  • Can't get NSTableView to display data.

    - by Alberto
Hi! I see there are a lot of questions about this, but nothing helped me to get this work. I have a nib with a NSTableView with three columns (with the right identifiers set) and a class named ShortcutsTableController. In the nib I have a NSObject with class value ShortcutsTableController. I also connected the NSTableView to my controller as I usually do. This is header ShortcutsTableController.h. #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface ShortcutsTableController : NSObject <NSTableViewDataSource> { IBOutlet NSTableView *shortcutsTable; NSMutableArray *shortcutsList; } - (int) numberOfRowsInTableView: (NSTableView*) tableView; - (id)tableView:(NSTableView *)tableView objectValueForTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn row:(int)row; @property (assign) IBOutlet NSTableView *shortcutsTable; - (void)setUpTable; @end And this is the implementation file ShortcutsTableController.m. #import "ShortcutsTableController.h" @implementation ShortcutsTableController @synthesize shortcutsTable; - (void)setUpTable { shortcutsList = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSDictionary *dict1 = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"blabla", @"nameColumn", @"Bla bla bla", @"shortcutColumn", @"Ribla", @"actionColumn", nil]; [shortcutsList addObject:dict1]; [shortcutsTable setDataSource:self]; [shortcutsTable reloadData]; } -(int) numberOfRowsInTableView: (NSTableView *) tableView { return [shortcutsList count]; } - (id)tableView:(NSTableView *)tableView objectValueForTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn row:(int)row { if (row != -1) return [[shortcutsList objectAtIndex:row] objectForKey:[tableColumn identifier]]; return nil; } @end But when i try to build nothing appears in the NSTableView. No errors, no warnings. Note that I call setUpTable from within the Delegate Class Method awakeFromNib. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thank you for you help. —Albé UPDATE. Added lines @property (assign) IBOutlet NSTableView *shortcutsTable; in header and @synthesize shortcutsTable; in implementation. Nothing changes. :(

  • Moving a sprite around the circumference of a circle in Cocos2d-iPhone

    - by CircleOfLife
I am new to Cocos2d. I have taken a look at the documentation at it looks pretty simple compared to what you need to do using basic Iphone classes such as UIAnimation etc. I want to move a Sprite (eg. Bird, Plane or Car) around the center of a circle around its circumference, smoothly so that even the sprite rotates accordingly. How is this possible in Cocos2d? It would be very helpful if someone can post some basic code. Thanks.

  • Selection Highlight in NSCollectionView

    - by Hooligancat
On some occasions my head just hurts from banging it against the Cocoa wall. Today is one of those days. I have a working NSCollectionView with one minor, but critical, exception. Getting and highlighting the selected item within the collection. I've had all this working prior to Snow Leopard, but something appears to have changed and I can't quite place my finger on it, so I took my NSCollectionView right back to a basic test and followed Apple's documentation for creating an NSCollectionView here: http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/DOCUMENTATION/Cocoa/Conceptual/CollectionViews/Introduction/Introduction.html The collection view works fine following the quick start guide. However, this guide doesn't discuss selection other than "There are such features as incorporating image views, setting objects as selectable or not selectable and changing colors if they are selected". Using this as an example I went to the next step of binding the Array Controller to the NSCollectionView with the controller key selectionIndexes, thinking that this would bind any selection I make between the NSCollectionView and the array controller and thus firing off a KVO notification. I also set the NSCollectionView to be selectable in IB. There appears to be no selection delegate for NSCollectionView and unlike most Cocoa UI views, there appears to be no default selected highlight. So my problem really comes down to a related issue, but two distinct questions. How do I capture a selection of an item? How do I show a highlight of an item? NSCollectionView's programming guides seem to be few and far between and most searches via Google appear to pull up pre-Snow Leopard implementations, or use the view in a separate XIB file. For the latter (separate XIB file for the view), I don't see why this should be a pre-requisite otherwise I would have suspected that Apple would not have included the view in the same bundle as the collection view item. I know this is going to be a "can't see the wood for the trees" issue - so I'm prepared for the "doh!" moment. As usual, any and all help much appreciated.

