  • TeamSpeak 3 Disconnects

    - by ArchUser
    I've recently had a few random TS3 mass disconnects and I'm am curious to know where I may find any applications that can help me determine the cause of any types of TS3 server disconnections as we plan on having many more users in the future. I run an almost empty VPS (OpenVZ) server with an ArchLinux template on it. I have 1.5/2GB of RAM, 2GHz of CPU and plenty of hard drive space, to run for the most part, just my TS3 and a low traffic apache web server. This is what I am investigating. 2011-02-04 06:07:05.130343|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Valamoor'(id:224) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 06:07:05.131338|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Kevrow'(id:19? reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 06:07:05.191849|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'scuba'(id:200) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 06:07:05.192633|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected '[Ash] Setna'(id:75) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 06:07:05.193350|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Akiris'(id:254) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 06:07:05.194047|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Marcus'(id:25? reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 06:07:05.194726|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Guthry'(id:275) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 07:18:50.327071|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Valamoor'(id:224) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 07:18:51.339018|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Marcus'(id:25? reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 07:18:51.339870|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected '[Ash] Setna'(id:75) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-04 07:18:51.340515|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Guthry'(id:275) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-05 04:55:20.797353|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'JohnyRingo'(id:240) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-05 04:55:20.798517|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Maloo roots'(id:196) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-05 04:55:20.799314|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'Cpt dravyn'(id:234) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' 2011-02-05 04:55:20.839254|INFO |VirtualServer | 1| client disconnected 'scuba'(id:200) reason 'reasonmsg=connection lost' etc... I also checked the bandwidth history from the server and there have been no spikes or outages."

  • Analyze a wireless network that constantly drops/has speed issues

    - by Eddie Parker
Hello, I'm curious what the best tools are to use for analyzing problems with a WiFi network. Here's the scenario: I have a WiFi router (Belkin N+) that's setup in AP mode. I have three RT-N13U's that I've purchased to use as 'repeaters', but I've had so many problems when more than one of them is running (bad routes) that I've only got one active. Sometimes certain boxes on my network can't talk to others, and drops are quite frequent and quite aggravating. I'm running Mac, Windows, and Linux (Gentoo) boxes on this network, so any software, or steps I should take that work for any of those boxes should be sufficient. Apologies if this is answered somewhere else - I'll close it as a dupe if so.

  • Problems using PC as a media server with PS3

    - by Tiger
I recently got a PS3 and decided to take advantage of the fact that it can be used to stream movies by making my PC a media server. I've done this in the past with the same router I have now before I sold my old PS3, but not on this PC. I've tried using both Tversity and PS3 Media server, but I don't think the problem lies within the configuration of either of those programs because I am unable to ping the PS3. This problem only occurs when I am using a wired connection on my pc, attempting to connect to a WLAN connection on the PS3. If I switch to WLAN on my PC I can successfully ping the PS3 and connect to the media server. Thanks

  • Can I connect Creative SBS A520 5.1 speakers to my Dell XPS L502X?

    - by vr3690
I am planning on buying a new set of speakers and was looking at the Creative SBS A520 5.1 Speakers as an option to connect to my Dell XPS 502X. From what I have seen online and on the quick start guide for the speakers, I need to have 3 line out ports on my laptop to use the 5.1 speakers properly. Right now, I have port for 3.5mm jack, one S/P Diff and another for the mic. Can I connect these speakers directly to my laptop without using any other hardware? If I do need some other hardware, what do I need to get?

  • Test A SSH Connection from Windows commandline

    - by IguanaMinstrel
I am looking for a way to test if a SSH server is available from a Windows host. I found this one-liner, but it requires the a Unix/Linux host: ssh -q -o "BatchMode=yes" user@host "echo 2>&1" && echo "UP" || echo "DOWN" Telnet'ing to port 22 works, but that's not really scriptable. I have also played around with Plink, but I haven't found a way to get the functionality of the one-liner above. Does anyone know Plink enough to make this work? Are there any other windows based tools that would work? Please note that the SSH servers in question are behind a corporate firewall and are NOT internet accessible. Arrrg. • Multi-WAN bonding across different media

    - by Tom O'Connor
I've recently been thinking again about a product that Viprinet provide, basically they've got a pair of routers, one that lives in a datacentre, Their VPN Multichannel Hub and the on-site hardware, their VPN multichannel routers They've also got a bunch of interface cards (like HWICs) for 3G, UMTS, Ethernet, ADSL and ISDN adapters. Their main spiel seems to be bonding across different media. It's something that I'd really like to use for a couple of projects, but their pricing is really quite extreme, the hub is about 1-2k, the routers are 2-6k, and the interface modules are 200-600 each. So, what I'd like to know is, is it possible with a couple of stock Cisco routers, 28xx or 18xx series, to do something similar, and basically connect a bunch of different WAN ports, but have it all presented neatly as one channel back to the internet, with seamless (or nearly) failover if one of the WAN interfaces should fail. Basically, If i got 3x 3G to ethernet modems, and each on a different network, I'd like to be able to loadbalance/bond across all of them, without having to pay Viprinet for the privilege. Does anyone know how I'd go about configuring something for myself, based around standard protocols (or vendor specific ones), but without actually having to buy the Viprinet hardware?

