  • Scaling gwt's "Contacts" (sample project) AppController with MVP

    - by brad
    I'm just learning GWT so I'm still trying to sort out all of its quirks and features. I'm reading through the example they give illustrating the MVP pattern, and I pretty much get it, except I'm wondering about one thing. The AppController they use implements the ValueChangeHandler interface and the onValueChange method is triggered when history changes. My problem is with this onValueChange in the AppController (i've included it below for anyone who hasn't seen the sample project). It's doing a string comparison on the history token sent in and instantiating the appropriate presenter to handle the action. This is all fine and dandy for the sample app with 3 actions, but how would one scale this to a real app with many more actions? Sticking to this pattern would lead to a pretty large/ugly else if, but I'm still too new to GWT (and java) to infer a better pattern for larger apps. Any help is greatly appreciated! public class AppController implements Presenter, ValueChangeHandler<String> { ... public void onValueChange(ValueChangeEvent<String> event) { String token = event.getValue(); if (token != null) { Presenter presenter = null; if (token.equals("list")) { presenter = new ContactsPresenter(rpcService, eventBus, new ContactsView()); } else if (token.equals("add")) { presenter = new EditContactPresenter(rpcService, eventBus, new EditContactView()); } else if (token.equals("edit")) { presenter = new EditContactPresenter(rpcService, eventBus, new EditContactView()); } if (presenter != null) { presenter.go(container); } } } }

  • Invalid length for a Base-64 char array.

    - by Code Sherpa
As the title says, I am getting: Invalid length for a Base-64 char array. I have read about this problem on here and it seems that the suggestion is to store ViewState in SQL if it is large. I am using a wizard with a good deal of data collection so chances are my ViewSate is large. But, before I turn to the "store-in-DB" solution, maybe somebody can take a look and tell me if I have other options? I construct the email for delivery using the below method: public void SendEmailAddressVerificationEmail(string userName, string to) { string msg = "Please click on the link below or paste it into a browser to verify your email account.<BR><BR>" + "<a href=\"" + _configuration.RootURL + "Accounts/VerifyEmail.aspx?a=" + userName.Encrypt("verify") + "\">" + _configuration.RootURL + "Accounts/VerifyEmail.aspx?a=" + userName.Encrypt("verify") + "</a>"; SendEmail(to, "", "", "Account created! Email verification required.", msg); } The Encrypt method looks like this: public static string Encrypt(string clearText, string Password) { byte[] clearBytes = System.Text.Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(clearText); PasswordDeriveBytes pdb = new PasswordDeriveBytes(Password, new byte[] { 0x49, 0x76, 0x61, 0x6e, 0x20, 0x4d, 0x65, 0x64, 0x76, 0x65, 0x64, 0x65, 0x76 }); byte[] encryptedData = Encrypt(clearBytes, pdb.GetBytes(32), pdb.GetBytes(16)); return Convert.ToBase64String(encryptedData); } On the receiving end, the VerifyEmail.aspx.cs page has the line: string username = Cryptography.Decrypt(_webContext.UserNameToVerify, "verify"); And the decrypt method looks like: public static string Decrypt(string cipherText, string password) { **// THE ERROR IS THROWN HERE!!** byte[] cipherBytes = Convert.FromBase64String(cipherText); Can this error be remedied with a code fix or must I store ViewState in the database? Thanks in advance.

  • Pause code execution until UIAlertView button is pressed?

