    Hi all, I have a javascript that dynamically creates many <img> tags, and appends them to various divs. I want to prevent these images from wrapping; when the screen resolution is not enough to contain them the browser should create horizontal scroll-bars. Sorry for this bad English.

  • Play/pause HTML 5 video using JQuery

    I am trying to control HTML5 videos using JQuery. I have two clips in a tabbed interface, there are six tabs in total, the others just have images. I am trying to make the video clips play when their tab is clicked and then stop when any of the others are clicked. This must be a simple thing to do but I cant seem to get it to work, the code I am using to play the video is: $('#playMovie1').click(function(){ $('#movie1').play(); }); I have read that the video element needs to be exposed in a function to be able to control it but can't find an example. I am able to make it work using JS: document.getElementById('movie1').play(); Any advice would be great. Thanks

    hi, how can I fix this problem on Internet Explorer 7: If I resize the browser window you'll see that the letters of the last tag on the right (in the header) are displayed in vertical one above each other. This happen only in IE, and not in other browser (you can better see the bug by visiting the website: http://www.sanstitre.ch/drupal/portfolio How can I ask IE 7 to consider the word as block, and move it to next line instead of listing the letters in vertical ? thanks

  • Background image help

    is there any way when using a div for a background image- to limit the height to only the content displayed? im putting the background image in a div because i want it centered via position:relative but the image doesnt show up unless i put a height on the div, and thats not what i want because i dont want to be able to just scroll down to the bottom of the image where theres no content ive tried putting the background image on the body css but if the browser is less than the width of the image, it just throws it over to the left and you can only see half of it- is there no way to make the background position:relative on the body? sorry if that doesnt make sense < thanks

I submitted a form, to create single row in SQL database table, as a blog entry: <p>This is a paragraph.</p> And the result, when I query it out for display, via Rails's ActiveRecord, it rendered like this, : <p>This is a paragraph.</p> and here's the code, when I view source in browser: &lt;p&gt;This is a paragraph.&lt;/p&gt; How do I solve this? Or I just have to convert the < and > by Javascript? Thank you :)

  • Dynamic HTML body width (over 100%)

    I am creating a horizontal webpage and I am trying to make the body dynamically expand according to the content within it. I am building the website here: http://www.obliquo.co.uk/ As you can see it all works, but I am forced to setting a huge body width in pixel value. The content on the page will be changing all the time. If I don't set a width in pixels, the divs start bumping vertically, naturally.

  • How do I tell Thunderbird **never** to send (or even try to send) html emails?

    I hate html-based email, and always do everything possible to send my emails as plain text. My email client is Thunderbird, and it's always pestering me with questions like "This recipient cannot receive html..." or "In order to sign this email, it needs to be converted to plain text..." Is there a way I can simply say to Thunderbird "Look, old chap, it's all plain text, so don't bother me any more, ever, again"?

  • C# Tip - Rendering HTML in a Gridview cell

    Just a quick tip for working with the gridview in ASP.Net.  If your data column contains HTML text, you've probably seen something like this in your gridview after pulling the data: <font color="red">First Item</font><br/><font color="green">Second Item</font><br/><font color="blue">Third Item</font> To have the relevant column render in HTML, just go to your gridview property pages, find the column you need rendered in HTML, and click 'convert this Field into a TemplateField'.  The result is that as a template field, HTML within your bound data value will be rendered properly.  So our example above would transform into: First Item Second Item Third Item I primarily use this technique for enabling HTML content in comment fields, and to insert line breaks when building the data for these fields. One thing missing is HTML Tidy integration, until now: As you can see, in this particular file, HTML Tidy finds 6 times more problems (OK, some of them maybe false negatives) than the standard NetBeans HTML hint infrastructure does. You can also run the scanner across the whole project or all projects. Only HTML files will be scanned by HTML Tidy (via JTidy) and you can click on items in the window above to jump to the line. Future enhancements will include error annotations and hint integration, some of which has already been addressed in this blog over the years.   • How do I solve an unresolved external when using C++ Builder packages?

    I'm experimenting with reconfiguring my application to make heaving use of packages. Both I and another developer running a similar experiment are running into a bit of trouble when linking using several different packages. We're probably both doing something wrong, but goodness knows what :) The situation is this: The first package, PackageA.bpl, contains C++ class FooA. The class is declared with the PACKAGE directive. The second package, PackageB.bpl, contains a class inheriting from FooA, called FooB. It includes FooB.h, and the package is built using runtime packages, and links to PackageA by adding a reference to PackageA.bpi. I can see entries for the specific things ILink32 says it's looking for and not finding. Running TDump on the BPI file shows similar entries. Other info The class does descend from TObject, though originally before refactoring into packages it was a normal C++ class. (More detail below. It seems "safer" using VCL-style classes when trying to solve problems with a very Delphi-ish thing like this anyway. Changing this only changes the order of unresolved externals to first not find Method1 and Method2, then others.) Declaration for FooA: class PACKAGE FooA: public TObject { public: FooA(); virtual __fastcall ~FooA(); FooA(const FooA&); virtual __fastcall long Method1() const; virtual __fastcall long Method2() const; }; and FooB: class FooB: public FooA { public: FooB(); virtual __fastcall ~FooB(); ... other methods... }; All methods definitely are implemented in the .cpp files, so it's not not finding them because they don't exist! The .cpp files also contain #pragma package(smart_init) near the top, under the includes. Questions that might help... Are packages reliable using C++, or are they only useable with Delphi code? Is linking to the first package by adding a reference to its BPI correct - is that how you're supposed to do it? I could use a LIB but it seems to make the second package much larger, and I suspect it's statically linking in the contents of the first. Can we use the PACKAGE directive only on TObject-derived classes? There is no compiler warning using it on standard C++ classes. Is splitting code into packages the best way to achieve the goal of isolating code and communicating through defined layers / interfaces? I've been investigating this path because it seems to be the C++Builder / Delphi Way, and if it worked it looks attractive. But are there better alternatives? I'm very new to using packages and have only known about them through using components before. Any general words of advice would be great! We're using C++Builder 2010. I've fabricated the class and method names in the above code examples, but other than that the details are exactly what we're seeing. Cheers, David

    In ASP.NET you can tackle the internationalization requirement by taking advantage of native support to local and global resources used with the ResourceExpressionBuilder. But with this approach you cannot access public resources defined in external assemblies referenced by your Web application. However, since you can extend the .NET resource provider mechanism and create new expression builders you can workaround this limitation and use external resources in your ASPX pages much like you use local or global resources. Finally, if you are thinking, okay this is all very nice but where’s the code I can use?
