    Hi I keep getting SQL syntax error when i'm running my code in php, however when i remove the variables and do it manually in MYSQL, not a problem. I've tried 2 different versions of query one with (') and other with (") and nothing. Could you please help?   • Is there a theory for "transactional" sequences of failing and no-fail actions?

    My question is about writing transaction-like functions that execute sequences of actions, some of which may fail. It is related to the general C++ principle "destructors can't throw," no-fail property, and maybe also with multi-phase transactions or exception safety. However, I'm thinking about it in language-neutral terms. My concern is with correctly designing error handling in C++ functions that must be reliable. I would like to know what the concepts below are called so that I can learn more about them. I'm sorry that I can't ask the question more directly. Since I don't know this area I have provided an example to explain my question. The question is at the end. Here goes: Consider a sequence of steps or actions executed sequentially, where actions belong to one of two classes: those that always succeed, and those that may fail. In the examples below: S stands for an action that always succeeds (called "no-fail" in some settings). F stands for an action that may fail (for example, it might fail to allocate memory or do I/O that could fail). Consider a sequences of actions (executed sequentially from left to right): S->S->S->S Since each action in the sequence above succeeds, the whole sequence succeeds. On the other hand, the following sequence may fail because the last action may fail: S->S->S->F So, claim: a sequence has the no-fail (S) property if and only if all of its actions are no-fail. Now, I'm interested in action sequences that form "atomic transactions", with "failure atomicity," i.e. where either the whole sequence completes successfully, or there is no effect. I.e. if some action fails, the earlier ones must be rolled back. This requires that any successfully executed actions prior to a failing action must always be able to be rolled back. Consider the sequence: S->S->S->F S<-S<-S In the example above, the first row is the forward path of the transaction, and the second row are inverse actions (executed from right to left) that can be used to roll back if the final top row actions fails. It seems to me that for a transaction to support failure atomicity, the following invariant must hold: Claim: To support failure atomicity (either completion or complete roll-back on failure) all actions preceding the latest failable (F) action on the forward path (marked * in the example below) must have no-fail (S) inverses. The following is an example of a sequence that supports failure atomicity: * S->F->F->F S<-S<-S Further, if we want the transaction to be able to attempt cancellation mid-way through, but still guarantee either full completion or full rollback then we need the following property: Claim: To support failure atomicity and cancellation mid-way through execution, in the face of errors in the inverse (cancellation) path, all actions following the earliest failable (F) inverse on the reverse path (marked *) must be no-fail (S). F->F->F->S->S S<-S<-F<-F * I believe that these two conditions guarantee that an abortable/cancelable transaction will never get "stuck". My questions are: What is the study and theory of these properties called? are my claims correct? and what else is there to know?   • Windows Backup failed with error 0x807800C5

    I setup backup of my Windows 8 laptop with Windows 7 File Recovery (known as Backup and Restore in Windows 7). Backup of files runs successfully. But if I try to create system image, it fails with error 0x807800C5: Error details on the dialog: The mounted backup volume is inaccessible. Error details in the system log: There was a failure in preparing the backup image of one of the volumes in the backup set. I save the backup to a network location, WD MyBookLive.   Edit: I tried some of the steps suggested in the various thread about this issue: Cleaned up the backup location: Removed MediaID.bin in the backup location. Removed folder <ComputerName> from WindowsImageBackup. Restarted backup resulted in the same error. However, the error dialog shows slightly different error message: The specified backup disk cannot be found. Performed System File Check by running sfc /scannow. It showed no errors. Running backup failed nevertheless. I tried searching Google for error code but I've found no solution so far. Update: I submitted technical support request to Microsoft. The first suggestion was to clean boot, but it didn't help. I pointed out that I had tried all the methods from the same problem on MS Answers, and nothing had helped.

Here's the process I followed: I generated my private key with: openssl genrsa -out my.key 2048 I created the CSR with: openssl req -new -key my.key -out my.csr I provided the CSR to our IT department, and they returned a crt - it starts with -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- My ssl.conf has (my.example.com matches the Common name used during the generation of the CSR): <VirtualHost my.example.com:443> SSLEngine On ServerName my.example.com SSLCertificateFile /path/my.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/my.key </VirtualHost> I do not have SSLCertificateChainFile or SSLCACertificate file set. The private key starts with ----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY----- The csr starts with -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST----- I have verified that both: openssl rsa -noout -modulus -in my.key openssl req -noout -modulus -in my.csr produce the same output. I cannot figure out how to verify the crt - trying both x509 and rsa produce an error. Should this process have worked? Can I verify that my.crt matches the key somehow?

