  • Sanitizing MySQL user parameters.

    What are the dangerous characters that should be replaced in user input when the users' input will be inserted in a MySQL query? I know about quotes, double quotes, \r and \n. Are there others?(I don't have the option of using a smart connector that accepts parameters so I have to build the query myself and this will be implemented in multiple programming languages, including some obscure ones so solutions such as mysql_real_escape_string in PHP are not valid)

  • Can an out-of-process COM object determine its parent process?

    From an out-of-process COM object (LocalServer32) can I determine the client process that requested the creation of the object? - to be specific I need to get hold of the client processes command line. This question arrises because (due to poor standardisation, implementation and support) the potential 3rd party clients of the object have a variety of idiosyncracies which the object needs to workaround. To do this the object needs to be able to identify its current client. Extending the interface of the COM object so that the client can identify itself is unfortunately not possible ... or to be more precise the interface can be extended but I won't be able to get the clients to call the extension.

  • Why "cannot use an object as a parameter to a method"?

    I have the following ViewController class #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface SampleViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UITextField *field1; } @property (nonatomic, retain) UITextField *field1; - (IBAction) method1:(id)sender; @end When I change the method1:(id)sender to method1:(UITextField)sender, I get the error "Cannot use an object as a parameter to a method". I searched and found this post which says "it [using an object as a method parameter] is not a good idea in Objective-C because Objective-C does not allow statically allocated object". Can anyone point out where I can find a more detailed explanation for this? Thank you.

    Is there a multipart POST library out there that achieve the same effect of doing a POST from a html form? for example - upload a file programmingly in Java versus upload the file using a html form. And on the server side, it just blindly expect the request from client side to be a multipart POST request and parse out the data as appropriate. Has anyone tried this? specifically, I am trying to see if I can simulate the following with Java The user creates a blob by submitting an HTML form that includes one or more file input fields. Your app sets blobstoreService.createUploadUrl() as the destination (action) of this form, passing the function a URL path of a handler in your app. When the user submits the form, the user's browser uploads the specified files directly to the Blobstore. The Blobstore rewrites the user's request and stores the uploaded file data, replacing the uploaded file data with one or more corresponding blob keys, then passes the rewritten request to the handler at the URL path you provided to blobstoreService.createUploadUrl(). This handler can do additional processing based on the blob key. Finally, the handler must return a headers-only, redirect response (301, 302, or 303), typically a browser redirect to another page indicating the status of the blob upload. Set blobstoreService.createUploadUrl as the form action, passing the application path to load when the POST of the form is completed. <body> <form action="<%= blobstoreService.createUploadUrl("/upload") %>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="myFile"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> </form> </body> Note that this is how the upload form would look if it were created as a JSP. The form must include a file upload field, and the form's enctype must be set to multipart/form-data. When the user submits the form, the POST is handled by the Blobstore API, which creates the blob.   • How to merge/crosslink Javadoc?

    If you have the standard Javadoc for a few different projects, how can you process them to create a single unified set of documentation in which everything is cross-linked? Ideally, the result would be similar to the documentation for the various modules in the NetBeans Platform: http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/javadoc/index.html but I've looked at their build scripts and they're predicated on you building everything from source. I'm looking for something which could also handle linking in Javadoc for third-party libraries, so I'd imagine it would need to be a post-processing operation. I can't be the first person to ever want this. Any ideas?

    Talking about javax.crypto.Cipher; I was trying to encrypt data using Cipher.getInstance("RSA/None/NoPadding", "BC"); but I got the exception: ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: too much data for RSA block Looks like is something related to the "NoPadding", so, reading about padding, looks like CBC is the best approach to use here. I found at google something about "RSA/CBC/PKCS#7", what is this "PKCS#7"? And why its not listed on sun's standard algorithm names?

  • Why do garbage collectors freeze execution?

    I was thinking about garbage collection on the way home, and I began wondering, why does the garbage collector totally freeze execution of a program? Personally I would have designed it to block any threads which try to allocate a new object, but threads which were running would be left alone. I can't imagine any situation where this would be a problem compared to how a garbage collector currently works.

