  • Can grep be used on a Perl variable?

    - by Structure
Is it possible one way or another to, within a Perl script, effectively execute grep against a Perl variable? An equivalent Perl function would be equally acceptable, I just want to keep the solution as simple as possible. For example: #!/usr/bin/perl #!/bin/grep $var="foobar"; $newvar="system('grep -o "foo" $var'); sprintf $newvar; Where I expect sprintf $newvar to output foo. Would also welcome any feedback on best practice here. I am not extremely familiar with Perl.

  • SML/NJ incomplete match

    - by dimvar
I wonder how people handle nonexhaustive match warnings in the SML/NJ compiler. For example, I may define a datatype datatype DT = FOO of int | BAR of string and then have a function that I know only takes FOOs fun baz (FOO n) = n + 1 The compiler will give a warning stdIn:1.5-1.24 Warning: match nonexhaustive FOO n = ... val baz = fn : DT - int I don't wanna see warnings for incomplete matches I did on purpose, because then I have to scan through the output to find a warning that might actually be a bug. I can write the function like this fun baz (FOO n) = n + 1 | baz _ = raise Fail "baz" but this clutters the code. What do people usually do in this situation?

  • CreateChildControls AFTER Postback

    - by Francois
I'm creating my own CompositeControl: a collection of MyLineWebControl and a "add" button. When the user press the "add" button, a new MyLineWebControl is added. In CreateChildControls(), I run through my model (some object MyGridOfLines which has a collection of MyLine) and add one MyLineWebControl for each MyLine. In addButton.Click, I add a new MyLine to my object MyGridOfLines. But, since the Click event method is called after CreateChildControls(), the new MyLineWebControl will be only displayed on the next postback. What can I do to "redraw" immediately my control, without loosing values that I've entered in each input?

    I am creating my rows dynamically when the user clicks on "Ajouter". <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <script> function getXhr(){ var xhr = null; if(window.XMLHttpRequest) // Firefox and others xhr = new XMLHttpRequest(); else if(window.ActiveXObject){ // Internet Explorer try { xhr = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { xhr = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } else { // XMLHttpRequest not supported by your browser alert("Votre navigateur ne supporte pas les objets XMLHTTPRequest..."); xhr = false; } return xhr } /** * method called when the user clicks on the button */ function go(){ var xhr = getXhr() // We defined what we gonna do with the response xhr.onreadystatechange = function(){ // We do somthing once the server's response is OK if(xhr.readyState == 4 && xhr.status == 200){ //alert(xhr.responseText); var body = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0]; // Retrieve <table> ID and create a <tbody> element var tbl = document.getElementById("table"); var tblBody = document.createElement("tbody"); var row = document.createElement("tr"); // Create <td> elements and a text node, make the text // node the contents of the <td>, and put the <td> at // the end of the table row var cell_1 = document.createElement("td"); var cell_2 = document.createElement("td"); var cell_3 = document.createElement("td"); var cell_4 = document.createElement("td"); // Create the first cell which is a text zone var cell1=document.createElement("input"); cell1.type="text"; cell1.name="fname"; cell1.size="20"; cell1.maxlength="50"; cell_1.appendChild(cell1); // Create the second cell which is a text area var cell2=document.createElement("textarea"); cell2.name="fdescription"; cell2.rows="2"; cell2.cols="30"; cell_2.appendChild(cell2); var cell3 = document.createElement("div"); cell3.innerHTML=xhr.responseText; cell_3.appendChild(cell3); // Create the fourth cell which is a href var cell4 = document.createElement("a"); cell4.appendChild(document.createTextNode("[Delete]")); cell4.setAttribute("href","javascrit:deleteRow();"); cell_4.appendChild(cell4); // add cells to the row row.appendChild(cell_1); row.appendChild(cell_2); row.appendChild(cell_3); row.appendChild(cell_4); // add the row to the end of the table body tblBody.appendChild(row); // put the <tbody> in the <table> tbl.appendChild(tblBody); // appends <table> into <body> body.appendChild(tbl); // sets the border attribute of tbl to 2; tbl.setAttribute("border", "1"); } } xhr.open("GET","fstatus.php",true); xhr.send(null); } </head> <body > <h1> Create an Item </h1> <form method="post"> <table align="center" border = "2" cellspacing ="0" cellpadding="3" id="table"> <tr><td><b>Functionality Name:</b></td> <td><b>Description:</b></td> <td><b>Status:</b></td> <td><input type="button" Name= "Ajouter" Value="Ajouter" onclick="go()"></td></tr> </table> </form> </body> </html> Now, I would like to use the href [Delete] to delete one particular row. I wrote this: <script type="text/javascript"> function deleteRow(r){ var i=r.parentNode.parentNode.rowIndex; document.getElementById('table').deleteRow(i); } </script> When I change the first code like this: cell4.setAttribute("href","javascrit:deleteRow(this);"); I got an error: The page cannot be displayed.   • Using boost::asio::async_read with stdin?

