  I need to parse a file line by line on given rules. Here is a requirement. file can have multiple lines with different data.. 01200344545143554145556524341232131 1120034454514355414555652434123213101200344545143554145556524341232131 2120034454514 and rules can be like this. if byte[0,1] == "0" then extract this line to /tmp/record0.dat if byte[0,1] == "1" then extract this line to /tmp/record1.dat if byte[0,1] == "2" then extract this line to /tmp/record2.dat I am looking for any language which can do this in a fast manner with a very long file size like 2 GB. • JFileChooser select directory but show files

  I feel like there should be a simple way to do this but I can't figure it out. I have a JFileChooser that allows the user to select directories. I want to show all the files in the directories to give the user some context, but only directories should be accepted as selections (maybe the Open button would be disabled when a file is selected). Is there an easy way of doing this?

  I am using hibernate to update 20K products in my database. As of now I am pulling in the 20K products, looping through them and modifying some properties and then updating the database. so: load products foreach products session begintransaction productDao.MakePersistant(p); session commit(); As of now things are pretty slow compared to your standard jdbc, what can I do to speed things up? I am sure I am doing something wrong here.

• After a few same hql query the application freezes

  I am calling below function with the same batchNumber and it is working without problem 15 times and takes the records fromm database without problem but at 16. time the application freezes when the query.list() row is called. It just loses debug focus and not give any exception. This problem probably is not about the hql because I've seen this problem before and I used criteria instead of hql and I got pass this problem. But for this when I use "group by" in criteria(setrojection....) it doesn't return the result as hibernate model(object) just returns a list. But I need the results as model. Note: about 15 times it is just for test. • Junit test that creates other tests

  Normally I would have one junit test that shows up in my integration server of choice as one test that passes or fails (in this case I use teamcity). What I need for this specific test is the ability to loop through a directory structure testing that our data files can all be parsed without throwing an exception. Because we have 30,000+ files that that 1-5 seconds each to parse this test will be run in its own suite. The problem is that I need a way to have one piece of code run as one junit test per file so that if 12 files out of 30,000 files fail I can see which 12 failed not just that one failed, threw a runtimeexception and stopped the test. I realize that this is not a true "unit" test way of doing things but this simulation is very important to make sure that our content providers are kept in check and do not check in invalid files. Any suggestions?

  In my Android app, I want to use a single variable for the log name in multiple files. At the moment, I'm specifying it separately in each file, e.g. public final String LOG_NAME = "LogName"; Log.d(LOG_NAME, "Logged output); I've tried this: public final String LOG_NAME = (String) getText(R.string.app_name_nospaces); And while this works in generally most of my files, Eclipse complains about one of them: The method getText(int) is undefined for the type DatabaseManager I've made sure I'm definitely importing android.content.Context in that file. If I tell it exactly where to find getText: Multiple markers at this line - Cannot make a static reference to the non-static method getText(int) from the type Context - The method getText(int) is undefined for the type DatabaseManager I'm sure I've committed a glaringly obvious n00b error, but I just can't see it! • Android/ORMLite Insert Row with ID

  I'm currently using ORMLite to work with a SQLite database on Android. As part of this I am downloading a bunch of data from a backend server and I'd like to have this data added to the SQLite database in the exact same format it is on the backend server (ie the IDs are the same, etc). So, my question to you is if I populate my database entry object (we'll call it Equipment), including Equipment's generatedId/primary key field via setId(), and I then run a DAO.create() with that Equipment entry will that ID be saved correctly? I tried it this way and it seems to me that this was not the case. If that is the case I will try again and look for other problems, but with the first few passes over the code I was not able to find one. So essentially, if I call DAO.create() on a database object with an ID set will that ID be sent to the database and if it is not, how can I insert a row with a primary key value already filled out? • Sources from referenced projects are not deployed to Tomcat in Eclipse

  Hi, I have setup a dynamic web project in eclipse with JSF in which I trust on code from another project (framework). Therefore, I added the framework project to the build path of the website project. So far so good, Eclipse recognises every class and the project builds without errors. Problem is though that when I do "run on server" to test it on tomcat 6.0.24, the application fails. I get ClassNotFoundException on every class from the framework project. Is this a bug or is some specific configuration necessary for this?