  • Windows Task Scheduler broken: "service is not available"

    Problem I'm trying to run Windows Task Scheduler from the start menu (the command is %SystemRoot%\system32\taskschd.msc /s) but as of very recently, I'm getting an error: ![Task Scheduler service is not available. Verify that the service is running.][1] I made some screenshots but I can't embed them unfortunately because I don't have enough reputation points yet: http://i.imgur.com/7rPXf.png and Mmddy.png and wonnF.png The window then opens as usual except no tasks are displayed and the error "Reading Data Failed" is shown on a few of the panels. ![second screenshot][2] Possible Causes ran rpccfg -a 1 and netsh rpc add 127.0.0.1 changed PC name twice while computer was still loading installed and used DeltaCopy installed Adobe AIR installed Warsow I can't think of any other system changes I've made. Things Tried ran rpccfg with the parameter to reset to defaults ran netsh with the parameter to reset to defaults uninstalled DeltaCopy forced the service to restart. The service and its dependencies appear started and looked normal before and after connecting to "another computer" from inside the program and entering credentials for the current machine. This said access denied yesterday but today it says "Connecting as another user is only supported when connecting to a computer running Windows Vista™ or later." and partially works but doesn't show my tasks. ![third screenshot][3] but I am on Vista! Please help!

  • System State Backups using NTbackup fail with error 0x800423f4 (relating to volume shadow copy)

    We have a Windows Server 2003 R2 running Service Pack 2. It is a domain controller (Global Catalog) and our main internal DNS server. We run a System State backup of the machine to back up Active Directory information and save the backup to a different server. This server has a single drive (C:), and we do have Shadow Copies enabled for the volume (which are completing successfully). The System State Backup is now failing with the following listed in the backup logs: Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1. "Event Log Writer" has reported an error 0x800423f4. This is part of System State. The backup cannot continue. Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:800423f4 Aborting Backup. The operation did not successfully complete. When doing a vssadmin list writers, we sometimes get the following reported for the Event Log Writer (other times it says that it is in the state of "[1] Stable" with "No error"): Writer name: 'Event Log Writer' Writer Id: {eee8c692-67ed-4250-8d86-390603070d00} Writer Instance Id: {c7194e96-868a-49e5-ba99-89b61977753c} State: [8] Failed Last error: Retryable error We have tried disabling the event log service via the registry, rebooting, deleting the event log files from the drive, then re-enabling the service via the registry and rebooting, but this didn't seem to solve the issue. We also get an error message when in the event viewer when trying to open the log for the "File Replication Service" of "Unable to complete the operation on 'File Replication Service'. The security descriptor structure is invalid." I have searched the error via Google and tried a number of different things, but nothing has seemed to help. Any suggestions on what we might try to get the Event Log Writer to behave would be greatly appreciated!

  • fail2ban Error Gentoo

    Hi All I've recently setup a new VPS running Gentoo (My first time using the distro so please forgive me is this is a really easy one) and as I've done with other servers installed fail2ban. Setting it up to block the host via iptables, on too many unsuccessful logins with ssh. However I'm getting a strange error that I can't quite solve. OS: Windows server 2012 IIS Version: 8 Please share your thoughts.

  • 502 Bad Gateway error after failed requests using Passenger

    I've got a staging server running nginx 1.0.5 using Rails 3.1 under Passenger 3.0.9. The problem is that a request sent just after one where there's an application error return 502 Bad Gateway. To test it I've set up a simple controller with an action that just raise a dummy exception. One request will show the Rails error message and the next one will show nginx 502 Bad Gateway error, then it goes back to the Rails application error, etc. While investigating this problem I've found out that load testing the application (which increase the number of application processes) make that issue disapear. That is until the extra processes are shutdown, then it reappear. I've tried setting the passenger_min_instances option, but doing so doesn't change anything and in this case each time an application error happen one instance is killed while after load testing all instances are kept alive. P.S.: Some people on my team told me that they've seen the 502 error even when there's no application error but I've not been able to reproduce that. Update: Just found out how to display the responses status codes using ab and most of them are 502!