    - by JuBu1324
One of my methods sends a message to an object (what do you know about that), and expects a BOOL for an answer. However, BOOL answer it is expecting is based on the answer to a UIAlertView created in the receiving object's method. However, the code doesn't pause while waiting for the user to answer the UIAlertView. My problem is: how do I use -alertView:clickedButtonAtIndex in the method's return value? Here's the code the message runs (in this construction, I was expecting navigateAwayFromTab to change based on the user input in the UIAlertView, but it never gets a chance): - (BOOL)readyToNavigateAwayFromTab { NSLog( @"message received by Medical View"); navigateAwayFromTab = NO; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Navigate Away From Tab?" message:@"Navigating away from this tab will save your work." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:@"OK", nil ]; [alert show]; [alert release]; return navigateAwayFromTab; } #define CANCEL 0 #define OK 1 - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if( buttonIndex == OK ) navigateAwayFromTab = YES; } I've been reading up on the modal UIAlertView debate, and I agree with apple's implementation - at lest as the rule. However, in this case I don't see any way of solving the problem by putting code in -alertView:clickedButtonAtIndex because I don't need to run code based on the UIAlertView, I just need to read the response. Any suggestions on how I can reach my gaol? I've tried a while loop after [alert show] already, but then the alert doesn't even show then, and for a number of reasons I can't use -viewWillDisapear.

  • UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp in landscape mode transitioning right-to-left

    - by Thanos
I have a view controller that is showing in portrait mode. When you touch the "menu" button, it calls the code below and it flips up to the MainMenu controller. So far, so good. - (void) menuButton: (id) sender { MainMenu_ViewController * viewController = [[MainMenu_ViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainMenu_ViewController" bundle:nil]; self.menuView = viewController.view; self.menuView.frame = self.view.bounds; [viewController release]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context: nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration: 1.0]; [UIView setAnimationTransition: UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView: self.view cache: YES]; [self.view addSubview: self.menuView]; [UIView commitAnimations]; } However, when you do the same in landscape mode, instead of the animation flipping up (with respect to gravity, i.e. towards the long end of the iPhone) it flips towards the left (i.e. towards the short end of the iPhone). Is this a limitation of the animation, or am I missing something?

  • MATLAB Builder NE crash apppool on IIS 7.5

    - by Alkersan
Im developing a web user interface for MATLAB functions with ASP.NET. Ive started with studying demos and stucked with such problem. I created a MyComponent.dll assembly with deploytool from MATLAB 2010a, target framework - 3.5. This component has one function GetKnot() which returns a figure. function df = getKnot() f = figure('Visible', 'off'); knot; df = webfigure(f); close(f); end Then I made simple webapp in visual studio 2008 sp1, with only one page Default.aspx. I added references to MWArray.dll, WebFiguresService.dll and MyComponent.dll. The codeBehind is: using System; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using MyComponent; using MathWorks.MATLAB.NET.WebFigures; namespace MATLAB_WebApplication { public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { var myComponentClass = new MyComponentClass(); var x = myComponentClass.getKnot(); //WebFigureControl1.WebFigure = new WebFigure(); } } } When I run this page on Visual Studio`s Development web server - everything is fine, figure works. But when I`m trying to deploy webfigure on my local iis 7.5 which runs on Win7 x32 - iis app pool crashes. There is an entry in System Event Log "A process serving application pool 'Classic .NET AppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '3676'. The data field contains the error number 6D000780". This happens when MyComponent is instantiating. What I could forget when moved to IIS? Other examples, like magic square console application, runs perfect, and every matlab component instantiating, but not in IIS environment.

  • calling CreateFile, specifying FILE_ATTRIBUTE_TEMPORARY | FILE_FLAG_DELETE_ON_CLOSE.

    - by alexander-daniels
Before I describe my problem, here is a description of the program I'm writting: This is a C++ application. The purpose of my program is to create file on RAM memory. I read that if specify FILE_ATTRIBUTE_TEMPORARY | FILE_FLAG_DELETE_ON_CLOSE when creating file it will be loaded direct to the RAM memory. One of blogs that talk about is this one: http://blogs.msdn.com/larryosterman/archive/2004/04/19/116084.aspx I have built a mini-program, but it not achieves the goal. Instead, it creates a file on hard-drive on directory I specify. Here's my program: void main () { LPCWSTR str = L"c:\temp.txt"; HANDLE fh = CreateFile(str,GENERIC_WRITE,0,NULL,CREATE_ALWAYS, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_TEMPORARY | FILE_FLAG_DELETE_ON_CLOSE,NULL); if (fh == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) { printf ("Could not open TWO.TXT"); return; } DWORD dwBytesWritten; for (long i=0; i<20000000; i++) { WriteFile(fh, "This is a test\r\n", 16, &dwBytesWritten, NULL); } return; } I think there problem in CreateFile function, but I can't fix it. Please help me.

