  • NHibernate : Root collection with an root object

    - by Daniel
Hi, I want to track a list of root objects which are not contained by any element. I want the following pseudo code to work: IList<FavoriteItem> list = session.Linq<FavoriteItem>().ToList(); list.Add(item1); list.Add(item2); list.Remove(item3); list.Remove(item4); var item5 = list.First(i => i.Name = "Foo"); item5.Name = "Bar"; session.Save(list); This should automatically insert item1 and item2, delete item3 and item3 and update item5 (i.e. I don't want to call sesssion.SaveOrUpdate() for all items separately. Is it possible to define a pseudo entity that is not associated with a table? For example I want to define the class Favorites and map 2 collection properties of it and than I want to write code like this: var favs = session.Linq<Favorites>(); favs.FavoriteColors.Add(new FavoriteColor(...)); favs.FavoriteMovies.Add(new FavoriteMovie(...)); session.SaveOrUpdate(favs); FavoriteColors and FavoriteMovies are the only properties of the Favorites class and are of type IList and IList. I do only want to persist the these two collection properties but not the Favorites class. Any help is much appreciated.

  • HTML table cells not properly aligned

    - by Yuval A
I have the following HTML table: <table style="width: 100%;"> <tr> <td class="title_bar_left_border"></td> <td class="title_bar_middle"></td> <td class="title_bar_right_border"></td> </tr> </table> With the following css rules: .title_bar_left_border { BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(tray_left.gif); WIDTH: 3px; HEIGHT: 24px; } .title_bar_right_border { BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(tray_right.gif); WIDTH: 3px; HEIGHT: 24px; } .title_bar_middle { BACKGROUND-IMAGE: url(tray_middle.gif); WIDTH: 100%; BACKGROUND-REPEAT: repeat-x; HEIGHT: 24px; } Any idea why this is the result? Instead of getting a nice table header with rounded corners you get this weird gap between the cells. Where are the gaps coming from? Besides fixing this ugly issue, I would like to understand the rationale as to why all browsers render the HTML this way.

  • Questions on Juval Lowy's IDesign C# Coding Standard

    - by Jan
We are trying to use the IDesign C# Coding standard. Unfortunately, I found no comprehensive document to explain all the rules that it gives, and also his book does not always help. Here are the open questions that remain for me (from chapter 2, Coding Practices): No. 26: Avoid providing explicit values for enums unless they are integer powers of 2 No. 34: Always explicitly initialize an array of reference types using a for loop No. 50: Avoid events as interface members No. 52: Expose interfaces on class hierarchies No. 73: Do not define method-specific constraints in interfaces No. 74: Do not define constraints in delegates Here's what I think about those: I thought that providing explicit values would be especially useful when adding new enum members at a later point in time. If these members are added between other already existing members, I would provide explicit values to make sure the integer representation of existing members does not change. No idea why I would want to do this. I'd say this totally depends on the logic of my program. I see that there is alternative option of providing "Sink interfaces" (simply providing already all "OnXxxHappened" methods), but what is the reason to prefer one over the other? Unsure what he means here: Could this mean "When implementing an interface explicitly in a non-sealed class, consider providing the implementation in a protected virtual method that can be overridden"? (see Programming .NET Components 2nd Edition, end of chapter “Interfaces and Class Hierarchies”). I suppose this is about providing a "where" clause when using generics, but why is this bad on an interface? I suppose this is about providing a "where" clause when using generics, but why is this bad on a delegate?

  • AJAX Request Erroring

    - by 30secondstosam
I can not figure out for the life of me why this is erroring - can someone please cast a second pair of eyes over this - it's probably something really stupid, thanks in advance for the help: EDIT Stupidly I was putting the wrong URL in - HOWEVER... Now I have put the correct URL in, the site just hangs and crashes. Any ideas please? • How to create anonymous objects of type IQueryable using LINQ

    - by Soham Dasgupta
Hi, I'm working in an ASP.NET MVC project where I have created a two LinqToSQL classes. I have also created a repository class for the models and I've implemented some methods like LIST, ADD, SAVE in that class which serves the controller with data. Now in one of the repository classes I have pulled some data with LINQ joins like this. private HerculesCompanyDataContext Company = new HerculesCompanyDataContext(); private HerculesMainDataContext MasterData = new HerculesMainDataContext(); public IQueryable TRFLIST() { var info = from trfTable in Company.TRFs join exusrTable in MasterData.ex_users on trfTable.P_ID equals exusrTable.EXUSER select new { trfTable.REQ_NO, trfTable.REQ_DATE, exusrTable.USER_NAME, exusrTable.USER_LNAME, trfTable.FROM_DT, trfTable.TO_DT, trfTable.DESTN, trfTable.TRAIN, trfTable.CAR, trfTable.AIRPLANE, trfTable.TAXI, trfTable.TPURPOSE, trfTable.STAT, trfTable.ROUTING }; return info; } Now when I call this method from my controller I'm unable to get a list. What I want to know is without creating a custom data model class how can I return an object of anonymous type like IQueryable. And because this does not belong to any one data model how can refer to this list in the view.

