  Hi I am working on core data for the first time. I have just created an entity and attributes for that entity. I want to add some data inside the entity(u can say i want to add data in a table), earlier i when i was using sqlite, i would add data using terminal. But here in core data i am not able to find a place where i can manually add data. I just want to add data in entity and display it in a UITableView. I have gone through the the documentation of core data but it does not explain how to add data manually although it explains how i can add it programmiticaly but i dont need to do it programically. • How do you verify the correct data is in a data mart?

  I'm working on a data warehouse and I'm trying to figure out how to best verify that data from our data cleansing (normalized) database makes it into our data marts correctly. I've done some searches, but the results so far talk more about ensuring things like constraints are in place and that you need to do data validation during the ETL process (E.g. dates are valid, etc.). The dimensions were pretty easy as I could easily either leverage the primary key or write a very simple and verifiable query to get the data. The fact tables are more complex. Any thoughts? We're trying to make this very easy for a subject matter export to run a couple queries, see some data from both the data cleansing database and the data marts, and visually compare the two to ensure they are correct.

• How do I set default values on new properties for existing entities after light weight core data migration?

  I've successfully completed light weight migration on my core data model. My custom entity Vehicle received a new property 'tirePressure' which is an optional property of type double with the default value 0.00. When 'old' Vehicles are fetched from the store (Vehicles that were created before the migration took place) the value for their 'tirePressure' property is nil. (Is that expected behavior?) So I thought: "No problem, I'll just do this in the Vehicle class:" - (void)awakeFromFetch { [super awakeFromFetch]; if (nil == self.tirePressure) { [self willChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; self.tirePressure = [NSNumber numberWithDouble:0.0]; [self didChangeValueForKey:@"tirePressure"]; } } Since "change processing is explicitly disabled around" awakeFromFetch I thought the calls to willChangeValueForKey and didChangeValueForKey would mark 'tirePresure' as dirty. But they don't. Every time these Vehicles are fetched from the store 'tirePressure' continues to be nil despite having saved the context.

• Select data from three different tables with null data

  I am new in Sql. My question is how to get data from three different tables with null values. I have tried a query as below: SELECT * FROM [USER] JOIN [Location] ON ([Location].UserId = [USER].Id) JOIN [ParentChild] ON ([ParentChild].UserId = [USER].Id) WHERE ParentId=7 which I find from this link. Its working fine but, it not fetches all and each data associated with the ParentId Something like it only fetches data which are available in all tables, but also omits some data which not available in Location tables but it comes under the given ParentId. For example: UserId ParentId 1 7 8 7 For userId 8, there is data available in Location table,so it fetches all data. But there is no data for userId 1 available in Location table, so the query didn't work for this. But I want all and every data. If there is no data for userId then it can return only null columns. Is it possible ?? hope everyone can understand my problem.

• Export large amount of data from Oracle 10G to SQL Server 2005

  Dear all, I need to export 100 million data rows (avg row length ~ 100 bytes) from Oracle 10G database table into SQL server (over WAN/VLAN with 6MBits/sec capacity) on a regular basis. So far, these are the options that I have tried and a quick summary. Has anyone tried this before? Are there other better options? Which option would be the best in terms of performance and reliability? The time taken has been calculated using tests on smaller amounts of data and then extrapolating it to estimate the time required. Using data import wizard on the SQL server or SSIS packages to import the data. It will take around 150 hours to complete the task. Using Oracle batch job to spool data into a comma-delimited flat-file. Then using SSIS package to FTP this file to the SQL server and then load directly from the flat-file. The issue here is the size of the flat-file which is expected to run in GBs. Although this option is drastically different, I am even considering the option of using Linked Server to query the Oracle data directly at run-time to avoid bringing in data. Performance is a big problem and I have limited control over the Oracle database in terms of creating table indexes. Regards, Uniball

