  • What is the performance hit of enabling sessions on Google App Engine?

    - by Spines
    What is the performance hit of enabling sessions on the Google App Engine? I just turned on <sessions-enabled>true</sessions-enabled> in my Google App Engine app and now my requests are consistently using 100 more ms of CPU time than before I enabled it. It also makes the user wait an additional 100ms for the server to respond on each request. This seems to be quite a significant cost, I'm not even calling getSession or using it in any way yet and it still adds this extra latency. Is there something I can do to speed this up?

    Hi, how do i solve this: I have usercredential informtion in my main RCP plugin. All other plugins should have that information as well. Preference Store is not possible, because also the presference store needs a nodename which needs to be globally available. Are there any possibilities to realize global variables? Thanks!

  • Izpack: Creating custom panels

    - by bguiz
    Hi, I am trying to create a custom panel for an IzPack installer. This means that I have to extend IzPanel. However, it appears that if I do this, the extended panel needs to be in the com.izforge.izpack.panels package. Then I found this post, which stipulates that: As such, you must include installer.jar from the lib folder of IzPack in the build path of your custom panel project. Your custom panel /must/ extend com.izforge.izpack.installer.IzPanel. Furthermore, it /must/ reside in the com.izforge.izpack.panels package. On top of it all, your build jar's name /must/ be the same as the unqualified name of your custom panel class. I take issue with the 1st and 4th points. They imply that I have to create an additional JAR file for each custom IzPanel that I create. Also, I would have to modify the IzPack installation by adding these JARs to one of its subdirectories. Is this article outdated (2008) and can it be safely ignored, or is this still true? If not how can I avoid this and simply have the extended IzPanel on the classpath instead? Thank you!

  • Lucene: Question of score caculation with PrefixQuery

    - by Keven
    Hi, I meet some problem with the score caculation with a PrefixQuery. To change score of each document, when add document into index, I have used setBoost to change the boost of the document. Then I create PrefixQuery to search, but the result have not been changed according to the boost. It seems setBoost totally doesn't work for a PrefixQuery. Please check my code below: @Test public void testNormsDocBoost() throws Exception { Directory dir = new RAMDirectory(); IndexWriter writer = new IndexWriter(dir, new StandardAnalyzer(Version.LUCENE_CURRENT), true, IndexWriter.MaxFieldLength.LIMITED); Document doc1 = new Document(); Field f1 = new Field("contents", "common1", Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.ANALYZED); doc1.add(f1); doc1.setBoost(100); writer.addDocument(doc1); Document doc2 = new Document(); Field f2 = new Field("contents", "common2", Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.ANALYZED); doc2.add(f2); doc2.setBoost(200); writer.addDocument(doc2); Document doc3 = new Document(); Field f3 = new Field("contents", "common3", Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.ANALYZED); doc3.add(f3); doc3.setBoost(300); writer.addDocument(doc3); writer.close(); IndexReader reader = IndexReader.open(dir); IndexSearcher searcher = new IndexSearcher(reader); TopDocs docs = searcher.search(new PrefixQuery(new Term("contents", "common")), 10); for (ScoreDoc doc : docs.scoreDocs) { System.out.println("docid : " + doc.doc + " score : " + doc.score + " " + searcher.doc(doc.doc).get("contents")); } } The output is : docid : 0 score : 1.0 common1 docid : 1 score : 1.0 common2 docid : 2 score : 1.0 common3

  • accessing HttpServletRequest object in Spring WebFlow

    - by user198530
    I am using WebFlow and would like to add the current Locale into the flow. I already have a resolveLocale method that does this with this signature: public Locale resolveLocale (HttpServletRequest request); I would like to add something like this in my WebFlow XML: <on-start> <evaluate expression="localeService.resolveLocale(???)" result="flowScope.locale"/> </on-start> Now, I don't know what to put in the ??? parameter part. Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

  • Biggest GWT Pitfalls?

    - by agartzke
    I'm at the beginning/middle of a project that we chose to implement using GWT. Has anyone encountered any major pitfalls in using GWT (and GWT-EXT) that were unable to be overcome? How about from a performance perspective? A couple things that we've seen/heard already include: Google not being able to index content CSS and styling in general seems to be a bit flaky Looking for any additional feedback on these items as well. Thanks!

  • Tips for resolving Hibernate/JPA EntityNotFoundException

    - by Damo
    I'm running into a problem with Hibernate where when trying to delete a group of Entities I encounter the following error: javax.persistence.EntityNotFoundException: deleted entity passed to persist: [com.locuslive.odyssey.entity.FreightInvoiceLine#<null>] These are not normally so difficult to track down as they are usually caused by an entity being deleted but not being removed from a Collection that it is a member of. In this case I have removed the entity from every list that I can think of (it's a complex datamodel). I've put JBoss logging into Trace and I can see the collections that are being cascaded. However I can't seem to find the Collection containing the entity that I'm deleting. Does anyone have any tips for resolving this particular Exception? Thanks.