  • Export to Excel from ASP.NET produces files unreadable with Excel Viewer

    - by MainMa
Hi, I want to output some dynamic data from an ASP.NET website to Excel. I found that the easiest way which does not require to use Excel XML or to install Excel on server machine is to output data as a table and specify application/vnd.ms-excel type. The problem is when I do so and try to open the file in Excel Viewer, I receive the following error message: Microsoft Excel Viewer cannot open files of this type. Then nothing is opened. Even an easiest code such as: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Response.Clear(); Response.Buffer = true; HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=Example.xls"); Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; StringWriter stringWriter = new System.IO.StringWriter(); HtmlTextWriter htmlTextWriter = new System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter(stringWriter); dataGrid.RenderControl(htmlTextWriter); Response.Write("<html><body><table><tr><td>A</td><td>B</td></tr><tr><td>C</td><td>D</td></tr></table></body></html>"); Response.End(); } produces the same error. What can cause such behavior? Is it because the Viewer cannot read such files, but full Excel version can?

  • Problem adding Contact with new API

    - by Mike
Hello, I am trying to add a new contact to my contact list using the new ContactContract API via my application. I have the following method based on the Contact Manager example on android dev. private static void addContactCore(Context context, String accountType, String accountName, String name, String phoneNumber, int phoneType) throws RemoteException, OperationApplicationException { ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation> ops = new ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation>(); //Add contact type ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.RawContacts.CONTENT_URI) .withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_TYPE, accountType) .withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_NAME, accountName) .build()); //Add contact name ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.Data.CONTENT_URI) .withValueBackReference(ContactsContract.Data.RAW_CONTACT_ID, 0) .withValue(ContactsContract.Data.MIMETYPE, ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredName.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredName.DISPLAY_NAME, (!name.toLowerCase().equals("unavailable") && !name.equals("")) ? name : phoneNumber) .build()); //Add phone number ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.Data.CONTENT_URI) .withValueBackReference(ContactsContract.Data.RAW_CONTACT_ID, 0) .withValue(ContactsContract.Data.MIMETYPE, ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER, phoneNumber) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.TYPE, phoneType) .build()); //Add contact context.getContentResolver().applyBatch(ContactsContract.AUTHORITY, ops); } In one example I have the flowing values for the parameters. accountType:com.google accountName:(my google account email) name:Mike phoneNumber:5555555555 phoneType:3 The call to the function returns normally without any exception being thrown however the contact is no where to be found in the contact manager on my phone. There is also no contact with that information on my phone already. Does anyone have any insight into what I might be doing wrong?

  • IComparer using Lambda Expression

    - by josephj1989
class p { public string Name { get; set; } public int Age { get; set; } }; static List<p> ll = new List<p> { new p{Name="Jabc",Age=53},new p{Name="Mdef",Age=20}, new p{Name="Exab",Age=45},new p{Name="G123",Age=19} }; protected static void SortList() { IComparer<p> mycomp = (x, y) => x.Name.CompareTo(y.Name); <==(Line 1) ll.Sort((x, y) => x.Name.CompareTo(y.Name));<==(Line 2) } Here the List.sort expects an IComparer<p> as a parameter. And it works with the lambda as shown in Line 2. But when I try to do as in Line 1, I get an error: Cannot convert lambda expression to type System.Collections.Generic.IComparer' because it is not a delegate type I investigated this for quite some time but I still don't understand it. Maybe my understanding of IComparer is not quite good.

