  • iPhone UI addSubview causing concurrency exception

    - by Eli
This is really odd... I run my app, and while it is opening and the views are constructing I get: Collection <CALayerArray: 0x124650> was mutated while being enumerated. The code trace goes through the following: main UIApplicationMain -[UIApplication _run] CFRunLoopRunInMode CFRunLoopRunSpecific _UIApplicationHandleEvent -[UIApplication sendEvent:] -[UIApplication handleEvent:withNewEvent:] -[UIApplication _runWithURL:sourceBundleID:] -[UIApplication _performInitilizationWithURL:sourceBundleID:] -[AppDelegate applicationDidFinishLaunching:] +[Controller initializeController] //This is my own function [window addSubview: pauseMenuController.view] //This is the last point of my code it goes through -[UIView(Hierarchy) addSubview:] -[UIView(Internal) _addSubview:positioned:relativeTo:] -[UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:] -[UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] -[UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] _NSFastEnumerationMutationHandler objc_exception_throw I've run the game lots and lots and lots of times and I've never seen this, then suddenly it popped up. The weird thing is that I'm not creating any other threads (that I know of) until after this code all gets called. It'll be easier for me to debug this if someone can give me some explanation of what might be getting modified while it's being accessed in a UIView. Does it have something to do with adding something to the view while it's already adding something, maybe? Any ideas?

  • how to make a explorer like logic in Obj C for iphone

    - by Ekra
Hi friends, To make the query simple first we can take example:- If we open the explorer in our Windows desktop how it shows us the tree. As we keep on clicking the tree it get expanded and shows the file in it. The same way I want to show a explorer which gets expanded as the user clicks on it(I want to get the business logic the UI is simple). The information of the explorer i.e. which folder has what files come in a XML format to me. I have 2 options of getting the XML either I can get the whole XML at one query(but I guess this might slow the application if the XML is quite big). OR I can get the XML for every list like first only the root structure then if user clicks on any folder in root I can get the list(the files or folders inside that folder) of that particular folder. Now the question is What would be the approach to implement both the method and which would be the best. Should I need to create some dictionary to maintain the link of the files like which file is inside what. I am not able to get as how I would be able to link all the files. Any hint or direction would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

  • Xcode raises exception when refactoring

    - by Sam Gwydir
When I run a refactor on my code in xcode, all the files are correctly refactored except one, and when I click to check the changes made in that file, the following 'Internal Error Occurs': Uncaught Exception: Invalid parameter not satisfying: fileName Stack Backtrace: The stack backtrace has been logged to the console. It will then raise this error without editing the file.

  • Adding a header view to a UIWebView similar to Safari and Articles

    - by MrMage
I'd like to add a header view to an UIWebView similar to the address/search bar in MobileSafari and the excellent Articles.app by Sophia Teutschler. More precisely, I'd like to create a "pull to fix orientation" view above a UIWebView, just like in Articles. Articles does use a UIWebView, so it seems to be possible. Is there a way to accomplish this without having to embed the UIWebView into a UIScrollView and updating its size all the time, as described in this article? Apparently, I do need the scrolling events to have the "pull to fix orientation" behave accordingly.

  • Avaudioplayer problem regarding songs

    - by Arun Sharma
I am using avaudioplayer for playing mp3 songs. The problem is in being able to catch the instance of the player to control it i.e. Stop it, Play it etc. The code by default creates multiple instances of the same player and overlaps the songs. I am being unable to reference the player specifically. Do you have an idea as to how we can do so? Thanks Arun Sharma

  • NSCalendar: Problem getting weeks in a month...

