  • .net 3.5 to 4.0 Migration

    Currently we are doing a payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) using some of the latest features like WCF, WF and the development for the same has almost completed. However, clients have shown their interest in migrating the developed payroll application in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (.Net 3.5) to Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (.Net 4.0). I don't have an idea about the expected challenges in the migration or if its just going to be very smooth. Any thoughts or comments?

  • Should I use Java for a custom Swing component designed for a clojure app?

    I want a simple timeline component (like in video editing software) for a clojure/seesaw app and I am wondering if it is a good approach to implement this directly with clojure and seesaw or if I should write it in java and make my clojure wrapper around it. Or more generally: is a functional programming language optimal for writing UI widgets? I cannot imagine doing that without a lot of state involved. And wasn't OO invented for UI-development in the first place?

  • How to tell which php.ini files is loaded ?

    Looking at my php.info all it says is "Loaded Configuration file:" C:\xampp\php\php.ini Yet I have two ini files inside the php folder. One, "development", the other "production". I can not see within either ini file the value, "Loaded Configuration file" .. So How do I tell which one is being used and where is that managed ? My goal is to have only 1 ini file and disable the other. Many Thanks !

Currently I take the design and "slice" this up into HTML and CSS then I "plug" this into a CMS. I would class this as frontend development depending on the level of customisation required for the CMS.     I can do any .Net development using v2 of the CLR (.net 2, 3, 3.5) but when I try to use .Net 4.0 then I get an error saying that the version of IBM.Data.DB2 is too old / out of date (it's compiled for CLR v2). Where would I find a .Net 4 version of IBM.Data.DB2?