    - by yeus
hi poeple.. short question: I have a realtime-simulation which is running as a backround process and is connected with pipes to the calling pogramm. I want to send commands to that process using stdin to get certain information from it via stdout. Now because it is a real-time process, it has to be a non blocking input. Is boost::asio::async_read in conjunction with iostream::cin a good idea for this task? how would I use that function if it is feasible? Any more suggestions?

  • Regular Expression Help in .NET

    - by Matt H.
I have a simple pattern I am trying to match, any characters captured between parenthesis at the end of an HTML paragraph. I am running into trouble any time there is additional parentheticals in that paragraph: i.e. If the input string is "..... (321)</p" i want to get the value (321) However, if the paragraph has this text: "... (123) (321)</p" my regex is returning "(123) (321)" (everything between the opening "(" and closing ")" I am using the regex pattern "\s(.+)</p" How can I grab the correct value (using VB.NET) This is what I'm doing so far: Dim reg As New Regex("\s\(.+\)</P>", RegexOptions.IgnoreCase) Dim matchC As MatchCollection = reg.Matches(su.Question) If matchC.Count > 0 Then Dim lastMatch As Match = matchC(matchC.Count - 1) Dim DesiredValue As String = lastMatch.Value End If

  • PHP Dynamic Breadcrumb, small modification

    - by Adrian M.
Hello, I got this code from someone and it works very well, I just want to remove the link from the last element of the array: //get rid of empty parts $crumbs = array_filter($crumbs); $result = array(); $path = ''; foreach($crumbs as $crumb){ $path .= '/' . $crumb; $name = ucfirst(str_replace(array(".php","_"),array(""," "), $crumb)); $result[] = "<a href=\"$path\">$name</a>"; } print implode(' > ', $result); This will output for example: Content Common File I just want a to remove the link from the last item - "File" to be just plain text.. I tried myself to count the array items and then if the array item is the last one then to print as plain text the last item.. but I'm still noob, I haven't managed to get a proper result.. Thank you!

  • Logging into table in MS SQL trigger

    - by Martin
I am coding MS SQL 2005 trigger. I want to make some logging during trigger execution, using INSERT statement into my log table. When there occurs error during execution, I want to raise error and cancel action that cause trigger execution, but not to lose log records. What is the best way to achieve this? Now my trigger logs everything except situation when there is error - because of ROLLBACK. RAISERROR statement is needed in order to inform calling program about error. Now, my error handling code looks like: if (@err = 1) begin INSERT INTO dbo.log(date, entry) SELECT getdate(), 'ERROR: ' + out from #output RAISERROR (@msg, 16, 1) rollback transaction return end

  • replace a text string

    - by shantanuo
I want to replace the date found at the end of the "datadir" line with the current date. For e.g. my my.cnf file looks like this... # head /etc/my.cnf [mysqld] #mount -t tmpfs -o size=102m tmpfs /mnt #datadir=/mnt read-only datadir=/mysqlApr5 #datadir=/mysqlApr2 #datadir=/mysqlMar16 #datadir=/mysqlFeb25a Most of the lines are commented. I need to find the datadir line that is not commented and then replace the /mysqlApr4 with /mysqlApr20 datadir=/mysqlApr20 If it is possible I will like to comment the older datadir path. #datadir=/mysqlApr5 I can output the current date as: date '+%b%d' But I want to concat it with the word "/mysql" and replace or comment the current datadir line.

