  • Error while creating a table style in excel

    - by Rashmi Pandit
Hi, I am using the following function to create a TableStyle: Public Function CreateTableStyle() ActiveWorkbook.Unprotect Dim objTS As TableStyle On Error Resume Next Set objTS = ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle") On Error GoTo err_CreateTableStyle If Not objTS Is Nothing Then Exit Function End If Set objTS = ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles.Add("MyTableStyle") With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle") .ShowAsAvailablePivotTableStyle = True .ShowAsAvailableTableStyle = False End With With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlHeaderRow).Font .FontStyle = "Bold" .TintAndShade = 0 .ThemeColor = xlThemeColorDark1 End With With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlHeaderRow).Interior .ThemeColor = xlThemeColorLight2 .TintAndShade = -0.249946592608417 End With With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlTotalRow).Font .FontStyle = "Bold" .TintAndShade = 0 .ThemeColor = xlThemeColorDark1 End With With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlTotalRow).Interior .ThemeColor = xlThemeColorLight2 .TintAndShade = -0.249946592608417 End With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlSubtotalRow1).Font.FontStyle = "Bold" With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlSubtotalRow1).Interior .Color = 16764828 .TintAndShade = 0 End With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlSubtotalRow2).Font.FontStyle = "Bold" With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlSubtotalRow2).Interior .Color = 16777164 .TintAndShade = 0 End With ActiveWorkbook.Protect Exit Function err_CreateTableStyle: Call Common.ErrRaise(Erl, "Common", "CreateTableStyle", "CreateTableStyle") End Function At the line below: With ActiveWorkbook.TableStyles("MyTableStyle").TableStyleElements( _ xlHeaderRow).Font .FontStyle = "Bold" I am getting an error: Run-time error '1004' Unable to set the FontStyle property of the Font class. Can someone please identify the issue? I am not able to figure why it is not letting me set the property.

  • How do I calculate percentiles with python/numpy?

    - by Uri
Is there a convenient way to calculate percentiles for a sequence or single-dimensional numpy array? I am looking for something similar to Excel's percentile function. I looked in NumPy's statistics reference, and couldn't find this. All I could find is the median (50th percentile), but not something more specific.

  • Performance tuning of a Hibernate+Spring+MySQL project operation that stores images uploaded by user

    - by Umar
Hi I am working on a web project that is Spring+Hibernate+MySQL based. I am stuck at a point where I have to store images uploaded by a user into the database. Although I have written some code that works well for now, but I believe that things will mess up when the project would go live. Here's my domain class that carries the image bytes: @Entity public class Picture implements java.io.Serializable{ long id; byte[] data; ... // getters and setters } And here's my controller that saves the file on submit: public class PictureUploadFormController extends AbstractBaseFormController{ ... protected ModelAndView onSubmit(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response, Object command, BindException errors) throws Exception{ MutlipartFile file; // getting MultipartFile from the command object ... // beginning hibernate transaction ... Picture p=new Picture(); p.setData(file.getBytes()); pictureDAO.makePersistent(p); // this method simply calls getSession().saveOrUpdate(p) // committing hiernate transaction ... } ... } Obviously a bad piece of code. Is there anyway I could use InputStream or Blob to save the data, instead of first loading all the bytes from the user into the memory and then pushing them into the database? I did some research on hibernate's support for Blob, and found this in Hibernate In Action book: java.sql.Blob and java.sql.Clob are the most efficient way to handle large objects in Java. Unfortunately, an instance of Blob or Clob is only useable until the JDBC transaction completes. So if your persistent class defines a property of java.sql.Clob or java.sql.Blob (not a good idea anyway), you’ll be restricted in how instances of the class may be used. In particular, you won’t be able to use instances of that class as detached objects. Furthermore, many JDBC drivers don’t feature working support for java.sql.Blob and java.sql.Clob. Therefore, it makes more sense to map large objects using the binary or text mapping type, assuming retrieval of the entire large object into memory isn’t a performance killer. Note you can find up-to-date design patterns and tips for large object usage on the Hibernate website, with tricks for particular platforms. Now apparently the Blob cannot be used, as it is not a good idea anyway, what else could be used to improve the performance? I couldn't find any up-to-date design pattern or any useful information on Hibernate website. So any help/recommendations from stackoverflowers will be much appreciated. Thanks

