  • Accessing Server-Side Data from Client Script: Using Ajax Web Services, Script References, and ...

    Today's websites commonly exchange information between the browser and the web server using Ajax techniques. In a nutshell, the browser executes JavaScript code typically in response to the page loading or some user action. This JavaScript makes an asynchronous HTTP request to the server. The server processes this request and, perhaps, returns data that the browser can then seamlessly integrate into the web page. Typically, the information exchanged between the browser and server is serialized into JSON, an open, text-based serialization format that is both human-readable and platform independent.Adding such targeted, lightweight Ajax capabilities to your ASP.NET website requires two steps: first, you must create some mechanism on

  • Need some help fixing fonts (11.04 Alpha 3)

    - by Spacecraft
    Hi I changed my Application Font and Window Font to something much better looking but it has a few problems. The font is Umpush Light. It's doing this in the software center: http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/8307/workspace1004.png If I increase the font size from 11 to 12, that problem goes away, but then everything is too large. When I increase it this also happens: http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6231/workspace1006e.png It starts moving the text in the search box up, and the "All Applications" drop down gets messed up too. It seems like there is too much padding around the font or something. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

  • What IDE(s) or editor(s) do companies like Google, Apple, IBM, etc. use?

    - by Pius
    Even though I have quite some experience in using various tools, I still can't make up my mind whether I prefer using IDE or a simple editor for code editing. Most IDEs I have experienced are written in Java (like Eclipse) which makes them slow and bulky. What's good about them is that it provides lots of tools. On the other hand editors are usually VERY fast. They can also be extended to become more similar to IDEs but usually I don't do that. However, there is Sublime Text 2 which has some basic code completion built-in. My question would be whether most Enterprise companies like Google, Apple, IBM and etc (except Microsoft because they have AMAZING IDE which, I assume, is used by MS developers) force their workers to use IDEs and whether using plain editor with external tools is considered being not professional? P.S. Not talking about cases like Android development where working without IDE barely possible.

  • Scrum Master Stephen Forte Teaches Agile Development, Silverlight and BI at GIDS 2010

    - by rajesh ahuja
    Great Indian Developer Summit 2010 – Gold Standard for India's Software Developer Ecosystem Bangalore, March 25, 2010: The author of several books on application and database development including Programming SQL Server 2008 and certified Scrum Master Stephen Forte is coming this summer to India's biggest summit for the developer ecosystem - Great Indian Developer Summit. At the summit, Stephen will conduct a workshop guaranteed to give attendees a jump start in taking a certified scrum master exam. Scrum, one of the most popular Agile project management and development methods, which is starting to be adopted at major corporations and on very large projects. After an introduction to the basics of Scrum like project planning and estimation, the Scrum Master, team, product owner and burn down, and of course the daily Scrum, Stephen will show many real world applications of the methodology drawn from his own experience as a Scrum Master. Negotiating with the business, estimation and team dynamics are all discussed as well as how to use Scrum in small organizations, large enterprise environments and consulting environments. Stephen will also discuss using Scrum with virtual teams and an off-shoring environment. He will then take a look at the tools we will use for Agile development, including planning poker, unit testing, and much more. On 20th April at the GIDS.NET Conference, Stephen will also conduct a series of sessions on Microsoft computing technologies. He will teach how to build data driven, n-tier Rich Internet Applications (RIA) with Silverlight 4.0. Line of business applications (LOB) in Silverlight 4.0 are easy by tapping the power of WCF RIA Services, the Silverlight Toolkit, and elevated out of browser support. Stephen's demo centric session will walk you through an example of building a LOB application with Silverlight 4.0. See how Silverlight and WCF RIA Services support domain logic, services, data binding, validation, server based paging, authentication, authorization and much more. Silverlight 4.0 means business. Silverlight runs C# and Visual Basic code, and so it seems natural that a business application might share some code between the Silverlight client and its ASP.NET Web server. You may want to run some code client-side for interactivity, but re-run that code on the server for security or reliability. This is possible, and there are several techniques you can use to accomplish this goal. In Stephen's second talk learn about the various techniques and their pros and cons. Some techniques work better in C#, others in VB. Still others are simpler with a little extra tooling or code-generation. Any serious Silverlight business application will almost certainly face this issue, and this session gets you going fast. In the third talk, Stephen will explain how to properly architect and deploy a BI application using a mix of some exciting new tools and some old familiar ones. He will start with a traditional relational transaction centric database (OLTP) and explore ways to build a data warehouse (OLAP), looking at the star and snowflake schemas. Next he will look at the process of extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) your OLTP data into your data warehouse. Different techniques for ETL will be described and the various tradeoffs will be discussed. Then he will look at using the warehouse for reporting, drill down, and data analysis in Microsoft Excel's PowerPivot 2010. The session will round off by showing how to properly build a cube and build a data analysis application on top of that cube, and conclude by looking at some tools to help with the data visualization process. • How to group using XSLT

