    I'm using jQuery UI Autocomplete plug-in. I'm giving it an URL to make an ajax call and retrieve data. I want to pass optional data parameters but not as part of URL. In the code they make a getJSON call and pass in 'request' parameter(which is an optional data parameter), however I don't see a way to get at this request parameter. this.source = function( request, response ) { $.getJSON( url, request, response ); };

  • URL flow when writing a wizard in PHP

    Hello, I am writing a basic wizard for my web site. It will have 4 steps, and each needs to have its own URL. Each step must first validate a form before moving on. If the form for a given step fails to validate, I don't want the URL to change. But if it passes, I do want it to move on. What is the preferred way to write this? Using javascript alone to validate is not secure enough. I have 2 ideas so far but I don't love either: 1) Post the form to the same script and use a header() redirect to the next step if it passes. 2) Send an ajax post to validate and then use location.href to send user to the next step if it passes. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks, Brian

  • MeioUpload and phpThumb() does not exist error

    I am currently using CakePHP v2.2.1 and MeioUpload 4.0 along with phpThumb() to try and generate image uploads and thumbnails for those images. If i set my $actAs = array() without the thumbsizes property everything is uploaded well, but when I add the following: 'thumbsizes' => array( 'small' => array('width' => 165, 'height' => 115), 'medium' => array('width' => 800, 'height' => 600) ), to generate thumbnails I get an error stating the following: "E:/xampp/htdocs/site/vendors/phpthumb/img/posts/image-name.jpg" does not exist I have tried several different methods of fixing this from around the web and nothing seems to work. I am new to cakephp so this may be an easy fix and I am just not connecting the dots to find the solution. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    I'm trying to make a program that uploads a image to a webserver that accepts multipart file-uploads. More specificly i want to make a http POST request to http://iqs.me that sends a file in the variable "pic". I've made a lot of tries but i don't know if i've even been close. The hardest part seems to be to get a HttpURLConnection to make a request of the type POST. The response i get looks like it makes a GET.   • Sending html data via $post fails

    I am using the code below which is fine but when I use the code below that in an attempt to send an html fragment to a processing page to save it as a file but I get nothing. I have tried using ajax with processData set to false ads dataTypes of html, text and xml but nothing works. I can't find anything on this so I guess I must be missing something fairly trivial but I've been at it for 3 hours now.     I need to write a new application, and have no experience with any new technology, framework, or language. Here are the requirements: HTML front end (best if it's cross-browser friendly) Web deployable, but also ideally want to be able to install as standalone on a desktop SQL Server database Ideally, would like to use a good (and easy) AJAX toolkit with widgets Ideally, would like to be able to write in ASP.Net but later (or concurrently) also write in Java. This is a big concern, as I would like to not have to rewrite the whole thing. Is there a toolkit I can use that makes this cross-platform requirement easier?     Hello, I'm using JQuery to call a PHP function that returns a JSON string upon success or throws some exceptions.   • Jquery live not working in IE

    Hi, I have some code that works fine in FF but not in IE. I have read other posts saying that the Jquery live method does not support change events but I am using a click event. Here is my code, it is inside $(document).ready(function(): $("a").live("click", function(e) { alert("link clicked"); //do stuff }); If FF the alert is fired but not in IE. When I use $("a").click it works fine, the problem is that I need to the function to be applied to links that do not exist when the page is first loaded (they will be created via ajax calls at a later stage). Do I have any options here. We are using jquery-1.4.1.min.js. Thanks in advance

    I am using jquery to set a session, i have a php page which gets the values of the person logging. The value in the session array, is then used in another page where, it is stored in a hidden field for database entry.The problem is, the value is not set unless you refresh the page of which beats the purpose of AJAX and Jquery.Again,the session seems to be one session behind.How can I do this without page refresh/ reload?

    I am thinking of designing a web site having multiple related services. For every action of the user in a service there will be some computation going on in each of the other services. I want to display the service in action (chosen by the user) in the middle of the page in enlarged mode and rest of the services as small sized (shrunk) versions around the enlarged mode. The services which are shown in the shrunk version, should actually show what is happening in that service, at run time as if that was the chosen service. A close match to this sort of behavior I know is in Reliance BigTV, where all the small images of all the channels will be going on, and we can choose the one that we want to watch. After choosing that one image will become big and occupy the screen. Please, let me know if I can do some thing like this using css, html, ajax & php.

    hello! i have a store model, this will handle my leaflet and my shoppingcart for my shop. now i d´like to show all items added from an user to his leaflet in the index of store. in the store an user can change the quantity of the choosen items. and now i want to save that the changes of the different quantities in the database with one click on a button "update store". so how could i implement an update over the whole index with one click? i´d like to do this with ajax and most dynamically. somebody has an idea? i render all items into a form so far, but now i have the problem, when i submit this form only the last quantity and item id are included in the params. further i pushed every quantity into an array and i want to submit this also as a param. but i could not. please give me some tips, will be very fine :) mattherick

  • Popup extender "frozen" on code-behind exception.

