  I have downloaded an ISO file of UBANTU 12.10 x86 from the official website (www.ubantu.com). When I tried to install it everything was going good till I got the error message something like "the media you are using is probably currupt or you have an hard disk error . It did't told me what to do. I am already running WINDOW 7 ultimate in my pc and it is running fine i have tested my hard disk for error and no errors was found by "system mechanic pro 11" . after that i tried to install my WINDOW 7 on the same partition and it was successful . Even now I am unable to install UBANTU. It is my first experience with UBANTU so I don't know what to do. please guide me . my email is [email protected]

• ORA-00900 Super Easy Fix (for some cases)

  Here is a really easy fix for some ORA-00900 errors. Well at least the one I saw the other day. This was something that I did not come across when searching either. I found lots of other ideas on what the problem might be but not the fix. Since I am fairly new to PL/SQL (TSQL only for a long time) this one stumped me for a while. Until I asked someone and they saw the error in about two seconds. When using the Command Window to add a view I was receiving an ORA-00900 error. So I checked that everything the view was referencing was there and that the permissions looked OK. The code for the view was fairly simple and it ran just fine in a regular SQL Window. It ended up that the Command Window did not like the space I had between the list of items in the select before the from. Bad: col1,col2,                               <--- does not like the empty linefrom tblSomething Good: col1,col2,from tblSomething I will just chalk that up to my familiarity with PL/SQL.   I`ve tried to put the same Image into an array (array contains 22 Images) to form inventory. for(int i=0;i>22;i++){ invSprite[i] = new Sprite(ingame); invSprite[i].defineReferencePixel(0,0); } and if(inventory){ for(int i=0;i>22;i++){ if(i>=11){ invSprite[i].setRefPixelPosition(0+15*i, 27); }else{ invSprite[i].setRefPixelPosition(0+15*i, 42); } invSprite[i].paint(g); } } If the inventory is on it will show those Images but it`s not. PS if I would try invSprite[0].setRefPixelPosition(10, 27); invSprite[0].paint(g); it would throw an java/lang/NullPointerException

• I am being paid very little(imo), how can I change this? [migrated]

  I am a web developer with about 4 years of relevant work experience in my field. Recently, I went from making $30/hr working from home contracting for large companies to a full time job that only pays 40k/yr. The company I work for now is great, nice people, but a little behind the times. I joined on with very little experience in SQL development but they put me in charge of querying the DB and making reports right away, so I had to go in head first and pick up that skill right away. Which is great, I'm happy I learned more of that, and really make good time when doing SQL now. However, I'm now doing most of their advanced SQL stuff. The day I started, another employee who was running a MVC project based in Yii (which is the sole item that makes this company software) put in his two weeks. Two weeks later, I'm the only one who knows how to use, access, modify, or update this project. Its quite a large responsibility for an "entry level dev", no? I am doing highly advanced jQuery for them to modernize their forms, webpages, amongst other things, a skill that I would bet on few Entry levels being able to do as well as me. I may be wrong, but I feel that what I'm making now is not acceptable. We don't have reviews, ever, so I can't just wait for that.. so I was wondering.. do I sound justified in wanting to be paid more, and how can I make this happen?

• Need some help fixing fonts (11.04 Alpha 3)

  Hi I changed my Application Font and Window Font to something much better looking but it has a few problems. The font is Umpush Light. It's doing this in the software center: http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/8307/workspace1004.png If I increase the font size from 11 to 12, that problem goes away, but then everything is too large. When I increase it this also happens: http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6231/workspace1006e.png It starts moving the text in the search box up, and the "All Applications" drop down gets messed up too. It seems like there is too much padding around the font or something. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?