    - by AdRock
    I'm having trouble grouping a set of nodes. I've found an article that does work with grouping and i have tested it and it works on a small test stylesheet i have I now need to use it in my stylesheet where I only want to select node sets that have a specific value. What I want to do in my stylesheet is select all users who have a userlevel of 2 then to group them by the volunteer region. What happens at the minute is that it gets the right amount of users with userlevel 2 but doesn't print them. It just repeats the first user in the xml file. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:key • PHP script keeps doing mmap/munmap

    - by Aurélien Momow
    Hello, My PHP script contains a loop, which does nothing much more than echoing and dereferencing pointers (like in $tab[$othertab[$i]]- stuff). It was working great until yesterday, when this script starting being VERY slow (like 50 times slower than before). After using strace, i figured out that 90% of the time, the script does mmap/munmap. Hi folks, I'm dealing with an annoying problem in core data I've got a table named Character, which is made as follows I'm filling the table in various steps: 1) fill the attributes of the table 2) fill the Character Relation (charRel) FYI charRel is defined as follows I'm feeding the contents by pulling the data from an xml, the feeding code is this curStr = [[NSMutableString stringWithString:[curStr stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet whitespaceAndNewlineCharacterSet]]] retain]; NSLog(@"Parsing relation within these keys %@, in order to get'em associated",curStr); NSArray *chunks = [curStr componentsSeparatedByString: @","]; for( NSString *relId in chunks ) { NSLog(@"Associating %@ with id %@",[currentCharacter valueForKey:@"character_id"], relId); NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"character_id == %@", relId]; [request setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Character" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext] ]]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; NSerror *error = nil; NSArray *results = [[self managedObjectContext] executeFetchRequest:request error:&error]; // error handling code if(error != nil) { NSLog(@"[SYMBOL CORRELATION]: retrieving correlated symbol error: %@", [error localizedDescription]); } else if([results count] > 0) { Character *relatedChar = [results objectAtIndex:0]; // grab the first result in the stack, could be done better! [currentCharacter addCharRelObject:relatedChar]; //VICE VERSA RELATIONS NSArray *charRels = [relatedChar valueForKey:@"charRel"]; BOOL alreadyRelated = NO; for(Character *charRel in charRels) { if([[charRel valueForKey:@"character_id"] isEqual:[currentCharacter valueForKey:@"character_id"]]) { alreadyRelated = YES; break; } } if(!alreadyRelated) { NSLog(@"\n\t\trelating %@ with %@", [relatedChar valueForKey:@"character_id"], [currentCharacter valueForKey:@"character_id"]); [relatedChar