    - by user1794499
    Hi there I'm totally new to Android development and I'm working in my android application my application includes a forum where users can post, comment and have their discussion there.... So I'm working in the interface but I get error when I click on the button I directs me to the signup page can somebody please help me with this error this is the code of the mainuserinterface.java for the mainuserinterface.xml file where the button resides. and the signupform.class is the java file for the next activity triggered when the button is clicked the error I receive is the application is unexpectedly stopped.. Hope I make it clear for you guys package com.mohammed.watzIslam; import android.app.Activity; import android.content.Intent; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.Button; public class mainuserinterface extends Activity { @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.mainuserinterface); // this is the button where I receive errors when I click Button forum = (Button) findViewById(R.id.next); forum.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view){ Intent myIntent = new Intent (view.getContext(), signupform.class); startActivityForResult (myIntent, 0); } }); //these two button still not directing to any next activity yet Button button1 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.next); forum.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view){ Intent myIntent1 = new Intent (view.getContext(), signupform.class); startActivityForResult (myIntent1, 0); } }); Button button2 = (Button) findViewById(R.id.next); forum.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view){ Intent myIntent2 = new Intent (view.getContext(), signupform.class); startActivityForResult (myIntent2, 0); } }); } }

  • WebView inside Tab hiding the tabWidgets

    - by brockoli
    I'm having trouble with a WebView always filling the full screen and thus covering my tabs. Here is my code for the tabhost.. public class tabNZBMobile extends TabActivity { public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); Resources res = getResources(); // Resource object to get Drawables TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); // The activity TabHost TabHost.TabSpec spec; // Reusable TabSpec for each tab Intent intent; // Reusable Intent for each tab // Create an Intent to launch an Activity for the tab (to be reused) intent = new Intent().setClass(this, NewzbinMobile.class); // Initialize a TabSpec for each tab and add it to the TabHost spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("search").setIndicator("Search", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_tab_search)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); // Do the same for the other tabs intent = new Intent().setClass(this, sabnzbWeb.class); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("sabnzbweb").setIndicator("SabNZBd", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_tab_sabnzbweb)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); tabHost.setCurrentTabByTag("search"); }} My first tab (NewzbinMobile.class) displays correctly, it's just a relativelayout. But my second tab is an activity showing a webview and it is showing, but using the whole screen, covering my tabs. Here is the code for my second tab. public class sabnzbWeb extends Activity { WebView mWebView; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); String sabNZBurl = new String("http://test.server.org:8080/m"); mWebView = new WebView(this); mWebView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true); setContentView(mWebView); mWebView.loadUrl(sabNZBurl); }}

  • How much business logic belongs in RIA services layer?

    - by jkohlhepp
    I have been experimenting recently with Silverlight, RIA Services, and Entity Framework using .NET 4.0. I'm trying to figure out if that stack makes sense for use in any of my upcoming projects. It certainly seems like these technologies can be very productive for developing applications, but I'm struggling to decide how an application on top of this stack should be architected. The main issue I have is that in most of the demos I've seen most of the business logic ends up as DataAnnotations and custom validations in the RIA Services domain service class. This seems inappropriate to me. I view the domain service as basically a glorified web service that happens to make it easy to push information to the client. But most of what I've seen seems to orient the domain service as the main source of business logic in the application. So, my questions: What is the best location for business logic (rules, validations, behaviors, authorization) in an application using this stack? Are there any guidelines published at an architectural level for using this stack? My questions pertain to large, complex, and long-lived applications. Obviously for an application of only a few screens this is less of a concern. Edit: Another thing I meant to mention is that obviously you can make the domain service class stupid, but then you lose a lot of the automagic entity information (e.g. validations) being pushed to the client. And then if you lose that is there any point to using RIA services?