  • Cocoa Application with Menubar but no Dock Icon / switch menu

    - by Frank R.
Hi, This is yet one more of those "how to switch from running with a dock icon to running without one" questions with a twist.. I don't want the dock icon but I do want a menu bar when the application is at the front. Is that possible? Running an application with LSUIElement set to 1 in the plist will launch the application without a dock icon, not showing up in the command-tab switch list and without a menu. You can switch from that mode to the "normal" mode with all three switched on via SetSystemModeUI from 10.2 onwards and via NSApplication setApplicationActivationPolicy since 10.6, but crucially there is no way back to the previous mode (go figure). So one way around this would be to launch with LSUIElement = 1 and then activate the menu bar when the application gets the focus and deactivate it on the application losing the focus.. alas I can't find a way of doing that. Can anybody help? Best regards, Frank

  • "wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003"?

    - by Michael
I get this cryptic error the first time (and only the first time) my view is loaded due to the following line of code: - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { [textField becomeFirstResponder]; } There is a noticeable (~3 – 4 second, even on the simulator) delay due to this that makes my app feel unresponsive. Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't find any documentation on it on Apple's site, or any solutions here or on Google. Strangely, the opposite situation happens if I put the line in -viewDidAppear: instead of -viewWillAppear:; that is, instead of printing the error only the first time the keyboard is shown and never again, the error is not printed the first time but every time after. This is causing a major headache for me.

  • Cocoa contentsOfDirectoryAtPath: method failing with error for certain users - Mac OS X

    - by Patrick
Here's a snippet of the code: // Get into the data folder of it keychainPath = [keychainPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"data/default"]; DLog(@"Keychain data path: %@", keychainPath); // Define Filemanager NSFileManager *fm = [NSFileManager defaultManager]; // Catch any errors NSError *dataError = nil; // get all the files in the directory NSArray *dataFiles = [fm contentsOfDirectoryAtPath:keychainPath error:&dataError]; if(!dataFiles) NSLog(@"Error: %@",dataError); Now this works perfectly fine for most people, but a few have reported problems, with the 'dataError' object giving: Error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=260 UserInfo=0x14d1fa10 "The folder “default” doesn’t exist." Underlying Error=(Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-43 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -43.)" (File not found)) The people having this problem have said that the file / folder 'default' DOES exist exactly where is should be, so I have no idea why this isn't working. Any help would be appreciated!

  • UITabBarController + autorotation

    - by ludo
Hi, I created an application with a TabBarController using IB who have 4 TabBarItems and so display 4 differents ViewControllers. To allow a landscape orientation I must add this code in all of my ViewController: - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown ? NO : YES); } The problem is I don't want for example the secondViewController to autorotate, How can I do that? Because everytime I delete the code above in one of my ViewController, every ViewControllers not rotate anymore. Thanks

  • UINavigationController with UIView and UITableView

    - by Tobster
    I'm creating a navigation-based app which displays a graph, rendered with openGL, and a tableview listing disclosure buttons of all of the elements that are displayed on the graph, and a settings disclosure button. The navigation controller is also a tableview delegate and datasource, and the tableview is added to the view programatically and has its' delegate and datasource set to 'self'. The OpenGL based graph view is added via IB. The problem I'm having is that I'm trying to push a view controller (either settings or graph element properties) within the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method. The method registers and the new view is pushed on, but the tableview stays and obscures part of the view that was pushed on, as if it has a different navigation controller. I can't seem to set the tableview's navigation controller to be the same as the rest of the UINavigationControllers' view. Does anyone know how I could fix this? My navigation controllers' initWithCoder method, where the tableview is added, appears as follows: elementList = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:tableFrame style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; elementList.dataSource = self; elementList.delegate = self; [self.view addSubview:elementList]; Further in the source file, the DidSelectRowAtIndexPath method where the navigation controller is pushed appears as follows: Settings* Controller = [[Settings alloc] init]; [self pushViewController:Controller animated:YES]; [Controller release];

