    Hi All, I was hoping someone can assist in describing a workaround solution to the following issue I am running into on my ASP.NET website on IE. In the following I will describe the bug and clarify the requirements of the needed solution. Repro Steps: User visits A.aspx A.aspx uses Response.Redirect to bring the user to B.aspx#house On B.aspx#house, the user clicks a button that sets window.location.hash='test' Actual Results: B.aspx is loaded again. The URL now shows B.aspx#test Expected Results: No reload. The URL will just change to B.aspx#test Requirements: Page A must redirect to page B with a fragment identifier in the url Any user action on page B will set the location.hash Setting location.hash must not make page B refresh This must work on IE Notes: Bug only repros on IE (tested on ie6|7|8). Opera, FF, Chrome, Safari all have the expected results of no reload. This error may have nothing to do with ASP.NET, and everything to do with IE For any kind soul willing to have a look at this, I have created a minimal ASP.NET web project to make it easy to repro here

  • Videoediting slow on windows with HD footage in .MOV format

    My camera is a Canon 5D mark II that serves me .mov files in HD. But these are a pain in the neck to edit on my pc. I have tried Premier, Vegas, Pinnacle, etc, but it is almost impossible to edit and do a movie. I do have a good computer with Windows7 but that doesn't help me, and I don't want to buy a new monster pc just for that task. Question: I could convert the files, but what would be the best format? I don't want to lose much quality. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Lost Internet access in Windows XP Mode virtual pc under Windows 7

    In my office, I created and configured a virtual pc in Windows XP Mode. Everything was working fine. Now I'm on the road, and my Internet access (in the host operation system) is either via a hotel wifi or through my Verizon air card. Either way, I've lost Internet access in the virtual pc. I went into the Virtual PC settings, and set the Networking value to Shared Networking (NAT). Actually, I've tried every combination I can find, but I can't get from the virtual pc to the web. I'm hoping to use the virtual box at a client site, so I really need that access. Is there anything I can do to get it back? Thanks for any help.

  • Why does Windows 7 always automatically change the input or keyboard language?

    I am wondering why Windows 7 always automatically changes my input or keyboard language. I've a notebook with an integrated QWERTY keyboard English (United States). Traveling, I use that one but, additionally, I've my own as well as a much better keyboard at home which is a QWERTZ keyboard German (Germany). Thus, being at home, I'd like to use my QWERTZ keyboard. Unfortunately, Windows 7 does not play along at this one. Every time, I start up my notebook, it is usually set to English (United States) but that's not the problem. In case, I'd use my notebook QWERTY keyboard English (United States), that's fine. However, if I start up my notebook and I'd like to use my QWERTZ keyboard German (Germany), I usually press ALT + Left Shift in order to switch from English (United States) to German (Germany) and Windows 7 switches the input language but only for the program that is currently open. If my input language is set to German (Germany) and I, e.g., open NotePad, Windows 7 automatically switches my input language to English (United States). This is very annoying since I've to change the input or keyboard language to German (Germany) every time I open up a new program. Why doesn't Windows 7 stay with one input language if I changed it manually by pressing ALT + Left Shift? Why doesn't the manual change of the input or keyboard language apply for the whole Windows 7? Why does it only affect the currently opened program? Since I've two keyboards with two different layouts, I seriously need to have both of the keyboards languages installed. I tried both of the below settings in order to find a solution for my problem. Currently, I am using the first option, two input languages.     Is there any (possibly free or open-source) virtual WDM audio driver for Windows, with additional processing plugins, which would add one more layer between windows applications and actual sound card's WDM audio driver, allowing to: Add software DSPs to general audio output. I would like to be able to use custom effects, like compressor, or stereophonic-to-binaural converter for listening online's streaming media on headphones, etc. Connect its output to some custom buffer instead of the sound card. For example, to be able to record audio, or to send audio via wireless connection to some other wireless source? Virtual audio driver was just my idea how to solve these issues - if you know other way, please share your knowledge. I need this for Windows 7 and/or Windows XP.