addCharRelObject:currentCharacter]; } } else { NSLog(@"[SYMBOL CORRELATION]: related symbol was not found! ##SKIPPING-->"); } [request release]; } NSLog(@"\t\t### TOTAL OF REALTIONS FOR ID %@: %d\n%@", [currentCharacter valueForKey:@"character_id"], [[currentCharacter valueForKey:@"charRel"] count], currentCharacter); error = nil; /* SAVE THE CONTEXT */ if (![managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Whoops, couldn't save the symbol record: %@", [error localizedDescription]); NSArray* detailedErrors = [[error userInfo] objectForKey:NSDetailedErrorsKey]; if(detailedErrors != nil && [detailedErrors count] > 0) { for(NSError* detailedError in detailedErrors) { NSLog(@"\n################\t\tDetailedError: %@\n################", [detailedError userInfo]); } } else { NSLog(@" %@", [error userInfo]); } } at this point when I print out the values of the currentCharacter, everything looks perfect. every relation is in its place. in example in this log we can clearly see that this element has got 3 items in charRel: <Character: 0x5593af0> (entity: Character; id: 0x55938c0 <x-coredata://67288D50-D349-4B19-B7CB-F7AC4671AD61/Character/p86> ; data: { catRel = "<relationship fault: 0x9a29db0 'catRel'>"; charRel = ( "0x9a1f870 <x-coredata://67288D50-D349-4B19-B7CB-F7AC4671AD61/Character/p74>", "0x9a14bd0 <x-coredata://67288D50-D349-4B19-B7CB-F7AC4671AD61/Character/p109>", "0x558ba00 <x-coredata://67288D50-D349-4B19-B7CB-F7AC4671AD61/Character/p5>" ); "character_id" = 254; examplesRel = "<relationship fault: 0x9a29df0 'examplesRel'>"; meaning = "\n Left"; pinyin = "\n zu\U01d2"; "pronunciation_it" = "\n zu\U01d2"; strokenumber = 5; text = "\n \n <p>The most ancient form of this symbol"; unicodevalue = "\n \U5de6"; }) then when I'm in need of retrieving this item I perform an extraction, like this: // at first I get the single Character record NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSError *error; NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"character_id == %@", self.char_id ]; [request setEntity:[NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Character" inManagedObjectContext:_context ]]; [request setPredicate:predicate]; NSArray *fetchedObjs = [_context executeFetchRequest:request error:&error]; when, for instance, I print out in NSLog the contents of charRel NSArray *correlations = [singleCharacter valueForKey:@"charRel"]; NSLog(@"CHARACTER OBJECT \n%@", correlations); I get this Relationship fault for (<NSRelationshipDescription: 0x5568520>), name charRel, isOptional 1, isTransient 0, entity Character, renamingIdentifier charRel, validation predicates (), warnings (), versionHashModifier (null), destination entity Character, inverseRelationship (null), minCount 1, maxCount 99 on 0x6937f00 hope that I made myself clear. this thing is driving me insane, I've googled all over world, but I couldn't find a solution (and this make me think to as issue related to bad coding somehow :P). thank you in advance guys. k