    - by AngrySpade
    I am creating a calendar control of sorts... One thing I need to know is how many weeks are there in a Month... So NSCalendar rangeOfUnit:inUnit:forDate Seems to be exactly what I need... Except I am noticing something that seems off and I can't quite figure out why this is happening... The following code... NSCalendar *calendar = [NSCalendar currentCalendar]; NSDateComponents *dateComponents = [[NSDateComponents alloc] init]; [dateComponents setYear: 2010]; [dateComponents setDay: 1]; for (int x=1; x<=12; x++) { [dateComponents setMonth: x]; NSDate *date = [calendar dateFromComponents:dateComponents]; NSLog(@"Date: %@", date); NSRange range = [calendar rangeOfUnit: NSWeekCalendarUnit inUnit: NSMonthCalendarUnit forDate:date]; NSLog(@"%d Weeks in Month %d", range.length, [dateComponents month]); } Is returning the following debug messages... 2010-03-14 13:08:10.350 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-01-01 00:00:00 -0500 2010-03-14 13:08:10.351 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 1 2010-03-14 13:08:10.352 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-02-01 00:00:00 -0500 2010-03-14 13:08:10.352 Scrap[4256:207] 4 Weeks in Month 2 2010-03-14 13:08:10.353 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-03-01 00:00:00 -0500 2010-03-14 13:08:10.353 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 3 2010-03-14 13:08:10.354 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-04-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.355 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 4 2010-03-14 13:08:10.356 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-05-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.357 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 5 2010-03-14 13:08:10.358 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-06-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.358 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 6 2010-03-14 13:08:10.359 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-07-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.360 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 7 2010-03-14 13:08:10.361 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-08-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.364 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 8 2010-03-14 13:08:10.364 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-09-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.365 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 9 2010-03-14 13:08:10.366 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-10-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.366 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 10 2010-03-14 13:08:10.367 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-11-01 00:00:00 -0400 2010-03-14 13:08:10.367 Scrap[4256:207] 5 Weeks in Month 11 2010-03-14 13:08:10.369 Scrap[4256:207] Date: 2010-12-01 00:00:00 -0500 2010-03-14 13:08:10.369 Scrap[4256:207] 52 Weeks in Month 12 I cant quite figure out why I get 52 weeks in month 12.   • NSString to NSData Failing in Encoding

    - by Travis
I'm trying to use NSXmlParser to parse ISO-8859-1 data. Using Apple's own example for parsing ISO-8859-1, I have the following. NSString *xmlFilePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:sampleFileName ofType:@"xml"]; NSString *xmlFileContents = [NSString stringWithContentsOfFile:xmlFilePath encoding:NSISOLatin1StringEncoding error:nil]; NSLog(@"contents: %@", xmlFileContents); I see that in the console, the contents of the string is accurate. However when I try to convert it to an NSData object (for use with the parser), I do the following. NSData *xmlData = [xmlFileContents dataUsingEncoding:NSISOLatin1StringEncoding]; But then when my didStartElement delegate gets called, I see  showing up which I think is from an encoding discrepancy. Can NSXmlParser handle ISO-8859-1 and if so, what am I doing wrong?

  • How do those bitmasks actually work?

    - by mystify
For example, this method from NSCalendar takes a bitmask: - (NSDate *)dateByAddingComponents:(NSDateComponents *)comps toDate:(NSDate *)date options:(NSUInteger)opts So options can be like: NSUInteger options = kCFCalendarUnitYear; or like: NSUInteger options = kCFCalendarUnitYear | kCFCalendarUnitMonth | kCFCalendarUnitDay; What I don't get is, how is this actually done? I mean: How can they pull out those values which are merged into options? If I wanted to program something like this, that can take a bitmask, how would that look?

  • Asynchronous NSURLConnection Throws EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by Sheehan Alam
I'm not really sure why my code is throwing a EXC_BAD_ACCESS, I have followed the guidelines in Apple's documentation: -(void)getMessages:(NSString*)stream{ NSString* myURL = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"http://www.someurl.com"]; NSURLRequest *theRequest = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:myURL]]; NSURLConnection *theConnection=[[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self]; if (theConnection) { receivedData = [[NSMutableData data] retain]; } else { NSLog(@"Connection Failed!"); } } And my delegate methods #pragma mark NSURLConnection Delegate Methods - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveResponse:(NSURLResponse *)response { // This method is called when the server has determined that it // has enough information to create the NSURLResponse. // It can be called multiple times, for example in the case of a // redirect, so each time we reset the data. // receivedData is an instance variable declared elsewhere. [receivedData setLength:0]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveData:(NSData *)data { // Append the new data to receivedData. // receivedData is an instance variable declared elsewhere. [receivedData appendData:data]; } - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didFailWithError:(NSError *)error { // release the connection, and the data object [connection release]; // receivedData is declared as a method instance elsewhere [receivedData release]; // inform the user NSLog(@"Connection failed! Error - %@ %@", [error localizedDescription], [[error userInfo] objectForKey:NSErrorFailingURLStringKey]); } - (void)connectionDidFinishLoading:(NSURLConnection *)connection { // do something with the data // receivedData is declared as a method instance elsewhere NSLog(@"Succeeded! Received %d bytes of data",[receivedData length]); // release the connection, and the data object [connection release]; [receivedData release]; } I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS on didReceiveData. Even if that method simply contains an NSLog, I get the error. Note: receivedData is an NSMutableData* in my header file

  • setDelegate:self, how does it work?

