• Convert byte array to understandable String

  I have a program that handles byte arrays in Java, and now I would like to write this into a XML file. However, I am unsure as to how I can convert the following byte array into a sensible String to write to a file. Assuming that it was Unicode characters I attempted the following code: String temp = new String(encodedBytes, "UTF-8"); Only to have the debugger show that the encodedBytes contain "\ufffd\ufffd ^\ufffd\ufffd-m\ufffd\ufffd\/ufffd \ufffd\ufffdIA\ufffd\ufffd". The String should contain a hash in alphanumerical format. How would I turn the above String into a sensible String for output?

  What entries in a web.config could allow certain files to become publicly accessible after a certain date and time? Specifically, we have these files starting with AB_.jpg where the _ could be anything. We put them in a folder on April 27th for example, but they shouldn't be accessible until April 30th at 11:59:59 PM. I think the web.config in part works like Unix's FTP .htaccess file to define file security.   I am using nothing but raw Socket IO. There isn't one HttpURLConnection nor any http client libs in my project. However if I go to following url I can see that 16964 changeset has reviews assigned to it: http://fisheye.company.com/changelog/NameOfRepository?cs=16964 I also tried to use: http://fisheye.company.com/rest-service-fe/search-v1/reviewsForChangeset/NameOfRepository/ I got the same response. Am I missing something?

• I can't change HTTP request header Content-Type value using jQuery

  Hi I tried to override HTTP request header content by using jQuery's AJAX function. It looks like this $.ajax({ type : "POST", url : url, data : data, contentType: "application/x-www-form-urlencoded;charset=big5", beforeSend: function(xhr) { xhr.setRequestHeader("Accept-Charset","big5"); xhr.setRequestHeader("Content-Type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded;charset=big5"); }, success: function(rs) { target.html(rs); } }); Content-Type header is default to "application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8", but it obviously I can't override its value no matter I use 'contentType' or 'beforeSend' approaches. Could anyone adivse me a hint that how do I or can I change the HTTP request's content-type value? thanks a lot. btw, is there any good documentation that I can study JavaScript's XMLHttpRequest's encoding handling?

• 2-byte (UCS-2) wide strings under GCC

  Hi all, when porting my Visual C++ project to GCC, I found out that the wchar_t datatype is 4-byte UTF-32 by default. I could override that with a compiler option, but then the whole wcs* (wcslen, wcscmp, etc.) part of RTL is rendered unusable, since it assumes 4-byte wide strings. For now, I've reimplemented 5-6 of these functions from scratch and #defined my implementations in. But is there a more elegant option - say, a build of GCC RTL with 2-byte wchar-t quietly sitting somewhere, waiting to be linked? The specific flavors of GCC I'm after are Xcode on Mac OS X, Cygwin, and the one that comes with Debian Linux Etch.

• Track unicode words from Twitter using Ruby and the Tweetstream API

  I am trying to track a set of keywords from Twitter by using the Streaming API (can't post the link here because of spam limitations: google twitter streaming API). I am doing this inside Ruby, using the TweetStream gem: http://bit.ly/cODAWI The problem I have is that I want to track keywords that contain some unicode/UTF-8 characters. For instance: require 'rubygems' require 'tweetstream' TweetStream::Client.new("my_user_name", "my_password").track("é") do |s| puts s.text end (you can try it out, provided you installed the tweetstream and json gems) This piece of code does not print anything, while replacing "é" with "e" outputs a bunch of tweets continuously.   Trying to connect to 4D Database. PHPINFO says PDO is installed etc etc... Testing on localhost MAMP system.   I have the following code, which uses a Unicode string class from a library that I'm writing: #include <cstdio> #include "ucpp" main() { ustring a = "test"; ustring b = "ing"; ustring c = "- -"; ustring d; d = "cafe\xcc\x81"; printf("%s\n", (a + b + c[1] + d).encode()); } The encode method of the ustring class instances converts the internal Unicode into a UTF-8 char *. However, because I don't have access to the char class definition, I am unsure on how I can define an implicit typecast (so that I don't have to manually call encode when using with printf, etc).

  All the examples of json I can find online only show how to submit json arrays w/ the jquery command $.ajax(). I'm submitting some data from a custom user control as a json array. I was wondering if it's possible to submit a json array as a regular post request to the server (like a normal form) so the browser renders the page returned. Controller: [JsonFilter(Param = "record", JsonDataType = typeof(TitleViewModel))] public ActionResult SaveTitle(TitleViewModel record) { // save the title. return RedirectToAction("Index", new { titleId = tid }); } Javascript: function SaveTitle() { var titledata = GetData(); $.ajax({ url: "/Listing/SaveTitle", type: "POST", data: titledata, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", }); } Which is called from a save button. Everything works fine but the browser stays on the page after submitting. I was thinking of returning some kind of custom xml from the server and do javascript redirect but it seems like a very hacky way of doing things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Images to video - converting to IplImage makes video blue

  I want to create a video from images using opencv. The strange problem is that if i will write image (bmp) to disk and then load (cv.LoadImage) it it renders fine, but when i try to load image from StringIO and convert it to IplImage, it turns video to blue.   I am trying to use a config file in my C# console application. I created the file within the project by going New -- Application Configuration File, and naming it myProjectName.config. My config file looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <appSettings> <add key="SSDirectory" value="D:\Documents and Settings\****\MyDocuments\****" /> </appSettings> </configuration> The code to access it looks like this: private FileValidateUtil() { sSDirFilePath = ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings["SSDirectory"]; if (sSDirFilePath == null) Console.WriteLine("config file not reading in."); } Can anyone lend a hint as to why this is not working?
