<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox5" runat="server" Font-Size="12pt" Width="92px">10</asp:TextBox>
<ajaxToolkit:NumericUpDownExtender ID="NumericUpDownExtender1" runat="server"
TargetControlID="TextBox5">
</ajaxToolkit:NumericUpDownExtender>
So... problem is : My TexBox5 becomes very small at width and it doesn't care what width I setup.
I have an update panel with a number of [asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger...] controls, and everything was working fine. But now, something keeps inserting duplicate AsyncTriggers, and instead of simply being [asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger...] controls they're [System.Web.UI.AsyncPostBackTrigger...] controls, and I get parser errors as a result.
So I delete the duplicate triggers, and they get re-inserted within a few minutes, seemingly randomly.
Anyone know whats going on here?
I'm writing an ASP.Net webform with some DropDownList controls on it. Then user changes selected item in one of dropdowns, ASP.Net doesn't seem to handle SelectedIndexChanged event until form is submitted with a 'Submit' button click.
How do I make my dropdowns handle SelectedIndexChanged instantly?
P.S. It's a classic question I have answered too many times, but it seems no one asked it before on stackoverflow.
I'm new to asp world, and I have to keep my new job :)
Switching form php to asp.net 3.5 (never used before).

I would like to use Windows Forms with a WCF service and leverage the pre-built authentication of asp.net by using aspNetCompatibilityEnabled = true in the WCF service.
Is there any module or pre-built assemblies that can add ASP.NET functionality to a Windows Forms application? As far as I understand, this functionality isn't built into Windows Forms and can't be leveraged.

Hi,
Could I use migrator.net bare migration framework and just have a set of SQL files to do the upgrade/downgrade? i.e. just use the framework to check database version and which scripts to run etc?

I have a tree view
<asp:TreeView ID="TreeView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="SiteMapDataSource1"
ShowExpandCollapse="False">
</asp:TreeView>
As you can see, root node is hidden. However when the treenode gets rendered, there is a whitespace to the left of each leafnode. This is probably because the root node is hidden but is taking up space. How do i remove that white space.
I just worked through a book on WCF and was surprised that it didn't even mention REST at all.
Was REST an afterthought for WCF that was added in .NET 3.5 SP1 and hence not baked in well or is it well integrated?
I assume that Silverlight and XBAPs can consume WCF with no problem or do they have some limitation due to their sandbox environments? I've been reading that some people are having problems getting WCF to play well with XBAP and I would assume there are similar problems with Silverlight.
Hi
We have two asp.net sites (based on episerver).
Using Telerik Asp.net controls.
We have some funtionality that we want to have availible in both sites.
Right now one of the sites use webparts/usercontrols and the other uses usercontrols.
Is there any way to share the functionality between these sites?
What I would like is to be able to share usercontrols between the sites.

I am having some problems trying to embed Gecko or Firefox into my VB.net application - specifically when running on Vista or Windows 7. Is this possible to do? Or should I look for a different alternative?
Any links to documentation would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a free third-party or .NET class that will convert HTML to RTF (for use in a rich-text enabled Windows Forms control)?
The "free" requirement comes from the fact that I'm only working on a prototype and can just load the BrowserControl and just render HTML if need be (even if it is slow) and that Developer Express is going to be releasing their own such control soon-ish.
I don't want to learn to write RTF by hand, and I already know HTML, so I figure this is the quickest way to get some demonstrable code out the door quickly.
A potential client is asking me if I can generate a thumbnail image from .eps and .ai files. The standard .NET Image class is not able to do this, so I suppose I need a 3rd party API, but I am not sure what is the best approach. Any ideas?