  • Preventing ListBox scrolling to top when updated

    - by WDZ
    I'm trying to build a simple music player with a ListBox playlist. When adding audio files to the playlist, it first fills the ListBox with the filenames and then (on a separate thread) extracts the ID3 data and overwrites the filenames with the correct Artist - Title information (much like Winamp). But while the ListBox is being updated, it's unscrollable, as it always jumps to the top on every item overwrite. Any way to prevent this? EDIT: The code: public Form1() { //Some initialization code omitted here BindingList<TAG_INFO> trackList = new BindingList<TAG_INFO>(); // The Playlist this.playlist = new System.Windows.Forms.ListBox(); this.playlist.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(12, 12); this.playlist.Name = "playlist"; this.playlist.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(229, 316); this.playlist.DataSource = trackList; } private void playlist_add_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Initialize OpenFileDialog OpenFileDialog opd = new OpenFileDialog(); opd.Filter = "Music (*.WAV; *.MP3; *.FLAC)|*.WAV;*.MP3;*.FLAC|All files (*.*)|*.*"; opd.Title = "Select Music"; opd.Multiselect = true; //Open OpenFileDialog if (DialogResult.OK == opd.ShowDialog()) { //Add opened files to playlist for (int i = 0; opd.FileNames.Length > i; ++i) { if (File.Exists(opd.FileNames[i])) { trackList.Add(new TAG_INFO(opd.FileNames[i])); } } //Initialize BackgroundWorker BackgroundWorker _bw = new BackgroundWorker(); _bw.WorkerReportsProgress = true; _bw.DoWork += new DoWorkEventHandler(thread_trackparser_DoWork); _bw.ProgressChanged += new ProgressChangedEventHandler(_bw_ProgressChanged); //Start ID3 extraction _bw.RunWorkerAsync(); } } void thread_trackparser_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { BackgroundWorker _bw = sender as BackgroundWorker; for (int i = 0; i < trackList.Count; ++i) { //Pass extracted tag info to _bw_ProgressChanged for thread-safe playlist entry update _bw.ReportProgress(0,new object[2] {i, BassTags.BASS_TAG_GetFromFile(trackList[i].filename)}); } } void _bw_ProgressChanged(object sender, ProgressChangedEventArgs e) { object[] unboxed = e.UserState as object[]; trackList[(int)unboxed[0]] = (unboxed[1] as TAG_INFO); } EDIT2: Much simpler test case: Try scrolling down without selecting an item. The changing ListBox will scroll to the top again. using System; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace WindowsFormsApplication1 { public class Form1 : Form { private System.ComponentModel.IContainer components = null; protected override void Dispose(bool disposing) { if (disposing && (components != null)) { components.Dispose(); } base.Dispose(disposing); } private void InitializeComponent() { this.components = new System.ComponentModel.Container(); this.listBox1 = new System.Windows.Forms.ListBox(); this.timer1 = new System.Windows.Forms.Timer(this.components); this.SuspendLayout(); // listBox1 this.listBox1.FormattingEnabled = true; this.listBox1.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(0, 0); this.listBox1.Name = "listBox1"; this.listBox1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(200, 290); // timer1 this.timer1.Enabled = true; this.timer1.Tick += new System.EventHandler(this.timer1_Tick); // Form1 this.AutoScaleDimensions = new System.Drawing.SizeF(6F, 13F); this.AutoScaleMode = System.Windows.Forms.AutoScaleMode.Font; this.ClientSize = new System.Drawing.Size(200, 290); this.Controls.Add(this.listBox1); this.Name = "Form1"; this.Text = "Form1"; this.ResumeLayout(false); } private System.Windows.Forms.ListBox listBox1; private System.Windows.Forms.Timer timer1; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); for (int i = 0; i < 45; i++) listBox1.Items.Add(i); } int tickCounter = -1; private void timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (++tickCounter > 44) tickCounter = 0; listBox1.Items[tickCounter] = ((int)listBox1.Items[tickCounter])+1; } } static class Program { [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.SetCompatibleTextRenderingDefault(false); Application.Run(new Form1()); } } }

  • ERR_INCOMPLETE_CHUNKED_ENCODING apache 2.4

    - by Bujanca Mihai
    I upgraded my Ubuntu server to 14.04 and Apache 2.4.7. Now my images don't load and console yields net::ERR_INCOMPLETE_CHUNKED_ENCODING. Also, I can sometimes see some of the images load for a little while (1 sec max) and then they disappear. .htaccess RewriteEngine On # Serve the favicon file from img folder RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/favicon.ico$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /img/$1 [NC,L] # Redirect HTTP traffic to WWW subdomain RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. This violates # the SSL/TLS standard but is needed for some brain-dead browsers. Use # this when you receive I/O errors because of the standard approach where # mod_ssl sends the close notify alert. # o ssl-accurate-shutdown: # This forces an accurate shutdown when the connection is closed, i.e. a # SSL close notify alert is send and mod_ssl waits for the close notify # alert of the client. This is 100% SSL/TLS standard compliant, but in # practice often causes hanging connections with brain-dead browsers. Use # this only for browsers where you know that their SSL implementation # works correctly. # Notice: Most problems of broken clients are also related to the HTTP # keep-alive facility, so you usually additionally want to disable # keep-alive for those clients, too. • How to Upload a file from client to server using OFBIZ?

