  • Grails Date Property Editor

    - by Jan
    Hey folks, i'm using the jQuery UI datepicker instead of the <g:datePicker>, which is changing the selected date in a textbox. Now I want to save this neatly back into my database, and came across custom property editors. click me hard to see the topic on StackOverflow However, adding this custom PropertyEditor didn't change anything, dates are still displayed like '2010-01-01 00:00:00.0' and if I try to save a date it crashes with Cannot cast object '05.05.2010' with class 'java.lang.String' to class 'java.util.Date'. Is there any additional magic needed, like a special naming of the textbox or something like that? Thanks for your help, Jan

  • Eager fetching of children with JDO (Datanucleus)

    - by Jan
    Hi, can JDO fetch all children of a database model at once? Like: class Parent { @Persistent(mappedBy="parent") private Set<Children> children; } class Children { @Persistent private Parent parent; @Persistent private String name; } In my case, I have a large number of Parents which I fetch at once. Accessing their children then takes a lot of time because they are fetched lazily. Does JDO (Datanucleus) support their fetching at once, togehter with the Parents? I also tried to fetch all Children independantly with another quey and put them into the Level2 cache afterwards, but still they are fetched (maybe jdo doesn't know about their relationship? Because the ForeignKey (parent-id) hasn't been fetched at first?) Any ideas how to read the data structure faster? Cheers, Jan

  • HTML: Display:none does this allow multiple ID-Attributes with same name (when "hidden")?

    - by Jan
    Hello, according to the HTML Standards ID-Attributes of any HTML Tag in a webpage have to be unique in the document!? Does this rule also apply to HTML Tags that have been "disabled/hidden" by using: display:none? Example: <html> <body> <div id="one"></div> <div id="one" style="display:none;"></div> </body> </hmtl> Is this valid HTML or not. So the question is do "display:none"= hidden Elements also "count/matter" in regard to the rule only having unique ID-Attributes in a single webpage? Thanks Jan

  • In an Android test, how to check that a View is shown?

    - by Jan Zankowski
    Hello, I'm writing a UI test case (using ActivityUnitTestCase) and would like to check if at a given time a View subclass is visible to the user. I've found the View#isShown() method, which claims to do exactly this - checking the visibility field of this element and all its parents - but somehow it always returns "false" for all the elements. I'll be grateful for some help. If it makes it easier, I can paste some code. Also, I found ViewAsserts#assertOnScreen(View origin, View view) but it doesn't seem to do the right thing either - always returns true. Am I perhaps calling it wrong: assertOnScreen(viewImTesting.getRootView(), viewImTesting)? Thanks, Jan

  • Venezuela's Highly Inflationary Economy Means Changes to Financial Statements

    - by Theresa Hickman
    This is a bit of an esoteric topic, but given the number of U.S. Companies (particularly oil companies) that operate and have subsidiaries in Venezuela, I think it is worthy of an honorable mention. As you may or may not know, Venezuela's currency has had some changes over the years. In 2008, the Venezuelan Bolivar became the Bolivar Fuerte which dropped three zeros. So Bs.10,000 became Bs.F.10 and all their bills and coins were changed to reflect this. Then on Jan. 8, 2010, the government devalued the currency by 100%. The conversion from VEF to USD dropped from 2.15 to 4.30. (I always wanted to visit Venezuela; I guess it's time to book my vacation). The SEC recently labeled Venezuela a highly inflationary economy. This means that US companies with investments/subsidiaries in Venezuela will need to apply highly inflationary accounting rules starting on Jan. 1, 2010. In addition, companies need to make more detailed disclosures when the Venezuelan reported balances differ from the actual US dollar denominated balances. In a nut shell, if you formerly used translation, then starting Jan 1 of this year, you must now use remeasurement (or temporal method) to restate your Venezuelan entity's financial statements. See ASC topic 830, Foreign Currency Matters, which states that "[t]he financial statements of a foreign entity in a highly inflationary economy shall be remeasured as if the functional currency were the reporting currency." For you non-accountants that I haven't bored and are still reading at this point, the reason why the SEC is doing this is to ensure financial statements are presented as accurately as possible. Hyperinflationary economies have volatile currencies, such as Venezuela (it's not every day a currency devalues 100% overnight) which can distort financial statements if the local currency (Venezuelan Bolivar Fuerte) is used as the functional currency. To make financial statements more accurate, the reporting currency of the U.S. parent (US dollars) should be used as the functional currency. FASB.orgactually has a nice write-up on this.

