  • Solution to compiler warning for generic varargs

    - by TJR
    A puzzle from this blog. Similar to SO1445233. Given the following source listing, explain why the compiler is producing a warning at invocation to the list method and give a solution for removing the warning without resorting to @SuppressWarnings annotation. public class JavaLanguagePuzzle3 { public static void main(String[] args) { list("1", 2, new BigDecimal("3.5")); } private static <T> List<T> list(T... items) { return Arrays.asList(items); } } Warning: Type safety: A generic array of Object&Serializable&Comparable<?> is created for a varargs parameter

  • different brainpoolP521r1 parameters for flexiProvider. Why?

    - by user182846
    I am trying to generate ECC public private key pairs using flexiProvider. I have noticed that values for parameters like p and q are different in brainpoolP521r1 of flexiProvider than those which are specified in many sites. Values specified are Q= AADD.... but what I get is Q=8948... Any idea why flexiProvider does not use specified values and whether having different values is affectes security. I am new to ECC. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Group Objects by Common Key

    - by Marshmellow1328
    I have a list of Customers. Each customer has an address and some customers may actually have the same address. My ultimate goal is to group customers based on their address. I figure I could either put the customers in some sort of list-based structure and sort on the addresses, or I could drop the objects into some sort of map that allows multiple values per key. I will now make a pretty picture: List: A1 - C1, A1 - C2, A2 - C3, A3 - C4, A3 - C5 Map: A1 A2 A3 C1 C3 C4 C2 C5 Which option (or any others) do you see as the best solution? Are there any existing classes that will make development easier?

  • What exactly is GRASP's Controller about?

    - by devoured elysium
    What is the idea behind Grasp's Controller pattern? My current interpretation is that sometimes you want to achieve something that needs to use a couple of classes but none of those classes could or has access to the information needed to do it, so you create a new class that does the job, having references to all the needed classes(this is, could be the information expert). Is this a correct view of what Grasp's Controller is about? Generally when googling or SO'ing controller, I just get results about MVC's (and whatnot) which are topics that I don't understand about, so I'd like answers that don't assume I know ASP.NET's MVC or something :( Thanks

  • timing response speed of serial device

    - by dario frongi
    I comunicate with a serial device via bluetooth. i send it pid and it responds to me with a data response. i comunicate with him with serial comunicatione one request-response. i want to measure how many response i receive in one second. i think that i have to know the moment when i do the request and the moment whene i receive the response and do the difference. The result(called delta) is the time-to response of device. in the end i have to do 1000ms/delta. how can calculate it ?

  • Junit | How to test parameters in a method

    - by MMRUser
    How do I test parameters inside a method itself. For example class TestClass { public void paraMethod(String para1, String para2) { String testPara1 = para1; String testPara2 = para2; } } class TestingClass { @Test public void testParaMethod () throws Exception { String myPara1 = "MyPara1"; String myPara2 = "MyPara2"; new TestClass().paraMethod(myPara1, myPara2); } } Ok, so is it possible to test if the testPara1 and testPara2 are properly set to the values that I have passed? Thanks.

  • custom implementation of interface methods

    - by Renuka
    Hello all, I have a doubt in this scenario, I have posted some example code here.... public interface a{ public void m1(); public void m2(); public void m3(); . . . public void m100(); } public class A implements a{ public void m3(){ // implementation code } // Here i need to implement only m3() method but not all 100 methods //basically i have to implement all the other 99 methods // but here i don't want to either implement or provide skeleton declarations for all //remaining.... what should i do for compiling this ???? } Could anyone help this?