  • Router startup problem

    - by gfmoz
I have problems with my Tilgin Vood Router. As I try to start my router by turning the power on (captain obvious), it generally doesn't work the first 3-4 times. This is getting very annoying. Five minutes after turning the power on the router's signal LEDs don't blink in the way they should do in a connected state. I can connect to my routers web configuration interface through my PC connected to it via LAN though I can't access the internet. It usually takes the router five minutes to get to the point where it should be connected to the internet but as it doesn't work the first times. So I turn on my router 3-5 times, let him work 5 minutes and then suddenly, after turning the pow*emphasized text*er off and on again it all works. The problem is regarding startup only, when I get it to work everything runs as smooth as a 1980-s text-based C++ game on a 3ghz machine. I also have to restart my PC too in order for everything to work. - How can I solve this problem? - Just leave the router turned on all time? I prefer a daily IP switch, though. - May the problem have something to do with my PC? There is another one connected to the router too and it doesn't work there either.

  • Router loses connection to internet randomly

    - by tvanover
I have a Belkin wireless G plus Mimo router and it randomly loses the connection to the internet. It seems to happen for a second or two, not enough to impact day to day browsing. But enough to disconnect games, or stall videos I am watching. It happens whether I am plugged into the router or connecting via wifi. I am unsure if it is my router or Comcast that is causing this issue. If I connect a computer directly to the modem the problem never occurs, so that tells me it is probably the router. But I also had a Netgear wireless router WGR614, and it had the same problem. I don't know where to start looking for the source of the problem. What logs should I be combing through? All my machines are win 7 of varying versions.

  • Server 2003 and XP Client; Why are HTTP connections being silently dropped.

    - by Asa Yeamans
On my network, my edge-router, a windows 2003 r2 server router with all the latest updates, will drop packets, but only under specific circumstances. I have troubleshot and isolated it down to the most simple configuration i can. There is NO NAT involved. Only fully-public IP addresses. No Firewalls are running either, all ahve been disabled. no packet filters on any interfaces anywhere either. I have a single Windows XP virtual machine and my edge-router(the windows 2003 r2 server, and also a virtual machine) running on a windows 2008 x64 r2 system (running virtual server 2005 as i dont have Intel-VT compatible chip yet). The edge router can access any external http site just fine, no issues. However the windows XP machine is only able to access certain sites. These work: www.google.com www.txstate.edu www.workintexas.com www.thedailywtf.com . These Dont: www.yahoo.com www.utexas.edu en.wikipedia.org slashdot.org www.bing.com. I have removed all possibility of DNS issues by connecting with net-cat from the XP box and sending GET /\r\nHost: \r\n\r\n and that connection replicates the issue as well. The network setup: My statically assigned IP block: x.x.x.168/29 DSL Modem -----PPPoE Connection---- x.x.x.169[EdgeRouter] [EdgeRouter]x.x.x.170 -----Virtual Ethernet----- x.x.x.174 [Test2] Test2's Default gateway is x.x.x.170 and test2 can ping any and every valid, accessible, public IP address with no packet loss what-so-ever. If i connect directly over PPPoE from test2 (the XP box) everything works just fine... Im at my wits end, i have NO IDEA whats causing this.

  • Remote desktop connection drops before login can appear

    - by Keatly
Hi Everyone, Someone asked this question a few months ago and I have the exact same problem. I have tried all of the suggested solutions in the other posting (in particular reinstalling the video card on the server), but have not had any luck. I have gone through this troubleshooting guide in detail with no results: http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/RemoteDesktop/RemoteDesktopSetupandTroubleshooting.html I have a client with Remote Desktop enabled that I can't connect to in our local network. When I enter in the machine ip/port in the connect box and hit Connect, it briefly gives the normal "Connecting..." dialog box. However, after 2 seconds it just drops. No error message, nothing. Just disappears as if nothing was happening. •Windows XP SP3 •Windows firewall is open for 3389TCP •Machine is on a domain •RDP is enabled in My Computer •User is a local admin I have loads of other machines on the same domain with the same GPO that work fine. Any ideas?