  • How do I pass dependency to object with Castle Windsor and MS Test?

    - by Nick
I am trying to use Castle Windsor with MS Test. The test class only seems to use the default constructor. How do I configure Castle to resolve the service in the constructor? Here is the Test Class' constructors: private readonly IWebBrowser _browser; public DepressionSummaryTests() { } public DepressionSummaryTests(IWebBrowser browser) { _browser = browser; } My component in the app config looks like so: <castle> <components> <component id="browser" service="ConversationSummary.IWebBrowser, ConversationSummary" type="ConversationSummary.Browser" /> </components> </castle> Here is my application container: public class ApplicationContainer : WindsorContainer { private static IWindsorContainer container; static ApplicationContainer() { container = new WindsorContainer(new XmlInterpreter(new ConfigResource("castle"))); } private static IWindsorContainer Container { get { return container; } } public static IWebBrowser Browser { get { return (IWebBrowser) Container.Resolve("browser"); } } } MS test requires the default constructor. What am I missing? Thanks!

  • Why does my floating div push around other divs?

    - by Meke
    I have a div which has a table which has a google map. I want to place a info box within the google map external to the map, just floating on top But I can't seem to get it right, the info div just pushes around the google map despite being on top of the map... CSS .google_map { height: 270px; width: 100%; } #flightMapInfo { position: relative; float: left; z-index: 100; color: #FFFFFF; top: 30px; left: 50px; background:#5a85a5; padding: 5px; -moz-border-radius: 10px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px; } div.tabContent { border: 1px solid #c9c3ba; padding: 0.5em; background-color: #f1f0ee; min-height: 300px; } .tableLeft { width: 75%; float: left; border-right: dotted 2px black; } HTML <div class="mapBlock tabContent"> <div id="flightMapInfo">WHARGL</div> <table class="tableLeft"> <tr><td><div id="flightMap" class="google_map"></div> </table></td></tr></div>

  • Changing type of object in a conditional

    - by David Doria
I'm having a bit of trouble with dynamic_casting. I need to determine at runtime the type of an object. Here is a demo: include include class PersonClass { public: std::string Name; virtual void test(){}; //it is annoying that this has to be here... }; class LawyerClass : public PersonClass { public: void GoToCourt(){}; }; class DoctorClass : public PersonClass { public: void GoToSurgery(){}; }; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { PersonClass* person = new PersonClass; if(true) { person = dynamic_cast(person); } else { person = dynamic_cast(person); } person-GoToCourt(); return 0; } I would like to do the above. The only legal way I found to do it is to define all of the objects before hand: PersonClass* person = new PersonClass; LawyerClass* lawyer; DoctorClass* doctor; if(true) { lawyer = dynamic_cast(person); } else { doctor = dynamic_cast(person); } if(true) { lawyer-GoToCourt(); } The main problem with this (besides having to define a bunch of objects that won't be use) is that I have to change the name of the 'person' variable. Is there a better way? (I am not allowed to change any of the classes (Person, Lawyer, or Doctor) because they are part of a library that people who will use my code have and won't want to change). Thanks, Dave

  • Omit Properties from WebControl Serialization

    - by Laramie
I have to serialize several objects inheriting from WebControl for database storage. These include several unecessary (to me) properties that I would prefer to omit from serialization. For example BackColor, BorderColor, etc. Here is an example of an XML serialization of one of my controls inheriting from WebControl. <Control xsi:type="SerializePanel"> <ID>grCont</ID> <Controls /> <BackColor /> <BorderColor /> <BorderWidth /> <CssClass>grActVid bwText</CssClass> <ForeColor /> <Height /> <Width /> ... </Control> I have been trying to create a common base class for my controls that inherits from WebControl and uses the "xxxSpecified" trick to selectively choose not to serialize certain properties. For example to ignore an empty BorderColor property, I'd expect [XmlIgnore] public bool BorderColorSpecified() { return !base.BorderColor.IsEmpty; } to work, but it's never called during serialization. I've also tried it in the class to be serialized as well as the base class. Since the classes themselves might change, I'd prefer not to have to create a custom serializer. Any ideas?