  • Touch gestures in IE not working without explorer.exe being run once

    Edit: Rephrasing my question: Upon further troubleshooting, I can conclude that: Touch gestures (dragging, pinch to zoom, touch-and-hold right click) in Internet Explorer start to work when: The system has been running for ~2 minutes. This coincides with the delayed start of services. Explorer.exe is being run, then killed. I assume Explorer.exe starts some services? The services with delayed start are as follows: Security Center Software Protection Windows Defender, Search and Update Windows Font Cache Service Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X64 and X86 I see no connection between these services and touch gestures, but just in case, I manually tried starting these services, but without luck. What else happens delayed after system boot, which also happens when explorer is started? Old question: Details: Internet Explorer 9 and Windows 7 Professional, running on a HP TouchSmart (touch screen PC). It is going to be a kiosk PC (running a custom GUI for displaying websites). Scenario 1: When running Internet Explorer as a normal program in Windows 7, touch functions work perfectly. I can scroll the website by dragging it with my finger, I can pinch zoom and I can touch-and-hold right click. I now change the default shell in Windows to Internet Explorer (ie. IE starts instead of explorer.exe). Internet Explorer of course starts up when logging in. However, touch functions are reduced to basic clicking (no dragging, no pinch zooming, no touch-and-hold right click). Then I manually start explorer.exe, and the touch functions work again! And here is the weird part: When I kill explorer.exe, the touch functions keeps working - even if I close IE and start a new instance. Scenario 2: The exact same, but instead of changing the default shell to Internet Explorer, I change it to my own program, which uses an embedded Internet Explorer ("WebBrowser"). Same thing happens. What I've tried: Autorun programs: When explorer.exe launches, it launches all the autorun programs. There are no relevant programs being run by explorer, but just in case, I have manually started all the autorun programs, so that it is identical (but without explorer.exe) to a normal login. It still does not work (until I launch explorer.exe). Specifically TabTip.exe, TabTip32.exe and wisptis.exe are all running. All services are also started. To sum it up Running explorer.exe once changes something in the touch capabilities of Internet Explorer. It doesn't matter if explorer.exe is running - as long as it has been run once. Does anyone know what causes this behavior? Or how I can circumvent it neatly?

  • Invoking 'Hotkey Mode' in IO Gear's GCS632U KVM Switch

    Awhile ago I changed the switch port key to left control on my IO Gear USB Switch and I'd like to change it back to Scroll Lock. When I did this, I have some memory of believing that I had found an error in the documentation for the switch regarding how to enter Hotkey Mode. Per the instructions in the manual(PDF), I'm supposed to be able to enter Hotkey Mode by Holding Scroll Lock for 2 seconds, adding Minus on the keypad for one second, and then release Minus first and within a second release Scroll lock. Ignoring the strangeness and fragility of this process, I'm looking for confirmation that this indeed works for anyone else. I can't remember why I thought it was wrong but I clearly remember that I did (I even had a blog post that I was going to write about but it got lost in the sands of time). As an aside, I'd be interested in seeing if there is any way to force a reset for the switch without entering Hotkey Mode as that would do exactly what I'm trying to do and I wouldn't have to mess with Hotkey Mode.   • How to permanently "renice" a process on Mac OS X (or iOS, etc)?

    I use a nice (free) process manager called ATMonitor for Mac OS X that has a lot of cool hidden features... one of which is being able to click on a running process.. and set the "renice" from +20 (less priority) to -20 (highest priority). The best part.... it sticks between restarts... SO you want XYZ to get full attention all the time.. you set it once and it's done... I want to do the same thing (renice a process) on an iPad running a particular daemon.. and I don't know how to set a renice permanently. I can do it once, and it works fine... But the setting is lost on a reboot. I read somewhere.. Now, as for permanently resetting the priority of a process, this can't be done directly. You can fake it, however, with a shell script that starts the app and then immediately renice's it. Give that script a ".command" extension and it will be double-clickable in the GUI. Not very elegant, but it gets the job done. But as it says.. not very elegant, and I dont think this is how ATMonitor does it.... I found this thread.... http://superuser.com and they gave a way to do it as a launch argument, but no apparent way to save it as a persistent value... for instance - if the program wasn't going to be started by launchd... How do I set a permanent renice level, per executable binary, independent of it's PID, when, how or why it was launched?