  • How do I improve this design for dealing with intersecting date ranges and resolving date range conf

    - by derdo
    I am working on some code that deals with date ranges. I have pricing activities that have a starting-date and an end-date to set a certain price for that range. There are multiple pricing activities with intersecting date ranges. What I ultimately need is the ability to query valid prices for a date range. I pass in (jan1,jan31) and I get back a list that says jan1--jan10 $4 , jan11--jan19 $3 jan20--jan31 $4. There are priorities between pricing activities. Some type of pricing activities have high priority, so they override other pricing activities and for certain type of pricing activities lowest price wins etc. I currently have a class that holds these pricing activities and keeps a resolved pricing calendar. As I add new pricing activities I update the resolved calendar. As I write more tests/code, it started to get very complicated with all the different cases (pricing activities intersecting in different ways). I am ending up with very complicated code where I am resolving a newly added pricing activity. See AddPricingActivity() method below. Can anybody think of a simpler way to deal with this? Could there be similar code somewhere out there? Public class PricingActivity() { DateTime startDate; DateTime endDate; Double price; Public bool StartsBeforeEndsAfter (PricingActivity pAct) { // pAct covers this pricing activity } Public bool StartsMiddleEndsAfter (PricingActivity pAct){ // early part of pAct Itersects with later part of this pricing activity } //more similar methods to cover all the combinations of intersecting } Public Class PricingActivityList() { List<PricingActivity> activities; SortedDictionary<Date, PricingActivity> resolvedPricingCalendar; Public void AddPricingActivity(PricingActivity pAct) { //update the resolvedCalendar //go over each activity and find intersecting ones //update the resolved calendar correctly //depending on the type of the intersection //this part is getting out of hand….. } }

  • How do interpreters functions written in the class C++ in the main

    - by T_Geek
    Hi I'm working on a project about Data structures. In the first , I wrote everything in main but it sounds like C . But as I learned, I tried to thinkk OOP and do as little as possible in my main() methods. I've implemented some opertation in my class like add,delet,find.it's too easy to implement its . class ARB { private: struct BT { int data; BT *l; BT *r; }; struct BT *p; public ARB(); ~ARB(); void del(int n); void add(int n); }; void ARB::del(int num) { //The code ,don't care about it }; main() { // BTR T; T.add(3); T.add(5); }; But I arrived to the big program How can I define a methode which have to use a binary tree and to get a stack STACK ARB::MyFunct(BT* p) { // The code don't care about it } How can I apply it in the main programme main() { // BT T; T.add(3); T.add(5); STACK S; BT* p S=T.MyFunct(p); // error C2664 cannot convert parametre 1 }; **mention :I implement STACK class

  • Data Flow Object Graph and An Execution Engine for it

    - by M Dotnet
    I would like to build a custom workflow engine from scratch. The input to this workflow is a data flow diagram which is composed of a series of activities connected together through lines where each each represent the data flow. Each activity can export multiple outputs. Activities are complex math functions but the logic is hidden from the user. My workflow engine job is to execute the given data flow diagram. Each activity within the data flow diagram is a custom activity and each activity can output different outputs. How do you suggest to model the data flow diagram object? I need to be able to construct the data flow diagram problematically (no need for drag and drop) but I need to display the final result graphically (for display and debugging purposes). Are there any libraries out there that I could use? Should I keep the workflow presentable as an xml? I know that there are many projects out there trying to essentially doing similar thing by building such workflow engines but I need something light weight and open source. I do not need any state machine execution engine and mine is primarily sequential workflow with fork and join capabilities. My activities are wrappable as basic C# classes and I do NOT want to use anything as heavy as .NET workflow foundation.

  • Maximizing the number of true concurrent / parrallel http requests in Silverlight

    - by Clems
    Hi all. I'm using SL 4 beta and my app needs to do a lot of small http requests to the server. I believe that when exceeding the number of allowed concurrent requests, the subsequent requests are put in a queue. I am also aware that SL 4 has both a http browser stack and a http client stack, with both different limit in terms of the number of concurrent requests. Let's say call those limits MAX_BROWSER and MAX_CLIENT. Also I think I read somewhere that the number of concurrent requests is limited per domain, not overall. But I'm sure if this applies to both the http client stack. That means that you CAN have MAX_BROWSER requests to domain1.com AND MAX_BROWSER requests to domain2.com at the same time. And I even believe that sub domains are considered different so you can also have MAX_BROWSER requests to domain1.com AND MAX_BROWSER requests to sub.domain1.com at the same time. I have ownership of the services and domain names so I could easily setup sub domains for my services. Given those considerations I'm trying to optimize the number of concurrent http requests to my server. Here are few questions ? Is is possible to use both stack at the same time ? Is the subdomain/domain story true for both stacks ? None ? If so that would mean that I could potentially have a number of concurrent requests equal to : (MAX_BROWSER + MAX_CLIENT) * NUMBER_OF_DOMAINS which would be fairly good. Is this correct ? I'm kind of sharing my morning thoughts here, hoping somebody has experimented with those things. Thank you.

