  • Explanation of this SQL sanitization code

    - by Derek
    I got this from for a login form tutorial: function clean($str) { $str = @trim($str); if(get_magic_quotes_gpc()) { $str = stripslashes($str); } return mysql_real_escape_string($str); } Could some one explain exactly what this does? I know that the 'clean' var is called up afterwards to sanitize the fields; I.e. $email = clean($_POST['email']);

  • JSP/Servlet CRUD form with special input field based on join table relationship

    - by user1701467
There's database with a bunch of tables that are joined with join tables. E.g. Members and Division are joined with MembersDivisions table. JSP/Servlet login functionality has been developed, but now the CRUD functionality needs to be implemented and I was unable to find any tutorials about it, especially involving the join table(when creating new division you can add members to it, or add more to the existing one). Maybe someone could, theoretically, explain how to do the Division part of the CRUD web form?

  • Bitwise Operations -- Arithmetic Operations..

    - by RBA
Hi, Can you please explain the below lines, with some good examples. A left arithmetic shift by n is equivalent to multiplying by 2n (provided the value does not overflow), while a right arithmetic shift by n of a two's complement value is equivalent to dividing by 2n(2 to the power n) and rounding toward negative infinity. If the binary number is treated as ones' complement, then the same right-shift operation results in division by 2n and rounding toward zero. Thankx..

  • svn server synchronise automatically

    - by zapping
I have a svn server on our lan locally its on windows. The developers use and check in/out from that. Just to be on the safer side we have took up a server from rackspace a linux one. Is it possible to do an automatic weekly synchronise from the local svn server to the remote one. The remote one will be mainly used as a remote backup but just in case if somebody wants to access then they can do as there is no static or external IP for our lan.

  • How can I build multiple processes with TBB?

    - by Jackie
Now I plan to parallelize my sequential solver. I hope I could run several copies of my solver(maybe with different parameters) in parallel simultaneously on a multi-core computer. can I do this with TBB? The reason I ask this question is that the book says: do not introduce anything in your code that will not allow single-thread execution. Any experts can explain this issue? Thanks.

  • Algorithm for max integer in an array of integers

    - by gagneet
Explain which algorithm you would use to implement a function that takes an array of integers and returns the maximum integer in the collection, assuming that the length of the array is less than 1000. Would you use Bubble Sort or Merge Sort and Why? Also, what happens to the above algorithm choice, if the array length is greater than 1000?

  • TeX on iPad compatible with Apple's policy?

    - by Yuji
Hi, As a nerd, I think it would be nice to have a TeX editor on the iPad. But TeX is a Turing-complete language, and it is arguably a general-purpose compiler/interpreter. Does that make it unacceptable to the App Store? Furthermore, if somebody ports TeX compiler to javascript and runs inside WebKit, does it make acceptable to the App Store? FYI, here's the section of the developer's agreement: 3.3.2 An Application may not itself install or launch other executable code by any means, including without limitation through the use of a plug-in architecture, calling other frameworks, other APIs or otherwise. No interpreted code may be downloaded and used in an Application except for code that is interpreted and run by Apple's Published APIs and builtin interpreter(s).
