  • How useful is hard drive encryption?

    So, let's say you have a notebook, and you encrypt the entire hard drive. Whenever you boot it's gonna ask for a password, meaning nobody can access your data without the password. On the other hand, what if your notebook got stolen whilst it was in sleep mode? Is there any protection that the encryption can offer? Thanks

    I have googled this extensively but have not been able to find a good answer. Does anyone know if ' Windows Server 2003 IAS RADIUS' will query a 'Windows Server 2012 AD DS' and be able to return the attributes correctly? This is just standard AD stuff (Remote dial-in for VPN authentication). I am hypothesizing that it will work OK, but I wanted to see if anyone had any first hand knowledge. Thanks.

I entered the following: Dynamic DNS [X] Diensteanbieter (DynDNS.org) Domänenname mysupersecrethost.dyndns.org (as specified in "My Host" section Konto / E-mail myaccountname Passwort mysupersecretpassword The update does not work anymore, so that my IP is not correct.     In my web application I need to extract the real ip address for clients behind proxy, after searching I found that the possible method to do that is to read the content of "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header , I am using java servlet and the headers of the incoming request doesn't contain "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header , So why the header doesn't included in the request? I am using java 1.7 , tomcat v7 , proxy server :TMG and configured to use "X_FORWARDED_FOR" header . Please advice. Thanks in advance.

In production the configuration is not using mod_jk but mod_proxy_ajp.     I know this sounds weird, but apparently one of my columns is locked. select * from table where type_id = 1 and updated_at < '2010-03-14' limit 1; select * from table where type_id = 3 and updated_at < '2010-03-14' limit 10; the first one would not finish running, while the second one completes smoothly. the only difference is the type_id Thanks in advance for your help - i have an urgent data job to finish, and this problem is driving me crazy

    Hi, I'm just getting started with CentOS and running into a strange issue with vsftp. When I FTP in, then change directory to /var I don't get a folder list. Is there something about CentOS or vsftp in particular that I may be missing that causes this behavior? The permissions on the folder are like others that I am able to see while connected via FTP.     I have MSMQ installed on two Windows XP computers. Can I configure them to pass messages back and forth, or do I need an MSMQ server in the middle? If I need an MSMQ server, does the normal MSMQ with Win2003 able to act as that? And then, how do I connect my Windows XP to that Windows 2003 server?   • Is there an AUTOMATED way to pin items to the taskbar in a windows 2008 TS environment?

    We have a Windows 2008 (R2) Terminal Server environment and would like to find a way to automate the addition (Pinning) of programs to the Windows taskbar for our users. My first thought was to do this from a Group Policy, but haven't been able to find a setting for this. I've heard you can 'probably' do it via a script, but haven't seen any examples yet (I'm not a programmer, but have worked with batch scripts before). Please advice. Thanks!

    We have 2 HP Lefthand SAN servers in separate data rooms. Last week each of the SANs had 1 hard disk fail. They were in different positions on the SANs. Both data rooms are very well protected from power issues with UPS. Any ideas of what could have influenced this? Thanks, Carl