  • IPv6 parsing in C

    - by The Stig
I wanted to know how i can parse an IPv6 address in 'C' and convert it to a 128 bit value? So a hex address like 1:22:333:aaaa:b:c:d:e:f needs to be converted to its 128 bit equivalent binary. The problem is the IP address could be of the type ::2 and its variant since they are valid IPv6 address. The input is from the keyboard and hence is in ASCII format. Any suggestions or pointers will be appreciated. Thanks!!!

  • What are some good design patterns for CRUD?

    - by Extrakun
I am working with a number of data entities which can be created, read, updated and deleted, and I find myself writing more or less the same code for them. For example, I need to sometimes output data as JSON, and sometimes in a table format. I am finding myself writing 2 different types of view to export the data to. Also, the creation of those entities within DB usually differs just by the SQL statements and the input parameters. I am thinking of creating a strategy pattern to represent different 'contexts'. For example, the read() method of an AJAX context will be to return the data as JSON. However, I wonder if others have deal with this problem beforehand and will like to know what design patterns are usually use for CRUD operations.

  • Latex --- Is there a way to shift the equation numbering one tab space from the right margin (shift

    - by Murari
I have been formatting my dissertation and one little problem is stucking me up. I used the following code to typeset an equation \begin{align} & R=\frac{P^2}{P+S'} \label{eqn:SCS}\\ &\mbox {where} \quad \mbox R = \mbox {Watershed Runoff} \notag\\ &\hspace{0.63in} \mbox P = \mbox{Rainfall} \notag\\ &\hspace{0.63in} \mbox S' = \mbox{Storage in the watershed $=\frac{1000}{CN}-10$ }\notag \end{align} My output requirement is such that: The equation should begin one tab space from the left margin The equation number should end at one tab space from the right margin With the above code, I have the equation begin at the right place but not the numbering. Any help will be extremely appreciated. Thanks MP

  • On-line business card creator with PDF proof

    - by Adam
I'm doing some research, and looking to create a simple on-line business card creator. I need to give users the ability to pick a business card template and then update the text with their own information. Then I need to create a PDF proof for the user to sign off on, as well as create a hi-rez pdf for print. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm trying to find some resources on how to create the PDF Heres a quick example I found of what I'm trying to do. https://www.staplescopyandprint.ca/PrintOnline/InputFields.aspx?type=PersonalCard Any input at this point would be a big help thanks!

  • How can I compile a Perl script inside a running Perl session?

    - by Joel
I have a Perl script that takes user input and creates another script that will be run at a later date. I'm currently going through and writing tests for these scripts and one of the tests that I would like to perform is checking if the generated script compiles successfully (e.g. perl -c <script>.) Is there a way that I can have Perl perform a compile on the generated script without having to spawn another Perl process? I've tried searching for answers, but searches just turn up information about compiling Perl scripts into executable programs.

  • this.select() and javascript events on forms

    - by aloishis89
I have a form box that I want to be always selected. I was able to get it to select everything in the box when it is clicked (using onFocus="this.select()") but I want it to be selected 100% of the time. The text in the box will be always changing, so I tried using onChange="this.select()" but that didn't work. Here's what I have: <form> <input type="text" id="txt1" size="30" maxlength="1" onkeyup="showHint(this.value)" onFocus="this.select()" onBlur="this.select()" onChange="this.select()" value="Click here, then press a key"/> </form> Basically I just tried to call everything in hopes that something would work, but it is still acting as if only onFocus="this.select()" is there. By the way, this is for controlling something via keyboard, which is why the maxlength is only 1. I want it to be always selected so that when new key are pressed, the last command will be changed without having to use backspace.

