  • Contacts in Outlook 2003/2007, some questions

    - by Ernst
If I create a distribution list and then select members, can I see different fields than the default ones? In 2007 there are radio buttons for 'name only' and 'more columns', but the latter does seem to only result in no results at all, regardless of which address book I choose. In 2003 there is no such thing. Is there a plug in that will break up the recipients (whether they be to, cc, or bcc) in groups of X, and send then a number of mails as required? Our host allows only 50 recipients per mail and only 300 total recipients per 5 minutes. I know the email client blat has exactly this functionality, but it does not seem to be able to connect to the exchange server to get the contacts needed. Could I maybe set outlook to send to blat which then does the breaking up as necessary? Can I (or is there a plug in for this) export only part of the contacts instead of all of them? Note that we send mail outside our organisation via our web host where we've got a few mailboxes, and we use our exchange (2000) server only internally, the few people that can send email to the outside world have an external mailbox as well as their exchange account defined. I might be able to convince our general boss that we can simply give (some) people the ability to send outside via exchange, but I might just as well not succeed. Alternatively, is there another program that can connect to exchange to get the contacts (selected based on categories) and then send via smtp in groups with delays between the mails?

  • ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Relation does not show in Contacts app

    - by Mark R
I programatically added almost every type of contact field to a contact and they all work except for Relation. Relation types get added to the contacts database, but they don't show up in the Contacts app. I don't see a way to add Relation information through the Contacts GUI for a standard Gmail contact either. Does the Contacts app just not support this data type?

  • Android - display specific contacts information

    - by Donal Rafferty
In my application when a user clicks on a button I want to open the contacts application and display a particular contacts information. At the minute I have this: Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, People.CONTENT_URI); startActivity(intent); This displays the contact application with all the contacts displayed. But how do I get it to display just one contact according to the contacts name or number?

  • How to integrate Gmail, Google contacts and Google calendar into Unity without Thunderbird or Evolution?

    - by mpm
I want to integrate my Google contacts, calender and Gmail to Unity. And I don´t want to use Thunderbird or even worse Evolution. Is there a possibility like in GNOME 3.xx? A lightweight contact / calendar / mail app (maybe one app for contact, one for calendar) would be welcome. Edit: I want to use the calender to sync my appointments with google - e.g. I open my "ubuntu-calender", make a new appointment and it syncs with google calendar. Also return way. The same with contacts. I want a see and edit all my contacts in an app and have them sync with google. Gmail: A notifyer would be enough - just one click on the notifyer and it opens googlemail in chrome. Otherwise an lightweigth email client. Kind regards mpm

  • Sync a specific folder of contacts to iPhone

    - by colemanm
Is there a simple way to organize contacts in Outlook/Entourage and only have a subset of them synchronize with the iPhone over Exchange ActiveSync? Our CEO has thousands of contacts in his mailbox, but would prefer if only a small portion of them synched to his phone over the air... The iPhone's performance takes a huge hit keeping that massive dataset in order. If he could put some of the records in subfolders or something and only sync the top level, I think that would work for him. Does anyone know if this is possible?

  • iPad Synching with Exchange 2007 is Losing Contacts

    - by Christopher
We have a user who has an iPad that is synching to our Exchange 2007 SP1 Server. She is reporting that her contacts are being "eaten", which we take to mean are being slowly deleted over time. This user also has a BlackBerry that is synching through a Blackberry Enterprise Server. I have two questions - 1) Has anyone run into this situation of "self-deleting" contacts or does anyone have any idea what is going on? 2) Can anyone give insight into usage of iPads in their Active Directory/Exchange environment?

  • Windows Mobile deletes my Contacts when deleting a partnership

    - by bitbonk
Sometimes when I reinstall my PC get a new Work PC or buy a new home PC ,ActiveSync, now the Device Center asks me to delete an existing partnership to setup a partnership with the new PC, since only two partnerships are allowed. When I delete that partnership all contacts that originally came from that partnership get deleted too. How can I prevent that from happening. Do I really always have to remember to frequently backup all my contacts in a safe place? How much redundancy is needed. I hat them on one of my PCs and on my phone.

  • iPhone 3GS Contacts 'Sometimes' Won't Sync Back to Exchange

    - by marcusstarnes
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this so just thought I'd find out if it's a known issue or if it's just happening to me. since I first got my 3GS, I've had it synced with Micorsoft Exchange (initially 2003, now 2008). If I go into my contacts on the phone and add a new contact it immediately syncs back at my Exchange server and vice versa. However, sometimes if I add a contact via one of the 'quick links' (Like if I get a text from someone not already in my Contacts on the phone, then use the facility to create a contact for this number), while the contact is visible on the iPhone, it 'never' makes it to the Exchange server. Does this happen to anyone else?

