  • Android App Crashes On Second Run

    - by user1091286
My app runs fine on first run. On the Menu I added two choices options and quit. options which set up a new intent who goes to a PreferenceActivity and quit which simply call: "android.os.Process.killProcess(android.os.Process.myPid());" On the second time I run my app (after I quit from inside the emulator) it crashes.. Ideas? the menu is called by the foolowing code: @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.menu , menu); return true; } - @Override public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) { // Set up a new intent between the updater service and the main screen Intent options = new Intent(this, OptionsScreenActivity.class); // Switch case on the options switch (item.getItemId()) { case R.id.options: startActivity(options); return true; case R.id.quit: android.os.Process.killProcess(android.os.Process.myPid()); return true; default: return false; } Code for SeekBarPreference: package com.testapp.logic; import com.testapp.R; import android.content.Context; import android.content.res.TypedArray; import android.preference.Preference; • How to Detect an Event Coming from the Firefox History Dropdown Box

    - by banterCZ
How to detect an event coming from the Firefox history dropdown box? I need to distinguish between the enter key simply pressed on input field or on item from his native history dropdown box. The reason is that I would like to call custom submit button (not first one, which is default) on the enter key pressed on any input field. But right now, the enter key pressed on history dropdown box unfortunately call submit as well.

  • Hibernate - EhCache - Which region to Cache associations/sets/collections ??

    - by lifeisnotfair
Hi all, I am a newcomer to hibernate. It would be great if someone could comment over the following query that i have: Say i have a parent class and each parent has multiple children. So the mapping file of parent class would be something like: parent.hbm.xml <hibernate-mapping > <class name="org.demo.parent" table="parent" lazy="true"> <cache usage="read-write" region="org.demo.parent"/> <id name="id" column="id" type="integer" length="10"> <generator class="native"> </generator> </id> <property name="name" column="name" type="string" length="50"/> <set name="children" lazy="true"> <cache usage="read-write" region="org.demo.parent.children" /> <key column="parent_id"/> <one-to-many class="org.demo.children"/> </set> </class> </hibernate-mapping> children.hbm.xml <hibernate-mapping > <class name="org.demo.children" table="children" lazy="true"> <cache usage="read-write" region="org.demo.children"/> <id name="id" column="id" type="integer" length="10"> <generator class="native"> </generator> </id> <property name="name" column="name" type="string" length="50"/> <many-to-one name="parent_id" column="parent_id" type="integer" length="10" not-null="true"/> </class> </hibernate-mapping> So for the set children, should we specify the region org.demo.parent.children where it should cache the association or should we use the cache region of org.demo.children where the children would be getting cached. I am using EHCache as the 2nd level cache provider. I tried to search for the answer to this question but couldnt find any answer in this direction. It makes more sense to use org.demo.children but I dont know in which scenarios one should use a separate cache region for associations/sets/collections as in the above case. Kindly provide your inputs also let me know if I am not clear in my question. Thanks all.

  • How to remove hanging start up application (windows mobile)?

    - by afriza
Hi, I am developing a native application for Windows Mobile 6.5 (Samsung Omnia II i8000). After making some changes, my application hangs when it is run. The problem is my application is also run during Start Up (via \windows\startup shortcut) and whenever I restart the phone, it'll always run my application and hangs there. ActiveSync is not connected yet (I'm using WinXP,VS2005), so I cant use pdel from itsutils. Anyone has any Idea how to solve this?

  • Developing iPhone app to Run on iPad - Auto Set 2x

    - by R.J.
Is there a way to programmatically set the iPad to run the iPhone app at 2x as it is launched (yet keep the iPhone app native). I understand I can create NIB files for each hardware platform, but for ease, I just would rather the app launch as if the user had tapped the 2x on the iPad. Thanks...R.J.

  • Is there a .Net library similar to GNU readline?

    - by paul.moore.name
I'm considering writing a console application in C# and I want to incorporate history, completion and command line editing features something like GNU readline (but not necessarily as extensive as that!) Is there an existing library for .net which provides this type of functionality? I guess one option would be to use interop services to call GNU readline. But is there a native option?

  • Replacement for java.util.zip for streaming usage?

    - by evilfred
java.util.zip sucks for stream compression. The longer you leave an Inflator/Deflator open without calling end(), the more native memory it uses up. This is a known issue: http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=4797189 which nobody seems to care about fixing. What is a good alternative? Preferably one that is free and is still actively supported by its developers.

  • CRT, do we still need to redistribute it ?

    - by leeeroy
Do we still need to bother with vcredist.exe when distributing windows native applications ? Does any of these come bundled with Win-7 ? If not, are there any technical reasons these are not shipped to people via e.g. windows update - insteadof letting us burden the customers with yet-another-thing-that.must-work ? (Ok, that might sound argumentative, but I'm really wondering the reason these libraries are not default installed/updated on windows machines)

  • How can I add reflection to a C++ application?

    - by Nick
I'd like to be able to introspect a C++ class for its name, contents (i.e. members and their types) etc. I'm talking native C++ here, not managed C++, which has reflection. I realise C++ supplies some limited information using RTTI. Which additional libraries (or other techniques) could supply this information?

  • What's the best way to skin my iPhone app (similar to how the Notes app is skinned)?

    - by Dr Dork
If you look at the Notes app on the iPad, you can see it uses all native iPhone controls, but they're "skinned" to look like a pad of paper. What's the best way to implement something similar to that? Could I use interface builder and simply change the background image for each of the controls, including the TableViews? Thanks in advance for all your help! I'm going to continue researching this question right now.

  • C++0x thread interruption

    - by Nicola Bonelli
According to the C++0x final draft, there's no way to request a thread to terminate. That said, if required we need to implement a do-it-yourself solution. In your opinion, what's the best solution? Designing your own cooperative 'interruption mechanism' or going native?