  • Problem with object serialization in Applet-Servlet communication

    - by Bruce
    Hi guys, I spent a lot of time on thinking what is wrong with the following code. I send the object from my applet to servlet and then I read the object from servlet. Everything goes fine till reading serialized object from the servlet - I got IOException. Thank you in advance! Here is the code: Applet: try { URL servletURL = new URL(this.getCodeBase().getProtocol(), this.getCodeBase().getHost(), this.getCodeBase().getPort(), "/MyApplet"); URLConnection servletConnection = servletURL.openConnection(); servletConnection.setDoInput( true ); servletConnection.setDoOutput( true ); servletConnection.setUseCaches( false ); servletConnection.setRequestProperty( "Content-Type", "application/x-java-serialized-object" ); ObjectOutputStream output; output = new ObjectOutputStream( servletConnection.getOutputStream( ) ); output.writeObject( someObject ); output.flush( ); output.close( ); ObjectInputStream input = new ObjectInputStream( servletConnection.getInputStream( ) ); // Here I got the exception myObject = ( SomeObject ) input.readObject( ); } catch (java.io.IOException ioe) { System.err.println(ioe.getStackTrace()); } catch (Exception e) { System.err.println(e.getStackTrace()); } Servlet: response.setContentType("application/x-java-serialized-object"); try { ObjectInputStream inputFromApplet = new ObjectInputStream(request.getInputStream()); SomeObject myObject = (SomeObject) inputFromApplet.readObject(); ObjectOutputStream outputToApplet = new ObjectOutputStream(response.getOutputStream()); outputToApplet.writeObject(myObject); outputToApplet.flush(); } catch(Exception e) { // ... }

  • How to find the mime type of a file in python?

    - by Daren Thomas
Let's say you want to save a bunch of files somewhere, for instance in BLOBs. Let's say you want to dish these files out via a web page and have the client automatically open the correct application/viewer. Assumption: The browser figures out which application/viewer to use by the mime-type (content-type?) header in the HTTP response. Based on that assumption, in addition to the bytes of the file, you also want to save the MIME type. How would you find the MIME type of a file? I'm currently on a Mac, but this should also work on Windows. Does the browser add this information when posting the file to the web page? Is there a neat python library for finding this information? A WebService or (even better) a downloadable database? Edit: Thank you, Dave Webb.

  • Performance of vector::size() : is it as fast as reading a variable?

    - by zoli2k
I have do an extensive calculation on a big vector of integers. The vector size is not changed during the calculation. The size of the vector is frequently accessed by the code. What is faster in general: using the vector::size() function or using helper constant vectorSize storing the size of the vector? I know that compilers usually able to inline the size() function when setting the proper compiler flags, however, making a function inline is something that a compiler may do but can not be forced.

  • Base32 Decoding

    - by trampster
I have a base32 string which I need to convert to a byte array. And I'm having trouble finding a conversion method in the .net framework. I can find methods for base64 but not for base32. Convert.FromBase64String – something like this for base32 would be perfect. Is there such a method in the framework or do I have to roll my own?

  • How do I get Flex Builder to use the selected framework?

    - by Michael Prescott
I'm attempting to create a Flex Project that will cause the Flash Player to cache the Flex framework. Flex Builder comes with Flex SDK 3.2.0.3958 and setting the Framework Linkage to use Runtime shared Library (RSL) under Project Properties - Flex Build Path will separate the framework from my main application and I see that my project's bin-debug directory contains framework_3.2.0.3958.swf and *.swz for distribution. Flex SDK 3.4 fixes a few bugs, so I configured it as another available sdk and set it as the default SDK. When I compile, I expect the bin-debug directory to contain framework_3.4.0.9271.swf and *.swz; however, Flex Builder is still writing framework_3.2.0.3958.swf and *.swz. How do I configure Flex Builder to package the correct framework files for Flash Player caching?