  • Eclipse Intro / Welcome page

    - by Raven
    Hello, is it possible to have links on the welcome page which point to defined commands and for example, launch an dialog? I am thinking of having a welcome page, pointing out the steps what to do first, like: 1) change language (click here) 2) set up database connection (click here) 3) start working (click here) "click here" should be a link to call the actual dialog to set things up. I am using Eclipse with the command style menu. Grateful for any suggestions!

  • Use HttpGet with illegal characters in the URL

    - by kaciula
    I am trying to use DefaultHttpClient and HttpGet to make a request to a web service. Unfortunately the web service URL contains illegal characters such as { (ex: domain.com/service/{username}). It's obvious that the web service naming isn't well written but I can't change it. When I do HttpGet(url), I get that I have an illegal character in the url (that is { and }). If I encode the URL before that, there is no error but the request goes to a different URL where there is nothing. The url, although has illegal characters, works from the browser but the HttpGet implementation doesn't let me use it. What should I do or use instead to avoid this problem?

  • Why declare "private List contactInfos" without a generic ("private List <ContactInfo> contactInfos"

    - by g_imp
    In this example from the App Engine docs, why does the example declare contactInfos like this (no Generics): import javax.jdo.annotations.Element; // ... @Persistent @Element(dependent = "true") private List contactInfos; instead of like this, using a Generic: import javax.jdo.annotations.Element; // ... @Persistent @Element(dependent = "true") private List <ContactInfo> contactInfos;

  • EJB3 Transaction Propogation

    - by Matt S.
    I have a stateless bean something like: @Stateless public class MyStatelessBean implements MyStatelessLocal, MyStatelessRemote { @PersistenceContext(unitName="myPC") private EntityManager mgr; @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.SUPPORTED) public void processObjects(List<Object> objs) { // this method just processes the data; no need for a transaction for(Object obj : objs) { this.process(obj); } } @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW) public void process(Object obj) { // do some work with obj that must be in the scope of a transaction this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.flush(); } } The typically usage then is the client would call processObjects(...), which doesn't actually interact with the entity manager. It does what it needs to do and calls process(...) individually for each object to process. The duration of process(...) is relatively short, but processObjects(...) could take a very long time to run through everything. Therefore I don't want it to maintain an open transaction. I do need the individual process(...) operations to operate within their own transaction. This should be a new transaction for every call. Lastly I'd like to keep the option open for the client to call process(...) directly. I've tried a number of different transaction types: never, not supported, supported (on processObjects) and required, requires new (on process) but I get TransactionRequiredException every time merge() is called. I've been able to make it work by splitting up the methods into two different beans: @Stateless @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.NOT_SUPPORTED) public class MyStatelessBean1 implements MyStatelessLocal1, MyStatelessRemote1 { @EJB private MyStatelessBean2 myBean2; public void processObjects(List<Object> objs) { // this method just processes the data; no need for a transaction for(Object obj : objs) { this.myBean2.process(obj); } } } @Stateless public class MyStatelessBean2 implements MyStatelessLocal2, MyStatelessRemote2 { @PersistenceContext(unitName="myPC") private EntityManager mgr; @TransationAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRES_NEW) public void process(Object obj) { // do some work with obj that must be in the scope of a transaction this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.merge(obj); // ... this.mgr.flush(); } } but I'm still curious if it's possible to accomplish this in one class. It looks to me like the transaction manager only operates at the bean level, even when individual methods are given more specific annotations. So if I mark one method in a way to prevent the transaction from starting calling other methods within that same instance will also not create a transaction, no matter how they're marked? I'm using JBoss Application Server 4.2.1.GA, but non-specific answers are welcome / preferred.

  • Android ListView appears empty, but contains objects

    - by Lethjakman
    I'm having a really odd problem with my android listview. The listview is inside of a fragment, everything's compiling and I'm no longer getting a nullpointer error, but the listview is appearing empty. Even though it's appearing empty, the log is stating that the listview has 385 objects. I can't figure out why it's empty. I do get a blue fragment, and the listview is populated. Any ideas? How I set the adapter: ActivePackages = getList(); LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) this.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); LinearLayout mContainer = (LinearLayout) inflater.inflate(R.layout.tab_frag1_layout, null); ListView activeList = (ListView) mContainer.findViewById(R.id.activelist); ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, android.R.id.text1, ActivePackages); Log.i("valueof activeList",String.valueOf(activeList.getCount())); //returns 0 activeList.setAdapter(adapter); adapter.notifyDataSetChanged(); Log.i("valueof activeList",String.valueOf(activeList.getCount())); //returns 385. This is the xml for the fragment: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:orientation="vertical" > <ListView android:id="@+id/activelist" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:background="#0073fd"> </ListView> </LinearLayout>

  • BlackBerry JDE supported devices?

    - by nuggon
    I'm developing BlackBerry applications with the JDE plugin for Eclipse (version 1.0.0.67), and I was wondering if there's a list somewhere of devices that these applications will run on. It's for commercial purposes, and we need to be able to tell our clients what the supported devices are. Perhaps I'm asking a stupid question, but I need to be sure. If you need more information than what I'm giving, please ask. Thanks.

