  • compiling Boost linked libraries (Ubuntu)

    - by Adam Greenhall
    I installed Boost via sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev on the most recent version of Ubuntu. Now I want to compile a project that uses the Boost.Serialization library, which needs to be linked. I've tried many variants of the following, without success: gcc -I /usr/lib code.cpp -o compiled /usr/lib/libboost_serialization.a and gcc -I /usr/lib code.cpp -o compiled -l libboost_serialization The error message is: error: ‘split_member’ is not a member of ‘boost::serialization ` What am I missing?

  • Search inside dynamic array in python

    - by user2091683
    I want to implement a code that loops inside an array that its size is set by the user that means that the size isn't constant. for example: A=[1,2,3,4,5] then I want the output to be like this: [1],[2],[3],[4],[5] [1,2],[1,3],[1,4],[1,5] [2,3],[2,4],[2,5] [3,4],[3,5] [4,5] [1,2,3],[1,2,4],[1,2,5] [1,3,4],[1,3,5] and so on [1,2,3,4],[1,2,3,5] [2,3,4,5] [1,2,3,4,5] Can you help me implement this code?

  • Python 3.2: How to pass a dictionary into str.format()

    - by Robert Dailey
    I've been reading the Python 3.2 docs about string formatting but it hasn't really helped me with this particular problem. Here is what I'm trying to do: stats = { 'copied': 5, 'skipped': 14 } print( 'Copied: {copied}, Skipped: {skipped}'.format( stats ) ) The above code will not work because the format() call is not reading the dictionary values and using those in place of my format placeholders. How can I modify my code to work with my dictionary?

  • syntax problem crating a method that returns an object (java)

    - by David
    I'm trying to create a method that will sum two timeO objects and return a new TimeO object called sum. Here is the relevant code snippet: public static TimeO add (TimeO t1, TimeO t2) { TimeO sum = new TimeO ; ... } When i try to compile it i get this error message: TimeO.java:15: '(' or '[' expected TimeO sum = new TimeO ; ^ 1 error i cant think of any reason why it would want me to open a set of parenthasies or brackets here but its possible that i dont' quite understand the syntax. Whats going wrong here?

  • Problem with non-copyable classes

    - by DeadMG
    I've got some non-copyable classes. I don't invoke any of the copy operators or constructor, and this code compiles fine. But then I upgraded to Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate instead of Professional. Now the compiler is calling the copy constructor- even when the move constructor should be invoked. For example, in the following snippet: inline D3D9Mesh CreateSphere(D3D9Render& render, float radius, float slices) { D3D9Mesh retval(render); /* ... */ return std::move(retval); } Error: Cannot create copy constructor, because the class is non-copyable. However, I quite explicitly moved it.

  • Is `std::string(strerror(errno))` dangerous?

    - by StackedCrooked
    At some places in my code, I print debug messages like this: int ret = getLinkSpeed(device.getSysName(), linkSpeed); if (ret < 0) { logDebug("Failed to obtain port speed for this device. Error: " + std::string(strerror(errno))); } From the documentation it is not entirely clear if strerror will return 0 under certain conditions (which would cause my code to crash). Does anyone know if it's safe?

  • memory leaks in Instruments

    - by jj
    I'm getting lots of leaks in my code, but none of the leaks point to any of my code (they are all UIKit methods). I'm running 3.0. Could someone tell me how I go about figuring out where these leaks are coming from?

  • What makes C faster than Python?

    - by Chris
    I know this is probably a very obvious answer and that I'm exposing myself to less-than-helpful snarky comments, but I don't know the answer so here goes. If Python compiles to bytecode at runtime, is it just that initial compiling step that takes longer? If that's the case wouldn't that just be a small upfront cost in the code (ie if the code is running over a long period of time, do the differences between C and python diminish?)

    - by piemesons
    I'm newly using CODE::BLOCKS+mingw compiler If I don't type return 0 at the end of program,I can see that main() is returning some integer,I learnt that main() returning 0 infers program executes successfully.I don't find any flaw in my code, why is it returning some integer? secondly any function returns its value to its function call, to where does main() return its value?

  • Can this be solved by using just regex?

    - by Lost_in_code
    I need to convert $text = 'We had <i>fun</i>. Look at <a href="http://example.com">this photo</a> of Joe' to $text = 'We had fun. Take a look at this photo (http://example.com) of Joe' All HTML tags are to be removed and the href value from <a> tags needs to be added like above. What would be an efficient way to solve this? Any code snippet would be great.

  • Merging elements in a scala list

    - by scompt.com
    I'm trying to port the following Java snippet to Scala. It takes a list of MyColor objects and merges all of the ones that are within a delta of each other. It seems like a problem that could be solved elegantly using some of Scala's functional bits. Any tips? List<MyColor> mergedColors = ...; MyColor lastColor = null; for(Color aColor : lotsOfColors) { if(lastColor != null) { if(lastColor.diff(aColor) < delta) { lastColor.merge(aColor); continue; } } lastColor = aColor; mergedColors.add(aColor); }

  • How can I find if an arbitrary process is running under wow64?

    - by LCC
    I need a tool which will discover whether an arbitrary process is running in x86 or x64 mode on a machine. I need to do this programatically from C++, based on a process ID. There has to be some way to do this (as you can clearly see it from the task manager). Does anyone know of a windows api that will tell you, given a process ID, whether the application is running under wow64? Another approach would be to figure out, based on the process id, the executable name/path that is running and try to read the PE headers out of the file. Does anyone have a code snippet that would accomplish that?