  • Orphan IBM JVM process

    - by Nicholas Key
    Hi people, I have this issue about orphan IBM JVM process being created in the process tree: For example: C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\bin>wsadmin -lang jython -f "C:\Hello.py" Hello.py has the simple implementation: import time i = 0 while (1): i = i + 1 print "Hello World " + str(i) time.sleep(3.0) My machine has such JVM information: C:\Program Files\WebSphere\java\bin>java -verbose:sizes -version -Xmca32K RAM class segment increment -Xmco128K ROM class segment increment -Xmns0K initial new space size -Xmnx0K maximum new space size -Xms4M initial memory size -Xmos4M initial old space size -Xmox1624995K maximum old space size -Xmx1624995K memory maximum -Xmr16K remembered set size -Xlp4K large page size available large page sizes: 4K 4M -Xmso256K operating system thread stack size -Xiss2K java thread stack initial size -Xssi16K java thread stack increment -Xss256K java thread stack maximum size java version "1.6.0" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build pwi3260sr6ifix-20091015_01(SR6+152211+155930+156106)) IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, JRE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4 Windows Server 2003 x86-32 jvmwi3260sr6-20091001_43491 (JIT enabled, AOT enabled) J9VM - 20091001_043491 JIT - r9_20090902_1330ifx1 GC - 20090817_AA) JCL - 20091006_01 While the program is running, I tried to kill it and subsequently I found an orphan IBM JVM process in the process tree. Is there a way to fix this issue? Why is there an orphan process in the first place? Is there something wrong with my code? I really don't believe that my simplistic code is wrongly implemented. Any suggestions?

  • Struts 2 how to display messages saved in a Interceptor which would redirec to another action?

    - by mui13
    in my interceptor, if user doesn't have enough right, there would be a warn message: public String intercept(ActionInvocation invocation) throws Exception { ActionContext actionContext = invocation.getInvocationContext(); Map<String, Object> sessionMap = actionContext.getSession(); User loginUser = (User) sessionMap.get("user"); Object action = invocation.getAction(); if (loginUser != null && loginUser.getRole().getId() != Constant.AUTHORITY_ADMIN) { ((ValidationAware) action).addFieldError("user.authority", ((DefaultAction) action).getText("user.action.authority.not.enough")); return DefaultAction.HOME_PAGE; } return invocation.invoke(); } then, it would redirect to "HOME_PAGE" action, if success, display information in the jsp. So how to display the warn message? i have used two interceptors configed in strust.xml, for admin right requirment: <interceptor-stack name="authorityStack"> <interceptor-ref name="authority" /> <interceptor-ref name="defaultStack" /> <interceptor-ref name="store"> <param name="operationMode">STORE</param> </interceptor-ref> </interceptor-stack> default is: <interceptor-stack name="default"> <interceptor-ref name="login" /> <interceptor-ref name="defaultStack" /> <interceptor-ref name="store"> <param name="operationMode">AUTOMATIC</param> </interceptor-ref> </interceptor-stack>

I didn't figured out, how to go directly do the browser (without displaying the GUI). Anyone knows?