  • GWT: reporting crawling errors for non existing links

    - by pixeline
    Google Webmaster Tools is reporting crawl errors for links that never existed, and if i check the "Linked from" tab for a given error link, it shows another that never existed. They all mention joomla/ which is not the cms used on this domain (it's wordpress fyi). • Making ofHideReadOnly work with UseLatestCommonDialogs

    - by Jan Goyvaerts
    In Delphi 2007 and later, the global variable UseLatestCommonDialogs causes TOpenDialog to use the new Vista-style dialog on Windows Vista and 7. That's cool. Unfortunately, the Vista-style dialog does not seem to support the ofHideReadOnly option of TOpenDialog. The read-only checkbox never appears regardless whether this option is set to True or False. How can I make TOpenDialog show a read-only checkbox on the Vista-style dialog? TOpenTextFileDialog adds a combo box to the dialog regardless of whether it's Vista-style or not. It should be possible to add a read-only checkbox in the same way, but I can't figure out how to do it, even when looking at the source for TOpenTextFileDialog.

  • Generate a list of file names based on month and year arithmetic

    - by MacUsers
    How can I list the numbers 01 to 12 (one for each of the 12 months) in such a way so that the current month always comes last where the oldest one is first. In other words, if the number is grater than the current month, it's from the previous year. e.g. 02 is Feb, 2011 (the current month right now), 03 is March, 2010 and 09 is Sep, 2010 but 01 is Jan, 2011. In this case, I'd like to have [09, 03, 01, 02]. This is what I'm doing to determine the year: for inFile in os.listdir('.'): if inFile.isdigit(): month = months[int(inFile)] if int(inFile) <= int(strftime("%m")): year = strftime("%Y") else: year = int(strftime("%Y"))-1 mnYear = month + ", " + str(year) I don't have a clue what to do next. What should I do here? Update: I think, I better upload the entire script for better understanding. #!/usr/bin/env python import os, sys from time import strftime from calendar import month_abbr vGroup = {} vo = "group_lhcb" SI00_fig = float(2.478) months = tuple(month_abbr) print "\n%-12s\t%10s\t%8s\t%10s" % ('VOs','CPU-time','CPU-time','kSI2K-hrs') print "%-12s\t%10s\t%8s\t%10s" % ('','(in Sec)','(in Hrs)','(*2.478)') print "=" * 58 for inFile in os.listdir('.'): if inFile.isdigit(): readFile = open(inFile, 'r') lines = readFile.readlines() readFile.close() month = months[int(inFile)] if int(inFile) <= int(strftime("%m")): year = strftime("%Y") else: year = int(strftime("%Y"))-1 mnYear = month + ", " + str(year) for line in lines[2:]: if line.find(vo)==0: g, i = line.split() s = vGroup.get(g, 0) vGroup[g] = s + int(i) sumHrs = ((vGroup[g]/60)/60) sumSi2k = sumHrs*SI00_fig print "%-12s\t%10s\t%8s\t%10.2f" % (mnYear,vGroup[g],sumHrs,sumSi2k) del vGroup[g] When I run the script, I get this: [root@serv07 usage]# ./test.py VOs CPU-time CPU-time kSI2K-hrs (in Sec) (in Hrs) (*2.478) ================================================== Jan, 2011 211201372 58667 145376.83 Dec, 2010 5064337 1406 3484.07 Feb, 2011 17506049 4862 12048.04 Sep, 2010 210874275 58576 145151.33 As I said in the original post, I like the result to be in this order instead: Sep, 2010 210874275 58576 145151.33 Dec, 2010 5064337 1406 3484.07 Jan, 2011 211201372 58667 145376.83 Feb, 2011 17506049 4862 12048.04 The files in the source directory reads like this: [root@serv07 usage]# ls -l total 3632 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1144972 Feb 9 19:23 01 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 556630 Feb 13 09:11 02 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 443782 Feb 11 17:23 02.bak -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1144556 Feb 14 09:30 09 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 370822 Feb 9 19:24 12 Did I give a better picture now?   • Permission Mystery - apt-get and other system utilities have 000 permissions

