    I am actually trying to make an appointment from an excel spreadsheet. I have all the information of the appointment, like subject, body, start and end dates, I actually can create an appointment but only with my personal calendar in outlook. How do I copy/move/create an appointment in a shared calendar in a sharepoint server? If your are interested, here is the context: I'm working on outlook 2003 VSTO addin.The installer for this addin creates few registry entries either in HKCU or HKLM depending on "Single User" Or "All User" installation. We are planning not to use "All User" installation since the addins installed for all users does not show up in COM AddIns list in outlook.The alternate approach is to use active set to install for single user.

  • Preventing 'Reply-All' to Exchange Distribution Groups

    This is another question in a short series regarding a challenging Exchange project my co-workers have been asked to implement. (I'm helping even though I'm primarily a Unix guy because I volunteered to learn powershell and implement as much of the project in code as I could.) Background: We have been asked to create many distribution groups, say about 500+. These groups will contain two types of members. (Apologies if I get these terms wrong.) One type will be internal AD users, and the other type will be external users that I create Mail Contact entries for. We have been asked to make it so that a "Reply All" is not possible to any messages sent to these groups. I don't believe that is 100% possible to enforce for the following reasons. My question is - is my following reasoning sound? If not, please feel free to educate me on if / how things can properly be implemeneted. Thanks! My reasoning on why it's impossible to prevent 100% of potential reply-all actions: An interal AD user could put the DL in their To: field. They then click the '+' to expand the group. The group contains two external mail contacts. The message is sent to everyone, including those external contacts. External user #1 decides to reply-all, and his mail goes to, at least, external user #2, which wouldn't even involve our Exchange mail relays. An internal AD user could place the DL in their Outlook To: field, then click the '+' button to expand the DL. They then fire off an email to everyone that was in the group. (But the individual addresses are listed in the 'To:' field.) Because we now have a message sent to multiple recipients in the To: field, the addresses have been "exposed", and anyone is free to reply-all, and the messages just get sent to everyone in the To: field. Even if we try to set a Reply-To: field for all of these DLs, external mail clients are not obligated to abide by it, or force users to abide by it. Are my two points above valid? (I admit, they are somewhat similar.) Am I correct to tell our leadership "It is not possible to prevent 100% of the cases where someone will want to Reply-All to these groups UNLESS we train the users sending emails to these groups that the Bcc: field is to be used at all times." I am dying for any insight or parts of the equation I'm not seeing clearly. Thank you!!!

    We run a news server for our engineering teams, which is also linked to the code repositories (so that all engineers can subscribe to any changes in the repos or just the projects they are interested in). On quite a regular basis (several times a day) I (as the sysadmin for that server) receive bounces from innd with the above as the first line. The news server simply rejects these messages and the articles don't get posted. The man page for innd doesn't specify why it rejects these messages, it just says it rejects them. So far I have found out these headers are linked to messages in RTF format (coming from Outlook clients), where normally the formatting information would be stored in a winmail.dat attachment. The clients all use MS Exchange 2010 servers to send their mail (identified above as uk-swa-ex02.aminocom.com) which forwards the message to the news server. Does anybody know what advice I need to give these users to avoid their articles getting bounced? Or can I change the behaviour of innd? Or do I need to filter these headers out before innd processes the articles?

  • How do I read Unicode characters from an MS Access 2007 database through Java?

    In Java, I have written a program that reads a UTF8 text file. The text file contains a SQL query of the SELECT kind. The program then executes the query on the Microsoft Access 2007 database and writes all fields of the first row to a UTF8 text file. The problem I have is when a row is returned that contains unicode characters, such as "?". These characters show up as "?" in the text file. I know that the text files are read and written correctly, because a dummy UTF8 character ("?") is read from the text file containing the SQL query and written to the text file containing the resulting row. The UTF8 character looks correct when the written text file is opened in Notepad, so the reading and writing of the text files are not part of the problem. I also accept workaround suggestions. =) What I want to be able to do is to make a Unicode query (for example one that searches for posts that contain the "?" character) and to have results with Unicode characters receieved and saved correctly.     Since I can't find a solution that works with my config, I lean on you guys to help me out with this. I've installed postfix and dovecot on a CentOS server. Everything's running well. But when I try to send an e-mail from Outlook to tld that is not .com, server returns : Relay access denied.     Hi, I'm trying to build a layout / view like the Entourage/Outlook calendar view, where when I schedule a time block, a new view will popup overlaying the time block. Something like this one except it's daily and not monthly like in the image http://images.appleinsider.com/office-2008-entourage-10.png What is the best way to implement that? Right now I'm using TableLayout to create the time on the 1st column and supposedly overlay to schedule made on the 2nd column. However, things got very messy especially when the minutes go to 15 minutes and there are overlapping schdule. Wonder if using other layout might work better? Thanks, Tee

