  • What's the Microsoft Ajax equivalent to jquery.ajaxSetup() or .ajaxError()?

    - by Seth Petry-Johnson
I have an ASP.NET MVC site that uses both Microsoft Ajax [Ajax.BeginForm()] and jQuery to make asynchronous requests. I want to configure both frameworks such that a generic error handler is automatically attached if the developer does not explicitly specify a failure callback. In jQuery I can accomplish this with either .ajaxSetup() or .ajaxError(). What is the equivalent in the Microsoft Ajax client library? I'm fairly sure it's something in the Sys object but I can't find it...

  • Horizontal scrolling in a wx.RichTextCtrl

    - by Sam
I have a RichTextCtrl created as follows: self.userlist = wx.richtext.RichTextCtrl(self, style=wx.TE_MULTILINE|wx.TE_READONLY|wx.HSCROLL) It all works fine, except for the wx.HSCROLL style. If I change the RichTextCtrl to a regular TextCtrl, it correctly horizontal scrolls on long lines, rather than wrapping, but on the RichTextCtrl it wraps regardless. Is there an easy way to make it scroll horizontally? (I do, unfortunately, need the RichTextCtrl's featureset for this object.)

  • Python - how to check if weak reference is still available

    - by Alex
Hi all, I am passing some weakrefs from Python into C++ class, but C++ destructors are actively trying to access the ref when the real object is already dead, obviously it crashes... Is there any Python C/API approach to find out if Python reference is still alive or any other known workaround for this ? Thanks

  • WPF DataContext syntax - Convert from C# to VB

    - by hawbsl
Currently working through a Teach Yourself WPF tutorial. Usually I can mentally convert from C# to VB without any problem but this C# syntax is unfamiliar. How is it written in VB? Private void Button_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { ((Person)DataContext).FirstName = "blah blah" } My usual fave online converters are choking on this ... perhaps because they don't do WPF?

  • Finding web source of Drag&Drop with Qt

    - by UncaughtException
I'm trying to implement a simple notebook in Qt. Microsoft OneNote allows text or an image from a website to be inserted by Drag&Drop with an attached link to the source that looks like this for the stackoverflow logo on the 'ask' page: Inserted from <http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask. With the QT dropsite example, I examined all the information thats transported by the QMimeData object, but didn't find something really helpful. Do you know a way to do this in pure Qt or at least with not so much platform-dependant code?

  • Use the serialVersionUID or suppress warnings?

    - by Okami
Dear all, first thing to note is the serialVersionUID of a class implementing Interface Serializable is not in question. What if we create a class that for example extends HttpServlet? It also should have a serialVersionUID. If someone knows that this object will never be serialized should he define it or add an annotation to suppress those warnings? What would you do and why? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Okami

  • Which style of return is "better" for a method that might return None?

    - by Daenyth
I have a method that will either return an object or None if the lookup fails. Which style of the following is better? def get_foo(needle): haystack = object_dict() if needle not in haystack: return None return haystack[needle] or, def get_foo(needle): haystack = object_dict() try: return haystack[needle] except KeyError: # Needle not found return None I'm undecided as to which is more more desirable myself. Another choice would be return haystack[needle] if needle in haystack else None, but I'm not sure that's any better.

  • Decorator Design Pattern - Not Possible

    - by Lennie
Hi, This is more a design question... You can't do a decorate design pattern if: 1) The object is marked "sealed" meaning you can't extend from it. 2) or you want to override a method but its not virtual. What can you do then? Taken that you can't change the class source code if you don't have the source code (like a 3rd party library).

  • Having an issue while trying to implement In-App Purchase

    - by Raymond
    This is my first time to implement In-App purchase and I am using the tutorial located here: Ray Wenderlich Now I am sure this is something simple, but I am having issues figuring out, so I figured I would ask all of the gurus out here. The compiler is saying that _products is Use of undeclared identifier - (void)productPurchased:(NSNotification *)notification { NSString * productIdentifier = notification.object; [_products enumerateObjectsUsingBlock:^(SKProduct * product, NSUInteger idx, BOOL *stop) { if ([product.productIdentifier isEqualToString:productIdentifier]) { *stop = YES; } }]; }

  • How do I set a property in python using its string name

    - by dave
Hey, here's a dumb question: how can I set an object property given its name in a string. I have a dictionary being passed to me and I wish to transfer its values into namesake properties using code like this: for entry in src_dict: if entry.startswith('can_'): tgt_obj[entry] = src_dict_profile[entry] I'm still a bit of a noob with Python so would appreciate some help. - dave.
