• Upgrading PHP on MacOSX without config_vars.mk ?

  Hi everyone, I want to upgrade my php version running on MAMP to 5.3. I've copied the ./configure statement from phpinfo() and downloaded the 5.3 branch source i wish to compile. However, when i try to compile it i get an error about a missing config_vars.mk file from apxs. How can i solve this issue if i do not have the config_vars.mk? can one be deprecated? can i copy the one from the stock apache that comes installed on OS X (SL)? What will happen if i remove --with-apxs from the configure line? Thanks in advance for any help. It is greatly appreciated. Ken.

  In college I'm behind a proxy. When I try to visit one of my local Apache virtual hosts behind the proxy, then my college DNS attempts to resolve the host, thus bypassing my local host file. In the advanced setting for proxies you seem to be able to enter values into "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains". I added the last 2 to the end - "*.local, 169.254/16, *.dev, *.sb". But it doesn't work. Is there a solution?

• Access virtualhosts over LAN (Also in xpmode (Virtual PC))

  Hi, I am running Wamp on my computer (the host). I have set up several virtualhosts in apache and they are working fine when I access them from the same computer (host). I have installed Windows XPMode on my computer (which is running windows 7). XPMode (which uses Virtual PC) is set up to use a NAT network. The network in XPMode is working fine, and I can access the host PC via the IP address 192.168.1.5, just as I would if I was using any physical computer on the same network. I can view all the web pages at 192.168.1.5 and it's subdirectories. However, I cannot access any of the subdomains that are configured in the virtualhosts of the host computer. How can I access the subdomains? I don't think that the fact that I am using XPMode and am using a virtualized OS has anything to do with it, but I thought that it was worth mentioning.

  I have a wildcard SSL certificate from GoDaddy that has three files: wildcard.crt gd_bundle.crt wildcard.key In setting up mod_gnutls to be used with Apache, I can get the site to come up, but it throws a warning that the SSL certificate has not been validated by a CA. When I use mod_ssl, I can stipulate a SSLCertificateChainFile directive and point it at the bd_bundle.crt file. I do not see how to do this with mod_gnutls. Any help is appreciated. I also know that mod_ssl supports SNI, so if there is not an easy answer, I will just try that. Thanks, QWade

  Hello. I'm trying to set up video surveillance system using ip cameras and zonealarm on Arch Linux. I set up fixed ip address, I've managed to get streams from cameras, etc. However, after restart of the machine, I can not start apache again. I checked configuration of rc.conf, and saw that static ip configuration has been deleted, and also secondary nameserver in resolv.conf. Tried to re-write these with correct parameters, but now with no effect.   Situation: we plan on using PHP's GnuPG extension to encrypt/decrypt files. Currently we've setup some test cases, using keys generated with GPG. The generated files reside in: /Users/username/.gnupg/ I am able to get keyinfo for the key I want to use to encrypt/decrypt, but when I attempt to use addencryptkey, I get: (E_WARNING: 2): gnupg::addencryptkey() [gnupg.addencryptkey]: get_key failed I think this is due to the permissions on the ~/.gnupg folder & enclosed files. The files are owned by me - username, but apache runs as www. A few days ago I did have this working, but it seems each time I use GPG Keychain Access to import / export a key, the folder's permissions are changed. Question: What are the exact permissions required to allow PHP's GnuPG to add encrypt & decrypt keys?

  I have a few folders with hundreds of html files. The file name should have been .htm but it is .asp.htm and it does not run. It is plain html file and there is no asp code. So, I tried to rename the files using rename command. I tried like this rename *.asp.htm *.htm But it does not work. After trying a few other combinations I believe rename or ren command can't change the double dot extension. The only change the last extension. So, if I try rename *.asp.htm *.asp.htm I thought nothing would be changed, but, the file name changes from file.asp.htm to file.asp.asp.htm I hope someone would help me with this. Another thing is, can I force apache to run files with .asp.htm extension? Currently it can't run those files. Thanks in advance.

  I want to make an existing domain a "CDN" domain that serves all images, CSS and JS files (i.e. static files). However that domain was parked earlier and some application on that domain has set cookies. As far as I can observe, I'd say that with cookies the "Expires" header doesn't seem to have much effect with some browsers (Including Firefox). The browsers still request the file, even if they shouldn't do so for the next month. It would be possible to do some mod_rewrite tricks to detect if there are any cookies and then call a PHP file to remove the cookies and serve the static file so that for the next call there aren't any cookies left, but maybe you can give me a simpler method: Is there a "Apache .htaccess only" way of removing all existing cookies?

  I'm working on a website and have WAMP setup for local testing. Usually I set up virtual hosts using httpd-vhosts + the hosts file without a hitch. All of a sudden, my virtual hosts are no longer working. I know that it's pointing to Apache because I get a '403 Forbidden' error, but that's about it. All of my previously working virtual hosts no longer work as well.   I don't have access to the httpd.conf file on this shared host, but I wanted to see which modules are enabled/installed. Is there a (easy) way to find out without access to the httpd.conf file? For example, with PHP you can run a file that has phpinfo() in it to get the PHP info. Anything similar? The web server is lighttpd, which I understand is mostly compatible with apache httpd. (And yes, I am going to email the hosting support, but it sure would be nice to know for the future)

  Whoa, acronyms :) So according to this question you can have multiple SSL subdomains on one IP address as long as your server supports TLS (which Apache 2.2x does). Another answer to that question points out that the client browser must have SNI support to work, which IE doesn't have on Windows XP. So, what happens to people with that browser is a warning message saying that the SSL cert doesn't match the domain. Can one resolve this issue for those client browsers without SNI support? Does a wildcard (for subdomains) do the trick? Are there other (cheaper) options?

  I have setup hmailserver on a windows xp pro computer and everything is working great when it comes to getting it to send and receive email. Now here is where my problem comes in... I have setup roundcube using uniserver and everything works great internally. Now, what I am trying to do is to be able to access roundcube from the internet outside of the local network. I have opened up ports 80, 443, and the mysql port yet I am still unable to access this from outside of the network. The error message that I am getting is as followed: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /webmail/ on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I believe something needs to be edited in the apache config file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping I dont need to run this on windows server but I'm kinda losing hope and thinking I will need to because I need IIS.

  So, when I want to link my users to a specific page I always use (in php): "http://" . $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] . "/page.php", to be sure that the link points to the page they're currently surfing (and not one of the server aliases). But with IDN names, HTTP_HOST is set to "xn--hemmabst-5za.net" (for example) - which of course works but doesn't look very nice. Is there a way to have HTTP_HOST set to the correct IDN name in these cases (in this case - "hemmabäst.net")? I rather do it in Apache before it comes to PHP, because otherwise I'd have to replace all my usage of $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"]. Any ideas?

  When I go to localhost/~admin/ or 127.0.0.1/~admin/ my browser says: "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /~admin/ on this server." How do I change this?!??!?! It's driving me nuts! when I go to localhost or 127.0.0.1/ my browser says: "It Works!". I'm running mac osx 10.8. I created aliases in my .bash_profile file so that I can start, restart and stop Apache quickly: alias startApache="sudo apachectl start" alias stopApache="sudo apachectl stop" alias restartApache="sudo apachectl restart" In my /etc/apache2/httpd.conf file I turned on php5: LoadModule php5_module libexec/apache2/libphp5.so I also made sure to change the permissions for my admin.conf file with this command in terminal: sudo chmod 644 username.conf This is my /etc/apache2/users/admin.conf: <Directory "/Users/admin/Sites/"> Options Indexes MultiViews AllowOverride All Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory>
