    I'm currently reading a regularly updated XML file with PHP (simpleXML). I'd like to reduce calls to the remote server by reading a cache file on my web server, then after some time, retrieving a new copy of the remote file. Is this an accepted practice for reading remote XML files, then parsing? Can anyone offer some suggestions on how to go about this in PHP, or perhaps there are some PEAR classes that deal with this?

  • php Services_Facebook: some users are considered as not logged-in

  • Php exec() return code is -1 when in a forked process, but 0 in a normal script

    I am using exec() inside a a script that runs as a daemon and forks child processes using the pear class Net_Server. I am getting a strange issue whereby the return code (the third param of of exec) comes back as -1. When I run the command on the command line, or with exec in a normal php script the return code is 0 as it should be. Anyone have any idea why this is happening, and how to fix it?

    Is there a way to untar a file with multiple tars inside? It's suppose to just untar everything inside including untarring the tars inside the tar... With windows it does it, quite annoying I can't figure it out on linux...   • Mac Websharing Off but Process Running

    I have my mac setup to use php / mysql / apache via macports. Recently it has gone a bit pear shaped: it seems that the local mac versions of apache and mysql are running blocking the macports services: (48)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 (48)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443 Web sharing in System preferences is off - How can I properly disable it? I tried turning it on an off again in System Preferences but it would not changed from off to on. Also if I kill the process it starts running again.

    I'm trying to install ajaxplorer at a shared hosting in my home folder. When I navigate to the main page, I get an error: is_writable(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/lib/php5) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www//username/:/usr/sbin/sendmail:/usr/share/php :/home/www/appname::/usr/share/pear:/dev/urandom) What might be the cause? How could I fix it? There is php 5.3.3 installed, apache 2.2.16. I use ajaxplorer 4.0.4. EDIT: The problem is caused by this code part: $tmpDir = session_save_path(); $this-testedParams["Session Save Path"] = $tmpDir; if($tmpDir != ""){ $this-testedParams["Session Save Path Writeable"] = is_writable($tmpDir); Error appears in the last line, but I enclosed the context.

    I have looked through many tutorials on installing a web server, and some of them have enormous amounts of various PHP extensions. I have a few questions about that: Why would one want to install all those extensions? How to know which extensions you have to install for your site to work properly? Why some tutorials "just" tell you to install them all, when some tell you to install 4 or 5 of them? Thanks! P.S. I'm quite new to Linux, and I'm installing a web server using nginx. Or looking for information about things that look odd to me at the moment. C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\test.php In test.php I am using curl and mysql. The php.ini in JavaBridge is stored in the following location C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\php.ini and its contents are - extension_dir="C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\x86-windows\ext" include_path="C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\pear;." there is also a config file called mysql.ini whose contents are - extension = php_mysql.dll I had also installed wamp earlier so I copied all the dll's from C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\ext to C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\WEB-INF\cgi\x86-windows\ext When I start tomcat and run my script I get the following error - Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysqli_connect() in C:\Program Files\apache-tomcat-6.0.26\webapps\JavaBridge\project\test.php on line 534 Please help.

  • Can't send emails through sendmail, error occured

    Hi, I have sendmail MTA and i use pear:Mail class to send mails through remote sendmail server. Everything was fine till yesterday. Probably nothing changes was made in configs. At maillog i can see: May 6 12:58:55 xxx sendmail[25903]: STARTTLS=server, relay=hostxxxx.static.xx.xx.pl [85.x.x.x], version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=NO, cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, bits=256/256 May 6 12:58:56 xxx sendmail[25903]: o46AwtqE025903: hostxxxx.static.xx.xx.pl [85.x.x.x] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA2 and in /var/log/messages: May 6 13:00:17 lilia sendmail[27193]: realm changed: authentication aborted I use ldap to authenticate users but i used the same script to check mailing on another server and it works there good, only this server behave weird. Packets are deliverd to sendmail server i can see it in tcpdump, but there is smaller packets than on other server which sends emails. Could you tell me how can i check what is wrong with that? D.S.

    I've done phpinfo() to see if it was installed but I see no mention of the gd libraries anywhere.     It's OK (compatible) to install PECL native JSON (from here) in PHP 5.0.4, on a production server running FC4 where unfortunately I cannot update PHP to at least 5.2 ? If there is a good chance to screw up PHP instalation on the server, I will not try to install it, and I will stick to Service JSON ( http ://svn.php.net/viewvc/pear/packages/Services_JSON/trunk/ ) In documentation ( http ://aurore.net/projects/php-json/ ) I have found: A simple ./configure; make; make install should do the trick. Make sure to add an extension=json.so line to your php.ini/php.d. (but I can't find anythink about compatible versions of PHP) Thank you. (Please don't tell me to update the OS and PHP, beacause it's not my decision :( )

  • Why is group write permission ignored in Ubuntu?

    I want my user to have full access to the local Apache root folder, and I also want the Apache user to have full access to the same folder. What I did was create a new group called DevGroup and I added my user and www-data there. Also I changed the permissions to 770 to allow full group access. But now it won't allow me or the Apache user any kind of access to the folder.   • Error with Internationalization extension while compiling php 5.4.8

    I downloaded latest php version from php.net i.e. PHP 5.4.8 I configured it with following command ./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-mysql --enable-intl --with-libdir=lib64 --with-pear --with-mcrypt --with-mhash --enable-mbstring --with-iconv --with-icu-dir=/usr --with-gettext --with-curl --with-mysqli --with-freetype --with-gd --with-curlwrappers --with-jpeg-dir=/usr --with-png-dir=/usr After this I run 'make' which start building / compiling PHP. After some time It throws me error ext/intl/.libs/php_intl.o: In function `zm_startup_intl': php-5.4.8/ext/intl/php_intl.c:651: undefined reference to `spoofchecker_register_Spoofchecker_class' php-5.4.8/ext/intl/php_intl.c:654: undefined reference to `spoofchecker_register_constants' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [sapi/cli/php] Error 1 Spent lots of hours finding solutions. I can't come out of any. Does anyone know what this error exactly means? How to get rid of this error?

  • Configuring php with apache

    I managed to thoroughly confuse myself with php configuration in my apache install (on a mac). I am trying to get xdebug to work in eclipse and noticed that there are two different installs of php on my machine. The one (v5.4.5) in the apache install directory /opt/local/apache2/ and another one (v5.3) in the default system directory /usr/bin. My questions are: The php in the apache install directory was installed by me from source. But it does not have a php.ini file, instead it has PEAR.conf and other bunch of conf files. What are they and did I install something wrong? Can I compile apache with php support and have it use the php from the system directory right? How do I know which php its using? httpd -M is the only command i can see. Can I force apache to use a different php?