    - by SIVAKUMAR.J
    Hi all, Im new to ofbiz.So is my question is have any mistake forgive me for my mistakes.Im new to ofbiz so i did not know some terminologies in ofbiz.Sometimes my question is not clear because of lack of knowledge in ofbiz.So try to understand my question and give me a good solution with respect to my level.Because some solutions are in very high level cannot able to understand for me.So please give the solution with good examples. My problem is i created a project inside the ofbiz/hot-deploy folder namely "productionmgntSystem".Inside the folder "ofbiz\hot-deploy\productionmgntSystem\webapp\productionmgntSystem" i created a .ftl file namely "app_details_1.ftl" .The following are the coding of this file <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <title>Insert title here</title> <script TYPE="TEXT/JAVASCRIPT" language=""JAVASCRIPT"> function uploadFile() { //alert("Before calling upload.jsp"); window.location='<@ofbizUrl>testing_service1</@ofbizUrl>' } </script> </head> <!-- <form action="<@ofbizUrl>testing_service1</@ofbizUrl>" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="app_details_frm"> --> <form action="<@ofbizUrl>logout1</@ofbizUrl>" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="app_details_frm"> <center style="height: 299px; "> <table border="0" style="height: 177px; width: 788px"> <tr style="height: 115px; "> <td style="width: 103px; "> <td style="width: 413px; "><h1>APPLICATION DETAILS</h1> <td style="width: 55px; "> </tr> <tr> <td style="width: 125px; ">Application name : </td> <td> <input name="app_name_txt" id="txt_1" value=" " /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width: 125px; ">Excell sheet &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;: </td> <td> <input type="file" name="filename"/> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <!-- <input type="button" name="logout1_cmd" value="Logout" onclick="logout1()"/> --> <input type="submit" name="logout_cmd" value="logout"/> </td> <td> <!-- <input type="submit" name="upload_cmd" value="Submit" /> --> <input type="button" name="upload1_cmd" value="Upload" onclick="uploadFile()"/> </td> </tr> </table> </center> </form> </html> the following coding is present in the file "ofbiz\hot-deploy\productionmgntSystem\webapp\productionmgntSystem\WEB-INF\controller.xml" ...... ....... ........ <request-map uri="testing_service1"> <security https="true" auth="true"/> <event type="java" path="org.ofbiz.productionmgntSystem.web_app_req.WebServices1" invoke="testingService"/> <response name="ok" type="view" value="ok_view"/> <response name="exception" type="view" value="exception_view"/> </request-map> .......... ............ .......... <view-map name="ok_view" type="ftl" page="ok_view.ftl"/> <view-map name="exception_view" type="ftl" page="exception_view.ftl"/> ................ ............. ............. Give me a good solution for uploading a file to the server. Thanks & Regards, Sivakumar.J

  • Alternate way to create a clone of a UNIX System

    - by Spirit
    THE STORY: (If you don't like to read much, down below is the question :) ) Where I work we have two HP RP2470 servers same hardware same number of hard drives same everything :). One of them is a production server and runs HP-UX 11.00. The poor ba***rd hasn't been turned off for years and now I have to make a clone of it on the other server - just in case, for redundancy. The problem is simple (or not simple) as I have to make the the other server exactly the same. However the old version of OS (UX 11.00 is a history now) and the old software running on it, have made my task almost impossible. On the production server there is also a cloning/recover utility Ignite-UX. I tried many times to create a recovery tape with it. Then when I load the tape on the backup server, it succeeds with the loading of the tape (no errors no warnings) but on the next restart it fails to load the OS :S and drops into HP`s ISL prompt. --- THE QUESTION: Is there an alternate way to create a clone of the Unix System? The environment is: 1. 2x HP RP2470 Servers (non-Intel), same hardware, same number od HDDs (two each of them) same everything. 2. OS running: HP-UX 11.00 The production server has to be cloned without downtime - sadly :( as I hope that they will reconsider on this one For example (like on Windows platforms), if you try to copy an entire HDD with Windows inside on another HDD, and then put that HDD on another PC it will still work, as long as the hardware is the same. Can I do something like that with a Unix system? Can I somehow COPY the contents of the entire HDD, put those on another HDD, and then just load the HDD into the other server? (If you haven't read the story the servers are exactly the same) Will it work? Can it be done with ordinary commands like cp or dump or something like that? Does any one have a similar experience? --- UPDATE: 26.01.2012 NOTE: The update is related to "The Story". If you haven't read that part then you can skip this update. • MVC2 EditorTemplate for DropDownList