  • Sending data back to Controller Spring-MVC

    - by Umesh Awasthi
I am not sure if this is a complex problem but as a starting person this seems a bit complex to me. I have an object based on which i need to show some values on the UI and let user select some of them, i need to send data back to another controller when user click on the submit button. Here is the structure of my data object public class PrsData{ private Map<String, List<PrsCDData>> prsCDData; } public class PrsCDData{ private Map<String, Collection<ConfiguredDesignData>> configuredDesignData; } public ConfiguredDesignData{ // simple fields } I have set the object in model before showing the view like model.addAttribute("prsData", productData.getPrData()); In the form i have following settings <form:form method="post" commandName="prsData" action="${addProductToCartAction}" > <form:hidden path="prsCDData['${prsCDDataMap.key}'] [${status.index}].configuredDesignData['${configuredDesignDataMap.key}'] [${configuredDesignDataStatus.index}].code"/> <form:hidden path="prsCDData['${prsCDDataMap.key}'] [${status.index}].configuredDesignData['${configuredDesignDataMap.key}'] [${configuredDesignDataStatus.index}].description"/> </form:form> This is what i have at AddProductToCartController public String addToCart(@RequestParam("productCodePost") final String code, @ModelAttribute("prsData") final PrsData prsData, final Model model, @RequestParam(value = "qty", required = false, defaultValue = "1") final long qty) On submitting the form i am getting following exception org.springframework.beans.NullValueInNestedPathException: Invalid property 'prsCDData[Forced][0]' of bean class [com.product.data.PrsData]: Cannot access indexed value of property referenced in indexed property path 'prsCDData[Forced][0]': returned null It seems like its trying to access the values on this controller while i am trying to send value to that controller and trying to create same object with selected values Can any one tell me where i am doing wrong and what i need to take care of

  • FLEX, how to specify parent html item, when I call external functions ?

    - by Patrick
    hi, I'm calling a javascript function from my flex application to set width and height of my html wrapper according to application size. However, I've many flex applications on my page and the wrappers have not id attribute. I'm using a unique javascript function and passing it the parameters. How could I specify the "parent" html element in these parameters ? Following is the code: Actionscript: if (ExternalInterface.available) ExternalInterface.call("changeSize",id, width, height); Javascript: <script type="text/JavaScript"> function changeSize(id, width, height) { console.log(id); console.log(width); console.log(height); } Wrapper: <div class="filefield-file clear-block"> <div class="filefield-icon field-icon-video-x-flv"> <img class="field-icon-video-x-flv" alt="video/x-flv icon" src="http://localhost/drupal/sites/all/modules/filefield/icons/protocons/16x16/mimetypes/video-x-generic.png"></div> <div style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); width: 400px;"> <embed style="display: block;" src="/drupal/videoPlayer.swf?file=http://localhost/drupal/sites/default/files/files/projects/Project3/videos/9565274.flv" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" bgcolor="#ffffff" allowfullscreen="true" autoplay="true" flashvars="file=http://localhost/drupal/sites/default/files/files/projects/Project3/videos/9565274.flv" height="400" width="400"> <div>Scheduling Video</div> </div> </div>

  • PHP Object Access Syntax Question with the $

    - by ImperialLion
I've been having trouble searching for this answer because I am not quite sure how to phrase it. I am new to PHP and still getting my feet on the ground. I was writing a page with a class in it that had the property name. When I originally wrote the page there was no class so I just had a variable called $name. When I went to encapsulate it in a class I accidental changed it to be $myClass->$name. It tool me a while to realize that the syntax I needed was $myClass->name. The reason it took so long was the error I kept getting was "Attempt to access a null property" or something along those lines. The error lead me to believe it was a data population error. My question is does $myClass->$name have a valid meaning? In other words is there a time you would use this and a reason why it doesn't create a syntax error? If so what is the semantic meaning of that code? When would I use it if it is valid? If its not valid, is there a reason that it doesn't create a syntax error?