    Hi! The end of my loop causes a EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Here's my dictionary (AppDelegate.data): 1 = ( 3, "Test 1", False, "" ); 2 = ( 4, "Test 2", False, "" ); And here is my loop: for (id theKey in AppDelegate.data) { if (theKey = nil) { NSLog(@"HOLY COW"); } else { NSLog(@"Key: %@ ?", theKey); } } It never says holy cow, and it says the right key but at the end it crashes... Do you have any idea why? It should only loop on 1 and two and then exit the loop... I know that there's always a "nil" object at the end that's why I did a condition with it but it doesn't look like it works at all.. Thanks!

    I have a list representing products which are more or less the same. For instance, in the list below, they are all Seagate hard drives. Seagate Hard Drive 500Go Seagate Hard Drive 120Go for laptop Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive New and shinny 500Go hard drive from Seagate Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 Seagate FreeAgent Desk 500GB External Hard Drive Silver 7200RPM USB2.0 Retail For a human being, the hard drives 3 and 5 are the same. We could go a little bit further and suppose that the products 1, 3, 4 and 5 are the same and put in other categories the product 2 and 6. We have a huge list of products that I would like to classify. Does anybody have an idea of what would be the best algorithm to do such thing. Any suggestions? I though of a Bayesian classifier but I am not sure if it is the best choice. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

    Hi all; My problem seems to be quite simple, but it's not working the intuitive way. I'm designing a Windows Forms Application, and there is a dialog that should NOT exit when the enter key is pressed, instead it has to validate data first, in case enter was pressed after changing the text of a ComboBox. I've tried by telling it what to do on KeyPress event of the ComboBox if e is the Enter key: Private Sub ComboBoxSizeChoose_KeyPress(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles ComboBoxSizeChoose.KeyPress If e.KeyChar = Convert.ToChar(Keys.Enter) Then Try TamanhoDaNovaFonte = Single.Parse(ComboBoxSizeChoose.Text) Catch ex As Exception Dim Dialogo2 As New Dialog2 Dialog2.ShowDialog() ComboBoxSizeChoose.Text = TamanhoDaNovaFonte End Try End If End Sub But no success so far. When the Enter key is pressed, even with the ComboBox on focus, the whole dialog is closed, returning to the previous form. The validation is NOT done at all, and it has to be done before exiting. In fact, I don't even want to exit on the form's enter KeyPress, the only purpose of the enter key on the whole dialog is to validate the ComboBox (but only when in focus, for the sake of an intuitive UI). I've also tried appending the validation to the KeyPress event of the whole dialog's form, if the key is Enter. NO SUCCESS! It's like my code wasn't there at all. What should I do? (Visual Studio 2008, VB.NET)

  • How can I setup a svn subdomain so I can checkin/out without using svn+ssh?

    I have a svn repository on my hosting account at ~/repository/. At the moment I have to create ssh keys to my server for users to checkin/out from the repository using a command like "svn+ssh://domain.com/project1/trunk". This is fine when there were 2 of us using the repository but now I have other people that might be doing work on the server that I cannot fully trust, hence I cannot give them ssh keys as then they will have access to my entire server. I would like to setup access to my svn repository via a subdomain e.g. svn.domain.com, so that users can checkin/out from this location using a command like: "svn co http://svn.domain.com/project1/trunk" - without using ssh. Can this be done and how? This should also help me solve my other issue of managing which users have access to which svn projects. Thanks for any help in advance!