  • annotationView didChangeDragState being fired multiple times

    - by RodH257
    I've got a draggable annotation in IOS4 mapkit, and I'm trying to call an event when the annotation is dragged to a new position. my code currently looks like: - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView annotationView:(MKAnnotationView *)annotationView didChangeDragState:(MKAnnotationViewDragState)newState fromOldState:(MKAnnotationViewDragState)oldState { if (newState == MKAnnotationViewDragStateEnding) { CLLocationCoordinate2D droppedAt = annotationView.annotation.coordinate; NSLog(@"dropped at %f,%f", droppedAt.latitude, droppedAt.longitude); //update the annotation //see if its an information annotation if ([annotationView.annotation isKindOfClass:[InfoAnnotation class]]) { NSLog(@"Info annotation updating.."); InfoAnnotation* userAnnotation = ((InfoAnnotation *)annotationView.annotation); [userAnnotation updateLocationWithServerForConvoy: self.title]; } } } the code simply logs the update and then tells the annotation to send its update to my server, which is a custom method. This method seems to be getting fired multiple times, see the log here: 2011-06-15 01:12:39.347 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.347 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:39.658 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.659 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:39.957 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.340206,-122.027550 2011-06-15 01:12:39.958 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:43.415 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:43.416 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:43.713 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:43.713 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:44.006 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:44.006 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:44.297 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.339251,-122.026691 2011-06-15 01:12:44.297 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:54.825 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:54.825 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.150 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.150 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.475 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.476 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:55.771 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:55.772 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating.. 2011-06-15 01:12:56.070 Convoy[1699:207] dropped at 37.337135,-122.025833 2011-06-15 01:12:56.070 Convoy[1699:207] Info annotation updating..   • iPhone static libraries: How to hide instance variable

    - by Frenzy
I'm creating a static library to share using the following guide: http://www.amateurinmotion.com/articles/2009/02/08/creating-a-static-library-for-iphone.html In one of the functions, I return a "SomeUIView" which is a subclass of UIView and is defined in the public header, however I don't want to expose the internal instance variable of SomeUIView in the public header. I've tried using categories for a private internal header file for SomeUIView, but I keep running into "Duplicate interface declaration for class 'SomeUIView'". Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

  • What to do with CSV after export on the iPhone?

    - by alku83
One of the requested features for my apps is to have an export feature. Most of the time the data is table-like in nature. As an example, users might enter every day what types of food they ate that day, and how many portions of each food type. As the data is table-like, I figure the most useful for export would be into CSV format. Then it can be read in spreadsheet software. I'm confident I can get the data into a CSV like format without too much trouble, and found this post would should help me: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1512883/how-to-convert-data-to-csv-or-html-format What I'm wondering about is what I can do with the file once it has been created? Can I attach it to an email? How else can I make it available to the user so that it has some use? Alternatively, am I going about this the wrong way and would there be a better way to offer an export function?

  • When overriding initWithCoder is it always necessary to call [super initWithCoder: coder]

    - by Evan
In this code I am loading a View Controller (and associated View) from a .xib: -(id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)coder { [super initWithCoder:coder]; return self; } This successfully works, but I do not really understand what the line [super initWithCoder:coder] is accomplishing. Is that initializing my View Controller after my View has been initialized? Please be as explicit as possible when explaining. Thanks.

  • Running and managing NSTimer in different NSThread/NSRunLoop

    - by mips
I'm writing a Cocoa application, with a GUI designed in Interface Builder. I need to schedule background activity (at regular intervals) without blocking the UI, so I run it in a separate thread, like this: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(NSNotification *)aNotification { [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(schedule) withObject:nil]; } - (void) schedule { NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSRunLoop* runLoop = [NSRunLoop currentRunLoop]; timer = [[NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:FEED_UPDATE_INTERVAL target:activityObj selector:@selector(run:) userInfo:nil repeats:YES] retain]; [runLoop run]; [pool release]; } I retain the timer, so I can easily invalidate and reschedule. Problem: I must also fire the run: method in response to GUI events, so it is synchronous (i.e. a "perform activity" button). Like this: [timer fire]; I could do this with performSelectorInBackground too, and of course it doesn't block the UI. But this synchronous firings run in another runloop! So I have no guarantee that they won't overlap. How can I queue all of my firings on the same runloop?

  • How to push a modal view from didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo

    - by Andiih
I've got an imagePickerController which allows the user to take or select an image. In - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info; I would like to trigger opening another modal view to capture the caption. I have a call for that purpose... -(void) getcaption:(id) obj { textInput * ti = [[textInput alloc] initWithContent:@"" header:@"Caption for photo" source:2]; ti.delegate = self; [self presentModalViewController:ti animated:YES]; [ti release]; } The question is how to call getcaption without triggering a spiral of #6663 0x324abb18 in -[UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] () At the moment I do [self performSelector:@selector(getcaption:) withObject:nil afterDelay:(NSTimeInterval)1]; in didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo which is nasty, and only 95% reliable