  • HTML input not working correctly with AJAX update panels used else where on page

    - by Sean P
I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout. Here is my code: <div id="divFileInputs" runat="server"> <input id="file1" name="fileInput" type="file" runat="server" size="50" style="width: 50em" onfocus="AddFileInput()" class="textbox" /></div> <select id="selectFileList" name="ListBox1" size="5" style="width: 50em; text-align: left;" class="textbox" /> <input id="RemoveAttachmentButton" type="button" value="Remove" onclick="RemoveFileInput()" class="removebutton " /> </div> Here is my code behind: Protected Sub CopyAttachments(ByVal issueId As String) Dim files As HttpFileCollection = Request.Files Dim myStream As System.IO.Stream Dim service As New SubmitService.Service For i As Integer = 0 To files.Count - 1 Dim postedFile As HttpPostedFile = files(i) Dim fileNameWithoutPath As String = System.IO.Path.GetFileName(postedFile.FileName) If fileNameWithoutPath.Length > 0 And issueId.Length > 0 Then Dim fileLength As Integer = postedFile.ContentLength Dim fileContents(fileLength) As Byte ' Read the file into the byte array. Send it to the web service. myStream = postedFile.InputStream myStream.Read(fileContents, 0, fileLength) service.ClearQuestAttachToIssue(issueId, fileNameWithoutPath, fileContents) End If Next service = Nothing End Sub When I put a breakpoint in at the declaration of service and then check the value of "files", the count is 0. I am expecting it to be 2 when i have one file uploaded. Anyone know how to fix this?

  • Join with Three Tables

    - by John
Hello, In MySQL, I am using the following three tables (their fields are listed after their titles): comment: commentid loginid submissionid comment datecommented login: loginid username password email actcode disabled activated created points submission: submissionid loginid title url displayurl datesubmitted I would like to display "datecommented" and "comment" for a given "username," where "username" equals a variable called $profile. I would also like to make the "comment" a hyperlink to http://www...com/.../comments/index.php?submission='.$rowc["title"].'&submissionid='.$rowc["submissionid"].'&url='.$rowc["url"].'&countcomments='.$rowc["countComments"].'&submittor='.$rowc["username"].'&submissiondate='.$rowc["datesubmitted"].'&dispurl='.$rowc["displayurl"].' where countComments equals COUNT(c.commentid) and $rowc is part of the query listed below. • C# threading solution for long queries

    - by Eddie
Senerio We have an application that records incidents. An external database needs to be queried when an incident is approved by a supervisor. The queries to this external database are sometimes taking a while to run. This lag is experienced through the browser. Possible Solution I want to use threading to eliminate the simulated hang to the browser. I have used the Thread class before and heard about ThreadPool. But, I just found BackgroundWorker in this post. MSDN states: The BackgroundWorker class allows you to run an operation on a separate, dedicated thread. Time-consuming operations like downloads and database transactions can cause your user interface (UI) to seem as though it has stopped responding while they are running. When you want a responsive UI and you are faced with long delays associated with such operations, the BackgroundWorker class provides a convenient solution. Is BackgroundWorker the way to go when handling long running queries? What happens when 2 or more BackgroundWorker processes are ran simultaneously? Is it handled like a pool?

  • SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server

    - by dev_darin
I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? • Using Visual Studio 2010 Express to create a surface I can draw to

    - by Joel
I'm coming from a Java background and trying to port a simple version of Conway's Game of Life that I wrote to C# in order to learn the language. In Java, I drew my output by inheriting from JComponent and overriding paint(). My new canvas class then had an instance of the simulation's backend which it could read/manipulate. I was then able to get the WYSIWYG GUI editor (Matisse, from NetBeans) to allow me to visually place the canvas. In C#, I've gathered that I need to override OnPaint() to draw things, which (as far as I know) requires me to inherit from something (I chose Panel). I can't figure out how to get the Windows forms editor to let me place my custom class. I'm also uncertain about where in the generated code I need to place my class. How can I do this, and is putting all my drawing code into a subclass really how I should be going about this? The lack of easy answers on Google suggests I'm missing something important here. If anyone wants to suggest a method for doing this in WPF as well, I'm curious to hear it. Thanks

  • Constructor and Destructors in C++ work?

    - by Jack
I am using gcc. Please tell me if I am wrong - Lets say I have two classes A & B class A { public: A(){cout<<"A constructor"<<endl;} ~A(){cout<<"A destructor"<<endl;} }; class B:public A { public: B(){cout<<"B constructor"<<endl;} ~B(){cout<<"B destructor"<<endl;} }; 1) The first line in B's constructor should be a call to A's constructor ( I assume compiler automatically inserts it). Also the last line in B's destructor will be a call to A's destructor (compiler does it again). Why was it built this way? 2) When I say A * a = new B(); compiler creates a new B object and checks to see if A is a base class of B and if it is it allows 'a' to point to the newly created object. I guess that is why we don't need any virtual constructors. ( with help from @Tyler McHenry , @Konrad Rudolph) 3) When I write delete a compiler sees that a is an object of type A so it calls A's destructor leading to a problem which is solved by making A's destructor virtual. As user - Little Bobby Tables pointed out to me all destructors have the same name destroy() in memory so we can implement virtual destructors and now the call is made to B's destructor and all is well in C++ land. • Prevent duplicate entries in arraylist