    - by tschreck
    I've spent the majority of the past week knee deep in the new templating functionality baked into MVC2. I had a hard time trying to get a DropDownList template working. The biggest problem I've been working to solve is how to get the source data for the drop down list to the template. I saw a lot of examples where you can put the source data in the ViewData dictionary (ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"]) then retrieve them in the template itself (var sourceValues = ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"];) This works, but I did not like having a silly string as the lynch pin for making this work. Below is an approach I've come up with and wanted to get opinions on this approach: here are my design goals: The view model should contain the source data for the drop down list Limit Silly Strings Not use ViewData dictionary Controller is responsible for filling the property with the source data for the drop down list Here's my View Model: public class CustomerViewModel { [ScaffoldColumn(false)] public String CustomerCode{ get; set; } [UIHint("DropDownList")] [DropDownList(DropDownListTargetProperty = "CustomerCode"] [DisplayName("Customer Code")] public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> CustomerCodeList { get; set; } public String FirstName { get; set; } public String LastName { get; set; } public String PhoneNumber { get; set; } public String Address1 { get; set; } public String Address2 { get; set; } public String City { get; set; } public String State { get; set; } public String Zip { get; set; } } My View Model has a CustomerCode property which is a value that the user selects from a list of values. I have a CustomerCodeList property that is a list of possible CustomerCode values and is the source for a drop down list. I've created a DropDownList attribute with a DropDownListTargetProperty. DropDownListTargetProperty points to the property which will be populated based on the user selection from the generated drop down (in this case, the CustomerCode property). Notice that the CustomerCode property has [ScaffoldColumn(false)] which forces the generator to skip the field in the generated output. My DropDownList.ascx file will generate a dropdown list form element with the source data from the CustomerCodeList property. The generated dropdown list will use the value of the DropDownListTargetProperty from the DropDownList attribute as the Id and the Name attributes of the Select form element. So the generated code will look like this: <select id="CustomerCode" name="CustomerCode"> <option>... </select> This works out great because when the form is submitted, MVC will populate the target property with the selected value from the drop down list because the name of the generated dropdown list IS the target property. I kinda visualize it as the CustomerCodeList property is an extension of sorts of the CustomerCode property. I've coupled the source data to the property. Here's my code for the controller: public ActionResult Create() { //retrieve CustomerCodes from a datasource of your choosing List<CustomerCode> customerCodeList = modelService.GetCustomerCodeList(); CustomerViewModel viewModel= new CustomerViewModel(); viewModel.CustomerCodeList = customerCodeList.Select(s => new SelectListItem() { Text = s.CustomerCode, Value = s.CustomerCode, Selected = (s.CustomerCode == viewModel.CustomerCode) }).AsEnumerable(); return View(viewModel); } Here's my code for the DropDownListAttribute: namespace AutoForm.Attributes { public class DropDownListAttribute : Attribute { public String DropDownListTargetProperty { get; set; } } } Here's my code for the template (DropDownList.ascx): <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<IEnumerable<SelectListItem>>" %> <%@ Import Namespace="AutoForm.Attributes"%> <script runat="server"> DropDownListAttribute GetDropDownListAttribute() { var dropDownListAttribute = new DropDownListAttribute(); if (ViewData.ModelMetadata.AdditionalValues.ContainsKey("DropDownListAttribute")) { dropDownListAttribute = (DropDownListAttribute)ViewData.ModelMetadata.AdditionalValues["DropDownListAttribute"]; } return dropDownListAttribute; } </script> <% DropDownListAttribute attribute = GetDropDownListAttribute();%> <select id="<%= attribute.DropDownListTargetProperty %>" name="<%= attribute.DropDownListTargetProperty %>"> <% foreach(SelectListItem item in ViewData.Model) {%> <% if (item.Selected == true) {%> <option value="<%= item.Value %>" selected="true"><%= item.Text %></option> <% } %> <% else {%> <option value="<%= item.Value %>"><%= item.Text %></option> <% } %> <% } %> </select> I tried using the Html.DropDownList helper, but it would not allow me to change the Id and Name attributes of the generated Select element. NOTE: you have to override the CreateMetadata method of the DataAnnotationsModelMetadataProvider for the DropDownListAttribute. Here's the code for that: public class MetadataProvider : DataAnnotationsModelMetadataProvider { protected override ModelMetadata CreateMetadata(IEnumerable<Attribute> attributes, Type containerType, Func<object> modelAccessor, Type modelType, string propertyName) { var metadata = base.CreateMetadata(attributes, containerType, modelAccessor, modelType, propertyName); var additionalValues = attributes.OfType<DropDownListAttribute>().FirstOrDefault(); if (additionalValues != null) { metadata.AdditionalValues.Add("DropDownListAttribute", additionalValues); } return metadata; } } Then you have to make a call to the new MetadataProvider in Application_Start of Global.asax.cs: protected void Application_Start() { RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); ModelMetadataProviders.Current = new MetadataProvider(); } Well, I hope this makes sense and I hope this approach may save you some time. I'd like some feedback on this approach please. Is there a better approach?

