    It seems something tried to delete root c:/ folders on my computer and it did started delete process alphabetical order. Not sure what is cause. any known virus? We have company network edition of antivirus running, and full scan did not found any virus activity. That makes me suspious about someone on company network attempt to delete? can this possible? If it is how do we know from windows server that who accessed my computer over network?

  • xubuntu 12.04 totally refuses to boot after install with wubi on old computer. any tips or suggestions on things i can do to fix this problem?

    so, i downloaded xubuntu 12.04 32-bit (not alt version) from the xubuntu.org website and placed the .zip into a folder named XUBUNTU on my desktop. i then extracted the files to that folder and ran wubi. i selected xubuntu from the drop down and clicked install. i let it do its thing and then chose the option to reboot when prompted. this is when i went to my girlfriends house for the day and left my laptop (dell latitude 120L) to finish the install. i came back home (about 8 hours later) to find my computer on the windows 7 log in screen when i rebooted my computer once more. i booted xubuntu just fine and things seemed to work perfectly. i turned off the pc and went to bed. next morning i booted xubuntu again without problems. i rebooted and went to windows, then next time i tried booting xubuntu in the middle of the splash screen it went black and the cpu light stopped blinking. i force shut down the computer and tried booting again when the same thing happened (instead of going black the splash just froze). i went back to windows and uninstalled and reintalled the os and havent beej able to boot it since. i even tried booting lubuntu with the same problem. please help!

    I use multiple browser many times when I am working with multiple projects simultaneously. Often I use Google Reader to read few feeds. Recently, I faced the following error and this error will not go. I even restarted my computer and rebooted my network. I am confident that my computer does not have viruses or malware, I could not tackle this error. When I opened Google Reader on another browser, it worked fine. Finally, I found the solution and I want share it with all of you. Error We’re sorry… … but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can’t process your request right now. I removed the cookies of Google Reader with the name ‘reader_offline’ as displayed in image below. Once I remove the above mentioned cookie, I could login perfectly fine in Google Reader. I think this message from Google was misleading and inaccurate; however, the solution is easy enough. I just wanted to share this quick tip with everyone who is facing such an issue.   • How to debug a Flex 4 HTTPService request that works on my computer, but not on another?

    I'm building a Ruby on Rails backed Flex 4 app, using Heroku to host the Ruby on Rails part during development. It all works fine when I run the release build on my computer, but when I run the release build on a friends computer, the data from the database doesn't get loaded. Problem is, I can't work out how to debug this because it's the release build, and I've only got Flash Builder 4 on my computer, where it all works fine.     Hi All, Okay, Only a couple weeks ago I had an old 32bit computer, but had to buy a new computer, which happens to be 64bit. I've rewritten the method that sends e-mails asynchonously and it just does not work. And does NOT throw any exceptions either. What gives? I have also tried the Async method code found iin MSDN, and the BlackWasp tutorial code, and MANY others. They're all the same! The only difference here seems to be the fact that I'm now on a 64bit computer. How can I get around this? Google/MSDN has been of zero help. Thanks

    I'm working with my friend on our first Android game. Basic idea is that every frame the whole surface is redrawn (1 large bitmap) which then sprinkled all over with large number of particles which produces effect of soapy bubbles where there's a pool of about 20 bitmaps which randomly gets picked to produce illusion that all bubbles (between 200 - 300) are all different. The math engine is in C (JNI) and currently all drawing is done using android.graphics package very similar (since that was the example I was using) to Lunar Lander. It works but animation is somewhat jerky and I can feel by temperature of my phone that it is very busy. Will we benefit from switching to OpenGL? And as a bonus question: what would be a good way to optimize the drawing mechanism (Lunar Lander like) we have now?

  • Why does installing NVidia 9600GT graphics card, take 1GB of RAM away from Windows?

    Hi, I've changed graphics cards in my PC and now Windows 7 (32bit) is reporting that I have a whole gigabyte less physical RAM in my PC. Why is this? Firstly, the machine has 4GB of physical RAM. The old card was an ATI 2600XT with 256MB and the new card is an NVidia 9600GT with 512MB. With the ATI card windows sees 3326MB. With the NVidia card, windows sees 2558MB. I realise that due to address space restrictions I will not see all 4GB with 32bit windows, but why is there such a massive loss of RAM when simply changing cards (bearing in mind BOTH cards have their own RAM and borrow no main memory like some built on chipsets do). Would using 64 bit windows solve this? Thanks Nick.

    Hi, I am trying to convert text into graphics using c#. My input is character string and output is bitmap with the input text. After lot of search I found some ways to do it, I found some techiques which uses this kind of techinque. For Example While creating Captcha, we have to print the character in the bitmap. But for that I should have the font installed in my windows. I can not perform such operation without installing the font. I have .ttf file with me but I dont want to install it because my work for that font is temporary only. Is there any way where I can extract out the Font's graphical information by providing the Character? I have also found font parser code http://swinglabs.java.sun.com/hudson/job/PDFRenderer%20Weekly%20Build/javadoc/com/sun/pdfview/font/package-summary.html Can anyone please provide me how to develpo similar thing using c#.Net?     I've been a software developer for 20 years. i've been involved in language development and large data warehouse development. I've worked for start-ups that have gone public, and for government contractors, and I've written a published programming book. My knowledge is either self-taught or on-the-job. I've worked with some of the best and brightest, and they taught me well. I'm back in school now, and am weighing my options, deciding between a Computer Science and a business degree. My question is this. What do I gain, at this point in my career, by earning a Computer Science degree? I just don't know if a Computer Science degree, at this point, is a value-add on my resume. Edit: I'm working on completing an undergraduate degree.

