• Ubuntu One file sync error: SSL Handshake

  Ubuntu One repeatedly tries to sync my files but keeps disconnecting before anything is uploaded.   .NET Reflector 6.1 and .NET Reflector Pro 6.1 have been released. You can download them from: http://www.red-gate.com/products/reflector/index.htm .NET Reflector is a class browser and disassembler for .NET assemblies. .NET Reflector Pro is a Visual Studio debugging extension that allows you to step through third party and framework assemblies, as if they were built from your own source code. This release fixes several problems that were present in the 6.0 release: Support for using a copy of Reflector.cfg stored alongside Reflector.exe has been re-enabled so users upgrading from 5.x releases will not lose their settings. Fixed unhandled exception on exit of Visual Studio when .NET Reflector add-in used in conjunction with TestDriven.NET add-in. Added better support for dealing with framework assemblies, which only contain meta-data, in the "Referenced Assemblies" folder. Fixed problem where attempted decompilation with CppCliLanguage add-in would lead to display of a page on the Red Gate website. Added option to activate .NET Reflector Pro to .NET Reflector menu in Visual Studio after receiving feedback from a number of users that it was hard to figure out how to activate the product. • Solving Kaggle’s Bike Sharing Demand Machine Learning Problem

  Kaggle.com hosts a lot of interesting machine learning problems online and thousands of its members compete to solve them for a bounty. Problems hosted on Kaggle has varying complexity to accomodate newbies to rock star developers – few problems are good enough for  newbies to learn basics of machine learning and few of them challenge the best of machine learning developers. I’m learning basics of machine learning for the past few weeks and had an opportunity to solve Kaggel’s Bike Sharing Demand problem. Bike Sharing systems allows customers to rent a bike (or a cycle as it is called in many part of the world) for several hours and return them back . The problem provides historical information about the demand for bike sharing business and we need to forecast the demand. For more information on the problem, visit Kaggle.com website. Here is the solution I written using random forests algorithm using R programming language and you can download the source code from github.  With this solution I was able to score RMSLE of 0.70117, which placed me somewhere in the mid of the leader board.  This is the best score I could get by spending 4 hours of my time. • Leaving Microsoft

  After two and a half years working with the ASP.NET team, I’ve decided that this is the right time to leave Microsoft and, with the help of some friends, re-launch my ASP.NET training and consulting company. The company has the modest name Superexpert. While working on my Ph.D. at MIT, I was surrounded by professors and students who were passionate about knowledge. During the Internet boom, I was lucky enough to work side-by-side with some very smart and hard-working people to create several successful startups. However, the people I worked with at Microsoft were among the smartest and hardest working. Microsoft hires a small number of people and gives them huge responsibilities. It continues to amaze me that so few people work on the ASP.NET team when you consider how much the team produces. I had the opportunity to work with a number of inspiring people at Microsoft. I’ll miss working with Scott Hunter, Dave Reed, Boris Moore, Eilon Lipton, Scott Guthrie, James Senior, Jim Wang, Phil Haack, Damian Edwards, Vishal Joshi, Mike Pope, Jon Young, Dmitry Robsman, Simon Calvert, Stefan Schackow, and many others. I’m proud of what we accomplished while I was working at Microsoft. We reached out to the jQuery team and changed direction from Microsoft Ajax to jQuery. We successfully contributed several important new features to the open-source jQuery project including jQuery Templates, jQuery Data-Linking, jQuery Globalization, and (as John Resig announced at the last jQuery conference) jQuery Require. I’m looking forward to returning to training and consulting. We want to focus on providing consulting on the “right way” of building ASP.NET websites, which we call Modern ASP.NET applications. By Modern ASP.NET applications, I mean applications built with ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, HTML5, and Visual Studio ALM. Additionally, we want to help companies that have existing ASP.NET Web Forms applications migrate to ASP.NET MVC. As I mentioned during the presentation I have not included the sample data, the music files, in the source code placed on GitHub but I have included instructions on how to download them from http://silents.bandcamp.comand place them in the correct folders. Also, Windows Media Player, by default, does not play Ogg Vorbis and Flac music files, however you can download the codec installer for these, for free, from http://xiph.org/dshow. • Twitter API Voting System

  So I blatantly got this idea from the MIX 10 event. At MIX they held a rockband talent competition type thing (I’m not quite sure of all the details).    But the interesting part for me is how they collected votes. They used Twitter (what else, when you have a few thousand geeks available to you). The basic idea was that you tweeted your vote with a # tag, i.e #ROCKBANDVOTE vote Richard How cool….    So the question is how do you write something to collate and count all the votes?   Time to press the magic Visual Studio new Project button… Twitter has a really nice API that can be invoked from .NET.   This is the snippet of code that will search for any given phrase i.e #ROCKBANDVOTE   public static XmlDocument GetSearchResults(string searchfor) { return GetSearchResults(searchfor, ""); }   public static XmlDocument GetSearchResults(string searchfor, string sinceid) { XmlDocument retdoc = new XmlDocument();   try { string url = "http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?&q=" + searchfor; if (sinceid.Length > 0) url += "since_id=" + sinceid; HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); request.Method = "POST"; request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; WebResponse res = request.GetResponse(); retdoc.Load(res.GetResponseStream()); res.Close();   } catch { } return retdoc; } } I’ve got two overloads, that optionally let you pass in the last ID to look for as well as what you want to search for. Note that Twitter rate limits the amount of requests you can send,  see http://apiwiki.twitter.com/Rate-limiting So realistically I wanted my app to run every hour or so and only pull out results that haven’t been received before (hence the overload to pass in the sinceid parameter). I’ll post the code when finished that parses the returned XML.