  • Fastest method to define whether a number is a triangular number

    - by psihodelia
    A triangular number is the sum of the n natural numbers from 1 to n. What is the fastest method to find whether a given positive integer number is a triangular one? I suppose, there must be a hidden pattern in a binary representation of such numbers (like if you need to find whether a number is even/odd you check its least significant bit). Here is a cut of the first 1200th up to 1300th triangular numbers, you can easily see a bit-pattern here (if not, try to zoom out): (720600, '10101111111011011000') (721801, '10110000001110001001') (723003, '10110000100000111011') (724206, '10110000110011101110') (725410, '10110001000110100010') (726615, '10110001011001010111') (727821, '10110001101100001101') (729028, '10110001111111000100') (730236, '10110010010001111100') (731445, '10110010100100110101') (732655, '10110010110111101111') (733866, '10110011001010101010') (735078, '10110011011101100110') (736291, '10110011110000100011') (737505, '10110100000011100001') (738720, '10110100010110100000') (739936, '10110100101001100000') (741153, '10110100111100100001') (742371, '10110101001111100011') (743590, '10110101100010100110') (744810, '10110101110101101010') (746031, '10110110001000101111') (747253, '10110110011011110101') (748476, '10110110101110111100') (749700, '10110111000010000100') (750925, '10110111010101001101') (752151, '10110111101000010111') (753378, '10110111111011100010') (754606, '10111000001110101110') (755835, '10111000100001111011') (757065, '10111000110101001001') (758296, '10111001001000011000') (759528, '10111001011011101000') (760761, '10111001101110111001') (761995, '10111010000010001011') (763230, '10111010010101011110') (764466, '10111010101000110010') (765703, '10111010111100000111') (766941, '10111011001111011101') (768180, '10111011100010110100') (769420, '10111011110110001100') (770661, '10111100001001100101') (771903, '10111100011100111111') (773146, '10111100110000011010') (774390, '10111101000011110110') (775635, '10111101010111010011') (776881, '10111101101010110001') (778128, '10111101111110010000') (779376, '10111110010001110000') (780625, '10111110100101010001') (781875, '10111110111000110011') (783126, '10111111001100010110') (784378, '10111111011111111010') (785631, '10111111110011011111') (786885, '11000000000111000101') (788140, '11000000011010101100') (789396, '11000000101110010100') (790653, '11000001000001111101') (791911, '11000001010101100111') (793170, '11000001101001010010') (794430, '11000001111100111110') (795691, '11000010010000101011') (796953, '11000010100100011001') (798216, '11000010111000001000') (799480, '11000011001011111000') (800745, '11000011011111101001') (802011, '11000011110011011011') (803278, '11000100000111001110') (804546, '11000100011011000010') (805815, '11000100101110110111') (807085, '11000101000010101101') (808356, '11000101010110100100') (809628, '11000101101010011100') (810901, '11000101111110010101') (812175, '11000110010010001111') (813450, '11000110100110001010') (814726, '11000110111010000110') (816003, '11000111001110000011') (817281, '11000111100010000001') (818560, '11000111110110000000') (819840, '11001000001010000000') (821121, '11001000011110000001') (822403, '11001000110010000011') (823686, '11001001000110000110') (824970, '11001001011010001010') (826255, '11001001101110001111') (827541, '11001010000010010101') (828828, '11001010010110011100') (830116, '11001010101010100100') (831405, '11001010111110101101') (832695, '11001011010010110111') (833986, '11001011100111000010') (835278, '11001011111011001110') (836571, '11001100001111011011') (837865, '11001100100011101001') (839160, '11001100110111111000') (840456, '11001101001100001000') (841753, '11001101100000011001') (843051, '11001101110100101011') (844350, '11001110001000111110') For example, can you also see a rotated normal distribution curve, represented by zeros between 807085 and 831405?

    I need make a merge sort using an additional array. Here is my code: public class extra_storage{ public static void main(String[]args) { int x[]=new int[]{12,9,4,99,120,1,3,10}; int a[]=new int[x.length]; mergesort(x,0,x.length-1,a); for (int i=0;i<x.length;i++){ System.out.println(x[i]); } } public static void mergesort(int x[],int low,int high, int a[]){ if (low>=high) { return; } int middle=(low+high)/2; mergesort(x,low,middle,a); mergesort(x,middle+1,high,a); int k; int lo=low; int h=high; for (k=low;k<high;k++) if ((lo<=middle ) && ((h>high)||(x[lo]<x[h]))){ a[k]=x[lo++]; } else { a[k]=x[h++]; } for (k=low;k<=high;k++){ x[k]=a[k]; } } } But something is wrong. When I run it the output is this: 1 0 3 0 4 0 9 0 What is the problem?

  • Unable to pass attribute from controller to view

    - by MDS
    I'm using Spring MVC 3 for a web app. In the app a URI template is supposed to be handled by a controller method, which then passes an attribute to a view. Currently, the controller does handle the request, and it even forwards to the correct view. However, it does NOT pass the attribute to the view. Below are the URI template, controller method and relevent jsp tags. Anyone see what is wrong? URI: /home/{status} Controller: @RequestMapping("/home") @Controller public class HomeController { ... ... @RequestMapping(value="/{status}") public String homeStatusView(@PathVariable("status") String status, ModelMap model) { model.addAttribute("status", status); return "home"; } } JSP: ... <c:if test="${not empty status}"> <span class="status">Your status is available...</span> </c:if> ...

  • Browser compatibility; Before or after uploading website to server?

    - by Camran
    I am on the stage where I need to make my website cross-browser compatible. I need tips on how to get started. I have developed my website on firefox, so it works great with firefox. I guess I have to download a couple of versions of all major browsers now, right? Then just test each browser one by one? Should I do this before uploading the entire website onto a server or afterwards? All tips and SW which makes this easier is appreciated. BTW, it is a classifieds website using MySql, Solr, PHP, js etc... Thanks

  • Access attribute values of empty element tag in xml

    - by meenakshik
    Hello, I have a xml where I got some empty complex elements and I need to access the attribute values of this element. <test> <a> <abc-metadata name="testData" value="This is a test"/> </a> </test> I want to get hold of the 'testData' and 'This is a test' values. I do read the document and I tried accessing it document.getElementsByTagName . I am sure there is some way to access attributes of element tags but somehow it throws me nullpointer exception. Thanks in advance

  • Just a small help about switch's use

    - by Laurent Fournier
    If an answer on this already exist, my apologies i've not found on this question... is this statement correct if i want presice actions on integers from -2 to 0, and for those between 1 and 6 apply the same methods with only my integer who'll change ? Like this: public void setCaseGUI(Point pt, int i, boolean b){ plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setSelected(b); plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setIcon(null); switch(i) { case -2: plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setText("F"); plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setForeground(Color.red); break; case -1: plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setText("B"); plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setForeground(Color.red); break; case 0: plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setText(""); plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setForeground(null); break; case 1: case 2: case 3: case 4: case 5: case 6: case 7: case 8: plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setText(String.valueOf(i)); plateau.cellule[(int)pt.getAbs()][(int)pt.getOrd()].setForeground(null); break; default: System.out.println("Erreur de changement d'état/case !"); } } Please don't be too harsh on me i've started to learn dev only a few month ago