  • SQLite table does not exist exception for existing SQLite database (and table)

    - by SK9
I've followed the instructions given here for introducing an existing SQLite database to your Android app. When I query the table "android_metadata" this is fine. But when I run a similar query on my own table "words" (which has _id for primary integer key) I get a table does not exist exception and the app crashes. Why is that? Code: Cursor c = myDatabase.query("android_metadata", null, null, null, null, null, null, null); works but Cursor c = myDatabase.query("words", null, null, null, null, null, null, null); returns a table does not exist exception. This is how I'm creating the database (the references to paths and filenames are correct): private void copyDatabase() throws IOException{ //Open local db as the input stream InputStream myInput = mContext.getAssets().open(DB_NAME); //Path to the just created empty db String outFileName = DB_PATH + DB_NAME; //Open the empty db as the output stream OutputStream myOutput = new FileOutputStream(outFileName); //Transfer bytes from the inputfile to the outputfile byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; int length; while ((length = myInput.read(buffer))>0){ myOutput.write(buffer, 0, length); } //Close the streams myOutput.flush(); myOutput.close(); myInput.close(); } (Note: To my eyes, the table is there. I'm looking right at it in my SQLite browser.)

  • Cannot create list in SharePoint 2010 using Client Object Model

  • comparison between string literal

    - by wiso
This very simple code: #include <iostream> using namespace std; void exec(char* option) { cout << "option is " << option << endl; if (option == "foo") cout << "option foo"; else if (option == "bar") cout << "opzion bar"; else cout << "???"; cout << endl; } int main() { char opt[] = "foo"; exec(opt); return 0; } generate two warning: comparison with string literal results in unspecified behaviour. Can you explain why exactly this code doesn't work, but if I change char opt[] to char *opt it works, but generates the warning? Is it related to the \0 termination? What is the difference between the two declaration of opt? What if I use const qualifier? The solution is to use std::string?

  • EWS: RemoveExtendedProperty throws error when used on an occurrence of a recurring appointment

    - by flyfishnjake
I am developing an application that syncs an exchange calendar to another calendar. I put extended properties on the exchange appointments in order to preserve the mapping between appointments in the two calendars. Everything is working fine until I try to remove an extended property from an occurrence of a recurring appointment. When I try doing this, I get the error: The delete action is not supported for this property. Here is a code snippet that demonstrates the error: public void ExchangeTest() { ExchangeService service = new ExchangeService(ExchangeVersion.Exchange2007_SP1) { Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password", "domain") }; service.AutodiscoverUrl("[email protected]"); Appointment appt = new Appointment(service) { Recurrence = new Recurrence.DailyPattern(DateTime.Now, 2) { NumberOfOccurrences = 3}, Start = DateTime. Now, End = DateTime.Now.AddHours(2), Subject = "Test Appointment" }; NameResolutionCollection resolutionCollection = service.ResolveName("username", ResolveNameSearchLocation.DirectoryOnly, false); string mailboxAddress = resolutionCollection.First().Mailbox.Address; FolderId folderId = new FolderId(WellKnownFolderName.Calendar, mailboxAddress); appt.Save(folderId); PropertySet properties = new PropertySet(AppointmentSchema.ICalUid); appt.Load(properties); CalendarView view = new CalendarView(DateTime.Today, DateTime.Today.AddDays(8)){PropertySet = properties}; IEnumerable<Appointment> occurrences = service.FindAppointments(folderId, view) .Where(a => a.ICalUid == appt.ICalUid); ExtendedPropertyDefinition definition = new ExtendedPropertyDefinition(DefaultExtendedPropertySet.PublicStrings, "TestProperty", MapiPropertyType.String); Appointment firstOccurrence = occurrences.First(); firstOccurrence.SetExtendedProperty(definition, "test"); firstOccurrence.Update(ConflictResolutionMode.AutoResolve); //The error occurs on the next line. firstOccurrence.RemoveExtendedProperty(definition); firstOccurrence.Update(ConflictResolutionMode.AutoResolve); //clean up appt.Delete(DeleteMode.HardDelete); } It appears that the error is only thrown for an Exchange 2007 server (It works on 2010). Am I doing something wrong, or is this a problem with Exchange? Is there a way to work around this issue? Any help will be appreciated.