  I am making a small C++ framework, which contains many .h and .cpp. I have created a general include which include all my .h file such as: framework.h #include "A.h" #include "B.h" #include "C.h" each .h header are protected with include guard such as #ifndef A_HEADER #define A_HEADER ... #endif The issues is, I would like to be able to include "framework.h" inside all the sub .h such as, but it cause lots of compiler error: #ifndef A_HEADER #define A_HEADER #include "framework.h" ... #endif If instead I use the real header file for each sub header, and the framework.h for what ever use my framework it works fine.. I would just like to include the main header inside all my sub .h so I dont need to include all the dependency everytime. Thanks :)

• How does Core Data determine if an NSObjects data can be dropped?

  In the app I am working on now I was storing about 500 images in Core Data. I have since pulled those images out and store them in the file system now, but in the process I found that the app would crash on the device if I had an array of 500 objects with image data in them. An array with 500 object ids with the image data in those objects worked fine. The 500 objects without the image data also worked fine. I found that I got the best performance with both an array of object ids and image data stored on the filesystem instead of in core data. The conclusion I came to was that if I had an object in an array that told Core Data I was "using" that object and Core Data would hold on to the data. Is this correct?

  In my Cocoa app how can I get the current user's domain when they're logged in via Active Directory? I need to determine two things: 1. If the current user is logged on to an Active Directory domain (only need to handle Active Directory). 2. If 1, the domain of the user. I've found references to Directory Services and the Open Directory Programming Guide but the latter is 10.6 only (I must support 10.5+) and I could not find any examples for the former that gave me an idea of what I needed to do.

• Active directory over SSL Error 81 = ldap_connect(hLdap, NULL);

  I have been several day to getting AD over SSL (LDAPS) I followed exactly this guide. I have Active Directory Certifica Service installed (stand alone Root CA), I can request cert, install certs. but whenever I want to test the connection using LDP.exe I got this famous error ld = ldap_sslinit("localhost", 636, 1); Error 0 = ldap_set_option(hLdap, LDAP_OPT_PROTOCOL_VERSION, 3); Error 81 = ldap_connect(hLdap, NULL); Server error: <empty> Error <0x51>: Fail to connect to localhost. I have been searching, I know there are many thing can cause of this error, I tried most thing I can then I decided to post it here. I tried to look if any error in system log, but nothing :/ (but I could be wwrong) can anyone tell me what else to look? UPDATE: I restarted AD service following error showed in event viewer: LDAP over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) will be unavailable at this time because the server was unable to obtain a certificate. Additional Data Error value: 8009030e No credentials are available in the security package

• WPF Login Verification Using Active Directory

  Back in October of 2009 I created a WPF login screen (Figure 1) that just showed how to create the layout for a login screen. That one sample is probably the most downloaded sample we have. So in this blog post, I thought I would update that screen and also hook it up to show how to authenticate your user against Active Directory. Figure 1: Original WPF Login Screen I have updated not only the code behind for this login screen, but also the look and feel as shown in Figure 2. Figure 2: An Updated WPF Login Screen The UI To create the UI for this login screen you can refer to my October of 2009 blog post to see how to create the borderless window. You can then look at the sample code to see how I created the linear gradient brush for the background. There are just a few differences in this screen compared to the old version. First, I changed the key image and instead of using words for the Cancel and Login buttons, I used some icons. Secondly I added a text box to hold the Domain name that you wish to authenticate against. This text box is automatically filled in if you are connected to a network. In the Window_Loaded event procedure of the winLogin window you can retrieve the user’s domain name from the Environment.UserDomainName property. For example: txtDomain.Text = Environment.UserDomainName The ADHelper Class Instead of coding the call to authenticate the user directly in the login screen I created an ADHelper class. This will make it easier if you want to add additional AD calls in the future. The ADHelper class contains just one method at this time called AuthenticateUser. This method authenticates a user name and password against the specified domain. The login screen will gather the credentials from the user such as their user name and password, and also the domain name to authenticate against. To use this ADHelper class you will need to add a reference to the System.DirectoryServices.dll in .NET. The AuthenticateUser Method In order to authenticate a user against your Active Directory you will need to supply a valid LDAP path string to the constructor of the DirectoryEntry class. The LDAP path string will be in the format LDAP://DomainName. You will also pass in the user name and password to the constructor of the DirectoryEntry class as well. With a DirectoryEntry object populated with this LDAP path string, the user name and password you will now pass this object to the constructor of a DirectorySearcher object. You then perform the FindOne method on the DirectorySearcher object. If the DirectorySearcher object returns a SearchResult then the credentials supplied are valid. If the credentials are not valid on the Active Directory then an exception is thrown. Below is the code that you would call to display the login form (named winLogin in my sample application). This code is called from the main application form, and thus the owner of the login screen is set to “this”. You then call the ShowDialog method on the login screen to have this form displayed modally. After the user clicks on one of the two buttons you need to check to see what the DialogResult property was set to. The DialogResult property is a nullable type and thus you first need to check to see if the value has been set. Using the Active Directory services from a WPF application should make your desktop programming task easier as you do not need to create your own user authentication system. • Transitioning from Oracle based CMS to MySQL based CMS