    What API's / SDK's / software tools are available to export contacts from popular CRM and accounting packages? What I'd like to do is offer an address book in my web application and have a button that says "Upload your contacts from X". The user could then click a few buttons and his contacts would be automagically uploaded from X. A company called Plaxo has a widget that does exactly what I am looking for, BUT: They only support a limited number of data sources (I am most interested in ACT, Salesforce, Outlook, and QuickBooks), and They only support e-mail addresses. I am most interested in street addresses ("123 Main St, Anywhere, CA, 90123")

    I'd like to write a .NET application in F# to automate some of the processing of my e-mails. For example, when an order comes in my program might compute a new htpasswd from the e-mail's contents, upload it to our web server and reply to the customer with login details. How do people do this? I've tried Outlook 2007 automation but it just prompts the user for security and my attempts to get it to stop doing this have failed so I cannot automate anything with it. Is there a .NET-friendly e-mail client I can use more easily? This has been so tedious that I'm seriously considering writing my own .NET-friendly e-mail client...

  • Create slide-in notifications à la Outlook in Windows with .NET

    I am using .NET and am creating a desktop app/service that will display notifications in the corner of my Desktop when certain events are triggered. I don't want to use a regular Message Box b/c that would be too intrusive. The notifications would slide into view and then fade out after a few seconds. I am thinking of something that will act very much like the Outlook alerts that one gets when a new message arrives. The question is: Should I use WPF for this? I've never done anything with WPF but will happily try it if that's best means to the end. Is there a way to accomplish this with regular .NET libraries?

  • How to Integrate SharePoint 2007/2010 and Google Apps?

    Hello All, My (smaller) company has an existing Google Apps Deployment, used for E-Mail / Calendar, etc. I'm looking into a SharePoint setup (2010 most likely). One of the best features is that new events are added to one's Outlook Calendar, e-mails can be sent automatically, etc. Naturally, this works best out-of-the-box with Exchange. I know I can add my own OpenID login system via an OpenID provider for SharePoint and get my users into the system. My question is, can anyone recommend the best way to go about making sure that events automatically find their way into users' calendars and e-mails on the Google Apps system? This would enable us to deploy SharePoint without worrying about migrating our e-mail system to Exchange first (Google Apps is more cost-effective for our needs and I'm required to keep it.) Thanks in advance for any help!

I was aware that this domain was expired ( registered in 2007 until 2011) My question is when I go to view the registration date on this domain, it says 2012 instead of 2007. Why is that when it was clearly registered in 2007? And will this affect seo? I was under the assumption that the domains age would be great for seo, but now I'm not sure.

    The commons WPF applications take some time for loading medium complex views, once the view is loaded it works fine. For example in a Master - Detail view, if the Detail view is very complex and use different DataTemplates take some seconds (2-3 seconds) for load the view. When i open the Outlook application, for instance, it renders complex views and it is relative much more fast. Is there a way for increase the performance of my WPF application? Maybe a way for not loading the template's data every time that change the "master" item, and load it only one time in the app time live? i will appreciate any suggestion.

  • Calling a non-activeX DLL in a VB6 application in Vista/Win7

    I have a VB6 app that utilizes a non-activeX DLL (non-registering). It's declared via the classic Public Declare Function "Function Name" Lib "Library.DLL" syntax. On my dev machine (XP) it works fine but when I deploy to Vista or Win7 I'm constantly greeted with a Run Time Error 48 - File Not Found for the DLL in question. I have tried copying that DLL to every directory I can think of including every environment path on the test machine and the app path too. These are all 32-bit test environments so it's not a SysWow64 issue. Possibly throwing a wrench into the mix is the fact that the application in question is an Outlook COM Addin. I managed to install VB6 on Win7 and was able to run a tiny sample app that utilizes this DLL (outside of the Outlook process) so I know it works PROVIDED the DLL is located in App path. If I call App.Path from my DLL when I run it on the test environment it shows, to no surprise, my installation directory however the DLL is there. I tried turning off UAC. I tried making the App.Path directory permissions open to everyone, still no dice.