  • ASP.NET Update Panel with CheckBox - Not Working Properly

    - by rwponu
    I'm working on a simple demo project so that I can learn some things about ASP.NET's AJAX capabilities. My problem is that I can't seem to get an UpdatePanel to work properly with a CheckBox inside of it. Here is the markup I'm using in my .aspx file: <asp:ScriptManager ID="SM1" runat="server" /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <ContentTemplate> <tr> <td><asp:CheckBox ID="chkPaypal" runat="server" Text="Paypal" OnCheckedChanged="PayPal_CheckedChanged" AutoPostBack="true" /></td> </tr> <asp:Panel ID="pnlPayPal" runat="server" Visible="false"> <tr> <td>&nbsp;&nbsp;<asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblPaypalEmail" Text="Email:" /></td> <td><asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="tbPaypalEmail" Text="" Width="250px" /></td> </tr> <tr><td>&nbsp;</td></tr> </asp:Panel> </ContentTemplate> <Triggers> <asp:ASyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="chkPayPal" /> </Triggers> </asp:UpdatePanel> In my code behind, I'm simply saying: protected void PayPal_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { pnlPayPal.Visible = true; } Instead of making the panel visible as I anticipate, it is adding another "PayPal" checkbox at the top of the page. Any ideas?

  • [WPF] How to register to/listen to richtextbox commando's?

    - by Liewe
I'm creating a simple editor within our application using the WPF RichTextBox. Above it I've added the reguslar buttons like Bold, Italic, etc. These buttons use the RichTextBox's commands to set these properties, but next to these buttons, the commands also get send with CTRL+B, CTRL+I, etc. I want these buttons to represent the current state of the RichTextBox at the cursor. I already found out how to get this state and it works when I update this state on the SelectionChanged event. This event ofcourse isn't fired when Bold is toggled so there is no direct feedback. I would like to know if there is a way to listen to the commands being called, without affecting its original behaviour or some other ideas to solve my problems. I tried listening to the command the following way: CommandBinding boldBinding = new CommandBinding(EditingCommands.ToggleBold, CommandExecuted); _richTextBox.CommandBindings.Add(boldBinding); and private void CommandExecuted(object sender, ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { UpdateProperties(); e.Handled = false; } This did update the properties, but the RichTextBox didn't seem to receive the command anymore. I also tried to make my own commands on the control containing the RichTextBox, but when CTRL+B is pressed when the RichTextBox has focus, the original RichTextBox commands are called instead of the new one. Many thanks in advance! Liewe

  • Twitter integration and iOS5: semantic and parsing issues

    - by Tyler
    I was using some of Apple's example code to write the Twitter integration for my app. However, I get a whopping amount of errors (mostly being Semantic and parse errors). How can this be solved? -(IBAction)TWButton:(id)sender { ACAccountStore *accountstore = [[ACAccountStore alloc] init]; //Make sure to retrive twitter accounts ACAccountType *accountType = [accountstore accountTypeWithAccountTypeIdentifier:ACAccountTypeIdentifierTwitter]; [accountstore requestAccessToAccountsWithType:accountType withCompletionHandler:^(BOOL granted, NSError *error) { if (granted) [{ NSArray *accountsArray = [accountstore accountsWithAccountType:accountType]; if ([accountsArray count] > 0) { ACAccount *twitterAccount = [accountsArray objectAtIndex:0]; TWRequest *postRequest = [[TWRequest alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:@"http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json"] parameters:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:[@"Tweeted from iBrowser" forKey:@"status"] requestMethod:TWRequestMethodPOST]; [postRequest setAccount:twitterAccount]; [postRequest preformRequestWithHandeler:^(NSData *responseData, NSHTTPURLResponse *urlResponse, NSError *error) { NSString *output = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"HTTP response status: %i", [urlResponse statusCode]]; [self preformSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(displaytext:) withObject:output waitUntilDone:NO]; }]; } }]; } //Now lets see if we can actually tweet -(void)canTweetStatus { if ([TWTweetComposeViewController canSendTweet]) { self.TWButton.enabled = YES self.TWButton.alpha = 1.0f; }else{ self.TWButton.enabled = NO self.TWButton.alpha = 0.5f; } }