    Hi, In a C#/ASP.NET project, we're using an ajax modalpopupextender to display a "Processing..." message to the users. We're displaying it using a Javascript call in the code of the ASP.NET page. Then, in the code behind, we're doing some database operation, and hide again the popup using "popup.hide();" The problem is that when an exception occurs in the code behind, the popup is still displayed and the application does not handle errors as per the "customErrors" tag of the web.config. Any idea on how to deal with this kind of issues? Thanks, David

    Hi, I'm uploading a csv/tsv file from a form in GAE, and I try to parse the file with python csv module. Like describe here, uploaded files in GAE are strings. So I treat my uploaded string a file-like object : file = self.request.get('catalog') catalog = csv.reader(StringIO.StringIO(file),dialect=csv.excel_tab) But new lines in my files are not necessarily '\n' (thanks to excel..), and it generated an error : Error: new-line character seen in unquoted field - do you need to open the file in universal-newline mode? Does anyone know how to use StringIO.StringIO to treat strings like files open in universal-newline?

I already did the coding on the MasterPage: public class MyMaster : MasterPage { public void ShowPanel(string pMessage) { labelInside.Text = pMessage; myPanel.visible = true; } } Then I make the calls from child pages: public void ShowPanel(string pMessage) { MyMaster masterPage = this.Master as MyMaster; masterPage.ShowPanel(pMessage); } This "works" ok, but it won't show nothing, since I need the page to be "refreshed" in an "ajax-way" like an UpdatePanel, which I can't use because the Trigger is in another page, right? I really need this to work.. even if you have another completely different way to do this, I would appreciate.

    Hello everyone. I'll cut right to the chase. Right now I am developing a web based application. It has a PHP REST based architecture that serves up XML documents. On many of these documents attributes are hex encoded picture strings. On the client side jQuery AJAX fetches an XML document with a picture in it. I need to display said picture in some <img> tags. However my knowledge on such methods is lacking so here I am asking for help. Goal: JavaScript String variable in hex or base64 HTML displayed image.   • AJAX modalpopupextender pressing enter when cancel is focused doesn't trigger cancel

    Been using the Ajax modalpopupextender. I used a script to set focus on the cancel button when it gets showed on the page but when I press enter (expecting that cancel would've been triggered since it was focused) it went ahead and triggered the event for the OK button (which, unfortunately was a delete event). I've tried using various methods for focusing on the Cancel button and trying to make it work. Anyone know how to make this work?

    i have an uploads folder on my website. What i want to do is restrict users from accessing like i dont want them to go to www.mysite.com/uploads/ and see the files in there and it should show forbidden, but they should be able to download via my website, for example www.mysite.com/downloads.php?id=1 If thats not possible, how can i atleast not show them the directory index on /uploads How is it that file sharing websites does this? An htaccess with deny from all stops php from accessing the file as well Please tell me a solution if you would know, i googled and asked on irc a few days ago about this issue, its pretty confusing to me.

  • Stop 2 identical queries from executing almost simultaneously?

    I have developed an AJAX based game where there is a bug caused (very remote, but in volume it happens at least once per hour) where for some reason two requests get sent to the processing page almost simultaneously (the last one I tracked, the requests were a difference of .0001 ms). There is a check right before the query is executed to make sure that it doesn't get executed twice, but since the difference is so small, the check hasn't finished before the next query gets executed. I'm stumped, how can I prevent this as it is causing serious problems in the game. Just to be more clear, the query is starting a new round in the game, so when it executes twice, it starts 2 rounds at the same time which breaks the game, so I need to be able to stop the script from executing if the previous round isn't over, even if that previous round started .0001 ms ago.

    Hi i just put up a validation function in jScript to validate filename in fileupload control[input type file]. The function seems to work fine in FF and sometimes in ie but never in Chrome. Basically the function tests if File name is atleast 1 char upto 25 characters long.Contains only valid characters,numbers [no spaces] and are of file types in the list.     I want to create an interactive website using aspx and ajax, that there will be an option to create chess game room for example and other players will be able to join. I have 2 Questions: I wonder if you have any idea how can I make that after one player clicks on a button and finish his turn, the other player will be able to do a move. After the first player finish his turn I will change the turn by using the database, but the point is how can I refresh the other player's site so when the other one finish his turn, the turn will come to the second player? When someone creates a room and than close his browser - I need that room to be closed. Shall I use the Session_OnEnd to close the room he opened? Thanks!