In vb.net how do you check if a ANY directory exists inside a directory
I would need to know if there is a folder inside the c:\windows directory (WITHOUT knowing if there is ANY directory is in there).
I am developing a C# / ASP.NET web application in VS 2008 on a 32-bit XP. I created a Login.aspx file for the user to enter a user name and password initially before seeing any data. This functionality works now from VS. I added users and roles by entering ASP.NET Configuration.
However, after publishing to IIS 6.0, the password does not work there. How do I configure Directory Security in IIS for the same user name and password to work?
So I was beating my head against a wall for a while before it dawned on me. I have some code that saves a list of names into a text file ala ...
System.IO.File.WriteAllLines(dlg.FileName, this.characterNameMasterList.Distinct().ToArray());
The character names can contain special characters. These names come from the wow armory at www.wowarmory.com There are about 26000 names or so saved in the .txt file.
The names get saved to the .txt file just fine. I wrote another application that reads these names from that .txt file using this code
// download the names from the db
var webNames = this.DownloadNames("character");
// filter names and get ones that need to be added to the db
var localNames = new List<string>(System.IO.File.ReadAllLines(dlg.FileName));
foreach (var name in webNames)
{
if (localNames.Contains(name.Trim())) localNames.Remove(name);
}
return localNames;
... the code downloads a list of names from my website that are already in the db. Then reads the local .txt file and singles out every name that is not yet in the db so it can later add it. The names that get read from the .txt file also get read just fine with no problems.
The problem comes in when removing names from the localNames list. localNames is a List type. As soon as localNames.Remove(name) gets called any names in the list that had special characters in them would get corrupted and be converted into ? characters. See for screen cap http://yfrog.com/12badcharsp
So i tried doing it another way using ...
// download the names from web that are already in the db
var webNames = this.DownloadNames("character");
// filter names and get ones that need to be added to the db
var localNames = new List<string>(System.IO.File.ReadAllLines(dlg.FileName));
int index = 0;
while (index < webNames.Count)
{
var name = webNames[index++];
var pos = localNames.IndexOf(name.Trim());
if (pos != -1) localNames.RemoveAt(pos);
}
return localNames;
.. But using localNames.RemoveAt also corrupts the items in the list converting special characters into ?.
So is this a known bug with the List.remove methods? Does anyone know? Has anyone else had this problem? I also used .NET Reflector to disassemble/inspect the list.remove and list.RemoveAt code and it appear to be calling some external Copy function.
Aside from the fact that this is prob not the best way to get a unique list of items from 2 lists am I missing something or should be aware of when using the List.Remove methods ?
I am running windows 7 vs2010 and my app is set for .net 4 (no client profile )

I'm working on a project using the entity framework code from 3.5 SP1, but although everything works great for the most part, many-to-many tables seem to need alot of workaround coding. Does anyone know if things will be easier in the next .net release?
I'm a longtime C/C++ Unix guy. I recently started work in a new position that's gonna eventually require C# and WPF (and probably some LINQ). What are the best resources to quickly come up to speed on all these Microsoft technologies? Years ago I read Petzold's book and loved it because it was so complete and by the end I really felt like I knew what I was doing... Is their something equivalent for the .NET world?
Hi,
I have a msi file. I want to get the Revision Number of this file.
I can get it by properties-summary ({690D33BD-602F-4E71-9CB5-1CF2E9593DEE})
But I want to get this number using .net code.
So can u please help me out in this...
I'm considering writing a console application in C# and I want to incorporate history, completion and command line editing features something like GNU readline (but not necessarily as extensive as that!)
Is there an existing library for .net which provides this type of functionality? I guess one option would be to use interop services to call GNU readline. But is there a native option?
Paul.
I have the following Hyperlink as a button:-
<asp:LinkButton ID="loginButton" runat="server" CssClass="loginButton" Text="LOGIN" OnClientClick="return validateLogin(memNoID,pwID)" AddressOf="loginButton.Click"></asp:LinkButton>
It causes a postback but only executes the onload and prerender sections of code. It totally ignores the following function signature:-
Protected Sub loginButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Some code
End Sub
Any pointers appreciated.
