I got a programm in haskell outputting utf-8 using the package utf8-string and using only the output functions of this package.
I set the encoding of each file I write to this way :
hSetEncoding myFile utf8
{- myFile may be stdout -}
but when I try to output :
alpha = [fromEnum 0x03B1] {- a -}
instead of the nice alpha letter I got on Linux (or in a file on windows), I got the following :
α
The weird thing is even if I try to write the output on a file, I can't read it back with mvim as an utf-8 file. Is there any way to get the correct behaviour
Is there some way to access the value of a msbuild property from a custom task? I know I can send them all in, but it would be nice not to :) Trying to do this from a tfs build.
Or is there som way to access the "build script" currently running? Maybe like an object model and from there get what I need?
I dont know what it is called but you can see on this page http://carleypelletier.deviantart.com/gallery/#_browse if you click on a category you'll get a list and if there is a subcategory there will be a at the end. When clicking this the menu text moves left off the menu and the new categories are in. How do i do this type of menu? i'm open to any libs. It would be nice if i can fill it using json or a config file.
Does anyone happen to have some sort of a nice command line script they use that could do something like:
Clean VS project (delete \bin folder contents, etc)
Backup SQL Server database
Zip all files up
What is the minimum set of primitives required such that a language is Turing complete and a lisp variant?
Seems like car, cdr and some flow control and something for REPL is enough. It be nice if there is such list.
Assume there are only 3 types of data, integers, symbols and lists.(like in picolisp)
hi,
Can anybody explain me the most interesting feature of C language apart from other languages.
Am expecting some nice replies , so that every one can brush up their own programming skills
i can tell you specifically structure and class.

Hello,
I have been working with java and python, so I found a nice web host which has support for these.
But my question is, why can you find so hard such hosts?
I understand that php is easy, I also understand that oracle host is hard to find ($$$ of course), but what do they have against some good open-source, completely free java spring, jsp, django, python, ror, perl etc etc ....
So rare to find hosts ... not to mention freelancer bids
Thank you.
I am doing some input/output between a c++ and a python program (only floating point values) python has a nice feature of converting floating point values to hex-numbers and back as you can see in this link:
http://docs.python.org/library/stdtypes.html#additional-methods-on-float
Is there an easy way in C++ to to something similar? and convert the python output back to C++ double/float? This way I would not have the problem of rounding errors when exchanging data between the two processes...
thx for the answers!
Currently I monitoring a particular file with a simple shell one-liner:
filesize=$(ls -lah somefile | awk '{print $5}')
I'm aware that Perl has some nice modules to deal with Excel files so the idea is to, let's say, run that check daily, perhaps with cron, and write the result on a spreadsheet for further statistical use.
I'm looking for a nice tutorial or framework for developing Python written web applications.
I've done lots in PHP, but very little in Python or Ruby and figured I'd start with the first one alphabetically.
How to do it? Any sample code would be nice ... I have tried directly using the graph api but it needs access_token and I don't know how to get it ... I am using Facebook developer toolkit
I'd like to use the libcurl library to open a remote date file and iterate through it with an istream. I've looked through the nice example in this thread but it writes the remote file to a local file. Instead I'd like to have the remote reads be pushed to an istream for subsequent programmatic manipulation. Is this possible? I would greatly appreciate help.
Best,
Aaron
Hey,
I want to use a method of an object.
Like $myObject->helloWorld().
However there are a couple of methods so I loop through an array of method names and call the method like this:
my $methodName ="helloWorld";
$myObject->$methodNames;
This works quite nice but some objects don't have all methods.
How can I tell wether $myObject has a method called helloWorld or not?
I've got an idea for a nice WPF designer extension, but I can't find any information on how to interact with the WPF designer via an extension. Lots of info about the text editor, but none about the WPF designer.
Looking for any kind of info/links on the subject, thanks.
I use MySQL and it gives no meaningful error messages beyond "syntax wrong close to something or other". This is in sharp contrast to the sort of nice, clear error messages we are used to getting from java compiler and similar. So, are there RDBMS or sql validation tools that provide clearer, meaningful error messages?
how can i create a checksum of only the media data without the tags to get a stable identification for a media file. preferably an cross platform approach with a library that has support for many formats. e.g. vlc, ffmpeg or mplayer.
(media files should be audio and video in common formats, images would be nice to have too)
I want to give the user a web-page where he can type some simple SQL.
select * from myTable.
What I would like is to have the autocompletion area to help typing:
sel
[selECT]
select * f
[select * fROM]
select * from
[select * fROM column1]
[select * fROM column2]
...
Anybody can suggest if there is a nice open source library for this ?
I am not really interested in the SQL (I will have to parse a DSL)
I am more interested on a powerful autocompletion text area widget.
Is it possible to disable the in-browser, full-page zoom in Firefox (activated by Ctrl +) for a webpage? How about for certain elements in a webpage? I just notice that sometimes elements look really weird when they are zoomed, and it might be nice to just disable the zooming completely for those elements.
Note: I know there a few ways to find the zoom level, but this is really wanting to actively work around it (which might not be a good idea anyway).
In Eclipse is it possible to create automatically Getters and Setters for a field. But I have a lot of private fields for which only getters should exist. Is somewhere in Eclipse a "create Getters" Function which does not create setters too?
Well, it is not so much work to write getters, but doing it automatically would be nice :)
Thank you,

Hi,
my custom 404.php page is located in /includes/404.php.
My current .htaccess file does the following redirect:
ErrorDocument 404 http://imgpls.localhost/includes/404.php
So the url looks like: mysite.com/includes/404.php .
Basically I need a double redirect: 1) 404 eror page to mysite.com/404.php (so the url looks nice) 2) mysite.com/404.php to mysite.com/includes/404.php where the file actually is.
How can I achieve that? Thanks in advance.
I use AVAudioPlayer to play an mp3 file to a user within my iPhone app. This all works fine and dandy. I even update a PLAY/PAUSED button depending on the state of the player. But it would be nice to know how much longer the song will play.
So How do I show the time remaining?
So I am looking for a nice list of NHibernate events that actually describes when they are fired, in a typical scenario. IE something like
PreUpdateEventListener - Fires when an
object that is already persistent is
changing
I currently just rifle through the source and try to figure it out, but it's kinda painful, and I figure that someone must have done this already at some point.