• Reading and conditionally updating N rows, where N > 100,000 for DNA Sequence processing

  I have a proof of concept application that uses Azure tables to associate DNA sequences to "something". Table 1 is the master table. It uniquely lists every DNA sequence. The PK is a load balanced hash of the RK. The RK is the unique encoded value of the DNA sequence. Additional tables are created per subject. Each subject has a list of N DNA sequences that have one reference in the Master table, where N is 100,000. It is possible for many tables to reference the same DNA sequence, but in this case only one entry will be present in the Master table. My Azure dilemma: I need to lock the reference in the Master table as I work with the data. I need to handle timeouts, and prevent other threads from overwriting my data as one C# thread is working with the information. Other threads need to realise that this is locked, and move onto other unlocked records and do the work. Ideally I'd like to get some progress report of how my computation is going, and have the option to cancel the process (and unwind the locks). Question What is the best approach for this? • Google Webmasters Tools strange 404 errors referred from same site

  Starting about a month ago, I noticed a sudden increase in 404 errors in Webmasters Tools for one of my sites (over 1400 errors so far). All the errors are being referred from my own site to non existent pages. The 404 error URLs are all of the same format: URL: http://www.helloneighbour.com/save/1347208508000 The number on the end appears to be a timestamp followed by 3 zeros. The referring page, in this case is : Linked from http://www.helloneighbour.com/save/cmw-insurance-insurance-burnaby When I look at the source code of that page, or I use Webmaster tools to view the page as Google sees it, I can't find any link that comes close to what is above. I built the site, and I can't find any place that might be causing these false links either. The server logs (access and error) don't show Google or anyone else trying to access these links. I've marked all these pages as fixed, and waited a couple of weeks, only to find the errors come back again over the last few days. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen anything strange like this, or if someone might have a way for me to debug, replicate this error myself.

Die unterschiedlichen Möglichkeiten ergeben sich vor allem aus dem Betrieb mehrerer AIA Instanzen parallel (z.B. Aufteilung in Dev/Test/Prod, Aufteilung zur Lastverteilung, Zuordnung zu unterschiedlichen Geografien, ...). Weitere Variationsmöglichkeiten bietet die Verteilung der unterschiedlichen Bestandteile des DB-Schemas (AIA Metadaten, Cross-Referencing Daten, AIA Lifecycle Repository, JMS Schema, etc.). Und schließlich können auch verschiedene Topologien der SOA Laufzeitumgebung, wie beispielsweise SOA Cluster, unterstützt werden. Diese Varianten mit ihren typischen Einsatzfeldern werden in dem Dokument ebenso beschrieben, wie deren Umsetzung mit Hilfe des Installers.In einem zweiten Teil befasst sich das White Paper mit dem Deployment der AIA Artefakte in diese Topologien, und zwar insbesondere mit dem Tool-Support durch die "Project Lifecycle Workbench" und dem "AIA Installation Driver". • IPV6 auto configuration not working

  In Windows 7, my computer can automatically get a IPV6 global address and use IPV6 network, but in Ubuntu Natty, I can't find out how to let stateless configuration work. My network is a university campus network,so I don't need tunnels. I think if one thing can silently and successfully be accomplished in Windows, it shouldn't be impossible in linux. I tried manually editing /etc/network/interfaces and used a static IPV6 address, and I can use IPV6 this way, but I just want to use auto-configuration. I found this post: http://superuser.com/questions/33196/how-to-disable-autoconfiguration-on-ipv6-in-linux and tried sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.autoconf=1 sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.accept_ra=1 but without any luck. I got this in dmesg: root@natty-150:~# dmesg |grep IPv6 [ 26.239607] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [ 657.365194] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [ 719.101383] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [32864.604234] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [33267.619767] eth0: no IPv6 routers present [33341.507307] eth0: no IPv6 routers present I am not sure whether it matters,but then I setup a static IPv6 address (with gateway) and restart network,I ping6 ipv6.google.com and the ipv6 network is fine.This time a entry was added in dmesg [33971.214920] eth0: no IPv6 routers present So I guess the complain of no IPv6 router does not matter?   As part of Tuxedo 11gR1 release, we introduced Oracle Tuxedo JCA Adapter. Tuxedo JCA Adapter is based JCA 1.5 specification and should be deployable on any JCA 1.5 compliant application server. I am saying "should" as we have tested Tuxedo JCA Adapter with WebLogic Server, IBM WebSphere and RedHat JBoss only. This adapter provides bi-directional service invocation and transaction and security context propagation from app server to Tuxedo. Basically Tuxedo JCA Adapter provides similar functionality to WebLogic Tuxedo Connector (WTC), if you are already familiar with it. One question we often receive is whether Tuxedo JCA Adapter 11g will interoperate with Tuxedo versions prior to 11g. Answer to this question is yes. Tuxedo JCA Adapter uses Tuxedo domains protocol, is deployed on application server and can interoperate with any current Tuxedo version, starting from version 8.1 and above.   Earlier I wrote a blog post about Remvoing Leading Zeros from Column In Table. It was a great co-incident that my friend Madhivanan (no need of introduction for him) also post a similar article over on BeyondRelational.com. I strongly suggest to read his blog as well as he has suggested some cool solutions to the same problem. On original blog post asked two questions 1) if my sample for testing is correct and 2) If there is any better method to achieve the same. The response was amazing. I am proud on our SQL Community that we all keep on improving on each other’s contribution. There are some really good suggestions as a comment. Let us go over them right now. Improving the ResultSet I had missed including all zeros in my sample set which was an overlook. Here is the new sample which includes all zero values as well.   I am trying to figure out why we need URIs for XML namespaces and I cannot find a purpose for that. Can anyone brighten me a little showing their use on a concrete example?