  • Use LINQ to group a sequence by date with no gaps

    - by Codesleuth
    I'm trying to select a subgroup of a list where items have contiguous dates, e.g. ID StaffID Type Title ActivityDate -- ------- ---- ----------------- ------------ 1 41 1 Doctors 07/06/2010 2 41 0 Meeting with John 08/06/2010 3 41 0 Meeting Continues 09/06/2010 4 41 0 Meeting Continues 10/06/2010 5 41 3 Annual Leave 11/06/2010 6 41 0 Meeting Continues 14/06/2010 I'm using a pivot point each time, so take the example pivot item as 3, I'd like to get the following resulting contiguous events around the pivot: ID StaffID Type Title ActivityDate -- ------- ---- ----------------- ------------ 2 41 0 Meeting with John 08/06/2010 3 41 0 Meeting Continues 09/06/2010 4 41 0 Meeting Continues 10/06/2010 My current implementation is a laborious "walk" into the past, then into the future, to build the list: var orderedEvents = activities.OrderBy(a => a.ActivityDate).ToArray(); // Walk into the past until a gap is found var preceedingEvents = orderedEvents.TakeWhile(a => a.ID != activity.ID); DateTime dayBefore; var previousEvent = activity; while (previousEvent != null) { dayBefore = previousEvent.ActivityDate.AddDays(-1).Date; previousEvent = preceedingEvents.TakeWhile(a => a.ID != previousEvent.ID).LastOrDefault(); if (previousEvent != null) { if (previousEvent.ActivityDate.Date == dayBefore) relatedActivities.Insert(0, previousEvent); else previousEvent = null; } } // Walk into the future until a gap is found var followingEvents = orderedEvents.SkipWhile(a => a.ID != activity.ID); DateTime dayAfter; var nextEvent = activity; while (nextEvent != null) { dayAfter = nextEvent.ActivityDate.AddDays(1).Date; nextEvent = followingEvents.SkipWhile(a => a.ID != nextEvent.ID).Skip(1).FirstOrDefault(); if (nextEvent != null) { if (nextEvent.ActivityDate.Date == dayAfter) relatedActivities.Add(nextEvent); else nextEvent = null; } } The list relatedActivities should then contain the contiguous events, in order. Is there a better way (maybe using LINQ) for this? I had an idea of using .Aggregate() but couldn't think how to get the aggregate to break out when it finds a gap in the sequence.

  • What does the windbg command "kd" do?

    - by Oskar
    I ran kd by mistake and got some output that inteerested me, a reference to a line of code in my module that I can't see on the call stack of any thread. The lines weren't the beginnning of the method so I don't think the reference is to a function pointer, but possibly the result of an exception being stored in memory??? Of course, that happens to be what I'm looking for... Update: The stack trace of the exception is: 0:000> kb *** Stack trace for last set context - .thread/.cxr resets it ChildEBP RetAddr Args to Child 0174f168 734ea84f 2cb9e950 00000000 2cb9e950 kernel32!LoadTimeZoneInformation+0x2b 0174f1c4 734ead92 00000022 00000001 000685d0 msvbvm60! As suggested, it might all be a mismatch between pdbs and dlls, but it seems a coincidence that we end up in the right classes and methods

  • Setting acquired location to a text view: How to maintain?

    - by Mark
    Hi, I have built an app for the Motorola Droid which should automatically update a server with the phone's location. After the user performs a particular task on the main activity screen, an alarm is set to update the user's location periodically, using a service. The alarm is explicitly stopped when the user completes another task. Thing is, I have set up a location manager within the main activity's onCreate() method which is supposed to place the first acquired lat/long into two textview fields. Even though the manifest is set up for acquiring coarse and fine coords and I'm using requestLocationUpdates (String provider, long minTime, float minDistance, LocationListener listener), with minTime and minDistance set to zero, I'm not seeing the coords coming up on the screen. With that, I'm not recording any locations on the server. When I seed the textviews with sample coords, they are being recorded fine on the server. I am not at a computer that can run the IDE, so don't currently have the code, but am desperate for some help on this. One other thing is that the main activity screen calls a photography app before the user manually clicks "send data". I'm suspicious that I may need to override the main activity's onResume() method to do this location acquisition. Please help, thanks. Mark.

  • Are programming languages and methods inefficient? (assembler and C knowledge needed)

    - by b-gen-jack-o-neill
    Hi, for a long time, I am thinking and studying output of C language compiler in assembler form, as well as CPU architecture. I know this may be silly to you, but it seems to me that something is very ineffective. Please, don´t be angry if I am wrong, and there is some reason I do not see for all these principles. I will be very glad if you tell me why is it designed this way. I actually truly believe I am wrong, I know the genius minds of people which get PCs together knew a reason to do so. What exactly, do you ask? I´ll tell you right away, I use C as a example: 1: Stack local scope memory allocation: So, typical local memory allocation uses stack. Just copy esp to ebp and than allocate all the memory via ebp. OK, I would understand this if you explicitly need allocate RAM by default stack values, but if I do understand it correctly, modern OS use paging as a translation layer between application and physical RAM, when address you desire is further translated before reaching actual RAM byte. So why don´t just say 0x00000000 is int a,0x00000004 is int b and so? And access them just by mov 0x00000000,#10? Because you wont actually access memory blocks 0x00000000 and 0x00000004 but those your OS set the paging tables to. Actually, since memory allocation by ebp and esp use indirect addressing, "my" way would be even faster. 2: Variable allocation duplicity: When you run application, Loader load its code into RAM. When you create variable, or string, compiler generates code that pushes these values on the top o stack when created in main. So there is actual instruction for do so, and that actual number in memory. So, there are 2 entries of the same value in RAM. One in form of instruction, second in form of actual bytes in the RAM. But why? Why not to just when declaring variable count at which memory block it would be, than when used, just insert this memory location?