    I have a thinkpad t61 with a UPEK fingerprint reader. I'm running ubuntu 9.10, with fprint installed. Everything works fine (I am able to swipe my fingerprint to authenticate any permission dialogues or "sudo" prompts successfully) except for actually logging onto my laptop when I boot up or end my session. I receive an error below the gnome login that says "Could not locate any suitable fingerprints matched to available hardware."   • Google Drive terminates without error on startup

    I've used Google Drive for awhile now, but it won't start up after installing on my latest system re-build. I'm still using the same OS, hardware, and basic software load (antivirus, firewall, etc.) that I have for years during which I had not previously had problems with Drive. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Google Drive Version: 1.12.5329.1887 Now, whenever I try to run Google Drive, it just spawns two instances of the executable which die shortly after. No error messages are posted to the desktop, and nothing indicating any problem is written to the Event Log. After some research, I've yet to find anyone having the same problem who's found an answer. I did find out how to run Google Drive in diagnostic mode, using the --vv parameter at the command line.     Until yesterday evening, I was able to connect to my server from my local machine. Now, I get the following error: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. (provider: SSL Provider, error: 0 - The wait operation timed out.) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) Note, I can log on to the actual server with no problem. Yesterday, I installed IIS on my machine and set up a site using my IP address - don't know if this has anything to do.   • Random HTTP 413 error on apach2/php/joomla site

    I have a Joomla site, and every once in a while when I submit something via a form, I get a HTTP 413 error: Request Entity Too Large The requested resource /index.php does not allow request data with POST requests, or the amount of data provided in the request exceeds the capacity limit. In the error.log file I get: Invalid Content-Length, referer: [site]/index.php It doesn't seem this has anything to do with the actual size of the request, for the following reasons: a) I tinkered with the configuration of both Apache, and PHP. In Apache I tried increasing LimitRequestBody, and in PHP post_max_size, max_input_vars, memory_limit, and even upload_max_filesize. Every value is far beyond what is sent in a typical request that generates an error. b) The error pops up quite randomly, and often just hitting refresh allows me to get through. c) I checked the request in Fiddler to make sure everything is right with the content-length stated in the header, and the content of the request itself. Everything appears to be in order. A curious thing is that when I resent the exact same request via Fiddler, I never got the error. It seems I can only recreate it through a browser. So I'm at my wit's end here. I don't even know where to look for the problem anymore. I don't know if it's Apache or PHP (though I can't find anything in PHP error logs, so maybe that means Apache is the more likely culprit?), or PHP in general, or my Joomla site in particular (my bets were on Joomla until a recreated the error on a test script, with a very basic post form, though it does pop up much more often on the Joomla site). If anyone can give any advice on where to even begin with this, I'll be very grateful!

    I get the error "Not implemented". I want to compress a file using 7-Zip via stdin then take the data via stdout and do more conversions with my application.   • Why is search functionality not working on this page?

    we deliver micro-site content for our client. Our content is injected into a wrapper that is supplied by another developer. To deliver our content we host the wrapper as well as the content. The user can access this at http://fundcentre.newireland.ie/ (try a search for 'bloxham') For the other content that is not ours, the other developer hosts a similar (though slightly different) wrapper and delivers the content. the user accesses this here: http://www.newireland.ie/ (try a search for 'bloxham') The wrapper contains a search box, which does not work for us but it works for the other developer. I took a look at the network traffic with FireBug but it appears that when I do the search from the wrapper that we're hosting, I'm getting a "407 Proxy Access Denied" error. My guess is their proxy has a problem with the fact that the search is being conducted from a page hosted outside the scope of their proxy. It was also suggested that there were javascript errors on the page that were preventing the search from executing but I can't see any. Also, I don't think I'd get as far as the proxy error if that was the case. I don't really understand this stuff too well though, so could somebody with a bit more experience please take a look and maybe shed some light on this for me? Thanks.

  • SSH error: "Corrupted MAC on input" or "Bad packet length"

    I have 3 boxes set up as shown: The DFW box can communicate to the SFO / internet just fine, and I send files AUS - DFW. However, every time I trying transferring DFW - AUS it fails over SSH (ssh client, rsync, scp, sftp, etc) with the following error: Corrupted MAC on input. Disconnecting: Packet corrupt Occasionally I'll get a different error: Bad packet length 2097180. Disconnecting: Packet corrupt I've restarted the DFW box, as well as replaced the network cable. I'm not sure what else might be causing problems. Right now to get files from DFW I have to use DFW - SFO - AUS which is not optimal.

  • error while running ruby application at system startup in ubuntu

    I am on Ubuntu 12.04 machine. Have a script file which runs when entered manually in terminal gnome-terminal -e /home/precise/Desktop/cartodb/script.sh The content of script file is cd /home/ubuntupc/Desktop/cartodb20/ sh /home/ubuntupc/.rvm/scripts/rvm bundle exec foreman start -p 3000 So what i tried to do is to run this script at every system start up. So on Startup Applications command: gnome-terminal -e /home/precise/Desktop/cartodb/script.sh On terminal Edit - Profile Preferences - Title and Command Checked the "Run command as a login shell" But this seems to be not working.     I get this error with this description. Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PRIMEOUTPUTFAILED. The PrimeOutput method on component "OLE DB Source" (1) returned error code 0xC02020C4. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing.