  • Remove .net ContextMenuStrip Padding

    - by Frosty840
Hi, When creating a ContextMenuStrip, there is a huge amount of padding around the contained controls. For example: Me.myMenu = New ContextMenuStrip 'unset all obvious padding settings' Me.myMenu.ShowCheckMargin = False Me.myMenu.ShowImageMargin = False Me.myMenu.Margin = New System.Windows.Forms.Padding(0) Me.myMenu.Padding = New System.Windows.Forms.Padding(0) Dim addButton As New Button addButton.Size = New Size(60, 60) addButton.Text = "Button" Dim addControlHost As New ToolStripControlHost(addButton) Me.myMenu.Items.Add(addcontrolhost) Me.ContextMenuStrip = Me.myMenu This, ideally, would cause a 60x60 button to pop up at the cursor location. What actually pops up is this: The button is there, as expected, but despite there being no margin, no padding, and having set both Show*Margin settings to False, there is a massive border around the Button. I'm probably missing something blindingly obvious, but how can I get rid of all the white bordering, especially that huge right-hand margin?

  • SSAS error when deploying cube in BIDs

    - by user282382
I am getting the following error when deploying. This is in a cube which was working fine, all that has changed is a key column in one of the dimensions. Internal error: Failed to generate a hash string I have no idea what is causing this but even if I change the dimension back to how it was and try to deploy I get the same error. If anyone has seen this or knows how to fix it please respond.

  • Tetris Piece Rotation Algorithm

    - by coppercoder
What are the best algorithms (and explanations) for representing and rotating the pieces of a tetris game? I always find the piece rotation and representation schemes confusing. Most tetris games seem to use a naive "remake the array of blocks" at each rotation: http://www.codeplex.com/Project/ProjectDirectory.aspx?ProjectSearchText=tetris However, some use pre-built encoded numbers and bit shifting to represent each piece: http://www.codeplex.com/wintris Is there a method to do this using mathematics (not sure that would work on a cell based board)?

  • Displaying "Google like" search results

    - by RanM
Working in ASP.NET (VB), I am trying to develop a simple search results page for my website. The process is as follows: (1) The site's user enters a search phrase; (2) The search results page searched the site's database, and returns the page title as a link, and a short snippet from each search "hit", with the search phrase highlighted. I already have the search part done, and also the "highlighted" part done (using Regex). However, I want to be able to return a short snippet of text, which include the search phrase (a few words before the search phrase, a few after). Something like: Page Title [as a link] ... yada yada yada search phrase yada yada yada...

  • Example: Controlling randomizer using code contracts

    - by DigiMortal
One cool addition to Visual Studio 2010 is support for code contracts. Code contracts make sure that all conditions under what method is supposed to run correctly are met. Those who are familiar with unit tests will find code contracts easy to use. In this posting I will show you simple example about static contract checking (example solution is included). To try out code contracts you need at least Visual Studio 2010 Standard Edition. Also you need code contracts package. You can download package from DevLabs Code Contracts page. NB! Speakers, you can use the example solution in your presentations as long as you mention me and this blog in your sessions. Solution has readme.txt file that gives you steps to go through when presenting solution in sessions. This blog posting is companion posting for Visual Studio solution referred below. As an example let’s look at the following class. public class Randomizer {     public static int GetRandomFromRange(int min, int max)     {         var rnd = new Random();         return rnd.Next(min, max);     }       public static int GetRandomFromRangeContracted(int min, int max)     {         Contract.Requires(min < max, "Min must be less than max");           var rnd = new Random();         return rnd.Next(min, max);     } } GetRandomFromRange() method returns results without any checking. GetRandomFromRangeContracted() uses one code contract that makes sure that minimum value is less than maximum value. Now let’s run the following code. class Program {     static void Main(string[] args)     {         var random1 = Randomizer.GetRandomFromRange(0, 9);         Console.WriteLine("Random 1: " + random1);           var random2 = Randomizer.GetRandomFromRange(1, 1);         Console.WriteLine("Random 2: " + random2);           var random3 = Randomizer.GetRandomFromRangeContracted(5, 5);         Console.WriteLine("Random 3: " + random3);           Console.WriteLine(" ");         Console.WriteLine("Press any key to exit ...");         Console.ReadKey();     } } As we have not turned on support for code contracts the code runs without any problems and we get no warnings by Visual Studio that something is wrong. Now let’s turn on static checking for code contracts. As you can see then code still compiles without any errors but Visual Studio warns you about possible problems with contracts. Click on image to see it at original size.  When we open Error list and run our application we get the following output to errors list. Note that these messages are not shown immediately. There is little delay between application starting and appearance of these messages. So wait couple of seconds before going out of your mind. Click on image to see it at original size.  If you look at these warnings you can see that warnings show you illegal calls and also contracts against what they are going. Third warning points to GetRandomFromRange() method and shows that there should be also problem that can be detected by contract. Download Code Contracts example VS2010 solution | 30KB