  • How to use BeanTreeView?

    - by joseph
    Hello. I have read through whole platform.netbeans.org and I do not find how to add some instance to existing children. I can add static array of diagrams(created in addNotify()), but how to add new Diagram object to the Children? I want to add it from an action that I will create(not included in code). See the code: public class ExploirerTopComponent extends TopComponent implements ExplorerManager.Provider { ... ... ... public ExploirerTopComponent() { ... ... associateLookup (ExplorerUtils.createLookup(mgr, getActionMap())); mgr.setRootContext(new MyProjects());// setDisplayName ("Projects explorer"); } public class MyProjects extends AbstractNode { public MyProjects(MainProject obj) { super (new ProjectsChildren(), Lookups.singleton(obj)); setDisplayName ( obj.getName()); } public MyProjects() { super (new ProjectsChildren()); setDisplayName ("My projects"); } } . public class ProjectsChildren extends Children.Keys{ public ProjectsChildren() { } @Override protected Node[] createNodes(Object o) { MainProject obj = (MainProject) o; return new Node[] { new MyDiagrams() }; } @Override protected void addNotify() { Diagram[] d = new Diagram[3]; for (int i = 0; i < pr.length; i++) { pr[i] = new Diagram("digram"); } setKeys (pr); } }

  • Computational geometry: find where the triangle is after rotation, translation or reflection on a mi

    - by newba
    I have a small contest problem in which is given a set of points, in 2D, that form a triangle. This triangle may be subject to an arbitrary rotation, may be subject to an arbitrary translation (both in the 2D plane) and may be subject to a reflection on a mirror, but its dimensions were kept unchanged. Then, they give me a set of points in the plane, and I have to find 3 points that form my triangle after one or more of those geometric operations. Example: 5 15 8 5 20 10 6 5 17 5 20 20 5 10 5 15 20 15 10 I bet that have to apply some known algorithm, but I don't know which. The most common are: convex hull, sweep plane, triangulation, etc. Can someone give a tip? I don't need the code, only a push, please!

  • HttpURLConnection: What is the minimum best-practice implementation?

    - by stormin986
    I've come across a lot of HttpURLConnection examples that are nothing more than openConnection(), getInputStream(), and then they just read the buffer and are done. It's simple but seems like it's not the best implementation ... it handles no problems. I don't yet know much about http, so I keep thinking I have everything covered until a new problem arises. I'm currently experiencing a similar problem to this one. Most times I try to read the same resource a second time (from a different HttpURLConnection object, after I .disconnect()'ed the previous one), the response code returns as -1 (but no exception is thrown!!). Before I knew to check the response code, I was baffled since I was throwing no exceptions. So, is there a minimum 'best practice' HttpURLConnection implementation? What are notable exceptions to handle? Request code checking? Any other error checks? What connection parameters do and don't need to be set (like doInput / doOutput, are these even necessary? Some examples have em, some don't). Etc. I realize this is kind of a broad question but I think it has potential to be a very useful resource if many of the common use cases and FAQs are addressed in one central place. This seems like the kind of thing a community wiki would be good for...

  • apache cxf: c error

    I tried to deploy the sample application from this tutorial: http://united-coders.com/phillip-steffensen/developing-a-simple-soap-webservice-using-spring-30-apache-cxf-226-and-maven-2 In eclipse everything works fine, but i went to troubles when deploying the service. • Need help receiving ByteArray data

    - by k80sg
    Hi folks, I am trying to receive byte array data from a machine. It sends out 3 different types of data structure each with different number of fields which consist of mostly int and a few floats, and byte sizes, the first being 320 bytes, 420 for the second type and 560 for the third. When the sending program is launched, it fires all 3 types of data simultaneouly with an interval of 1 sec. Example: Sending order: Pack1 - 320 bytes 1 sec later Pack2 - 420 bytes 1 sec later Pack3 - 560 bytes 1 sec later Pack1 - 320 bytes ... .. . How do I check the incoming byte size before passing it to: byte[] handsize = new byte[bytesize]; as the data I receive are all out of order, for instance using the following the read all int: System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); I get many different sets of values whenever I run my prog although with some valid field data but they are all over the place. I am not too sure how exactly should I do it but I tried the following and apparently my data fields are not receiving in correct sequence: BufferedInputStream bais = new BufferedInputStream(requestSocket.getInputStream()); DataInputStream datainput = new DataInputStream(bais); byte[] handsize = new byte[560]; datainput.readFully(handsize); int n = 0; int intByte[] = new int[140]; for (int i = 0; i < 140 ; i++) { System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); intByte[n] = datainput.readInt(); n = n + 1; System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[0]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[1]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[2]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[3]); Also from the above code, the order of the values printed out with System.out.println("Reading data in int format:" + " " + datainput.readInt()); and System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[0]); System.out.println("The value in array is:" + intByte[1]); are different. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