    - by fuzzygoat
I have a query regarding how delegates work. My understanding was that delegates take responsibility for doing certain tasks on behalf of another object. locationManager = [[CLLocationManager alloc] init]; [locationManager setDelegate:self]; [locationManager setDistanceFilter:kCLDistanceFilterNone]; [locationManager setDesiredAccuracy:kCLLocationAccuracyBest]; [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]; Am I right in thinking that in the example code above that the instance of CLLocationManager is created on a new thread so that it can get on with trying to find the location information it needs. When it completes its task (or encounters an error) it calls-back using the appropriate methods located in self e.g. locationManager:didUpdateToLocation:fromLocation: Essentially locationManager sends messages to self (which conforms to the correct delegate protocol) when things happen cheers gary

  • NSURLConnection still calls delegate AFTER cancel method has been called

    - by Shizam
Hi All, Having a problem with NSURLConnection, if I create a NSURLConnection and call [connection connectionWithRequest] let it load a little then call [connection cancel] most of the time that works fine. However occasionally even after I call [connection cancel] the connection's delegate still gets called (which crashes the app). Googling around it looks like the problem here is a race condition in the runloop, I cancel the connection and release the delegate but before the runloop cycles it calls the delegate functions - crash. Is there a way for me to, after I call [connection cancel] confirm the connection has actually canceled? Even a crappy while() loop will do :(

  • Intercept back button on uinavigationcontroller?

    - by cannyboy
A form is pushed onto the view. The form has several required fields. Also the form needs to be validated. I want to intercept the back button's click to check if the fields have been filled in, and validate the form. How would I intercept the button's click, and make sure it doesn't pop to the previous screen?

  • Apple iPhone SDK Peer Picker

How can I modify the iphone SDK Apple sample code 'GKTank' to support multiple peers? Ideally 4. I know GKit has a peer limit of 4, which is fine. What changes would I need to make to the source file 'GKTANK', so I can learn the process and adapt it to my own current app. Thanks.

  • touchesBegin & touchesMove Xcode Obj C Question

    - by AndrewDK
So I have my app working good when you press and drag along. I also have UIButtons set to Touch Down in Interface Builder. As well when you drag you need to drag from the outside of the UIButton. You cannot click on the UIButton and drag to the other. TOUCHES MOVED: Code: -(void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [[event touchesForView:self.view] anyObject]; CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:touch.view]; if(CGRectContainsPoint(oneButton.frame, location)) { if (!oneButton.isHighlighted){ [self oneFunction]; [oneButton setHighlighted:YES]; } }else { [oneButton setHighlighted:NO]; } // if(CGRectContainsPoint(twoButton.frame, location)) { if (!twoButton.isHighlighted){ [self twoFunction]; [twoButton setHighlighted:YES]; } }else { [twoButton setHighlighted:NO]; } } TOUCHES BEGAN: Code: - (void) touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [[event touchesForView:self.view] anyObject]; CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:touch.view]; if(CGRectContainsPoint(oneButton.frame, location)) { [self oneFunction]; [oneButton setHighlighted:YES]; } if(CGRectContainsPoint(twoButton.frame, location)) { [self twoFunction]; [twoButton setHighlighted:YES]; } } I want to be able to click on any of the button fire the function & also be able to drag from one button on to the other and fire that function. So basically just being able to click on a button and slide your finger over and activate the other button without having to press and slide from outside of the button. I think I'm close, need a bit of help. Hope thats clear enough. Thanks.

  • Variable Scope Problem, iPhone

    - by Stumf
Hello all, I need some help here so I will do my best to explain. I have worked on this all day and had no success (just learning!) I have: NSArray *getValue(NSString *iosearch) { ................................. ................................... \\ More code here } - (NSString *) serialnumber { NSArray *results = getValue(@"serial-number"); if (results) return [results objectAtIndex:0]; return nil; } - (NSString *) backlightlevel { NSArray *results = getValue(@"backlight-level"); if (results) return [results objectAtIndex:0]; return nil; } I have a tableView set up and want to display my array in it so I then have: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {............. ......................................................... cell.text = [results objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; // error results undeclared here return cell; } The problem is I get results undeclared as indicated above. I also can't figure how I could get serialnumber and backlightlevel to display on the click of a button or even at load. My attempts have thrown back errors like error: 'serialnumber' undeclared (first use in this function) and warnings like warning: 'return' with a value, in function returning void. Sorry for the long question! Many thanks, Stuart