  • Telerik RadGrid inside of ToolTip inside of RadGrid

    - by lowerkey
    Right now I have a RadToolTip inside of a RadGrid. The RadGrid displays a field from the datasource called "Value". The RadToolTip displays the same thing. I want to add another RadGrid inside of the RadToolTip. The function setting up the datasource of that second RadGrid should take "Value" as a parameter? How do I do that? Here's what I have so far. <h2>Currently Assigned Tags</h2> <telerik:RadGrid runat="server" ID="grdTags" OnNeedDataSource="grdTags_NeedDataSource" AllowMultiRowSelection="true" AutoGenerateColumns="false" OnDeleteCommand="DeleteTag" Skin="CiscoGreen" EnableEmbeddedSkins="false"> <ClientSettings> <Selecting AllowRowSelect="true" /> </ClientSettings> <MasterTableView DataKeyNames="KeywordID"> <Columns> <telerik:GridButtonColumn ButtonType="LinkButton" Text="Delete" CommandName="Delete" /> <telerik:GridBoundColumn Visible="false" DataField="KeywordID" /> <telerik:GridBoundColumn HeaderText="Value" DataField="Value" /> <telerik:GridTemplateColumn UniqueName="ToolTip"> <HeaderTemplate> Related Campaigns </HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="TargetLabel" Text='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Value") %>' /> <telerik:RadToolTip ID="ttRelatedCampaigns" runat="server" Width="300px" Height="300px" TargetControlID="TargetLabel"> <%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Value") %> <telerik:RadGrid ID="grdRelatedCampaigns" runat="server" OnNeedDataSource='<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Value") %>' AutoGenerateColumns="false" Skin="CiscoGreen" EnableEmbeddedSkins="false"> <MasterTableView DataKeyNames="InitiativeName"> <Columns> <telerik:GridBoundColumn HeaderText="Campaign Name" DataField="Value" /> </Columns> </MasterTableView> </telerik:RadGrid> </telerik:RadToolTip> </ItemTemplate> </telerik:GridTemplateColumn> </Columns> </MasterTableView> </telerik:RadGrid>

