The best solution so far seems to be NPOI, this can create excel files without installing excel on the server, and has a nice API simillar to the excel interop. However i can't find a way to dump an entire datatable in excel similar to CopyFromRecordset Any tips on how to do that , or a better solution than NPOI ?

  I've a schedule tasks mechanism (very similar to DotNetNuke's) in my business logic library (a DLL that is used by ASP.Net website). When I use HttpContext.Current inside on of these tasks, it returns with a null value, because the current async thread (or task) was not initiated from a user's request. How can I use HttpContext.Current in these asynchronous threads? P.S - I think my question is more best-practices related than technical.

In case when I want to load a partial view asynchronously, the $(document).ready() piece of code in the main view loses its usefulness because none of the patial view's html tags and css naming is recognized by jquery.
