• Can radius interact with pptp beyond authentication?

  I've managed to setup pptp to use Radius authentication - making it much easier to manage users in an sql database than the default password file. However, ideally I'd like to be able to get the status of these users and disconnect/manage them as Radius allows - is this possible? If so, could you elaborate and point me in the right direction? All help is much appreciated! Edit I am personally using Debian and the standard aptitude packages for pptp and FreeRADIUS.

  Hi, I'm trying to get my wifi working through the command line, but I'm not having success. I generated the wpa_supplicant.conf with wpa_passphrase and I'm running wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iwlan0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf. I only receive as a clue "Disconnect event - remove keys" and I get associated. What can I do?

  The installer is not working for my ATI mobility Radeon HD 3670 on Dell XPS Studio 16 using Windows 8 PRO 64 bits.   Okay so about a few weeks after I got my laptop the wifi would connect and disconnect, off and on. And every time I troubleshoot it, a message comes up saying there's a network cable not properly plugged in or broken... It's been doing this for about a year and I usually just tap the bottom of the laptop or something and the wifi connects again but now it refuses to turn back on, how do I fix this?

• Access Router after logging into VPN

  I access my linksys router through its webserver (192.168.1.1 into a web browser), but can no longer access it once I log into my work vpn. Is there a way I can still get at my router and change the settings? Or do I first have to disconnect from the VPN first? Thanks, Dan

• Can't transfer images from a camera connected to usb2 port on a pcmcia adapter

  I have an old laptop (HP OmniBook vt6200, WinXp pro, sp2) that only has usb1 ports. Transferring pictures from a digital camera is too slow, so I thought of trying one of those pccards carrying usb2 ports (D-Link Dub C2 in my case). Connecting the camera to one of the ports on the pccard, Picasa seems to freeze trying to read the camera contents, until I either disconnect the camera or the pccard. Any idea on what's wrong?

• Macbook Air trackpad not clicking nor moving cursor, but multi-finger gestures are working

  This has been happening to me several times recently just after I disconnect my MBA from a USB hub (for an external keyboard and mouse). The internal trackpad just won't move the cursor, not does it generate clicks. However, strangely enough, multi-finger gestures are still working, e.g. scrolling with two fingers. Only after a system restart does the trackpad return to normal (until the next time..)

• Powershell mapped network drive doesn't persist

  I'm trying to create a script that maps a network drive whenever I connect to a VPN, then disconnects the drive when I disconnect from the VPN, using Task Scheduler to launch the script when the event is created. It launches the script, which creates the drive, but when Powershell closes, it disconnects the drive, so it only stays open for a few seconds, then closes it again.   I am setting up a mail server: Dovecot and Postfix with MySQL support and Postfixadmin. Spend literally all day trying to figure it out, but I'm still unable to neither send nor receive any emails. To my knowledge, I have configured everything correctly, so either there is another problem, or my knowledge isn't good enough. • Windows XP machine not seeing external FAT32 partitions correctly

  About 8 months ago my Windows XP machine stopped being able to see FAT32 external drives when I plug them in... mostly. I will explain... It happens with all my FAT32 drives, whether they be unpowered external hard drives, powered external hard drives, SDHC cards plugged directly into the machine's card reader, or SDHC cards plugged in via a separate USB card reader. All of these drives/cards used to work fine on this machine. They all stopped working at about the same time. NTFS volumes are not affected. If I plug in NTFS external drives they are recognized right away. I even have one external drive with two partitions on it, one is NTFS which is recognized, the other is FAT32, which is not recognized. If I attach a FAT32 drive, then reboot, then the drive almost always becomes visible to the machine after the reboot. Sometimes I can plug in a FAT32 drive and it works right away. Not often though. I'd say I get lucky more often with SDHC cards than hard drives. I'm developing a theory that I only get lucky with hard drives if I'm running Acronis Disk Director when I plug them in, though that usually doesn't work either - I need more data here, this may be a red herring. Getting lucky with a hard drive is really rare, usually I have to reboot. When a FAT32 is recognized, either because I got lucky or because I rebooted, I can almost never safely disconnect it. It tells me "The device 'Generic volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later". I can't seem to get around this. IIRC, I've tried closing every open window, and still no luck. Since I care about my data usually the only way to disconnect a FAT32 drive is to shut down the machine. As you can imagine, two reboots just to read a drive is getting pretty old... When the machine fails to see a FAT32 drive it usually comes up with the appropriate drive letter and the words "Local Disk" in Windows Explorer instead of the correct partition name. If I click on it I get "J:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect." Before this problem arose I always clicked the "safely remove" button for everything, including SDHC cards where I think it's not necessary. I've known for a long time that this is the correct procedure for hard drives, so I don't think failing to do this was the cause of this problem (before someone asks :) Any answers or suggestions most welcome.

  I just got an Asus G60 laptop, and will be installing an SSD as the primary, and will use the existing HDD as a storage drive. Is there a utility that I can use to turn off/disconnect the storage drive when I'm not using it? Mainly, I want to be able to conserve power when I'm mobile, since the battery life of this laptop is pretty weak. Thanks in advance!

Is there anything I can do which will enable me to remain connected to the VPN but bypass it for Spotify? I use the Cisco VPN client.

• Have Ubuntu auto-connect to wireless AP without logging in

  We have an ubuntu box set up to do some monitoring but due to the placement are unable to run CAT5 to the box itself. I have an Atheros PCI card that works great as long as someone is logged into Gnome and it doesn't disconnect from the AP during that time. Is there a way to have Ubuntu connect to the AP during boot, and always reconnect if it finds a signal from a specified AP? The box would have a static IP and only connecting to a specific AP using WEP.