  • CodeIgniter: Passing variables via URL - alternatives to using GET

    - by John Durrant
    I'm new to CodeIgniter and have just discovered the difficulties using the GET method of passing variables via the URL (e.g. domain.com/page.php?var1=1&var2=2). I gather that one approach is to pass the variables in the URI segments but haven't quite figured out how to do that yet as it seems to create the expectation of having a function in the controller named as the specific URI segment???? Anyway Instead of using GET I've decided to use POST by adapting a submit button (disguised as a link) with the variables in hidden input fields. I've created the following solution which seems to work fine, but am wondering whether I'm on the right track here or whether there is an easier way of passing variables via a link within CodeIgniter? I've created the following class in application/libraries/ <?php if ( ! defined('BASEPATH')) exit('No direct script access allowed'); class C_variables { function variables_via_link($action, $link_text, $style, $link_data) { $attributes = array('style' => 'margin:0; padding:0; display: inline;'); echo form_open($action, $attributes); $attributes = array('class' => $style, 'name' => 'link'); echo form_submit($attributes, $link_text); foreach ($link_data as $key => $value){ echo form_hidden($key, $value); } echo form_close(); } } ?> With the following CSS: /* SUBMIT BUTTON AS LINK adapted from thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=403667 Cross browser support (apparently). */ .submit_as_link { background: transparent; border-top: 0; border-right: 0; border-bottom: 1px solid #00F; border-left: 0; color: #00F; display: inline; margin: 0; padding: 0; cursor: hand /* Added to show hand when hovering */ } *:first-child+html .submit_as_link { /* hack needed for IE 7 */ border-bottom: 0; text-decoration: underline; } * html .submit_as_link { /* hack needed for IE 5/6 */ border-bottom: 0; text-decoration: underline; } Link then created using the following code in the VIEW: <?php $link = new C_variables; $link_data=array('var1' => 1, 'var2' => 2); $link ->variables_via_link('destination_page', 'here is a link!', 'submit_as_link', $link_data); ?> Thanks for your help...

  • getting the value of a pseudo-element with protractor

    - by bodine
    I'd like to verify the text content of a pseudo-element. The promise returned from using ptor.executeScript("window.getComputedStyle(jQuery('.my-class')[0], ':after').content").then(function(data){ console.log(arguments) // {'0':null} }); I've also tried dropping that in the expectation, but I'd guess that fails for the same reason. Since the CSS Declaration for this is pointing at one of the element's attributes anyway, should I just try to read that attribute?

  • C# WebBrowser control not applying css

    - by JamesL
    I have a project that I am working on in VS2005. I have added a WebBrowser control. I add a basic empty page to the control private const string _basicHtmlForm = "<html> " + "<head> " + "<meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=utf-8'/> " + "<title>Test document</title> " + "<script type='text/javascript'> " + "function ShowAlert(message) { " + " alert(message); " + "} " + "</script> " + "</head> " + "<body><div id='mainDiv'> " + "</div></body> " + "</html> "; private string _defaultFont = "font-family: Arial; font-size:10pt;"; private void LoadWebForm() { try { _webBrowser.DocumentText = _basicHtmlForm; } catch(Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } } and then add various elements via the dom (using _webBrowser.Document.CreateElement). I am also loading a css file: private void AddStyles() { try { mshtml.HTMLDocument currentDocument = (mshtml.HTMLDocument) _webBrowser.Document.DomDocument; mshtml.IHTMLStyleSheet styleSheet = currentDocument.createStyleSheet("", 0); TextReader reader = new StreamReader(Path.Combine(Path.GetDirectoryName(Application.ExecutablePath),"basic.css")); string style = reader.ReadToEnd(); styleSheet.cssText = style; } catch(Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } } Here is the css page contents: body { background-color: #DDDDDD; } .categoryDiv { background-color: #999999; } .categoryTable { width:599px; background-color:#BBBBBB; } #mainDiv { overflow:auto; width:600px; } The style page is loading successfully, but the only elements on the page that are being affected are the ones that are initially in the page (body and mainDiv). I have also tried including the css in a element in the header section, but it still only affects the elements that are there when the page is created. So my question is, does anyone have any idea on why the css is not being applied to elements that are created after the page is loaded? I have also tried no applying the css until after all of my elements are added, but the results don't change.
