I'd like to somehow create such a map with the visitor data from several websites that use Google Analytics. I'm not really looking for a step-by-step tutorial, just some suggestions on how to start. Assume little to no programming experience, but a willingness to learn and hack together stuff to make it work.

  • I have an internal machine with apache that I can access by IP Address but not computer name

    - by Parris
I have ubuntu machine running lampp. While on the machine I can type localhost or the computers name to access htdocs. From another machine I can only access the machine via its IP Address. This just started happening recently when someone rearranged the network cables and removed a hub sitting between the machine and the network, which makes me think it wasn't all the stable to begin with anyways. Any suggestions on where I should start looking?

  • Is there a simple way to daemon-ify a simple task?

    - by Jonas Byström
I ssh into a server than start a job (for instance rsync), then I just want to be able to log out from the server and let the job run its course. But if I just do rsync ... & I think it's still connected to the tty in some way, and that the job dies when the tty goes away when logging out. Is there any (easy) way to disconnect the process from the tty to be able to log out without the process terminating?

  • Process keeps creating dump files

    - by Pieter
We have a Delphi application running on a terminal server that keeps generating dump files. For the same PID, it keeps creating dump files with an interval of around 1 second until the process is killed manually. Another weird thing is the name of the dump files: ±_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_40.dmp ÷_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_42.dmp k_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_39.dmp Ô_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_41.dmp Ž_minidump_default_pid_7916_tid_x6590_2012_6_18_13_48_40.dmp The dump files aren't telling us much and we would like to have a suggestion where we should start looking.

  • Boot win7 from laptop after booting win 8 to go from usb

    - by user1687031
Just successfully installed and ran windows 8 to go on an external usb hdd. After shutdown and removing the usb hard disk, tried to start my laptop which has a single windows 7 system, but failed to boot and even repair trials didn't succeed. It seems that win 8 affected the strucure of the laptop hard drive which results in corruption in its main win 7 partition. How to fix that and avoid future problems of the same type? thanks.