  We're looking at a replacement for our CMS which runs on Oracle. The new CMSes that we've looked at can in theory run on Oracle, but most of the vendor's installs run off of MySQL vendor supports install of their CMS on MySQL, and a "theoretical" install on Oracle the vendor's dev shops use MySQL none of them develop/test against Oracle Our DBA team works exclusively with Oracle, and doesn't have the bandwidth to provide additional support for a highly available and performing MySQL setup. They could in theory go to training and get ramped up, but our time line is also short (surprise!). So ... I guess my question(s) are: If you've seen a situation like this, how have you dealt with it? What tipped the balance either way? What type of effort did it take? But if an user is member of BOTH groups, only the first source rule is evaluated, thus applying only the first ACL. I understand this is due to how source rule matching works in SquidGuard (if one rule matches, evaluation stops there and then the related ACL is applied); so I tried this, too: src AD_Group_A_B { ldapusersearch ldap://my.dc.name/dc=domain,dc=com?sAMAccountName?sub?(&(sAMAccountName=%s)(memberOf=cn=Group_A%2cdc=domain%2cdc=com)) ldapusersearch ldap://my.dc.name/dc=domain,dc=com?sAMAccountName?sub?(&(sAMAccountName=%s)(memberOf=cn=Group_B%2cdc=domain%2cdc=com)) } acl { AD_Group_A_B { pass dest_a dest_b all redirect http://some.url } [...] } But this doesn't work, too: if an user is member of either one of those groups, the whole source rule is matched anyway, so he can reach both destinations (which is of course not what I want). The only solution I found so far is creating a THIRD group in AD, and assign a source rule and an ACL to it; but this setup grows exponentially with more than two or three destination sets. Is there any way to handle this better?

• Oracle Warehouse Builder 11gR2 Windows-ra is

  A héten megjelent az Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Windows platformra is, így lett teljes a kép a legfontosabb szerver operációs rendszerek körében, ezáltal az OWB kliens is hozzáférheto lett Windows-on. Az OWB az Oracle piacvezeto ETL eszköze, extraction, transformation, load - adatkinyerés, betöltés és átalakítás. Az Oracle Warehouse Builder Java-s kliens programja eddig is elérheto volt Linuxon, most már supportáltan megvan Windows-ra is (kis hegesztéssel eddig is lehetett a Linux-os Java-s változatot használni Windows-on). Az OWB vindózos kliens kétféle módon érheto el: - a Database 11gR2 Windows install készlet telepítésével automatikusan felkerül, letöltés - önállóan is felrakható más gépre (standalon), letöltés, itt a Linux kliens is megtalálható. Ez a standalone verzió most jelent meg az OTN-en 2-3 órája. :)
