    I have 2 arrays. I simply want to know if one of the values in array 1 is present in array 2. Nothing more than returning a boolean true or false Example A: $a = array('able','baker','charlie'); $b = array('zebra','yeti','xantis'); Expected result = false Example B: $a = array('able','baker','charlie'); $b = array('zebra','yeti','able','xantis'); Expected result = true So, would it be best to use array_diff() or array_search() or some other simple PHP function?     I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge...     I have multiple models which all have a FK to the same model. All I know is the FK how can I determine which of the models has the FK attached? Below an example to clearify: class ModelA(models.Model): title = models.CharField("title", max_length=80) class ModelB(models.Model): fk = models.ForeignKey(ModelA) class ModelC(models.Model): fk = models.ForeignKey(ModelA) How can I figure out without using a try/except on each model whether B or C has the FK? (The FK can only be in one of them, for the record in this case I only added two models but in the real world app there are multiple possible x amount of models which have the FK to modelA)

    i want to normalize date fields from an old badly designed db dump. i now need to update every row, where the datefield only contains the year. update table set date = '01.01.' + date where date like '____' and isnumeric(date) = 1 and date >= 1950 but this will not work, because sql does not do short circuit evaluation of boolean expressions. thus i get an error "error converting nvarchar '01.07.1989' to int" is there a way to work around this? the column also contains strings with a length of 4, which are not numbers (????, 5/96, 70/8, etc.) the table only has 60000 rows

The word 'longitude' is referenced in 20 different places.     I've got a huge bunch of flights travelling between airports. Each airport has an ID and (x,y) coordinates. For a given list of flights, I want to find the northernmost (highest x) airport visited. Here's the query I'm currently using: SELECT name,iata,icao,apid,x,y FROM airports WHERE y=(SELECT MAX(y) FROM airports AS a , flights AS f WHERE (f.src_apid=a.apid OR f.dst_apid=a.apid) ) This works beautifully and reasonably fast as long as y is unique, but fails once it isn't. What I'd want to do instead is find the MAX(y) in the subquery, but return the unique apid for the airport with the highest y. Any suggestions?

    I really can not describe my question better in the title. If anyone has suggestions: Please tell! I use the Linq to SQL framework in .NET. I ran into something which could be easily solved if the framework supported this, it would be a lot of extra coding otherwise: I have a n to n relation with a helper table in between. Those tables are: Items, places and the connection table which relates items to places and the other way. One item can be found in many places, so can one place have many items. Now of course there will be many items which will be in ALL places. Now there is a problem: Places can always be added. So I need a place-ID which encompasses ALL places, always. Like maybe a place-id "0". If the helper table has a row with the place-id of zero, this should be visible in all places. In SQL this would be a simple "Where [...] or place-id = 0", but how do I do this in Linq relations? Also, for a little side question: How could I manage "all but this place" kind of exclusions?

As per my understanding, the memory in the heap that was being pointed to by x, and is still being pointed by y, hasn't been allocated to someone else, so how can it change to 0? And moreover, I don't think it is free(x) that changed it to 0.     I'm forking a project's SVN repo and need to integrate into my Mercurial repo. To keep things simple I have a local hgsubversion repo and a local hg repo. However both the mercurial and hgsubversion repo uses default as their default branch name. My goal here is to put the original code and updates on one branch and my code on the default branch However I have yet to be able to do this.     Hi, I am trying to call an Activity from another instance of the activity. The code is supposed to be a simple file browser (part of a larger application). I am using a ListActivity, and when an item (such as a folder) is selected, it is supposed to open it up in the new Activity. Given that this plugin javascript appends its code to the level and not to the underlying DOM component that I am accessing above so can't derive what id this pertains to, how can I evaluate the variable during function declaration/definition?