  • Programmatically filtering contacts in Outlook 2010 Add-In

    - by Leon Havin
    I am trying to programmatically filter Outlook contacts in the Contacts folder in Outlook 2010. I followed DASL filter rules, but it seems working for Find function and throws exception when I assign this filter to view.Filter = FilterString. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? The correct result would display filtered contacts in the existing contacts view. Outlook.Application myApp = ThisAddIn.myApp; Outlook.NameSpace myNamespace = ThisAddIn.nSpace; Outlook.MAPIFolder myContactsFolder = ThisAddIn.contactsFolder; if (myContactsFolder == null) { Log.Verbose("Contacts folder not found"); return null; } Outlook.Items contactItems = ThisAddIn.contactItems; //use filter to take only contact and not DistListItem Outlook.Items outlookContacts = contactItems.Restrict("[MessageClass] = 'IPM.Contact'"); Outlook.ContactItem contact = null; int iOutlookContacts = contactItems.Count; if (iOutlookContacts > 0) { string FilterString = "[FullName]='" + param + "'"; // Find works with this filter contact = (Outlook.ContactItem)outlookContacts.Find(FilterString); if (contact != null) { // need to display in contacts search window Outlook.View currentView = myApp.ActiveExplorer().CurrentView; currentView.Filter = FilterString; // cannot parse exception occurs here currentView.Save(); currentView.Apply(); } }

  • Displaying device contacts with an indication that the contact is registered to the app

    - by Prasanna Aarthi
We are developing a mobile app that needs to pick up device contacts, display them and indicate if the contact has already registered with this app. We have our DB in the server and the app fetches data using web services. What will be the best approach to implement the above scenario taking performance into consideration. Option 1: Every time user opens the app, fetch the contacts and send the list of email addresses to the server, check with the registered email ids and return the list of registered users in the contact list. In this approach whenever user opens the particular page, he needs to wait for few seconds to load data, but the contacts will be the latest from the device. Option 2: First time when the user opens the app, fetch contacts ,send the entire list of contacts and save it in the DB, retrieve list of registered users in the contacts then save this to local DB. From now on, data will be fetched from local DB and displayed. When a new user registers in the app, again check with records in central DB and send list of new users who are in your contacts that have registered to your app. This list will be added to local DB. and the process continues. In this case the new contacts added by user will not be updated in the app but retrieval and display of records would be quick. What would be the correct approach? In case there is a better way of doing this, please let me know.

  • [Android]problem when delete contacts,please help me

    - by Enchor
I have been working with Android contacts. I am able to show them, update but when I want to delete any, it is not deleted completely. In Contacts application is shown as (Unknown) without any data. Here is my example: ArrayList ops = new ArrayList(); ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newDelete(Data.CONTENT_URI) .withSelection(Data.CONTACT_ID + "=?", new String[]{selectedid}) .build()); getContentResolver().applyBatch(ContactsContract.AUTHORITY, ops); Should I do anything else to delete contact entirely? It seems that these code delete info in table ContactsContract.Data but it does not delete element related in table ContactsContract.Contacts or ContactsContract.RawContacts.how can i do to delete an contact completely? ============================================================================ also, i tried deprecated method. It dose work, but i do not want to do so. Here is the sample code: ContentResolver contentResolver = m_cContent.getContentResolver(); contentResolver.delete(People.CONTENT_URI, People.NAME + "=?", new String[] { SelectedName }); and if i modify this code to ContentResolver contentResolver = m_cContent.getContentResolver(); contentResolver.delete(ContactsContract.Contacts, ContactsContract.Contacts._ID + "=?", new String[] { Selectedid }); It has no effect. Does it mean that one can only delete a contact by name instead of by its id? What on earth can i do to delete contact? Thanks, Enchor

  • Software to consolidate contacts from multiple sources?

    - by Neil
I'm looking for an app that can take my contacts from Gmail, Facebook, and my mobile phone, to come up with one consolidated address book that, for each contact, contains the name, email address, facebook username, and mobile number, and if possible, export this data to the Mac Address Book. Is there any app that can do this? Online or offline will do. Currently, I've been only able to find apps that need to be hosted on my own server, such as the ones below. Isn't there any standalone desktop or web app? knowee[dot]net/ noserub[dot]com/ diso-project[dot]org/

  • How to use Windows live contacts api to allow users to import contacts

    - by AlfaTeK
I can't find a good, simple tutorial on how to achieve this in PHP / Javascript. Basically the same thing FB has where the users specifies their hotmail account and then gives permission to FB to access their contacts. As the API seems to have changed most tutorials simply don't work like: http://livecontactsphp.codeplex.com/ which doesn't get the contacts (but authenticates and gets permission from user)

  • Skype companywide global contacts list

    - by Martin
We are a medium sized company based across several sites and with a number of home workers. We have more or less settled on Skype as our defacto method of communication. At the moment the only pain is ensuring that everybody has all the other employees added to their contact list. Can be a real pain when a new employee starts and they have to send details to everyone else and vice versa. Is there a solution that allows us to manage a central contacts list that we can push out to new/existing users?

  • Standardize Outlook Contacts Format

    - by Nathan DeWitt
I have Outlook syncing with my cell phone (WinMo 6.1) and vice versa. Everything works fine, but my numbers are all in different formats. I have some contacts with numbers of 5555551234, some are 555.555.1234, some are (555) 555-1234, some are 555-555-1234, etc. I don't really care how it's displayed, because they all dial fine on my phone. But I want to clean them up so they all look the same. Any easy ways to do this?

  • Keep outlook and Gmail contacts in Sync

    - by CFP
What free (or better, open source) applications do you know of to keep outlook and Gmail contacts in sync? I need my outlook and Gmail accounts to be in sync, since my phone can only connect to Gmail... I've tried GO Contact Sync, but it won't preserve categories, and I also tried Gcontactsynchbut it seems outdated. Google Apps Sync is only for paying users, and Chapura too. Any application out there that does great sync between gmail and outlook? Thanks! CFP.