    - by emteh
    I'm trying to track down this strange behavoir for years now. Always after installing software-updates the permissions of a lot of system-tools are broken as you can see below. I am reasonable convinced that the machine is not owned by someone else. Regular security updates + grsecurity kernel + pax + daily rkhunter runs. Besides that there is no incentive for an attacker to fiddle in such obvious ways with the system. I installed bastille linux (http://bastille-linux.sourceforge.net/) und tried to deinstall it later, so the problems could be related to that. However I don't see how this can happen in a regular way after updates. System: Ubuntu 10.04, recently updated to Ubuntu 12.04 but the problem persists. Apt-Configuration in /etc/apt/ looks sane to me. But nevertheless - could here be the source of the trouble? DPkg::Pre-Install-Pkgs {"/usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure --apt || true";}; DPkg::Post-Invoke { "if [ -x /usr/bin/debsums ]; then /usr/bin/debsums -- generate=nocheck -sp /var/cache/apt/archives; fi"; }; // Makes sure that rkhunter file properties database is updated // after each remove or install only APT_AUTOGEN is enabled DPkg::Post-Invoke { "if [ -x /usr/bin/rkhunter ] && grep -qiE '^APT_AUTOGEN=.? (true|yes)' /etc/default/rkhunter; then /usr/share/rkhunter/scripts/rkhupd.sh; fi" } DPkg::Post-Invoke {"if [ -d /var/lib/update-notifier ]; then touch /var/lib/update- notifier/dpkg-run-stamp; fi; if [ -e /var/lib/update-notifier/updates-available ]; then echo > /var/lib/update-notifier/updates-available; fi "; }; Where do these chmod 000 come from? I'm feeling really uneasy with this problem. root@besen:~# find /usr/bin/ -perm 0 -ls 14721496 196 ---------- 1 root root 192592 Oct 15 11:58 /usr/bin/apt-get 14721144 68 ---------- 1 root root 63848 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/bin/gpasswd root@besen:~# find /usr/sbin/ -perm 0 -ls 1727732 92 ---------- 1 root root 86984 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/usermod 1727727 64 ---------- 1 root root 57640 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/userdel 1727719 64 ---------- 1 root root 57680 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/newusers 1727718 40 ---------- 1 root root 38632 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/grpunconv 1727728 48 ---------- 1 root root 47088 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/groupadd 1727724 32 ---------- 1 root root 29584 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/pwunconv 19031620 84 ---------- 1 root root 81880 Jan 3 2012 /usr/sbin/edquota 14877113 48 ---------- 1 root root 46880 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/grpck 1727722 40 ---------- 1 root root 38632 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/pwck 1727730 96 ---------- 1 root root 91464 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/useradd 19031619 16 ---------- 1 root root 14600 Jan 3 2012 /usr/sbin/quotastats 1727720 44 ---------- 1 root root 42760 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/groupdel 1727733 36 ---------- 1 root root 34504 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/pwconv 19031621 80 ---------- 1 root root 77632 Jan 3 2012 /usr/sbin/rpc.rquotad 19030041 76 ---------- 1 root root 73600 Jan 3 2012 /usr/sbin/repquota 1727731 40 ---------- 1 root root 38624 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/grpconv 1727725 56 ---------- 1 root root 49472 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/vipw 1727723 64 ---------- 1 root root 57672 Sep 13 00:29 /usr/sbin/groupmod root@besen:~# find /sbin/ -perm 0 -ls 16760927 76 ---------- 1 root root 73464 Jan 3 2012 /sbin/quotaon Any tipps?   • Add file using SharpSVN