  • MySQL command appends '@localhost' to username

    - by Mikee
I just can't seem to figure this one out. I want to use the command line to connect to a MySQL database residing on another server. I went ahead and created the username and password for the user. I have also granted all privileges on that user for that database. When using the command: mysql -h <hostname> -u <username> -p, I get the following error: ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user '<username>'@'<local_machine_hostname>' (using password: YES) The problem is that it keeps appending the current machine's hostname into the username. Obviously, that user@<local_machine_hostname> is not correct. It doesn't matter what I type. For instance, if I type: mysql -h <hostname> -u '<username>'@'<hostname>' -p It does the same, only in the error output, it says: Access denied for user '<username>@<hostname>'@'<local_machine_hostname>' Is there a setting in a configuration file which is allowing this to happen? It's really quite annoying. I need to set up a tikiwiki server, and it cannot connect because during the step where you set up mysql, it keeps appending the local machine's hostname to the mysql login name.

  • Nginx proxy to IIS Connection Timeout

    - by MitMaro
I am having an issue with random timeouts with a Nginx proxy connecting to an IIS machine. I have been watching a packet capture between the two servers and it seems that the IIS machine is receiving a SYN packet but is not responding with what I think should be an ACK response. Before the timeout occurs there seems to be a slower response from the IIS server. There is no unusual memory or processor usage on the IIS or Nginx machine. Some information on the servers and setup: Nginx Machine: Ubuntu 10.04 64bit Nginx 0.7.65 Amazon EC2 Windows Machine: Windows Server 2008 IIS 7 ASP.net Application in Integrated Mode Nginx Error: 2011/01/10 17:57:40 [error] 8297#0: *30 connect() failed (110: Connection timed out) while connecting to upstream, client: 209.***.***.***, server: secure.example.com, request: "GET /a/path/deliver.aspx HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://***.***.***.****:****//another/path/deliver.aspx", host: "secure.example.com" WireShark Packets 6521.449528 10.***.***.*** -> 174.***.***.*** TCP 38695 > us-cli [SYN] Seq=0 Win=5840 Len=0 MSS=1460 TSV=477422103 TSER=0 WS=7 6524.443239 10.***.***.*** -> 174.***.***.*** TCP 38695 > us-cli [SYN] Seq=0 Win=5840 Len=0 MSS=1460 TSV=477422403 TSER=0 WS=7 6530.443241 10.***.***.*** -> 174.***.***.*** TCP 38695 > us-cli [SYN] Seq=0 Win=5840 Len=0 MSS=1460 TSV=477423003 TSER=0 WS=7

  • Verizon FiOS Speed concerns

    - by Josh K
I'm working on getting a separate internet connection to run out and I was looking into available options. FiOS claims to offer 25Mb up / 25 Mb down as a maximum rate. Do they have listed minimum rates? Is there anything with fiber I should be concerned about? Special hardware, special routers, availability concerns?

  • Losing SQL connections

    - by john pavelka
sql servr 2005 - Standard; one dedicated sql server (VM); windows server 2003; Small databases; About once a week we lose all sql connections. It seems to fix itself after about 5-10 minutes. System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. --- System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. We don't have a fully qualified DBA; it's kind of a joint effort here. Can somebody give me some general ideas for troubleshooting the network side and the application side? We already ran a few tuning profiles and ran through Database Tuning Advisor to apply indexing recommendations. It would sure be nice if there was a way to take a snapshot of what was running on sql server when these 100% cpu spikes occured, but sometimes we're not around. Is it common to throttle CPU for certain processes? Can this be done with Windows server 2003? For example, if security apps were making cpu spike to 100%, is there a way to limit their cpu usage? Any advice is appreciated. thanks,

  • Windows-7 Ultimate 64 bit wont connect to my wired/wireless networks.

    - by A302
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Everything was working fine & then just stopped working. The nic card Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is enabled but does not connect to my router (cables & router ports are good). Wireless Atheros AR5007EG is enabled but the connection is limited (encryption type / key have been verified). A laptop running XP can connect both wired / wireless. SSID is not being broadcast, connect to network if it is not broadcasting is checked. Have checked services.msc for Bonjour & did not see it listed. Network & sharing center does not list any active networks. Device manager lists both devices as functioning properly. Router configuration has not been changed. Virus scan has not found anything. I would like to fix this rather than using Acronis to do a system restore. Thanks in advance for any advice offered in solving this. 26 Jan, the nic card & wireless are working using PCLinux OS Live CD. It appears that the problem is Windows 7 related.

  • Auditing bandwidth of remote sites

    - by keithosu
I would like to do an automatic audit of bandwidth of my remote offices. I understand that there are many websites where I could ask each user to go to a webpage and run the test. I was hoping there was some software that I could run on our web server and a script that I could send out that would run the test and record the results to a central web interface. The remote sites are all running some form of Windows and the server environment can be Linux or Windows based.

  • How to measure that a host is good for users in Egypt ?