  • Simple but efficient way to store a series of small changes to an image?

    - by finnw
I have a series of images. Each one is typically (but not always) similar to the previous one, with 3 or 4 small rectangular regions updated. I need to record these changes using a minimum of disk space. The source images are not compressed, but I would like the deltas to be compressed. I need to be able to recreate the images exactly as input (so a lossy video codec is not appropriate.) I am thinking of something along the lines of: Composite the new image with a negative of the old image Save the composited image in any common format that can compress using RLE (probably PNG.) Recreate the second image by compositing the previous image with the delta. Although the images have an alpha channel, I can ignore it for the purposes of this function. Is there an easy-to-implement algorithm or free Java library with this capability?

  • DragDrop registration did not succeed in Setup Project

    - by rodnower
Hello, we have some installation project in Visual Studio solution (Other project types - Setup and deployment - Setup project). This project have other library type project with Installation class named InstallationCore like project output. In user action I call to Install and Uninstall functions of installer of InstallationCore. InstallationCore has windows forms for interaction with user. There, in forms, I use Drag and Drop functionality for Drag and Drop text from Tree View to Text Box. But in line: txbUserName.AllowDrop = true; I get error of JIT debugger: Unhandled exception has occured DragDrop registration did not succeed System.InvalidOperationException: DragDrop registration did not succeed And long stack trace after that. Important to say, that when I run Installer function from test project the error did not occur and all work fine. Error occurs only when I run the .msi package. Any suggestions? Thank you for ahead.

  • Spring - MVC - Sanitize URL before redisplaying to the user

    - by Raghav
In my application , a HTTP GET request URL to the application with script tag is getting redisplayed as it is although it fails the authorization. Example: http://www.example.com/welcome<script>alert("hi")</script> The issue is sanitizing external input entered directly into address bar by modifying existing GET URL. Spring redisplays the submitted URL as it is. Though the script does not get executed in the browser(FF), is there anyway to strip the URL of these values before displaying it back to the user Reference: Spring MVC application filtering HTML in URL - Is this a security issue?

  • x86 assembler question

    - by b-gen-jack-o-neill
Hi, I have 2 simple, but maybe tricky questions. Let´s say I have assembler instruction: MOV EAX,[ebx+6*7] - what I am curious is, does this instruction really actually translates into opcode as it stands,so computation of code in brackets is encoded into opcode, or is this just pseudo intruction for compiler, not CPU, so that compiler before computes the value in brackets using add mul and so, store outcome in some reg and than uses MOV EAX,reg with computed value? Just to be clear, I know the output will be the same. I am interested in execution. Second is about LEA instruction. I know what it does, but I am more interested wheather its real instruction, so compiles does not further change it, just make it into opcode as it stands, or just pseudo code for compiler to, again, first compute adress and than store it.

  • How does memory management in Java and C# differ?

    - by David Johnstone
I was reading through 2010 CWE/SANS Top 25 Most Dangerous Programming Errors and one of the entries is for Buffer Copy without Checking Size of Input. It suggests using a language with features to prevent or mitigate this problem, and says: For example, many languages that perform their own memory management, such as Java and Perl, are not subject to buffer overflows. Other languages, such as Ada and C#, typically provide overflow protection, but the protection can be disabled by the programmer. I was not aware that Java and C# differed in any meaningful way with regard to memory management. How is it that Java is not subject to buffer overflows, while C# only protects against overflows? And how is it possible to disable this protection in C#?

  • Rails i18n and routes in javascript

    - by StefanS
Sometimes it would be really handy to have the Rails localization files available in JavaScript. Same is true for for the routes helpers. I found these two plugins which are exactly doing this: Exposing i18n to JavaScript: http://github.com/fnando/i18n-js Rails Routes in JavaScript: http://tore.darell.no/pages/javascript_routes My questions: Are there any other plugins / gems doing similar things like the two above? What's the right approach in Rails? Meta tag? Additional data- attributes? Thanks for any input!
