  • JSF - Creating an overlay for popup panels.

    Hi, I've created an overlay that will popup whenever someone wants to upload a file to the system. The Gui looks like this (when the overlay is up) I have two problems with this: I attached a a4j:support object that, onclick, makes the overlay disappear. The problem with this is that when I click the upload button on the upload component, support catches the click event and closes the overlay with the upload component before I have the chance to finish the operation. I chose two different style classes. One for the overlay and one for the upload panel. But the styling of the overlay takes over the upload component and it becomes transparent as well.   • iPhone: how do I set up a clear window-size "blocker view"?

    I feel like this should be obvious to me, but for some reason I can't figure this out. I have a navigation interface with nav bar, tool bar, and primary view. Sometimes the user takes an action that causes a progress indicator to appear in the middle of the view. While the progress indicator (which is a custom UIView) in spinning in the middle, I want no touch input to be allowed to go to any of the underlying interface (main view, nav bar, toolbar, etc). But this doesn't seem trivial. I've tried (and failed) to create a simple view whose only job is to swallow touch input and use it as a window subview-- no dice, it never gets the touch events (and yes, it does have userInteractionEnabled). I've tried to bolt it on as a transparent modal view controller, but those don't seem to ever be transparent. Thoughts? What am I missing? Thanks!

  • Is there a better way than #if DebugMode for logging

    I'm making a c++ library thats going to be P/Invoked from c#, so i am unable to breakpoint/debug the c++ side of things. So i decided to add logging so i can see if anything goes wrong and where it happens. I add a #define DebugMode 1 in order to determine if i am to log or not. First of all i'm not very good at c++ but i know enough to get around. So my questions are: Is there a better way than wrapping #if DebugMode #endifs around every Log call? I could simply do that inside the method and just return if logging isn't disabled but won't that mean then all those logging strings will be in the assembly? How can i emulate what printf does with its "..." operator enabling me to pass something like Log("Variable x is {0}", x); Thanks!

  • How to make the value of one select box drive the options of a second select box

    I want to make an HTML form with 2 select boxes. The selected option in the first select box should drive the options in the second select box. I would like to solve this dynamically on the client (using javascript or jQuery) rather than having to submit data to the server. For example, let's say I have the following Menu Categories and Menu Items: Sandwiches Turkey Ham Bacon Sides Mac 'n Cheese Mashed Potatoes Drinks Coca Cola Sprite Sweetwater 420 I would have two select boxes, named Menu Category and Items, respectively. When the user selects Sandwiches in the Menu Category box, the options in the Items box will only show Sandwich options. I'm stuck as how I might approach this. Once I filter out the 2nd list one time, how do I "find" the list options once I change my menu category in the 1st list? Also, if I'm thinking in SQL, I would have a key in the 1st box that would be used to link to the data in the 2nd box. However, I can't see where I have room for a "key" element in the 2nd box. How could this problem be solved with a combination of jQuery or plain javascript?

    Hi! Question: I want to make a login form at the Clickonce deployment webpage, and only allow the authenticated users to download the application. and I want the downloaded application to use the same credentials entered at the webpage, without prompting the users to enter the credentials again. Details: I have an application(Windows Client) which needs customized settings for different users. the application is deployed through ClickOnce. Currently, the users are given the ClickOnce webpage URL, then download the application from there. after download and running the application, the application prompts users with a login form. If their credentials are authenticated, the application loads the customized settings from the server's database according to the credentials given. The problem is, any unauthenticated users can download the application if they just know the ClickOnce deployement webpage's URL. Unauthenticated users won't be able to run the application anyways, because the application asks for credentials when started, but I want to prevent the unauthenticated users from downloading the application at all. Am I asking the wrong question maybe? Your help is much appreciated!

    Setting oauth with some providers is always kind of weird; currently hitting a problem concerning the callback, i had made everything work very nicely with google, getting redirected back specifying the callback url in both the get_request_token and redirect url param oauth_callback= but it then for some reason stopped redirecting, i'm currently stuck with the pin to specify over at google. I seeking explanations about this, if anybody went through the same kind of problem. thx

    Using javascript, I need to parse the Content-Type text/html portion of an email message and extract just the HTML part. Here's an example of the part of the mail source in question: ------=_Part_1504541_510475628.1327512846983 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <html ... a bunch of html ... /html> I want to extract everything between (and including) the <html> tags after text/html. How do I do this? NOTE: I'm OK with a hacky regex. I don't expect this to be bulletproof.

