  hi, we recenty had a programmer to develop a program for us but seems to have left us in the lurch with a part functioning application. my boss isnt happy at moment as we have spent a few hundred and have nothing to show for it at the moment. can anyone see any information in the crash log below as its gibberish to me.   Hi! I have people, companies, employees, events and event kinds. I'm making a report/followup sheet where people, companies and employees are the rows, and the columns are event kinds. Event kinds are simple values describing: "Promised Donation", "Received Donation", "Phoned", "Followed up" and such. Event kinds are ordered: CREATE TABLE event_kinds ( id, name, position); Events hold the actual reference to the event: CREATE TABLE events ( id, person_id, company_id, referrer_id, event_kind_id, created_at); referrer_id is another reference to people. It is the person which sent the information/tip along, and is an optional field, although I sometimes want to filter on an event_kind that has a specific referrer, while I don't for other event kinds. Notice I don't have an employee ID reference. The reference exists, but is implied. I have application code to validate that person_id and company_id really reference an employee record. The other tables are pretty basic: CREATE TABLE people ( id, name); CREATE TABLE companies ( id, name); CREATE TABLE employees ( id, person_id, company_id); I'm trying to achieve the following report: Referrer Phoned Promised Donated Francois Feb 16th Feb 20th Mar 1st Apple (Steve Jobs) Steve Ballmer Mar 3rd IBM Bill Gates Mar 7th The first row is a people record, the 2nd is an employee, and the 3rd is a company. If I asked for referrer Bill Gates for Phoned event kinds, I'd only see the 3rd row, while asking for Steve and Phoned would return no rows. Right now, I do 3 queries, one for companies, one for people and a last one for employees. I want the event kind columns to be ordered, but I do that in application code and show it properly there. There should be an "easier" way to do it. One other filter criteria would be to filter on people/company names: WHERE LOWER(companies.name) LIKE '%apple%'. Note that I'm ordering by the dates of event_kind_9 here, and a secondary sort is by person/company name. To summarize: I want to paginate the result set, find the latest event for each cell, order the result set by the date of the latest event, and by company/person name, filter by referrer in some event kinds, but not others. For reference, I'm using PostgreSQL, from Ruby, ActiveRecord/Rails. The solution is pure SQL though.

  Hi, I am trying to setup James mail server on a linux machine. The linux machine has public static ip address assigned. I installed James and added in the config.xml added the servername as mydomain.com. In the DNS for mydomain.com, I have created a A-record, say mx.mydomain.com, which corresponds to the ipaddress of the above mail server machine. Then added mx.mydomain.com as MX record for mydomain.com. In James, I have created a new user test. Then from gmail, I sent a mail to [email protected]. The mail is not received back and it didn't even bounce back. The linux machine is behind a firewall with only 22, 80, 8080 ports open for external network. My question here is, Do I require do open any other ports on the firewall so that the mail I send from gmail arrives to James? If it's not the port problem, any views on solving this issue? I don't want to send mails from this server. It's only for receiving the mails.

• Help with CSS - getting an element to fill 100% of the remaining vertical space

  Hi folks I'd consider myself a reasonable standard CSS/XHTML chap but I'm pretty baffled by this. The problem is available here: http://furnace.howcode.com - (note that the site is still in development, most stuff doesn't work, and it's likely to change fairly quickly as it is updated often). Basically I've got a fluid layout that needs to work in the same proportions on any resolution. Here's a screenshot of how the designer invisioned it (I apologise for my Paint-tool anotations): I want the tabs and the search box to STAY at the top of Col2, whilst there should be a scrollable area beneath it where the results are returned. I want NO vertical viewport scrolling, only within the 100%-height area thingy. My problem is this. If you take a look at http://furnace.howcode.com, you'll see that I've got a bit of a problem. I've made a placeholder black-background div which I will turn into the Tabs shortly. However I want the Col2 div to float BENEATH this and fill 100% of the remaining vertical height (i.e. go to the bottom of the screen, nomatter what the resolution is) and Col3 to be in the place where Col2 currently has been put (it normally is there automatically, when Col2 is in the right place!). • Need additional help with binding multiple CommandParameters using MultiBinding