• Can I bypass an intermediate object in hibernate

  I have top level entities TRACK, MEDIA_GROUP and MEDIA, each with an integer primary key. I also have a join table from TRACK to MEDIA_GROUP which is 1:1 and MEDIA has a FK column into MEDIA_GROUP. I'm trying to find a way in hibernate to map a collection of Media directly into the Track object, bypassing the creation of a MediaGroup object. Basically I want to turn this: TRACK <-> MEDIA_TRACK_MAP <-> MEDIA_GROUP <-> MEDIA into this: TRACK <-> MEDIA_TRACK_MAP <-> MEDIA But the join column between MEDIA_TRACK_MAP and MEDIA isn't the primary key of MEDIA.

So, I tried this. if (!myString.eqauls("")) { doSomething } and this if (!myString.eqauls(null)) { doSomething } and this if ( (!myString.eqauls("")) && (!myString.eqauls(null))) { doSomething } and this if ( (!myString.eqauls("")) && (myString!=null)) { doSomething } and this if ( myString.length()>0) { doSomething } And in all cases my program doSomething in spite on the fact that my string IS EMPTY. It equals to null. So, what is wrong with that?

• Thread help with Android game

  I need some help dealing with three Threads in Android One thread is the main thread, the other is the GLThread, and the other is a WorkerThread I created to update the game state. The problem I have is they all need to access the same LinkedList of game objects. Both the GLThread and my WorkerThread only read from the LinkedList, so no problem there, but occasionally I have the main thread adding in another game object to the list. How can I manage this? I tried using synchronized in front of the functions involved but it really slows down the application. For some reason, just catching the errors and not rendering or updating the game state that frame, causes it to start lagging permanently. Anyone have any great ideas?

• Maven + Tomcat acceleration

  I am writing a web application with Maven in the Eclipse IDE, and use Tomcat servlet container. So, I run Maven like this: mvn clean compile. It is reasonable that after this oepration I must re-run Tomcat so it can reinitialize the context (Sysdeo Tomcat launcher helps a lot). The problem is Maven execution and subsequebt Tomcat re-running takes noticable amount of time (like 10+ seconds for Maven and 20+ sec. for Tomcat, because of logging, Hibernate mappings, etc.) every time I do it. Is there any automated and more faster solution for these two operatioins? As I see it, a way better solution can be moving re-compiled classes only to the target dir.

• Android sql creating database once

  One thing i'm not understanding is how to create the database and data just once in an android application. I extend SQLiteOpenHelper and use a DataHelper class that to manipulate data. Now, I have addEvent() and updateEvent() within the DataHelper class. I create an instance of DataHelper in my Activity and addEvent() a couple of times to insert data. Well, now I don't know how to just do that once. If I restart the app, its just going to "addEvent()" again and so the data is being reset every time. Sorry for the probably really REALLY noob question. The only solution I found was not using the DataHelper class and just adding data "manually" within the onCreate() method in SQLiteOpenHelper.

• Specifiy classpath for maven

  Quite new to maven here so let me explain first what I am trying to do: We have certain JAR files which will not be added to the repo. This is because they are specific to Oracle ADF and are already placed on our application server. There is only 1 version to be used for all apps at anyone time. In order to compile though, we need to have these on the class path. There are a LOT of these JARS, so if we were to upgrade to a newer version of ADF, we would have to go into every application and redefine some pretty redundant dependencies. So again, my goal is to just add these JARs to the classpath, since we will control what version is actually used elsewhere. So basically, I want to just add every JAR in a given directory to maven's classpath for when it compiles. And without putting any of these JAR files in a repository. And of course, these JARs are not to be packaged into any EAR/WAR.

  Hi all: So in our server there are folders being generated with random names (such as "7nxxd", "tpy16q"). Inside each of these is the same subdirectory structure: <randomfilename>/.tld_cache/WEB-INF/tld/ c.tld/ fn.tld/ spring-form.tld/ fmt.tld/ spring.tld/ tiles-jsp.tld/ Each of these directories has 2 files: crc.ser and des.ser. Why are these files being created? Is there a way to specify the directory that they get written to besides the random name?

• Global variable in a recursive function how to keep it at zero?

  So if I have a recursive function with a global variable var_: int var_; void foo() { if(var_ == 3) return; else var_++; foo(); } and then I have a function that calls foo() so: void bar() { foo(); return; } what is the best way to set var_ =0 everytime foo is called thats not from within itself. I know I could just do: void bar() { var_ =0; foo(); return; } but I'm using the recursive function a lot and I don't want to call foo and forget to set var_=0 at a later date.