    - by timyh
Say I create some object class like so public class thing { private String name; private Integer num; public oDetails (String a, Integer b) { name = a; num = b; } ...gets/ sets/ etc Now I want to create an arraylist to hold a number of this object class like so. ArrayList<thing> myList = new ArrayList<thing>; thing first = new thing("Star Wars", 3); thing second = new thing("Star Wars", 1); myList.add(first); myList.add(second); I would like to include some sort of logic so that in this case...when we try and add object "second" rather than add a new object to the arrayList, we add second.getNum() to first.getNum(). So if you were to iterate through the ArrayList it would be "Star Wars", 4 I am having trouble coming up with an elegant way of handling this. And as the arraylist grows, searching through it to determine if there are duplicate name items becomes cumbersome. Can anyone provide some guidance on this?

  • WCF: collection proxy type on client

    - by Unholy
    I have the following type in wsdl (it is generated by third party tool): <xsd:complexType name="IntArray"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0" name="Elements" type="xsd:int" /> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType> Sometimes Visual Studio generates: public class IntArray : System.Collections.Generic.List<int> {} And sometimes it doesn't generate any proxy type for this wsdl and just uses int[]. Collection type in Web Service configuration is System.Array. What could be the reason for such upredictable behavior? Edited: I found the way how I can reproduce this behavior. For examle we have two types: <xsd:complexType name="IntArray"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0" name="Elements" type="xsd:int" /> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType> <xsd:complexType name="StringArray"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0" name="Elements" type="xsd:string" /> </xsd:sequence> </xsd:complexType> VS generates: public class IntArray : System.Collections.Generic.List<int> {} public class StringArray : System.Collections.Generic.List<string> {} Now I change StringArray type: <xsd:complexType name="StringArray"> <xsd:sequence> <xsd:element maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0" name="Elements" type="xsd:string" /> <xsd:any minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" namespace="##any" processContents="lax" /> </xsd:sequence> <xsd:anyAttribute namespace="##any" processContents="lax"/> </xsd:complexType> VS generates proxy type for StringArray only. But not for IntArray.

  • How can I qualify an autowired property with a variable from a config file using annotations?

    - by jiggy
    My specific problem is that I have configured two beans that implement the same interface and I have a third bean that has a property of that interface's type. I inject the property using a config property. So, assuming RemoteDataSource and LocalDataSource implement IDataSource and dao1 has a property of type IDataSource, my XML config might look like this: <bean id="datasource1" class="com.foo.RemoteDataSource"> <property name="url">${url}</property> </bean> <bean id="datasource2" class="com.foo.LocalDataSource"> <property name="path">${filepath}</property> </bean> <bean id="dao1" class="com.foo.MyDAO"> <property name="dataSource">${datasource}</property> </bean> With url, filepath and datasource being defined in an included properties file. We are now making a push for annotation-driven configuration and I'm not sure how to annotate my dao to put the data source configured in the property file. I want to do something like this, but it is evidently not allowed: @Autowired @Qualifier("${datasource}") public void setDataSource(IDataSource datasource) {...}

  • How do you use boost iterators

    - by Neil G
    It worked, and then I added the typedefs so that I could have a const_sparse_iterator as well. Now, when I compile this and try to use sparse_iterator, it says: /Users/neilrg/nn/src/./core/sparse_vector.h:331: error: invalid use of incomplete type 'struct sparse_vector<A>::sparse_iterator' Here's the code. More code here. tempalte<typename T> class sparse_vector { // There is more code at my previous question, but this might be enough...? private: template<typename base_type> class sparse_iterator_private : public boost::iterator_adaptor< sparse_iterator_private<base_type> // Derived , base_type // Base , value_type // Value , boost::random_access_traversal_tag // CategoryOrTraversal > { private: struct enabler {}; // a private type avoids misuse public: sparse_iterator_private() : sparse_iterator_private<base_type>::iterator_adaptor_(0) {} explicit sparse_iterator_private(typename array_type::iterator&& p) : sparse_iterator_private<base_type>::iterator_adaptor_(p) {} private: friend class boost::iterator_core_access; reference dereference() const { return this->base()->value; } }; public: typedef sparse_iterator_private<typename array_type::iterator> sparse_iterator; typedef sparse_iterator_private<typename array_type::const_iterator> const_sparse_iterator; };