  I need to have a command handler for a ToggleButton that can take multiple parameters, namely the IsChecked property of said ToggleButton, along with a constant value, which could be a string, byte, int... doesn't matter. I found this great question on SO and followed the answer's link and read up on MultiBinding and IMultiValueConverter. It went really smoothly until I had to write the MultiBinding, when I realized that I also need to pass a constant value and couldn't do something like <Binding Value="1" /> I then came across another similar question that Kent Boogaart answered, and then I started to think about ways that I could get around this. One possible way is to not use MVVM and simply add the Tag property to my ToggleButton, in which case my MultiBinding would look like this: <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource MyConverter}"> <MultiBinding.Bindings> <Binding Path="IsChecked" /> <Binding Path="Tag" /> </MultiBinding.Bindings> </MultiBinding> Kent had made a comment along the lines of, "if you're using MVVM you should be able to get around this issue". However, I'm not sure that's an option for me, even though I have adopted MVVM as my WPF pattern of necessity choice. The reason why I say this is that I have wayyyy more than one ToggleButton in the UserControl, and each of the ToggleButtons' Commands need to call the same function. But since they are ToggleButtons, I can't use the property bound to IsChecked in the ViewModel, because I don't know which one was last clicked. I suppose I could add another private property to keep track of this, but it seems a little silly. As far as the constant goes, I could probably get rid of this if I did the tracking idea, but not sure of any other way to get around it.   I'm trying to use a new class in SqlCe 3.5 SP2 called SqlCeChangeTracking. This class (allegedly) lets you turn on change tracking on a table, without using RDA replication or Sync Services. Assuming you have an open SqlCeConnection, you enable change tracking on a table like this: SqlCeChangeTracking tracker = new SqlCeChangeTracking(conn); tracker.EnableTracking(TableName, TrackingKeyType.PrimaryKey, TrackingOptions.All); This appears to work, sort of. When I open the SDF file and view it in SQL Server Management Studio, the table has three additional fields: __sysChangeTxBsn, __sysInsertTxBsn and __sysTrackingContext. According to the sparse documentation, these columns (along with the __sysOCSDeletedRows system table) are used to track changes. The problem is that these three columns always contain NULL values for all rows, no matter what I do. I can add, delete, edit etc. and those columns remain NULL no matter what (and no deleted records ever show up in __sysOCSDeletedRows). I have found virtually no documentation on this class at all, and the promised MSDN API appears non-existent. Anybody know how to use this class?

I would do this with a standard redirect, but I don't know how to make a site specific to WWW or non-WWW addresses. I see that Firefox thinks my site is clearly different at the WWW version, because it reloads it without using the cache. How can I make a non-WWW specific index.html page to redirect them to www.website.com?

After the initial headline is clicked and it expands, if you click to another headline it will collapse the former headline completely FIRST then it will expand the headline you clicked. • Eclipse Helios - Not Stopping at Breakpoints (Help!)

  Dear Eclipse Expert, I recently upgraded from Eclipse Galileo to Helios. Helios stops at breakpoints ONLY when debugging "as a PHP Script", but not when debugging "as a Web Page". When debugging as a web page, it looks like the correct debug query string to start a debug session is getting tacked on to the url, like so: http://localhost/hello.php?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=ECLIPSE_DBGP &KEY=129798139020511 but elipse does not stop at the breakpoints. It just zooms thru the code and displays the output in the browser.   I'm trying to host a WCF service with wsHttpBinding. I created a certificate using makecert and put some lines in web.config. This is the error that I'm getting: System.ArgumentException: The certificate 'CN=WCfServer' must have a private key that is capable of key exchange. The process must have access rights for the private key. On googling up it seems to be some issue with access rights on the certificate file. I used cacls to give read permission to NETWORK SERVICE and also my username but it didn't change anything. I also went to security settings in the properties of the certificate file and gave full control to NETWORK SERVICE and my username. Again to no avail. Can you guide me as to what the problem is and what exactly I need to do? I'm really flaky with these certificate things. I want to use L2E since it s very convenient to my company's apps, I created a demo project, the demo does run on every machine but when I, lets say, press a button that has some code that uses the entity I get this error: specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. note that I get this error only on machines that does not have VS2008 installed, on these machines (the ones with VS2008) the demo works well. any advice is appreciated. I am using MySql server with Mysql Conector 6.3 and the model is created with ADO.Net entitiy model.
