    i install drRacket in ubuntu. downloaded the source file from http://pre.racket-lang.org/installers/ and typed sudo ./racket-5.2.1-bin-i386-linux-ubuntu-karmic.sh after making it exe file so the file is in the usr/racket/bin/drracket and i want to run it from command line without going to its directory i cant make the drracket to run the .rkt files by the "open with" how can i make this two things ???

I was wondering how Python is able to do this? It's generally interpreted, so how does some of the code get compiled while another is interpreted - and in a different language? Why not just compile the whole thing?

Supposedly there are less than 1000 clients. Would there be any security threat to use only password (UUID v4 strings) to authenticate user?     I try to suspend my server using dbus and UPower. The server runs Ubuntu LucidLynx 64bit. While everything works fine if I am sitting directly at the machine, it won't work via ssh. If I connect to the server via ssh and try to suspend the machine using dbus and upower, it gives back dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.UPower.GeneralError: not authorized Could anyone please tell me how to configure dbus in order to allow ssh-users to suspend the machine?

  • Why does Compiz keeps crashing?

    I am running Ubunutu 14.04 x86_64. Compiz keep crashing frequently and I can't work on my laptop. If I have media running or so I can still hear the audio and its just Compiz that is crashing as I see in some crash logs. I tried to reset both Compiz and Unity but still it is not working.     Whenever a menu item or toolbar button is clicked, it would be handy if NetBeans were to tell you 'hey, did you know, you can actually do this via the following keyboard shortcut', if a keyboard shortcut exists for the invoked action. After all, ultimately, a lot of developers would like to do everything with the keyboard and a key promoter feature of this kind is a helpful tool in learning the keyboard shortcuts related to the menu items and toolbar buttons you're clicking with your mouse. Above, you see the balloon message that appears for each menu item and toolbar button that you click and, below, you can see a list of all the actions that have been logged in the Notifications window. That happens automatically when an action is invoked (assuming the plugin described in this blog entry is installed), showing the display name of the action, together with the keyboard shortcut, which is presented as a hyperlink which, when clicked, re-invokes the action (which might not always be relevant, especially for context-sensitive actions, though for others it is quite useful, e.g., reopen the New Project wizard). And here's all the code.   • Wireless card unseen by lspci

    I installed both Ubuntu 8.04 and 10.04. I tried to install the wireless card. although I succeeded in installing the driver using ndiswrapper, it tells me that the hardware is not present. When I use lspci, it doesn't list it. I have this laptop model and I think it should have the same entry about the wireless card here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1810193 Could the problem be other than hardware malfunction?

  • My home folder disappeared after using Chroot/debootstrap. Can it be recovered?

    I was following the instructions from http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOn64bit but stopped after cloning wine. Afterwards I closed the terminal and terminated the process when asked. Ubuntu threw up an error report and when I tried to cd to ~/Downloads it was gone, along with all the other directories. So I tried restarting Ubuntu, whereupon I was greeted with the default desktop and home directory. Can I recover my home folder or has it been deleted?