    - by jan
    Hi, I would like to add all unversioned files under a directory to SVN using SharpSVN. I tried regular svn commands on the command line first: C:\temp\CheckoutDir> svn status -v I see all subdirs, all the files that are already checked in, a few new files labeled "?", nothing with the "L" lock indication C:\temp\CheckoutDir> svn add . --force This results in all new files in the subdirs ,that are already under version control themselves, to be added. I'd like to do the same using SharpSVN. I copy a few extra files into the same directory and run this code: ... using ( SharpSvn.SvnClient svn = new SvnClient() ) { SvnAddArgs saa = new SvnAddArgs(); saa.Force = true; saa.Depth = SvnDepth.Infinity; try { svn.Add(@"C:\temp\CheckoutDir\." , saa); } catch (SvnException exc) { Log(@"SVN Exception: " + exc.Message + " - " + exc.File); } } But an SvnException is raised: SvnException.Message: Working copy 'C:\temp\CheckoutDir' locked SvnException.File: ..\..\..\subversion\libsvn_wc\lock.c" No other svnclient instance is running in my code, I also tried calling svn.cleanup() right before the Add, but to no avail. Since the documentation is rather vague ;), I was wondering if anyone here knew the answer. Thanks in advance! Jan

  • question regarding templatization of virtual function

    - by jan
    Hi, I am new to this forum and sorry If I am repeating this question. I know that you cannot templatize the virtual function and I do understand the concept behind it. But I still need a way to get across some errors I am getting it. I am able to make my stuff work but it doesn't look to me. Here's the deal, I have class called System, #include "Vector.h" class System { virtual void VectorToLocal(Vector<T>& global_dir,const Vector<T>* global_pos = 0) const = 0; }; class UnresolvedSystem : public System { virtual void VectorToLocal(Vector<T>& global_dir,const Vector<T>* global_pos = 0) const { //do something } }; In Vector.h tenplate<typename T> class Vector { //some functions }; See now I want to templatize VectorToLocal in system.h to take just Vector, but I cannot do it as it is a virtual function. I want a work around. I know I can have VectorToLocal take Vector, Vector etc as arguments. But I do not want to do it. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jan

    Hi, I would like to create a simple flow chart in latex with the TikZ package similar to the following example http://www.texample.net/tikz/examples/simple-flow-chart/ However I would like to include figures (a time series plot created in R, as eps or something else) within the flowchart (e.g. for example within a {block}? \documentclass{article} \usepackage[latin1]{inputenc} \usepackage{tikz} \usetikzlibrary{shapes,arrows} \begin{document} \pagestyle{empty} % Define block styles \tikzstyle{decision} = [diamond, draw, fill=blue!20, text width=4.5em, text badly centered, node distance=3cm, inner sep=0pt] \tikzstyle{block} = [rectangle, draw, fill=blue!20, text width=5em, text centered, rounded corners, minimum height=4em] \tikzstyle{line} = [draw, -latex'] \tikzstyle{cloud} = [draw, ellipse,fill=red!20, node distance=3cm, minimum height=2em] \begin{tikzpicture}[node distance = 2cm, auto] % Place nodes \node [block] (init) {initialize model}; \node [cloud, left of=init] (expert) {expert}; \node [cloud, right of=init] (system) {system}; \node [block, below of=init] (identify) {identify candidate models}; \node [block, below of=identify] (evaluate) {evaluate candidate models}; \node [block, left of=evaluate, node distance=3cm] (update) {update model}; \node [decision, below of=evaluate] (decide) {is best candidate better?}; \node [block, below of=decide, node distance=3cm] (stop) {stop}; % Draw edges \path [line] (init) -- (identify); \path [line] (identify) -- (evaluate); \path [line] (evaluate) -- (decide); \path [line] (decide) -| node [near start] {yes} (update); \path [line] (update) |- (identify); \path [line] (decide) -- node {no}(stop); \path [line,dashed] (expert) -- (init); \path [line,dashed] (system) -- (init); \path [line,dashed] (system) |- (evaluate); \end{tikzpicture} \end{document} Thanks, Jan

