  I've a table which has 3 columns: id, a_id and b_id. Suppose rows are like this: 1, a1, b1 2, a1, b2 3, a1, b3 4, a2, b4 5, a2, b5 6, a2, b6 I want to convert it to 1, a1, b1 2, a1, b1 3, a1, b1 4, a2, b4 5, a2, b4 6, a2, b4 So I want to make all the b_id corresponding to a_id same, and equal to the one which is found first. How can I do this? For simplicity, I've removed other columns from table. So please ignore row duplication here.

  I am using SQLite as my db during development, and I want to postpone actually creating a final database until my domains are fully mapped.   Hello A client of mine has had an HD crash an a SQL DB got corrupt : They did not make backups so they have a big problem. When I tried (an ultimate measure) to DBCC-repair I got the following message. Can anybody help me with this ? Server: Msg 8966, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Could not read and latch page (1:872) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed. Server: Msg 8944, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Table error: Object ID 2, index ID 0, page (1:872), row 11. Test (columnOffsets->IsComplex (varColumnNumber) && (ColumnId == COLID_HYDRA_TEXTPTR || ColumnId == COLID_INROW_ROOT || ColumnId == COLID_BACKPTR)) failed. Values are 2 and 5. The repair level on the DBCC statement caused this repair to be bypassed. CHECKTABLE found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in table 'sysindexes' (object ID 2). DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.

  Hi... I've have a table view that consist of item list that depends on the item that were purchased using in app purchasing. My question was how can I reload the tableView when the purchasing was completed/(or when new item was added on my list). The response of the storekit takes time to complete. Are there anyways to tell the app that the purchasing was completed and new item was added on my list so that I can reload my tableView. At this time I reloading my table view by adding [myTableView reloadData] in viewWillAppear method. But what if the user was already viewing the tableView, I can't reload the tableView because the viewWillAppear had passed. thanks...

  Here is my situation. I have model called Account. An account can have one or more contracts. The problem is that i'm dealing with a legacy application and each account's contracts are stored in a different database. Example: Account 1's contract are in account1_db.contracts. Account 2's contract are in account2_db.contracts. The database name is a field stored in accounts table. How can i make rails association work with this? This is a legacy PHP application and i simply can't change it to store everything in one table. I need to make it work somehow.   I am storing the response to various rpc calls in a mysql table with the following fields: Table: rpc_responses timestamp (date) method (varchar) id (varchar) response (mediumtext) PRIMARY KEY(timestamp,method,id) What is the best method of selecting the most recent responses for all existing combinations of method and id? For each date there can only be one response for a given method/id. Not all call combinations are necessarily present for a given date. • Using T-Sql, how can I insert from one table on a remote server into another table on my local server?

  Given the remote server 'Production' (currently accessible via an IP) and the local database 'Development', how can I run an INSERT into 'Development' from 'Production' using T-SQL? I'm using MS SQL 2005 and the table structures are a lot different between the two databases hence the need for me to manually write some migration scripts. UPDATE: T-SQL really isn't my bag.   I've got a data model that has two tables with a join table for a many to many relationship & creating an OData service to expose the data for CRUD ops in a Silverlight app. What I'd like to do is abstract the join table from the service. I'm not sure if the best way to do this would be in the model (using EF in .NET3.5SP1) or if I should do it with a custom service operation. If I do it in the EF model (not sure how I'd do this), then the OOTB WCF Data Service stuff would make it easy to say [..]/Courses(1)/Modules ... otherwise I'd have to create a custom operation to do this. Is it possible to do this in the EF model and if so, how does that work?

  Please see screenshot Goal: id like to have comments nested 1 level deep The comments would be arranged so that rating of the parent is in descending order the rating of the children comments is irrelevant The left hand side of the screenshot shows the output that Id like. The RHS shows the table data. All of the comments are held in 1 table. Im a beginner with SQL queries, the best I can do is: SELECT * FROM [Comments] WHERE ([ArticleId] = @ArticleId) ORDER BY [ThreadId] DESC, [DateMade] This somewhat does the job, but it obviously neglects the rating. So the above statement would show output where Bobs Comment and all of the children comments are before Amy's and her childrens comments. How can I run this query correctly?

  I have to build unit tests for in environment with a very old version of Test::More (perl5.8 with $Test::More::VERSION being '0.80') which predates the addition of done_testing(). Upgrading to newer Test::More is out of the question for practical reasons. And I am trying to avoid using no_tests - it's generally a bad idea not catching when your unit test dies prematurely. What is the most idiomatic way of running a configurable amount of tests, assuming no no_tests or done_testing() is used? So now I am looking for a new one but it must have the following features. Work on tables Work on tables that have the tablesorter 2.0 plugin on it( so I don't want a pager plugin that comes with its own table sorter since I don't want to change that.   I'm looking to get the best performance out of querying a table containing EXIF data. The queries in question will only search the EXIF data for the specified strings and return the row index on a match. With that said, would it better to store the EXIF data in a table with separate columns for each of the tags, or would storing all of the tags in a single column as one long delimited string suit me just as well? There are around 115 EXIF tags I'll be storing, and each record would be around 1500 to 2000 chars in length if concatenated into a single string.

  i was wondering if there is a data structure optimized to count frequencies against data that is stored in a database table-like format. for example, the data comes in a (comma) delimited format below. col1, col2, col3 x, a, green x, b, blue ... y, c, green now i simply want to count the frequency of col1=x or col1=x and col2=green. i have been storing the data in a database table, but in my profiling and from empirical observation, database connection is the bottle-neck. i have tried using in-memory database solutions too, and that works quite well; the only problem is memory requirements and quirky init/destroy calls. also, i work mainly with java, but have experience with .net, and was wondering if there was any api to work with "tabular" data in a linq way using java. any help is appreciated.

• Reload table view in real time

  The app receives a UILocalNotification, but if the user is at the UITableViewController at the fire time, the table view (containing the scheduled notifications) does not reload. The user has to get out of that view and load the view again so that the cells are loaded and, as the notification was already fired, it will not be displayed on any cell of that table view. Problem is: If the user touches the specific tableView cell that contained the notification that just fired, the app crashes, cause the notification is not there anymore. I've implemented the - (void)reloadData in every place possible, and it still doesn't load in real time. What would be a better solution for this? Other detail, how can I push a specific view after the notification is displayed (when the user slides the app icon when the phone is locked)? Any help will be truly appreciated, since theres are the last details remaining to publish my first App.