    - by Sherif Buzz
Hi all, I currently have a site that's hosted in Texas. The majority of my users are from Egypt and I'm a bit concerned that the current hosting is not the optimal in terms of performance. The site is not slow but for how can I know if, for example, hosting it in Europe or Asia is better ? To clarify I need to know there is a way that I can test different hosting options - for example how can I test the average response time between Egypt and a host in Texas, the average response time between Egypt and a host in the UK ?

  • Are there any other causes of this error that are NOT related to initial setup?

    - by LordScree
I'm trying to diagnose an issue at a customer site. They are receiving the following error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server I've seen this a few times, but only during the initial setup - it's often caused by one of the following: The database server is turned off The network connection between the database server and the application is closed or somehow blocked (e.g. a firewall) The SQL Server instance is not set up to receive remote connections from the application server (e.g. TCP is turned off, remote connections are disabled, or the "SQL Server Browser" service is stopped/disabled) However, if I assume that no configuration changes have been made, I'm trying to postulate on what the reason might be for getting this error at a random point after the initial setup. My initial thought is: SQL Server machine has run out of resources (e.g. RAM) and is unable to accept new requests from the application server Is this a valid theory? What other possible causes are there of this error that are not related to the initial setup of the server / application connection? Or is it simply impossible that this error could occur without a configuration change having been made (either on the SQL Server side, application side, or somewhere in-between (network))? NOTE: I believe this question differs from the plethora of questions related to this error message because the application and server have been talking to each other quite happily until now (most, if not all, other questions seem to relate to initial setup).

  • Why doesn't phpMyAdmin connect to MySQL server?

    - by Grafica
I'm running xampp on Windows 7, and when I type localhost/phpmyadmin, there is an error: phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server. Here's what I did, but I'm still not able to connect: In config.inc.php, changed from true to false: $cfg['Servers'[$i]['AllowNoPassword'] = false; Changed password here: localhost/security/xamppsecurity.php In resetroot.bat, typed new password where it says 'password': echo REPLACE INTO user VALUES ('localhost', 'pma', 'password', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', 'N', '', '', '', '', 0, 0, 0, 0, '', ''); >>resetroot.sql Restarted apache and mySQL I still get the same error message. • After moving our Servers to a virtual environment using VMware - SQL timeouts came in, why?

    - by RayofCommand
We moved our servers to a virtual cloud (VMware) where only our servers are in. But as soon as we finished migrating everything we are fighting against SQL Timeouts and machine slowdowns we can't explain. Even though we ~ doubled the servers capacity while switching from physical to virtual. Now I googled and found that we are not alone. People are complaining about poor performance after moving to a cloud managed by VMware. Are there any known issues? Sometimes our services can't access a disk or SQL receives a timeout and we have no idea why.

  • Most efficient way to update a MySQL Database on a Linux host with that of an ASP.Net Form on Window

    - by NJTechGuy
My kind webhost (1and1) royally asked me to go elsewhere to do something like this. I have 2 sites. One of them was developed by a .Net programmer. Now I am contracted to implement a PHP site and fetch data from the .Net site. There is an ASP.Net form that a customer fills and when they hit submit, the data gets stored in SQL Server DB. How do I also store the same data in MySQL parallelly? I cannot directly use some database connectors with ASP.Net since MySQL connectivity is not supported on 1and1 Windows hosting (biz account, no less!). What I thought of is to publish an RSS feed of entries in ASP.Net site and routinely scrape that data into MySQL on Linux host. It is an overkill, I know. Not efficient. I thought I would pick the best brains on SOF to get a different, efficient opinion. Thanks in advance guys...

  • How can I easily test connectivity to external sources with WinHTTP?

    - by Mike B
I've got an server application that uses Winhttp to fetch information from an external source. Occasionally, I'll need to troubleshoot connectivity issues and I'd like an easy way to test connections through winHTTP (on the off-chance that there's something that is specifically impeding winHTTP and not other unrelated connectivity commands like telnet). Does IE use WinHTTP? If not, are there any tools (preferably already integrated into Windows) that I can use? Occasionally I'll use IE but I'm not sure if that's quite the same.

  • Android AVD With GoogleApi, Not Getting Network Connection

    - by Chris
I am working on a Windows XP Machine. When running AVDs out of Eclipse, I am getting "No Network Connection" when I am plugged into my company's network and using an AVD that was built with the "Google APIs by Google Inc., Android API 7, revision 1". If I use this same AVD (Google API) and connect to the internet through a Verizon Wireless card, the AVD gets an Internet Connection. If I use an AVD built with "SDK Platform Android 2.1, API 7, revision 1", and connect through my company's network, the AVD gets an Internet Connection. Any ideas what might be blocking this? I am guessing it is something in my company's network, but why only with the AVD created with the Google API?