  • UIKeyBoard resize on orientation change to landscape

    - by Dave
This is very rookie question. I have a UIToolBar at the bottom which is supposed to animatedly move up and down with key board when the UIKeyBoard is displayed. I got that working with the help of UIKeyBoard Notifications. The view we are talking about has split view enabled. When device orientation is landscape, both the views as columns are shown [hope that makes sense]. When key board is shown, i do this CGSize keyBoardSize = [[notificationInfo objectForKey:UIKeyboardFrameEndUserInfoKey]CGRectValue].size; CGRect toolbarFrame= [BottomToolBar frame]; toolbarFrame.origin.y -= keyBoardSize.height; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3]; BottomToolBar .frame = viewFrame; [UIView commitAnimations]; when key board is hiiden i do this toolbarFrame.origin.y += keyBoardSize.height; My Problem is when device orientation changes to landscape, when the key board is visible the bottom tool bar is gone. I see it move up quickly. I am not sure how to fix this. Can anyone help please? Also, is there a way to NOT make the key board span across both the views in the split view?

  • Remote Backup User Data on iPhone

    - by Eric
I wrote a few iPhone apps using Core Data for persistent storage. Everything is working great but I would like to add the ability for users to back up their data to a PC (via WiFi to a PC app) or to a web server. This is new to me and I can't seem to figure out where to begin researching the problem. I don't want to overcomplicate the issue if there is an easy way to implement this. Is anyone familiar enough with what I am looking to do to point me in the right direction or give me a high level overview of what I should be considering? The data is all text and would be perfectly stored in .csv files if that matters.

  • Implementing touch-based rotation in cocoa touch

    - by ewoo
I am wondering what is the best way to implement rotation-based dragging movements in my iPhone application. I have a UIView that I wish to rotate around its centre, when the users finger is touch the view and they move it. Think of it like a dial that needs to be adjusted with the finger. The basic question comes down to: 1) Should I remember the initial angle and transform when touchesBegan is called, and then every time touchesMoved is called apply a new transform to the view based on the current position of the finger, e.g., something like: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS //middle is centre of view && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //will be rotation gesture //remember state of view at beginning of touch CGPoint top = CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0); self.initialTouch = currentPoint; self.initialAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, top, self.middle, currentPoint); self.initialTransform = self.transform; } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //a rotation gesture //rotate tile float newAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0), self.middle, currentPoint); //touch angle float angleDif = newAngle - self.initialAngle; //work out dif between angle at beginning of touch and now. CGAffineTransform newTransform = CGAffineTransformRotate(self.initialTransform, angleDif); //create new transform self.transform = newTransform; //apply transform. } OR 2) Should I simply remember the last known position/angle, and rotate the view based on the difference in angle between that and now, e.g.,: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:self.middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //will be rotation gesture //remember state of view at beginning of touch CGPoint top = CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0); self.lastTouch = currentPoint; self.lastAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, top, self.middle, currentPoint); } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event{ UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint currentPoint = [touch locationInView:self]; //current position of touch if (([touch view] == self) && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:middle] <= ROTATE_RADIUS && [Utility getDistance:currentPoint toPoint:middle] >= MOVE_RADIUS) { //a rotation gesture //rotate tile float newAngle = angleBetweenLines(self.middle, CGPointMake(self.middle.x, 0), self.middle, currentPoint); //touch angle float angleDif = newAngle - self.lastAngle; //work out dif between angle at beginning of touch and now. CGAffineTransform newTransform = CGAffineTransformRotate(self.transform, angleDif); //create new transform self.transform = newTransform; //apply transform. self.lastTouch = currentPoint; self.lastAngle = newAngle; } The second option makes more sense to me, but it is not giving very pleasing results (jaggy updates and non-smooth rotations). Which way is best (if any), in terms of performance? Cheers!

  • IKImageView resize is blocky

    - by Brian Postow
I am putting an image into an IKImageView, and immediately sizing it to fit. Whenever I do this, the image originally appears at 1-1 size (huge) and then resizes down, which would be fine if the animation was smooth. However, the animation looks ... fluttery? There are big blocks, like 2 inches square, of the image that appear and shrink independently of each other. The effect is a little annoying, and almost to the level where it might give an epileptic a seizure... (I'm exaggerating a little). Is this a bug in IKImageView? Is it a bug in the animation? Will it go away if I turn off the animation (How do I do that? setAnimates: NO doesn't seem to do anything, nor does overloading animates to return NO in my subclass... EDIT: addedcode: NSImage* image = [doc currentImage]; [imageView setImage: image]; [imageView zoomImageToFit: self]; This is in the app controller, so self is the application (or plugin, depending on which version I'm looking at)