  • Error installing pkgconfig via macports

    I installed Macports 1.8.2 from a DMG. That seemed to install fine. I ran sudo port selfupdate to make sure my ports tree was current. I then tried to install bindfs as I want to mount some directories in my OS X file system (like you can do with mount --bind in linux). pkgconfig and macfuse are two dependencies of bindfs. Quoted from How to Change the IP Range for the Internet Connection Sharing DHCP service Use Registry Editor to modify the data value of the IntranetInfo value in the following registry key: Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ICSharing\Settings\General The first number listed is the IP address of the internal IP address of the Connection Sharing host. The second number is the subnet IP address separated by a comma. Enter the first IP address of the new range followed by the subnet mask, separated by a comma. (For example, 169.254.0.1,255.255.0.0.). Modify the data value of the Start value in the following registry key: Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ICSharing\Addressing\Settings Change the value to the second address of the selected IP range. This address cannot be the same or a lower value than the IP address used for the IntranetInfo key. Modify the data value for the Stop value in the same registry key. Enter the last the IP address of the selected IP range. My registry table does not have Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ICSharing, and I don't know how to do with my registry table following the above three steps. Can someone guide me through it step by step?

  • Got black screen when recording screen from xvfb by ffmpeg x11grab device

    I'm trying to record video from a firefox run by xvfb-run but it always output nothing in the video file except black screen. Here's what I did: start a firefox, open google.com: $ xvfb-run firefox https://google.com Then it will use the default display server number 99. I can see the display information by command xdpyinfo -display :99. A screenshot works very well by command: $ xwd -root -silent -display :99.0 | xwdtopnm |pnmtojpeg > screen.jpg Start using ffmpeg to record a video: $ ffmpeg -f x11grab -i :99.0 out.mpg When I play the video file out.mpg, there's black screen all the time. Is there any parameter I missed? Updates I made progress that the video works instead of black screen only by this command: $ ffmpeg -y -r 30 -g 300 -f x11grab -s 1024x768 -i :99 -vcodec qtrle out.mov Notice it requires the screen resolution matches by specify more options to xvfb-run: $ xvfb-run -s "-screen 0 1224x768x16" -a firefox http://google.com But I still want to get more feedbacks and answers here.

    I have the following class: public class Account { public int AccountID { get; set; } public Enterprise Enterprise { get; set; } public List<User> UserList { get; set; } } And I have the following method fragment: Entities.Account accountDto = new Entities.Account(); DAL.Entities.Account account; Mapper.CreateMap<DAL.Entities.Account, Entities.Account>(); Mapper.CreateMap<DAL.Entities.User, Entities.User>(); account = DAL.Account.GetByPrimaryKey(this.Database, primaryKey, withChildren); Mapper.Map(account,accountDto); return accountDto; When the method is called, the Account class gets mapped correctly but the list of users in the Account class does not (it is NULL). There are four User entities in the List that should get mapped. Could someone tell me what might be wrong?

  • mkisofs creating iso file with no error or warning but iso corrupted

    I'm trying to make a dvd from mpeg2 files. First of all i'm on windows 7. I'm using the following binaries: jpeg2yuv mpeg2enc mplex spumux dvdauthor Now everything is fine till this point absolutely no errors, but then i'm using mkisofs to make the iso file also no errors or warnings. It creates the iso file but i cannot burn it to dvd it said: The selected disk image file isn't valid. I tried it on a Mac osx as well and there the iso is worked fine. It is an NTSC iso. I'm totaly stuck with this problem any help is really appreciated.

  • VPN for a small organization

    I am in charge of a small office network that has < 10 users. I want to be able to offer them access to the network from their home internet connections. At the moment we have a regular ADSL-router-firewall to provide local network access and a fixed IP address. I know there are enterprise-level VPN solutions, but these obviously won't be available to us because of the cost and complexity. What small-scale solutions are around that you could recommend, what would we need to deploy on the client side, and what would the clients need to do to access the VPN? Simplicity and low cost need to be the keys here. Thanks

    Because there's no sudo command in Cygwin, scripts that I want to run fail with ./install.sh: line N: sudo: command not found What's the standard way for getting around this? Editing the scripts to remove sudo? Getting some sudo-like tool for windows?