  • MVVM Madness: Commands

    - by JP
I like MVVM. I don't love it, but like it. Most of it makes sense. But, I keep reading articles that encourage you to write a lot of code so that you can write XAML and don't have to write any code in the code-behind. Let me give you an example. Recently I wanted to hookup a command in my ViewModel to a ListView MouseDoubleClickEvent. I wasn't quite sure how to do this. Fortunately, Google has answers for everything. I found the following articles: http://blog.functionalfun.net/2008/09/hooking-up-commands-to-events-in-wpf.html http://joyfulwpf.blogspot.com/2009/05/mvvm-invoking-command-on-attached-event.html http://sachabarber.net/?p=514 http://geekswithblogs.net/HouseOfBilz/archive/2009/08/27/adventures-in-mvvm-ndash-binding-commands-to-any-event.aspx http://marlongrech.wordpress.com/2008/12/13/attachedcommandbehavior-v2-aka-acb/ While the solutions were helpful in my understanding of commands, there were problems. Some of the aforementioned solutions rendered the WPF designer unusable because of a common hack of appending "Internal" after a dependency property; the WPF designer can't find it, but the CLR can. Some of the solutions didn't allow multiple commands to the same control. Some of the solutions didn't allow parameters. After experimenting for a few hours I just decided to do this: private void ListView_MouseDoubleClick(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { ListView lv = sender as ListView; MyViewModel vm = this.DataContext as MyViewModel; vm.DoSomethingCommand.Execute(lv.SelectedItem); } So, MVVM purists, please tell me what's wrong with this? I can still Unit test my command. This seems very practical, but seems to violate the guideline of "ZOMG... you have code in your code-behind!!!!" Please share your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

  • Flex 3.5.0; Update ComboBox display list upon dataprovider change

    - by Gabriel Poama-Neagra
Hello, I have two related ComboBoxes ( continents, and countries ). When the continents ComboBox changes I request a XML from a certain URL. When I receive that XML i change the DataProvider for the countries ComboBox, like this: public function displayCountryArray( items:XMLList ):void { this.resellersCountryLoader.alpha = 0; this.resellersCountry.dataProvider = items; this.resellersCountry.dispatchEvent( new ListEvent( ListEvent.CHANGE ) ); } I dispatch the ListEvent.CHANGE because I use it to change another ComboBox so please ignore that (and the 1st line ). So, my problem is this: I select "ASIA" from the first continents, then the combobox DATA get's updated ( I can see that because the first ITEM is an item with the label '23 countries' ). I click the combo then I can see the countries. NOW, I select "Africa", the first item is displayed, with the ComboBox being closed, then when I click it, the countries are still the ones from Asia. Anyway, if I click an Item in the list, then the list updates correctly, and also, it has the correct info ( as I said it affects other ComboBoxes ). SO the only problem is that the display list does not get updated. In this function I tried these approaches Converting XMLList to XMLCollection and even ArrayCollection Adding this.resellersCountry.invalidateDisplayList(); Triggering events like DATA_CHANGE and UPDATE_COMPLETE I know they don't make much sense, but I got a little desperate. Please note that when I used 3.0.0 SDK this did not happen. Sorry if I'm stupid, but the flex events are killing me.

  • [WPF] How to register to/listen to richtextbox command's?

Liewe
