I have 2 databases on SQL (identical). I want a table from one database to be copied to the other database. They are both the same name and the original table can be overeritten.
Cheers
At my job I have to work with three different databases. One is a SQL Server 2008, for which I use SQL Server Management Studio, and another is MySQL, for which I use the MySQL tools. The third however is a Cache database that I can only access through a ODBC connection. Currently I use the SLIK software ODBC View tool to access it, but it is severely lacking when compared with the other two tools. Can anyone recommend a good tool for this type of work?
I have more than 1000 access databases with the same table names.Each database has a unique name. In each database, I want to add column to one existing table and populate that new column (all rows in the table would be the same) with the database name. I found the example below - How can I alter this to give the new column the name of the database.
ALTER TABLE TestTable ADD NewColumn INT;
UPDATE TestTable SET NewColumn = 0;
I have 2 databases with same tables. DBProduction and DBLocal both have testTable. How can i replace testTable of DBProduction with of DBLocal? There are some new rows inserted and some updated rows in testTable of DBLocal.
Using SQL Server 2008
Hi all:
I am working on a C# application that involves using XML schema file as databases for message definitions and XML file as databases for message data.
I was following the example I found:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.xml.xmldatadocument.dataset%28v=VS.100%29.aspx
I wrote my own xsd and XML file. I used the same approach in the example, read the xsd file and then load
the xml file. But I don't have any "Rows" created for my DataTable. I used debugger to step through my codes. When I am get my DataTable use xmlDataDocument.DataSet.Tables["name of the table"], the Rows property of that tables is 0.
Does anybody know what might cause the DataSet tables not get populated after I loaded the xmlDataDocument with XML file?
Here is a fragment of XSD file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<xs:schema id="test"
targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/test.xsd"
elementFormDefault="qualified"
xmlns="http://tempuri.org/test.xsd"
xmlns:mstns="http://tempuri.org/test.xsd"
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
>
<xs:element name="reboot_msg">
<xs:complexType>
<xs:complexContent>
<xs:extension base="header_s">
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element name="que_name">
<xs:simpleType>
<xs:restriction base="xs:string">
<xs:minLength value="4"/>
<xs:maxLength value="8"/>
</xs:restriction>
</xs:simpleType>
</xs:element>
<xs:element name="priority" type="xs:unsignedShort"/>
</xs:sequence>
</xs:extension>
</xs:complexContent>
</xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
and here is a fragment of the XML file:
<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<test xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" >
<reboot_msg>
<message_length>16</message_length>
<message_type>7</message_type>
<message_sequence>0</message_sequence>
<que_name>NONE</que_name>
<priority>5</priority>
</reboot_msg>
It could be the XML and XSD file I created missed something. Please help.
Thanks
What is the best database for small applications and tools?
I used paradox, moved to SQL Server, now I use Blackfish.
But are there other small and free databases for small applications and tools.
Thanks
Hey !
I am making an application which is a user interface to access 2 types of databases - SQLite and MSSQL server.
The thing is, SQLite doesnt need to be "installed" since its just a flatfile database, but on the other hand, SQLserver (Express/normal) need to be installed before use. My Question is simple:
Is there a way by which i can find out if an instance of SQLserver has been installed on the local machine by using a C# program?
I have been able to query newer Oracle databases using the PHP oci8 extension with the Oracle 10.2 Instant Client. Unfortunately, the Oracle Instant Client seems to be unable to connect to an Oracle 7 database (version 7.3.3 to be precise).
Is there a way to query an older Oracle database from PHP?
I'm running two load balanced servers for one website, and I'd like the databases to be synchronized. Queries may be run on either of the two servers because they are both production sites, so the replication can't just work one way.
It doesn't have to be in real-time, just fairly accurate so people don't notice a difference when they get switched to a different server.
Hi, i've recently done a migration from a really old version of some application to the current version and i faced some problems while migrating databases.
I need a query that could help me to compare columns in two tables. I mean not the data in rows, i need to compare the columns itself to figure out, what changes in table structure i've missed.
Hello All,
I dont know how to copy table data from
one server - database - table
TO
other sever - database - table.
If it is with in the same server and different databases, i have used the following
SELECT * INTO DB1..TBL1 FROM DB2..TBL1 (to copy with table structure and data)
INSERT INTO DB1..TBL1(F1, F2) SELECT F1, F2 FROM DB2..TBL1 (copy only data)
Now my question is copy the data from SERVER1 -- DB1-- TBL1 to SERVER2 -- DB2 --TBL2
Thanks in advance!
I want to write an windows application in c#.net in which I have to save hindi language fonts to the databases and reading them straight away.I have searched lots of websites and read about localization but couldn't make it through.Please help me.
Thanks

I am working on cleaning up a mess that another programmer started. The created 2 identical databases for different locations but that obviously caused major issues. They are using cakePHP and there are quite a few relationships. I am pretty sure I will have to write a script to import that data from on DB to the other and keep all the relationships but was wondering if there is an easier way to do it.
We had a talk with colleagues about databases yesterday as we will have a DB2 education in few weeks. I'm wondering, what are the differences between DB2 and Oracle as two major enterprise solutions? Are there any limitations in comparison to each other? Are there any tasks more suitable for DB2 or Oracle?
(I found this article, but I somehow doubt it covers everything)
One thing I have in mind is, that datasets in Core Data (or lets say: managed objects) have no ID like known from other databases such as MySQL. Also, they're not in a specific guaranteed order.
What else makes Core Data much more "special" compared to working with a relational database like MySQL? Besides the whole object graph persisting and ORM stuff?
I'm starting to develop an application using MySQL and although I've developed apps before using databases, I've normally gone to the incrementing id method. The other day I was reading a posting somewhere and saw someone being picked apart for this, for not properly "normalising the database". I'm not a big database person, but I wanted to make sure I'm doing this right.
Any ideas, help / guidance?
I have to include one report in my application showing offline/online activity of few databases on SQL Server 2008.
Could you please suggest how can I collect teh same information from sql server?
I have a ~23000 line sql dump containing several databases worth of data. I need to extract a certain section of this file (i.e. the data for a single database) and place it in a new file. I know both the start and end line numbers of the data that I want.
Does anyone know a unix command (or series of commands) to extract all lines from a file between say line 16224 and 16482 and then redirect them into a new file?
Hi, i would like to or need to use a database for my wpf project. It has to store "person" "team" "goals" and maybe 2 more things, nothing very big. Ive already used (worked) with databases in java / php (postgresql), but is there maybe an "easier" way to store the things.. i mean if the db is going to be big than i could use (postgre or mysql), but this one would be small.
I read that a few databases can be used in-memory but can't think of reason why someone would want to use this feature. I always use a database to persist data and memory caches for fast access.
I have this sql:
ALTER TABLE dbo.ChannelPlayerSkins
DROP CONSTRAINT FK_ChannelPlayerSkins_Channels
but apparently, on some other databases we use, the constraint has a different name. How do I check if there's a constraint with the name FK_ChannelPlayerSkins_Channels.
Hi,
I am running Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and SQL Server 2008 R2 Nov 2009 CTP. However, I cannot find the .dlls for Sql Server (So that I can add tables, get the databases collection, etc). Can anyone tell me where dlls are based?
Thanks