  • NTLM Authentication fails when behind Proxy server

    - by Jan Petersen
    Hi All, I've seen a number of post about consuming Web Services from behind a proxy server, but none that seams to address this problem. I'm building a desktop application, using Java, JAX-WS in NetBeans. I have a working prototype, that can query the server for authentication mode, successfully authenticate and retrieve a list of web site. However, if I run the same app from a network that is behind a proxy server (the proxy does not require authentication), then I'm running into trouble. I have sniffed the traffic, and noticed the following: Behind Proxy # Result Protocol Host URL 1 200 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Authentication.asmx 2 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 3 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 4 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 5 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx Without Proxy # Result Protocol Host URL 1 200 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Authentication.asmx 2 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 3 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 4 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 5 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 6 200 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx When running the code from a network without a proxy server, I successfully Authentication with the server, but when I'm behind the proxy server, the traffic is cut-off at the 5th message, and thus don't succeed. I know from the Java docs that On Microsoft Windows platforms, NTLM authentication attempts to acquire the user credentials from the system without prompting the user's authenticator object. If these credentials are not accepted by the server then the user's authenticator will be called. Given that my Authentication code is called only ones, and only as the 5th attempt, it appears as if the connection is dropped when behind the proxy server before my Authentication object is used. Is there any way I can control the behavior of Authentication module, to not have it use the system credentials? I have put the source text java class files of a demo app up, showing the issue at the following urls (it's a bit to long even in the short demo form to post here). link text Br Jan

  • is mysql index useful on column 'state' when only doing bit-operations on the column?

    - by Geert-Jan
    I have a lot of domain entities (stored in mysql) which undergo lots of different operations. Each operation is executed from a different program. I need to keep (flow)-state for these entities which I implemented in as a long field 'flowstate' used as a bitset. to query mysql for entities which have undergone a certain operation I do something like: select * from entities where state >> 7 & 1 = 1 Indicating bit 7 (cooresponding to operation 7) has run. (<-- simplified) Anyway, I really didn't pay attention to the performance implications of this setup in the beginning, and I think I'm in a bit of trouble since queries as the above run pretty slow. What I'd like to know: Does an mysql index on 'flowstate' help at all? After all it's not a single value Mysql can quickly find using a binary sort or whatever. If it doesn't, are there any other things I could do to speed things up? . Are there special 'mask-indices' for fields with use-cases as the above? TIA, Geert-jan

  • Java/XML: Good "Stream-based" Alternative to JAXB?

    - by Jan
    Hello Experts, JAXB makes working with XML so much easier, but I have currently a big problem, that the documents I have to process are too large for an in memory unmarshalling that JAXB does. The data can be up to 4GB per document. The datastructure I will have to process is very simple and flat: With a root element and millions of “elements”… <root> <element> foo </element> <element> foo </element> </root> May questions are: Does JAXB maybe somehow support unmarshalling in a “streambased” way, that does not require to build the whole objecttree in memory but rather gives me some kind of “Iterator” to the elements, element by element? (Maybe I just missed that somehow…) If not what are your proposals for an good alternative with a a. “flat learningcurve, ideally very similar to JAXB b. AND VERY IMPORTANT: Ideally with the possibility / tool for the generation of the unarshaller code from an XSD file OR annotated Java Class 3.(I have searched SO and those to library that ended up on my “watchlist” (without comparing them closer) were Apache XML Beans and Xstream… What other libraries are maybe even better for the purpose and what are the disadvantages, adavangaes… Thank you very much!!! • multi-core processing in R on windows XP - via doMC and foreach