  • Question About mk-table-checksum Results

    - by stevenmusumeche
Hello, I have 1 master and 2 slaves. I am using MySQL 5.1.42 on all servers. I am attempting to use mk-table-checksum to verify that their data is in sync, but I am getting unexpected results on one of the slaves. First, I generate the checksums on the master like this: mk-table-checksum h=localhost --databases MYDB --tables {$table_list} --replicate=MYDB.mk_checksum --chunk-size=10M My understanding is that this runs the checksum queries on the master which then propagate via normal replication to the slaves. So, no locking is needed because the slaves will be at the same logical point in time when they run the checksum queries on themselves. Is this correct? Next, to verify that the checksums match, I run this on the master: mk-table-checksum --databases MYDB --replicate=IRC.mk_checksum --replicate-check 1 h=localhost,u=maatkit,p=xxxx If there are any differences, I repair the slaves like this: mk-table-sync --execute --verbose --replicate IRC.mk_checksum h=localhost,u=maatkit,p=xxxx After doing all of this, I repaired both slaves with mk-table-sync. However, everytime I run this sequence (after everything has already been repaired), one slave is perfectly in sync but one slave always has a few tables out of sync. I am 99.999% sure that the data on the slaves matches, since I repaired everything and the tables were not even updated on the master between runs of the checksum script. What would cause a few tables to always show out of sync on only one of the slaves? I am stuck. Here is the output: Differences on h=x.x.x.x,p=...,u=maatkit DB TBL CHUNK CNT_DIFF CRC_DIFF BOUNDARIES IRC product 10 0 1 product_id = 147377 AND product_id < 162085 IRC post_order_survey 0 0 1 1=1 IRC mk_heartbeat 0 0 1 1=1 IRC mailing_list 0 0 1 1=1 IRC honey_pot_log 0 0 1 1=1 IRC product 12 0 1 product_id = 176793 AND product_id < 191501 IRC product 18 0 1 product_id = 265041 IRC orders 26 0 1 order_id = 694472 IRC orders_product 6 0 1 op_id = 935375

  • Memory Pressure Protection Feature for TCP Stack - Provided by Microsoft Security Update KB967723

    - by Angry_IT_Guru
We've been having a lot of funky issues with some of our web based applications that allow clients to submit lot of image files to our servers. Lots of ports are used in the process. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS09-048.mspx - released in Sept-2009. support.microsoft.com/kb/974288 - Memory Pressure Protection description. Evidently, after applying KB967723, our clients receive funky error messages as if connections cannot be made to the server or connections have been closed. There doesn't appear to be a pattern and sometimes it works and other times is doesn't. Typically we've noticed it when server is under load. I'm curious what others think about this MPP and any issues that you may have experienced from it. I understand its purpose, but I think it may have broken a lot of apps in the process. It doesn't look like Microsoft made this "feature" public to everyone.