  • Managing important runtime business logic with regard to a codebase

    I'm working on a project which will end up have a lot of application information stored in the form of records in a database. In this case, it's the configuration of data views: which grid columns to show/hide default filters to apply to each grid view column titles sorting subtotaling ... This information is a big part of the value of the application and is essential to it's function. The data will be altered by admins a fair amount, so it's not static and it wouldn't be appropriate to have to deploy a new version of the app every time the data changes. The question is, Where should this data be stored? It will definitely live in the database because that's how it's accessed, but I feel like it needs to also be kept with the version controlled codebase because it's an integral part of functioning of the application. Has anyone dealt with an issue like this before? What did you end up doing?

    I have implemented the Ajax Autocomplete feature in my application using a web service file that querys my database and it works great. One problem I am having is allowing the user to see the item's name, as that's what they are typing in the textbox, but when they select it, it saves the item's ID number instead of the actual name. I want it to behave much like a dropdown list, where I can specify what is seen and entered vs. what is actually saved in the database (in this case, the product ID instead of it's name.) The T-SQL code does exactly what I want, which is to make a single result based on the results of a query, which will then be used in another query. However, I can't figure out how the SELECT @column_list =... statement is putting multiple values into a single string of characters by being inside a SELECT statement. Without the assignment to @column_list, the SELECT statement would simply return multiple rows. How is it that by having the variable within the SELECT statement that the results get "flattened" down into one value? How should I read this T-SQL to properly understand what's going on?

It is completely 2D, and I draw bitmaps as sprites on the canvas, and it technically works, but I have a few features that I need to add that will require drawing many more bitmaps on the screen, and there will be a lot more movement. The app needs more power. What is the best way to go from this method of drawing Bitmaps on a canvas to using OpenGL so I can draw them faster?

I'm doing this through an html file containing ` div { color:blue; } span { color:red; } var x; $.get("return.php", function(data){ x = data; }) function showAlert() {alert(x);} $(document).ready(function(){ alert(x); }); ` When the button is clicked it retrieves and displays the code fine, but on the page loading, it displays "undefined" instead of the data in return.php.     I have several lists in Matlab that I want to write to the same excel file. I have one list xordered and another list aspl. I do not know the length of the lists till after I run the Matlab program. I used data = xlswrite('edgar.xls',fliplr(sortedx'),'A2:A3000') for the first list but when I tried to write another list to the same file like this I ended up with two different excel files named edgar.xls asp_data = xlswrite('edagr.xls', fliplr(aspl'), 'B2:B3000') Is there a way I can write both of these lists into the same excel file? xordered in the A column and aspl in the B column?

The ideal one should be: compendious and handy, I'm not looking for ECMA standart reference. type specific, even if JS is not strong typed function arguments and returns have a type. browser specific, no matter the standards every browser is different and this ambiguity is killing me. examples, they are always handy. off line, this would be fine but it's not a condition.     A simplification... A building has an array of apartment objects. Each apartment has a single currentTenant. These tenants are of type Person. Note that currentTenant doesn't have a reference to the apartment, so can't send information back up the chain. When a tenant has a plumbing issue he raises an NSNotification: [nc postNotificationName:@"PlumbingIssue" object:self]; Each Apartment observes notifications ONLY FROM it's own current tenant (this is set up when the apartment is built, before there is a current tenant): [nc addObserver:self selector:@selector(alertBuildingManager:) name:@"PlumbingIssue" object:[self currentTenant]; When the apartment receives a notification from it's own currentTenant, it sends it's own notification, "PlumberRequired", along with the apartment number and the currentTenant in an NSDictionary. Apartment observes these notifications, which it will take from any apartment (or other object): [nc addObserver:self selector:@selector(callPlumber) name:@"PlumberRequired" object:nil]; Is there something I could be getting fundamentally wrong here? What's happening is that the apartment is receiving notifications from any and all currentTenants, rather than jus it's own. Sorry that the actual code is a bit too unwieldy to post. Was just wondering if there's a gap in my understanding about observing notifications from a particular sender?

  • Latex: index of symbols

    I want to create an index of symbols or notation, similar to the usual index one obtains with makeindex. I have gotten this to work, using the glossaries package. However, just as in the usual index, I would like to get two columns in the index of symbols, while glossaries puts everything under each other. Commands like twocolumn or multicol also do not work, because then the second column starts higher than the first, above the title of the index of symbols. Any suggestions?