    - by Jan
    Hi guys, I'm posting this question to ask for advice on how to optimize the use of multiple processors from R on a Windows XP machine. At the moment I'm creating 4 scripts (each script with e.g. for (i in 1:100) and (i in 101:200), etc) which I run in 4 different R sessions at the same time. This seems to use all the available cpu. I however would like to do this a bit more efficient. One solution could be to use the "doMC" and the "foreach" package but this is not possible in R on a Windows machine. e.g. library("foreach") library("strucchange") library("doMC") # would this be possible on a windows machine? registerDoMC(2) # for a computer with two cores (processors) ## Nile data with one breakpoint: the annual flows drop in 1898 ## because the first Ashwan dam was built data("Nile") plot(Nile) ## F statistics indicate one breakpoint fs.nile <- Fstats(Nile ~ 1) plot(fs.nile) breakpoints(fs.nile) # , hpc = "foreach" --> It would be great to test this. lines(breakpoints(fs.nile)) Any solutions or advice? Thanks, Jan

  • How to manually add a legend to a ggplot object

Thanks in advance!

  • Comparing two date ranges within the same table

    - by Danny Herran
    I have a table with sales per store as follows: SQL> select * from sales; ID ID_STORE DATE TOTAL ---------- -------- ---------- -------------------------------------------------- 1 1 2010-01-01 500.00 2 1 2010-01-02 185.00 3 1 2010-01-03 135.00 4 1 2009-01-01 165.00 5 1 2009-01-02 175.00 6 5 2010-01-01 130.00 7 5 2010-01-02 135.00 8 5 2010-01-03 130.00 9 6 2010-01-01 100.00 10 6 2010-01-02 12.00 11 6 2010-01-03 85.00 12 6 2009-01-01 135.00 13 6 2009-01-02 400.00 14 6 2009-01-07 21.00 15 6 2009-01-08 45.00 16 8 2009-01-09 123.00 17 8 2009-01-10 581.00 17 rows selected. What I need to do is to compare two date ranges within that table. Lets say I need to know the differences in sales between 01 Jan 2009 to 10 Jan 2009 AGAINST 01 Jan 2010 to 10 Jan 2010. I'd like to build a query that returns something like this: ID_STORE_A DATE_A TOTAL_A ID_STORE_B DATE_B TOTAL_B ---------- ---------- --------- ---------- ---------- ------------------- 1 2010-01-01 500.00 1 2009-01-01 165.00 1 2010-01-02 185.00 1 2009-01-02 175.00 1 2010-01-03 135.00 1 NULL NULL 5 2010-01-01 130.00 5 NULL NULL 5 2010-01-02 135.00 5 NULL NULL 5 2010-01-03 130.00 5 NULL NULL 6 2010-01-01 100.00 6 2009-01-01 135.00 6 2010-01-02 12.00 6 2009-01-02 400.00 6 2010-01-03 85.00 6 NULL NULL 6 NULL NULL 6 2009-01-07 21.00 6 NULL NULL 6 2009-01-08 45.00 6 NULL NULL 8 2009-01-09 123.00 6 NULL NULL 8 2009-01-10 581.00 So, even if there are no sales in one range or another, it should just fill the empty space with NULL. So far, I've come up with this quick query, but I the "dates" from sales to sales2 sometimes are different in each row: SELECT sales.*, sales2.* FROM sales LEFT JOIN sales AS sales2 ON (sales.id_store=sales2.id_store) WHERE sales.date >= '2010-01-01' AND sales.date <= '2010-01-10' AND sales2.date >= '2009-01-01' AND sales2.date <= '2009-01-10' ORDER BY sales.id_store ASC, sales.date ASC, sales2.date ASC What am I missing?