  • OpenGL ES 1.1 vs 2.0 for 2D Graphics, with rotated sprites?

    I am having trouble finding information related to which i should choose, OpenGL ES 1.1 or 2.0 for 2D graphics. OpenGL ES 1.1 on Android is a bit limited to my knowledge, and based purely on sprite count the only useful renderer is draw_texture() (as far as i know). However, that does not have rotation and rotation is very important to me. Now with the NDK adding support for OpenGL ES 2.0, i am trying to figure out if there is anything that preforms as well as draw_texture(), but can handle rotation. Anyone have any information on if 2.0 can help me in this area?

  • how does teamviewer find my computer even if my comp. behind of the firewall and firewall isn't conf

    Did you use teamviewer? (comic question i know... Who doesn't use it?) Do you have any idea how does teamviewer make connection even if i am behind the router, firewall, switch and my local firewall..? I'm trying to imagine a connection that is between remote machinge and my computer. Remote machine is sending the packets (and its header (for instance, destination IP, message body)) to me but it only knows my id number(which is given by my local teamviewer application). And this packets are reaching to my computer even if there is a juniper firewall (and also my windows firewall). What kind a message body is recieving by computer? (of course it is not like xml, text, html, excel :) Do you have any idea? PS. Please share your knowledge like you are explaining to beginner level user.

    Hey Guys, So it has been a while since I have done any game programming in C#, but I have had a recent bug to get back into it, and I wanted some opinions on what configuration I should use. I wanted to use C# as that is what I use for work, and have become vary familiar with. I have worked with both DirectX and OpenGL in the past, but mostly in 3D, but now I am interested in writing a 2D game with all vector graphics, something that resembles the look of Geometry Wars or the old Star Wars arcade game. Key points I am interested in: • Ease of use/implementation. • Easy on memory. (I plan on having a lot going on at once) • Looks good, I don't want curve to look pixelated. • Maybe some nice effects like glow or particle.   • Make graphics on left and right side of text change width depending on the amount of text?

    I need to have an H1 tag centered between two graphics on the left and right of the text. The H1 text will be various widths depending on what page you are on. The dot on the left should stay on the left edge of the site and the line should extend until it reaches the edge of the text. Same for the right side. Is there a way to accomplish this by using CSS or even some jquery/javascript? In the attached graphic, if the text was just "WHO YOU ARE" I'd need the bars on the left and right to grow wider to bump up against the edges of the text.

    Whether for work or leisure, many of us spend entirely too much time on the computer everyday.  This puts us at risk of having or aggravating Carpal Tunnel problems, but thanks to Workrave you can help to divert these problems. Workrave helps Carpal Tunnel problems by reminding you to get away from your computer periodically.  Breaking up your computer time with movement can help alleviate many computer and office related health problems.  Workrave helps by reminding you to take short pauses after several minutes of computer use, and longer breaks after continued use.  You can also use it to keep from using the computer for too much You time in a day.  Since you can change the settings to suit you, this can be a great way to make sure you’re getting the breaks you need. Install Workrave on Windows If you’re using Workrave on Windows, download (link below) and install it with the default settings. One installation setting you may wish to change is the startup.  By default Workrave will run automatically when you start your computer; if you don’t want this, you can simply uncheck the box and proceed with the installation. Once setup is finished, you can run Workrave directly from the installer. Or you can open it from your start menu by entering “workrave” in the search box. Install Workrave in Ubuntu If you wish to use it in Ubuntu, you can install it directly from the Ubuntu Software Center.  Click the Applications menu, and select Ubuntu Software Center. Enter “workrave” into the search box in the top right corner of the Software Center, and it will automatically find it.  Click the arrow to proceed to Workrave’s page. This will give you information about Workrave; simply click Install to install Workrave on your system. Enter your password when prompted. Workrave will automatically download and install.   When finished, you can find Workrave in your Applications menu under Universal Access. Using Workrave Workrave by default shows a small counter on your desktop, showing the length of time until your next Micro break (30 second break), Rest break (10 minute break), and max amount of computer usage for the day. When it’s time for a micro break, Workrave will popup a reminder on your desktop. If you continue working, it will disappear at the end of the timer.  If you stop, it will start a micro-break which will freeze most on-screen activities until the timer is over.  You can click Skip or Postpone if you do not want to take a break right then. After an hour of work, Workrave will give you a 10 minute rest break.  During this it will show you some exercises that can help eliminate eyestrain, muscle tension, and other problems from prolonged computer usage.  You can click through the exercises, or can skip or postpone the break if you wish.   Preferences You can change your Workrave preferences by right-clicking on its icon in your system tray and selecting Preferences. Here you can customize the time between your breaks, and the length of your breaks.  You can also change your daily computer usage limit, and can even turn off the postpone and skip buttons on notifications if you want to make sure you follow Workrave and take your rests! From the context menu, you can also choose Statistics.  This gives you an overview of how many breaks, prompts, and more were shown on a given day.  It also shows a total Overdue time, which is the total length of the breaks you skipped or postponed.  You can view your Workrave history as well by simply selecting a date on the calendar.   Additionally, the Activity tab in the Statics pane shows more info about your computer usage, including total mouse movement, mouse button clicks, and keystrokes. Conclusion Whether you’re suffering with Carpal Tunnel or trying to prevent it, Workrave is a great solution to help remind you to get away from your computer periodically and rest.  Of course, since you can simply postpone or skip the prompts, you’ve still got to make an effort to help your own health.  But it does give you a great way to remind yourself to get away from the computer, and especially for geeks, this may be something that we really need!