    I've seen other questions about this exception, but all of them seem to be resolved with the solution that a row with the primary key specified already exists. This doesn't seem to be the case for me. I have tried replacing all single quotes in my strings with double quotes, but the same problem occurs.     Hi ! (Yes, this is a quite opened and general and subjective question -- it's by design, cause I want tips you think are great !) I'm using Eclipse PDT 2.1 to work in PHP, either for small and/or big projects -- I've been doing so for quite some times, now, actually (since before 1.0 stable, if I remember well)... I was wondering if any of you did know "tips" to be more efficient. Let met explain more in details : I know about things like plugins like Aptana (better editor for JS/CSS), Subversive (for SVN access), RSE, Filesync, integrating Xdebug's debugger, ... What I mean by "tips" is more some little things you discovered one day and since use all the time -- and allow you to be more efficient in your PHP projects. Some examples of "tips" that come to my mind, and that already know and use : ctrl+space to open the list of suggestions for functions / variables names ctrl+shift+R (navigate > open resource) to open a popup which show only files which names contain what you type ; ie, quick opening of files this one might be the perfect example : I know this one is not often known by coworkers and they find it as useful as I do ; so, I guess there might be lots of other things like this one I don't know myself ^^ ctrl+M to switch to full-screen view for the editor (instead of double-click on tabs bar) shift+F2 while on a function name, to open it's page if the PHP manual in a browser Attention Mac Users use Command instead Control. I guess you get the point ; but I'm really open to any suggestion (be it eclipse-related in general, of more PHP/PDT-specific) that can help be be more efficient :-) Anyway, thanks in advance for your help !

I made an outlet: IBOutlet UIWebView *browser; Defined it as a property: @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWebView *browser; Synthethized it: @synthesize browser; Finally, I connected it in Interface Builder, really it is.     I utilize a (nested) plist to populate UITableViews where users can select entries at the deepest levels and set a checkmark (or not). I want to save these selections in a same structured list where at the deepest level the NSArray contains bool values instead the text strings that are displayed in the UITableView. So how can i build from a hierarchy like the following: Root - Item 0 (Dictionary) - Group (Dictionary) - Items (NSArray) - Item 0: @"Please check me" (String) a hierarchy like this? Root - Item 0 (Dictionary) - Group (Dictionary) - Items (NSArray) - Item 0: 0 (NSNumber) // NSNumber for bool values I'm trying to create a deep mutable copy and replace the items at the deepest levels but have somehow the feeling that this can be done easier.   • sbt: "test" works "test:run" not

    I try to establish a build pipeline on Jenkins with a Play(2.0.2) project. As I want to just build the sources once and use the classes for downstream builds, I now have created a "compile"-job, that runs "sbt test:compile". That works so far. The next job should then just run the compiled tests. If I use "sbt test" it works as expected, but compiles the sources again. But if I try to run "sbt test:run" it says: [info] Loading project definition from ~/myproject/project [info] Set current project to myproject (in build file: ~/myproject/) java.lang.RuntimeException: No main class detected. at scala.sys.package$.error(package.scala:27) [error] {file:~/myproject/test:run: No main class detected. The same happens locally. I can run "sbt test" but not "sbt test:run". Same error. Is there someone who can point me to the right direction?

    These two querys gives me the exact same result: select * from topics where name='Harligt'; select * from topics where name='Härligt'; How is this possible? Seems like mysql translates åäö to aao when it searches. Is there some way to turn this off? I use utf-8 encoding everywhere as far as i know. The same problem occurs both from terminal and from php.

    I'm coding a WYSIWYG editor width designMode="on" on a iframe. The editor works fine and i store the code as is in the database. Before outputing the html i need to "clean" with php on the server-side to avoid cross-site-scripting and other scary things. Is there some sort of best practice on how to do this? What tags can be dangerous? UPDATE: Typo fixed, it's What You See Is What You Get. Nothing new :)

    Hi, I'm trying to create a basic shopping cart, having an issue with the product page allowing users to add more items to their cart then are in stock (I have code in place to prevent this on the view cart page, just not the view product page) This is what I have so far; for ($i = 0; $i < $numItem; $i++) { extract($cartContent[$i]); $subTotal += $price * $cartQuantity; $cartLimiter[$itemNo => $cartQuantity]; Using an array so the position number becomes the item number and the cart quantity becomes the assigned value, however it doesn't seem to like it and throws out on the bottom line of code: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_DOUBLE_ARROW, expecting ']' Thanks