  • FragmentActivity cannot be resolve to a type

    I am starting learning for android tablet programming and I am able to updated my Eclipse as well as all new sdk for android. I have start testing application from this blog while at extending the FragmentActivity getting this error I have google it but not getting any solution. My project was created with 3.0 version having 11 level, all other packages are successfully used in the code but only this FragmentActivity was not able to resolve. Am I missing any library or any thing? My code public class Testing_newActivity extends FragmentActivity { // here the FragmentActivity getting error package not found for import /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); //setContentView(R.layout.main); if (getResources().getConfiguration().orientation == Configuration.ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE) { // If the screen is now in landscape mode, we can show the // dialog in-line so we don't need this activity. finish(); return; } if (savedInstanceState == null) { // During initial setup, plug in the details fragment. • How to return ArrayList results from an IntentService

    - by gcl1
    I have an IntentService that loads up an ArrayList with data from a network source (AWS SDB tables). The ArrayList is in a global space -- accessible to both the calling Activity and the IntentService (like this: appState = ((App)getApplicationContext())). When the IntentService is done, it notifies the Activity through a ResultReceiver, and the Activity calls adapter.notifyDataChanged() to update the ListView. This solution works most of the time, ... but it violates the rule that only the UI thread should make changes to data underlying a ListView. So as it is, I sometimes get an error: "The content of the adapter has changed but ListView did not receive a notification." I think this must be a common situation. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or best practices for this problem. Here are three options I'm aware of: Keep the IntentService, and have it store the results in another "working" ArrayList, also in the global space. When the result is ready, the IntentService calls the ResultReceiver (on the UI thread), which can then: a) copy the result to the ArrayList associated with the ListView, and b) call adapter.notifyDataChanged(). CONS: I don't like the idea of putting temp/working data in a global space, and copying the result list seems inefficient. Keep the IntentService, and have it pass the results back through a bundle loaded with a ParcelableArrayList. CONS: I'm not sure if this approach would scale for very large result sets. It also requires copying the result list. Switch to a Service which builds a local copy of the result list. Have the Activity directly access the address space of the Service in order to read the result list. CON: Still requires copying results to the ArrayList associated with the ListView. Thank you.

  • Google Analytics version 3 - How to apply it correctly?

    - by ephramd
    I've added google analytics to my app with the intention of obtaining information about the screens you and send custom events. I am obtained duplicate content ... Also I get different results: "com.package.app.MainScreen" - 300 views and "Main Screen" - 200 views I am interested to get only follow up with the custom name of the activity and not the package. And in any case, because both show different results? public class MainScreen extends Activity { private static final String GA_PROPERTY_ID = "UA-12345678-9"; private static final String SCREEN_LABEL = "Main Screen"; Tracker mTracker; EasyTracker easyTracker; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main_screen); mTracker = GoogleAnalytics.getInstance(this).getTracker(GA_PROPERTY_ID); mTracker.set(Fields.SCREEN_NAME, SCREEN_LABEL); // For Custom Name from activity mTracker.send(MapBuilder.createAppView().build()); easyTracker = EasyTracker.getInstance(this); // Analytics Events ... easyTracker.send(MapBuilder.createEvent("MainScreen", "Play", category.get(1), null).build()); //AnalyticsEvents ... } @Override public void onStart() { super.onStart(); EasyTracker.getInstance(this).activityStart(this); } @Override public void onStop() { super.onStop(); EasyTracker.getInstance(this).activityStop(this); } } And analytics.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <resources xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools" tools:ignore="TypographyDashes"> <!--Replace placeholder ID with your tracking ID--> <string name="ga_trackingId">UA-12345678-9</string> <!--Enable automatic activity tracking--> <bool name="ga_autoActivityTracking">true</bool> <!--Enable automatic exception tracking--> <bool name="ga_reportUncaughtExceptions">true</bool> </resources> Google Analytics Dev Guide
